So my brother wakes me up this morning with a phone call.  I hear through my plague-like-sickness haze that he's ordered lunch for me and it'll be arriving in like 30 minutes.

So he ordered a large lentil soup, two sandwiches and fries from the Half Shell.  It came and it was okay.  It was all cold.  The soup I reheated and was pretty good.  The fries were not salvageable.  The BLT I had was passable, but the bread was a little chewy.  I know, it was a delivery, but I'm not that far away.  Maybe a mile.  So it would have been nice to have it a little warmer.

OK, one extra star for my brother.  Bless his little heart.

I fail at coherent reviews, but here's all the awesome things about this place

Meatball calzones & Ravioli, and whatever else comes with tomato sauce. The sauce isn't tacky watered-down ketchup I seem to find everywhere... Its actual good Thick stuff with chunks of tomato!

The pizza is very tasty and the toppings are a-plenty! I'm a big fan of their dough
and they make breakfast stuffs (omelets ahoy!) way past noon (had mine at 5pm ^^) so don't be shy about getting a nice fluffy fried egg stuffed into a bagel

The subs made by the wonderful "man with the mustache" might be the reason I'm gaining extra pounds. They're just So Wonderfully Good!  For 5 bucks, the "small" isn't small at all, and filled to overflowing with delicious steak/mushrooms/cheese (or whatever you feel like mixing up in there)

oh, and last but not least is a cookie. Big round delicious choco-chip cookie near the register. They aren't there all the time (some days there's pieces of the...um... whats-its-called.. greek honey pastry), and sell out fast... so grab one if you see it! You won't regret it

__
the only downer:  the soup was mushy and gross.

I adore the Half Shell.  I really miss it, having moved to Somerville from Cambridge.   The Half Shell has the absolutely BEST veggie pizza.  It is loaded with delicious vegetables, including some rather unusual ones, like artichoke hearts, and has a good amount of cheese and olive oil.  The crust is delectable.  Mmmm.  Wish they would deliver to Somerville, but no luck.

I used to work at a restaurant in Cambridge and rather than eat the free food the owner offered us, we opted to buy our lunch from the Half Shell...it is just that good!

Note...the Half Shell's atmosphere is a simple,  uninspired pizza shop, so stick to take out or delivery...or...be forewarned to avoid disappointment.

I've been to the Half-Shell about a dozen times in the past year.  Nothing has ever been particularly great, but it's always good enough, cheap, and the people who work there seem happy to make whatever you want whenever you want.  The big appeal for me is that it's one of the only places in Cambridge where you can get breakfast all day (or most of the day, anyway).

Beats Andy's Diner and Rosebud, anyway...

I had walked by this place many times, but finally decided to go in a few days ago and order something.  I got a tuna salad.  Wow!  This is what you call a salad: romaine, tomato, cukes, green peppers, shredded carrots, shredded cabbage, etc.  They topped it with a serving of tuna, which I ended up splitting into two servings and used one for the next day on a plain salad.  The price of $6 was very reasonable.  Try this place, it is a good value for the quality of the food.

I have been looking for a good delivery pizza restaurant around this area since I moved here 4 months ago.  After several disappointments, such as generally bland pizza, limited delivery hours and being closed on Sundays, I stumbled across Half Shell.

The pizza was really great!  It seemed fresh, wasn't too greasy and had plenty of toppings.  It was reasonably priced- we ordered a large pizza with 3 toppings (one of which was artichokes), 2 sodas and seasoned fries and it was just over $20.  And, the fries were fantastic!  While they probably came from a bag, they arrived crispy and warm, not like your typical soggy delivery oreder fries.

I will definitely be ordering again!

I love this place. I usually go for their sandwiches, pizza, and calzone. The family who runs the place are very nice and the prices are inexpensive.

My favorite is the mushroom cheese steak sub. Simple but great. Also, the chocolate chip cookies are really tasty. Mmm..cookie *munch munch*

Service is fast and there are many food options on the menu to choose from. From pizza to salads.

I went to get a haircut this afternoon, and decided to get a snack afterwards. I've been meaning to go into Half-Shell to give their gyro a try, so I figured it was as good a time as any. So I ordered my gyro and then started perusing their menu a little more carefully.

Lo and behold, they serve a dish that I've been craving for a very long time and that I've strangely never seen anywhere outside of Minnesota: GYRO PIZZA!

If you've never had gyro pizza, you have to try it, it's amazing. Ignore all other considerations, and just go here to try the gyro pizza. Do it. Now.

Oh yeah, the gyro I ordered was great.

We adore Greek pizza, and this was a great find for us!

The pizza has already been spoken for on Yelp, but make sure to come for the breakfast specials, too, which are served until past noon, at least!  Very diner-esqe but without the weekend crowds, specials for 3 dollars, and coffee in ceramic mugs!

The service is polite, great for kids, too!

Decent pizza. We had them delivered A LOT when we lived in the area.  Good price, solidly good pizza. Also good subs.

A classic New England joint: Owned by an immigrant family, sells pizzas and subs, in a little tiny place with about 4 tables.   All this adds to its charm.

Half-Shell is run of the mill Greek style pizza. The crust and sauce are great, the cheese would be excellent except that they mix in a lot of herbs (possibly parsley I couldn't tell) and throw off the flavor of the whole slice.

A family owned Greek restaurant.

I eat here a lot. I get the salads, but I have also had the pizza and it is so good.

They also make their own Baklava and chocolate chip cookies.

I guess I just go to places to say I've gone to them. It was forgettable before I stepped in the door.
