As a road warrior on a budget, I've stayed at my share of questionable hotels. I was not expecting much from the Hampton Inn at Burlingame, after reading reviews on another travel site complaining about the poor shuttle service, which i was counting on.

However, I only had to wait for 10 minutes at the airport, after calling the hotel for the shuttle. The front desk allowed me to check-in well before 3pm, and was very friendly. The free breakfast is pretty good!

The one problem I had during my stay was that the electronic lock to my room stopped working, not locking when i left the room. The staff was very courteous and accommodating when I asked to be switched to another room.

Pros: spacious room, free wired & wireless internet, comfy beds, free breakfast (including hot items such as sausage & eggs, whole fruit, good selection of hot teas and coffee...), friendly staff

Cons: location leaves something to be desired, but if you have a car, it shouldnt really be a problem.

This Hampton was a real disappointment.  I've stayed in many Hamptons in the past few years and the bang-for-the-buck has been excellent.  This one was problematic for several reasons, including being cramped, very noisy (poor isolation from other rooms and especially the outside, where a garbage truck woke us up like clockwork every 5am), no ventilation in the bathrooms, and very cheap, uncomfortable mattresses.   My wife says she's never been on a worse mattress in her life.  We would never go back.

what can I say, its a Hampton Inn....though a member of the Hilton family, these are like unto Fords as compared to Lincolns..the same company, but a definite step below...adequate rooms, not that many channels on the TV, beds ok but not as comfy as Doubletrees (another Hilton family chain), free parking, free breakfast but its average to average minus......all in all, good for families and businessmen on budgets....no frills, but nice enough to let you rest easy a night or two...
