When I was a young lad, this was teh place where the preppies came to drink. When the preppies came home from college, this was always the first destination. Granted, I am a few years removed from college, but we still have preppies and they still go to college. So I was shocked but happily please to find this nearly empty on a recent Wednesday night. I think they think of themselves as a sports bar but with an ESPNZone a few miles down the road can anything else really compare. A few tellys on the wall just doesn't cut it as a sports bar anymore. I could have possibly overlooked all of this as I was there to catch-up with a friends, but the service was just painfully, slow. Apparently, no one was working the floor and only one person was behind the bar. Nice enough but just slow.
With the changes to the Inner Harbor, I suspect The Turtle has lost its core customer. Today, it is all about the money as witnessed by an attempt to capitalize on the name with a BWI version. I suppose they think that many people coming and going will long for those days gone by and stop and remember happier times at The Turtle.
