We caught this by accident when we stopped by for the farmer's market at the Great Park. Initially, our impression was that it was a swap meet of sorts as some of the vendors definitely were not selling antiques but after passing by a few, we felt better and ended up spending a little over $100 for one antique 1960's brooch and a pair of Chinese foo dogs (cement, not stone).
I'm not usually an antique shopper, so I'm not sure what would be considered good prices, but these prices seemed high and I've seen vintage and antique things of comparable value/quality on Etsy for the about the same or even less. I am on the hunt for brooches for a brooch bouquet for my wedding and while there are at least a dozen vendors with brooches, it was pretty much impossible to find a decent, sparkly brooch for anything less than $25. One vendor that seemed to specialize in antique baubles had some for $80! Ouch. The vendors didn't seem inclined to bargain down, contrary to my assumptions about antiques sales and meets. In fact, for one average-quality brooch, the vendor wouldn't even get off the phone with us and refused to go down $2. Seriously. In the end, we got a small markdown for our foo dogs, which we loved, but then she only accepted less because we told her we literally had no money left (as we didn't expect to go antique shopping to begin with!).
So I definitely like it more than going to the Orange Circle because the open-air stands don't smell funny, unlike antique stores that definitely have that musty, damp odor to them.
So overall, we enjoyed our experience and it was a fun Sunday activity, although it can get quite hot. Prices are about average to high, it appears, for antique, vintage finds, though keep in mind that some are just vintage-inspired and not genuinely old. Some vendors are very nice; some could work on their social skills. -

I used to love going to this flea market when they were at the college. We hadn't been since they moved and I have to say I was pretty dissapointed. Maybe it was the day we went, not sure, but I don't believe many of the vendors that used to be here were here this weekend. It seems much more like the flea market at Veteran's stadium in Long Beach now. Prices seemed quite a bit higher.
In any event, we usually go home with a car full of wonderful buys. This weekend, we bought 4 items that fit in one bag. Being that it has been awhile since we were there, I'm hoping it was just an off weekend. We will definitely give it another shot next month and hope we have a different experience. -

LOVE LOVE LOVE! so happy they moved to a larger venue with parking--FREE PARKING!!! love spending hours walking and finding deals. Lots of cottage style items, plus jewelry and plenty of oddities. Most sellers are there to sell, but you will run into one or two that pretty much want to scare any potential buyers away. thats ok... pleanty of other sellers with good cool stuff. Hungry? afters go hang in the shade under the trees enjoying music and the food trucks cookin away---serious mouth watering stuff there!

6 rows total?
Spacious free parking.
Bring a hat and sunscreen plus water for hydration
I didn't buy anything but it was neat to browse through aisles of selling enthusiasts.
Convenient for all OC folks. -

This is a pretty decent place to wlk around. It's not like Long Beach or the Rose Bowl, but for small little IVC, it's not bad.
On our last visit one of my daughters and I picked up a couple of punchboards. We also found a little safe from one of the vendors. There are a lot of craft booths that we just skip right over, but generally some pretty good merchandise.
The pros: Free Parking and Free Entry. I like that you aren't shelling out cash before you get in. The other pro for me at least is location, location, location.
It's nice to not drive up to Long Beach to see some of the same vendors.
They even have a few Mexican taco trucks standing by if you get hungry! -

One of my favorite flea markets. It's small but still tons of vendors to browse through - you can spend a good 2 or 3 hours here. The same stuff you'd find at the Orange Antique Malls but for cheaper! At other antique flea markets, I think the vendors charge a lot more since they're much bigger and there are a lot more people going to them so they think they can charge more. When I come here, I know I'll get really great deals and I always walk away with something. Parking and admission are free - even better!
The flea market is moving to the Great Park (I heard this from a vendor while browsing through her jewelry) starting in November. Better location for the vendors probably since IVC is sort of a random place to have a flea market. -

I almost don't want to write this review to tell you all how incredibly fabulous I think this place is... just thinking about keeping my flea market competition down... you understand ;)
I've been to quite a few flea markets lately... including the over rated and over priced Rose Bowl one... and this by far beats them all out. There are some amazing finds at garage sale prices! Of course you have the random vendors thinking they are selling at some posh boutique... but just brush past them like I do, because the deals completely out weigh the few diva's who over price! I just always walk away with so many fun things! A must if you are into flea markets! -

This was my first time coming here and i'd have to say, it was quite entertaining. I swear it's like American Pickers and Pawn Stars combined. There was a lady selling some vintage jewelry and i was stuck here at this one booth for like half an hour checking out her cool stuff. I found this cool sterling silver snake ring!! I LOVE IT!! and i only paid $4.00!! She had all types of rings, necklaces, etc.
You know, i remember being a little girl and my mother wore a mood ring. When she was in a good mood, it turned blue. In a bad mood, it would leave a red mark on my forehead..... :( -

Here's what you're likely to find, vintage costume jewelry, glassware, kitchen goods, paintings, hats, handbags, signs, furniture, random collectibles, etc. Basically, similar vendors that you might find in the consignment shops in downtown Orange. You wont find regular garage sale type stuff. I think all of the vendors must be in the realm of collectibles and antiques.
In any case, it's still fun to browse. It is a bit of the same stuff aisle after aisle, but if you take the time you might find something unique and fabulous. This is surely one of the biggest antique flea markets I've ever seen and certainly worth checking out. The bf and I ended up spending $3 dollars between the two of us and had a nice morning outdoors and got a little exercise. There was only one refreshment vendor so make sure to pick up coffee and breakfast beforehand.Listed in: Irvana

This is a great flea market, and I spoke with a lady from the event company today who confirmed that the flea market will take place this coming Sunday, November 6th in its new location at the Great Park. She said that the hours are still from 7:00am to 2:00pm, and admission and parking are still free. Call the number that is posted here on Yelp if you need information. She also provided detailed directions for me. She said that the new location means an even bigger flea market - yay! My recommendation if you've not attended one of these before is to bring something to carry all of your purchases in (my friend and I share a wheelie cart at these events - dorky but effective), and use a good sunscreen. I can't wait to try out the new location!

This place is bomdiggity! Love, love love it! First of all there is no entrance fee! Yes! Second, I have never seen so many things I have wanted to buy in all the many flea markets I have ever been too. The variety of different types of antiques, knick knacks, furniture etc. etc. is amazing! All must go. :)

**MOVED**The Groves Antique flea market, at I.V.C. is now going to be located at the Great Park, (the old El Toro Military Base) No number address for this location. On Sand Canyon Road Off the 5 fwy. Same side as Denny's. Look for the farmers market signs. Close to the overpass. You can miss the drive way so go slow. It's still the first Sunday of each month. Same place as the farmers market that is every Sunday, and pretty good at that! Good food, shopping, music, and gardens. Free rides for the kiddies too. Thumbs up!

i visited this past sunday and it was so much fun despite the sun...the sun was being a total hater so my friend bought me a pint sized parisol for 5 bucks :P the set up of the flea market is kinda scattered all over the parking lot of irvine valley college, but the area is small so it's very manageable and easy to navigate within a couple of hours.
there weren't very many clothes that i noticed, but there were tons of house wares, decor, small and large furniture, a shit ton of awesome rhinestone jewelry in every color imaginable, lots of interesting, vintage artwork and just all kinds of fun knick knacks...! based on the things i actually asked a price on, everything seemed pretty reasonable to pretty cheap.
i walked away with a framed christmas tree which was more of a crafty piece than anything...it's made of small shards of green glass as well as various brooches and other pieces of sparkley rhinestone jewelry and some christmas lights poked through the back! all of that is attached to some awesome mustard colored velvet. i love it and it was only 15 bucks. my mom used to collect these things and take them apart to try and salvage some of the jewelry, but i'm keeping mine intact to hang it up all year long :) -

I'll give this Antique Market an extra 1/2 star just for the reason that it's walking distance and Chloe (my doggie) is allowed. The vendors are pleasant and prices are much more reasonable than The Rose Bowl, Pasadena Flea Market, and Long Beach Flea Market. With that though, the pickings are much more slim.
Not such a treasure trove for hunters on the prowl for vintage clothing or special furniture pieces. There are quite a few good jewelry dealers, mostly vintage costume, but always fun to dig through the baubles and jewels.
This is definitely a market that requires patience to find the needle in the haystack. I've found only a couple of pieces here on my many trips. But when you do find a great piece and a great price, it's worth savoring!
Admission and parking are free and patrons are all pretty nice and laid back. What more could you want from a flea market on a lazy Sunday morning? -

i've been living in Irvine for 20+ years and I live across the street. How I didn't know about this amazing flea market just baffles me. Amazing assortment of vendors, items, antiques, vintage and knick knacks. Amazing! first sunday of the month. Lots of rare items, vintage chanel, ysl and prada. Vintage jewelry and silvers. Antique china, furniture and keys. Check it out! you will not be disappointed. Cheap home decor hat has a lot of character. Will be there next time!

I'm not a collector so those 5 stars you see there aren't for the rarity or availability of collectibles. Those 5 stars are for the woo-woo, the raising of the roof, and the amen to the great finds and great prices we've gotten. You can read about it here (http://renerdvate.word...). Also, becasue this flea market is small, it's more manageable. I have a kid now and the last thing he can handle is x-amount of hours digging through the Rose Bowl.

One of the best antique/flea markets I've been to. An amazing and eclectic mix of items. If you are a watch collector this is a must visit attraction. When I was there, there were at least a dozen fine watch vendors. Prices are comparable to what you would likely see on the upper end of the Ebay spectrum, so don't expect to get an outrageous deal. The benefit of shopping here is you can often trade, haggle, handle, and barter for items you would like to purchase. Many dealers are not stupid either. They know the prices of items, but they also know they can't hold onto items forever if they are not selling. Make sure to bring plenty of cash to the event because none of the sellers accept checks or credit cards. Also be sure to purchase the items you want when you find them. Merchandise moves fast, and many items are very rare and you may not find another one in a very long time or at all. A good rule is to haggle or barter when you find an item until you get the seller to a reasonable price and then buy it.

Love this place! Walking distance from my house is a huge plus. They have some great stuff. Very small but totally worth going to. My son loves it as well. I have found some great old albums for almost nothing as well as great vintage kitchen utensils. Parking is free and very easy.

Sunnyvale, CA
personally, i think this is better than the long beach antique fair. reason being, it is 1. close to home (for me!), 2. less vendors = less repeat of junk, 3. higher quality of vendors, and 4. theres no admission charge. its housed in the ivc parking lot off of irvine center drive and jeffrey. i highly suggest it as an activity on sunday. i recently went and bought a white framed chalkboard for $15 (it was 3x4' big!, an old camera for decor, ranuculuses, and a beautiful retro tablecloth and 12 matching napkins. i have purchased more items visiting this market vs. the long beach one. plus, its not as vast so definitely more controllable as you stroll the aisles.
