Staff is friendly, the place is bright and clean. Food is good, the sourdough grilled chicken burger is GOOD! Check the website, full menu on it :)

Call me a nerd, but once again I visited here because one, being a designer I couldn't help but be bewildered by the tilting "b" in Habit. Two, those neato drawings of the burger reminded me of my college years in a graphics class. Kudos for that!

Besides my nerdyness, the burgers were actually great! They're juicy, and just the right size. I LOVE fries, and they were to my liking as well. All for a reasonable price, you can get a satisfying meal!

The service was friendly and fast. As for the dining, there's plenty of seating and sanitary as well!

If I were back at home in Elk Grove, this would probably be the worst habit for me. I'm such a sucker for burgers....

I kept driving by this hidden gem and having the charbroil scent come through my car window. For the longest time.I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Finally, one day I was stopped at the light and saw the sign and this is what happened...

I got a new life
You would hardly recognize me
I'm so glad
How can a person like me care for you
Why do I bother
When you re not the one for me
Is enough enough?
No ones gonna drag you up
To get into the light where you belong
But where do you belong
Under the pale moon
For so many years I've wondered
Who you are
I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes

Basically, all because they offer a great burger, good onion rings (didn't even have to ask for the ranch!) and the prices were reasonable.

Love this place.

Relatively fast, clean, good staff, great food.

I go for a regular hamburger and onion rings or just a burger and a shake. The milkshakes are really good. I love that there is a variety of condiments available.

I'm a huge fan of The Habit! It's easily the best when it comes to a quick meal in Elk Grove, although that distinction doesn't really carry a ton of clout. Their place is stunningly clean, and they quite possibly make the prettiest looking burgers I've ever seen (It looks like it's straight out a Fisher-Price playset).

Aside from that, their burgers are fantastic. Although I can see that some may prefer a bit more bulk to the patties that they serve, to me they're just right and I feel that I could always order their Double-Char burger if I'm feeling extra bovine. Their fries are always on point as well. Their pricepoints are more than reasonable, and I think that their current rating on Yelp would indicate to you Habit-virgins out there that they are more than worthy of giving it to you. HARD.

My Brother and his family raved about this place, so I thought I'd try it out.  I went with the kiddos...Child1 never orders burgers, so I thought for sure he'd try a chicken sandwich or something to that extent.  I was surprised to see that he ordered the teriyaki burger.  Child2 also ordered the teriyaki burger and had actually had it while with her uncle in the past.  I thought about it for half a second...asked her if their teriyaki burger was better than my homemade ones, and she said "NO!"....being very picky about my hamburgers....especially if I have my own recipe for a specialty one, I decided to give them a fair playing field by ordering the BBQ Bacon burger.

We also ordered a chocolate malt, mocha shake, fries and onion rings.  The total came to about $25- which isn't much when you think of what you would pay at a McDonald's ( a little less) or a Chilli's..(a little more).

The cashier irritated the holy crap out of me.  It was my first time there, and yes, while I understand you must live a very busy life, so do I.  If I want to take a second to read your vast menu, please let me do so.  If I change my mind and want to add onion rings, take it easy on the cash register...it didn't do anything to deserve your finger-jabs.  I work hard to make money...if I spend it anywhere, I expect the food to be good and the service to be better.  They lost 1.5 stars for shitty attitudes.  I don't care if her cat died that day...she should not have come to work.

There comes a point in my conversation with wait staff, order takers, cashiers where I recognize that I'm being nicer than the actual employee.  I draw the line there.  I hate that and I hate the word hate....

Anyways, the burgers are actually VERY good!  The meat is tender, the bun is fresh...the condiments are also very fresh tasting.  Child2, being the picky one, ended up taking all of his condiments off, so he realistically could've gotten a plain burger with a side of teriyaki sauce.

The bbq sauce was sweet- not smoky the way I like it....the fries were deep fried potatoes....go figure.  The onion rings....VERY GOOD.  While we were discussing what shakes to order, another customer in line highly recommended the mocha shake.  She was right...it's delish.  The chocolate malt?  EH.....

All in all, the menu seems to have something for everyone and I will return to try something different.  The chicken club is next...then a salad.  When both kids can agree on one restaurant, it's a good thing.....

I've been to plenty of burger joints in and out of the Bay Area. Get it... "in and out." Never mind. So when you're in the Elk Grove area, drop by The Habit for a quick burger bite. The menu is average and they also have good salad choices for the "healthy conscious". Burgers are pretty tender (Double Char all the way) and the fries are crisp. The service is quick and attentive as well.

I usually don't like chain burger joints, but Habit is a good one.  I used to hit this up after the gym during the winter time while I was bulking.  A double cheeseburger, add bacon and avocado, with a side of fries and onion rings...o yeh...diet coke to watch the waistline. Haha. All in all solid burger, fresh food, reasonable prices.

Now I have eaten alot of burgers (here and in England) in my 39 years and consider myself an cheeseburger aficionado. Habit Burger formed many years ago in Santa Barbara where my love of Habit began. So when the opening manager actually recognized me from So Cal you can imagine my embarrassment. When I heard that they were opening one in Elk Grove I thought someone was taking the mickey with me. But no they really came and they rock here as well. I recommend the double char with rings and a side a ranch and the milkshakes are amazing.

I have been wanting to try The Habit Burger Grill for awhile now, and I am glad I did. Don't let those 1 stars fool you. They have great, juicy, charbroiled burgers. I will definitely go back. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, was because the fries were not outstanding.

Are we talking about the same place? This is no more remarkable than any other clean hamburger joint in America. This place is average at best.

I just assume head to In and Out a few more miles down Laguna. You want a real burger go to the Squeeze Inn

The only reason I give this joint 1 star is because no one else did. Don't be fooled by the stars this place has some freaking awesome burgers...very tender, hot, juicy, fresh off the grill burgers. This isn't your regular fast food burger joint, matter of fact it's more like your top of the line burger restaurants. The only thing I'll criticize badly about THE HABIT is that you will have to get in the HABIT of paying your whole wallet. Man do they have some pricy burgers! YELP YELP IT UP!

I love the Habit. I think this is more better than In-N-Out in respect to the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, In-N-Out has some tasty normal burgers. Here at the habit, they have almost that similar taste to In-N-Out but with more meat, and more fix-ins to your burger.

The Habit Burger, is Flat Grilled vs In-n-Out's Flat-Frying. I would rather have a Flat-Grilled burger over the Flat-Fried one, maybe because it tastes better with that smokiness. I was surprised on the cheese and "animal style" onions. Very similar to In-N-OUt. But I have to give it to you Habit Burger Grill, I really applaud the avocado addition to meal. Yes, I need fiber..LOL!

I have yet to try their Malts, and from the reviews, I bet it is a worthy addition to your meal. Frys are cool, they also have Onion Rings too.

Service is excellent. Lady even asked if I wanted any kind of dipping sauce for my fries: sure why not!

I really recommend this place only so that us non-HIGH SCHOOL-FOLK can get away from In-N-Out burger. But there is a slight problem: Where are you going to get that fix at 12:00am...ahhh I guess In-N-Out will do hahaha.

But still, Habit burger is a great place to have a different kind of burger. YAAAAAAAAY.

Everything is good here!  The burgers are the best anywhere.  The steak sandwich is spectacular.  The chicken sandwich is awesome.  Chocolate shake is dang good.  French fries are perfect - so are the onion rings.  I wish they'd put one of these in midtown somewhere.  Great food, served quick, very friendly people, and a nice clean dining area.  What more could you ask for?

Very good hamburgers, charbroiled while you wait.  A definite step up from In N' Out..  The fries and onion rings aren't bad either (although the fries come from a bag, unlike the fresh ones at In N' Out).  Ranch dressing available for the onion rings.  The dining area was clean and well-tended, and the staff was friendly.  I had expected it to be busy on a Sunday afternoon, but not so...we got our food in about 5 minutes   I'll definitely return when I need another burger fix (and can afford to blow half my daily caloric intake in one setting)..

Mighty tasty burgers are being grilled to order here!  Wow.
Out visiting a friend tonight and didn't want to cook, so the Fam. asks to bring back some In-N-Out since I was in the area.
My good friend intervened and instructed me to get myself over the Habit Burger.  I had never heard of it since I'm rarely out of my 5 mile radius.  She is indeed, a good friend!
Fresh, fresh!  Grilled onions, lots of gooey melted cheese, large moist patty/patties.
I'm glad I don't live too close to this place; all the more better for the arteries and potential poundage increase on my scale - and I don't need anymore bad habits!

*Update*  7/31/07 - in the area again tonight and famished. I just have to say my dinning companion and I agreed that the french fries were also delish!  Tasty like McDonald's, but more like Mickey D's larger cousin, Yowza!  The kiddies really enjoyed their kids meal burgers - just meat and ketchup on a bun - that's it, but as I have to taste the food of all dinning with me, these simple kiddie burgers were damn tasty too!

Two nights in a row . . . yikes . .

What can I say - If you want a REAL hamburger, fresh, and tasty, this is the place to go. I dare to say it is better than restaurant burgers.

The sides; however, are weak. The onion rings are so-so. I am updating it here - because recently the fries are much, much better. Definitely more crisp.

Also, the tri-tip steak sandwich is incredible.

This particular location has an exceptionally friendly staff.

My parents fund this place, they love a good burger and my dad was hoping to be served by nuns.

Great food! Burgers are better than In-N-Out but in the same genre in that it's technically fast food. Crispy golden brown fries, perfect salt distribution and a normal serving size (not the JUMBO size you get at Mickey D's when you ask for a medium). I haven't had a malt or milkshake of my own but I've tried Dad's and Hubster's and both were yummy (strawberry shake and vanilla malt respectively).

The staff is very nice and genuine, the place is clean, cute and spacious. Love sitting outside on a nice day.

The only reason this place gets 4 stars is b/c it's located in "Laguna" which I hate. Laguna is just a fancy made up name for the snooty middle class people who moved in here like locusts but didn't want to tell anyone they lived in South Sac. Foo on you, you live in South Sac, just admit it.

I don't care what Sacramento Magazine or The Bee say, this is the best burger place in the whole area.  The bacon cheeseburgers are unbelievable (fresh, real bacon cooked crispy), their onion rings are the best I've ever had, the service is friendly and outstanding (they always double-check your order with you before you sit down or take out).  I'm so hooked on their burgers I haven't tried any of their other menu items, but they do have chicken sandwiches, albacore, salads, and other stuff.   For a true burger aficianado, it's worth a drive from Sacramento to Elk Grove.

Great burger:  fresh produce, grilled onions (if you like those, which I don't, so I'll ask them to hold them next time), more meat than In-N-Out, and tasty buns.
Very good fries: crisp and not soggy, not over-loaded with salt.
Excellent malts:  chocolate was what we tried, and it was super thick, which was wonderful.
Excellent customer service:  they came around to our table twice to ask how everything was, and we watched them go out of their way to assist customers taking food outside to the outdoor dining area.
Very clean:  clean tables, floors, and drink stations.  I didn't check out the bathrooms.

I can't wait to go here again.  The prices are reasonable, and they really do make good sit-down quality burgers at a fast-food price and speed.

Wow! I just don't understand the negative reviews.  This place is so damn good!!!  Definitely one of the best burgers I have had in a while.   I think if I could physically make love to a Habit double char, I would.   Also, the onion rings are far better than any I have had in years!

BuRgeRs = JuIcY, tAsTy, DeLiCiOuS...

location isn't that great because it's kind of hidden. the fries are ok.

service is pretty cool. it's a very chilled, laid back environment... price is reasonable.

WHY HERE? Had it once in Santa Barbara and been waiting to eat it again.

They make a tasty burger and their grilled chicken sandwich was delicious too. They have great service. I was impressed with the fact that someone came by as we were eating to make sure that everything was okay and asked us if we needed anything at all. You usually don't expect that at a burger joint that's more like fast food. It was clean and comfortable inside and the menu also has salads and a lot of different grilled sandwiches to choose from. The only disappointment was their fries. I didn't care for them too much. Other than that, It's definitely worth checking out!

I've been eyeing this place for a couple of weeks now, and finally got a chance to go there.  Apparently, according to the Bee, they opened around late December 2006

The place is warm and bright and the furniture is conservative/modern.  Music was a nice mix of stuff you'd hear on top 40 radio these days as well was several years ago.  Place is clean, though that's probably because they're so new.

I ordered a Charburger (easy mayo) with cheese, with fries and a fountain drink.  The burger had grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and a pickle slice.  The patty was grilled after I ordered to about a medium-rare/medium, I'd say.  Burger itself reminded me of something I'd get from In-N-Out, though a little fancier.

They give a sizable serving of fries, the kind you'd find at a burger stand or something, fried just the right mix of "golden" and "brown"

Gut Reaction Rating, 3 stars, one more for tilt because I think I'd have to come back, preferably during warmer weather so I can sit in their outside eating area and try a malt or milkshake.
