This place is all right, but I've been to better bars like Little Rock.

At this place, it seems like everyone knows each other. Its small and dark. Nothing special here. The only reason why I would ever come back is because its close to home and not so crowded.

When this place first opened, it was pretty cool. It was around the corner from my place so I was stoked that I had a place to hang out. Then, over time, the owner stopped coming by (he opened a newer, hipper place). The staff got ruder, the crowd got nastier and nastier.

What else? Over-priced drinks that frequently change price depending on your bartender. A shooting (yes, in Sherman Oaks), fights and the same 20 guys with the same 4 women (2 of whom are behind the bar).

Two years ago, it wouldn't really have been a dive bar. It was kinda nice - decent decor, sports on the TVs, fun crowd and it was clean.

It went from Dive+1 to Dive-3 in record time.

Only came here because I was visiting a friend in Studio City and this was the closest bar in that particular neighborhood.

Eh. I don't frequent dive bars that often, it's not my kind of thing, but from what I remember of this place, it's got all of the elements to make it a textbook example --- so dive bar lovers, you'd probably be a fan of this place. But I can't justify or bring myself to give ANY dive bar more than 2-stars.

They have the old school jukebox tucked by the entryway; the obligatory pool table; a shitty 15" tube television hung on a steel rack in a ceiling corner playing the movie "Hairspray"; rustic, dark and dirty decor, dim lighting; disgusting restrooms that smell like high tide + the public mens' restroom at Santa Monica beach.

Service is okay. Not super friendly, but they get the job done.

Who let the trash out and spilled it all over Woodman and Moorpark Avenues?  I can't tell if the Green Frog is simply another lame jock bar, or perhaps an awful attempt at a swank dive.  And please don't call me a poor sport,  because I live close and I have tried many times to get into the groove of this place.  I brought friends, they hated it.  We left after one drink.
The Green Frog is poorly designed.   The bar itself is an annoying zigzag, which makes it impossible to signal the bartenders for another drink.   The leather booths are OK, but they are a total mismatch with the remaining decor.  I'd give it only one star, but its close to the Chimney Sweep, and that's pretty cool.

Well, what can I say that my fellow Yelpers haven't covered...  Um, the bartender was pretty cute?  That was the Frog's only redeeming quality.

$3.50 for a bud light draft during happy hour in a bar who's bathrooms stunk of musty piss.  Yeah...  Um...  No.  Thanks, but no.

Yet another lovely addition to the Valley dive bar scene!

Darkly lit, leather booths, a pool table and nice people. In fact I have only gotten into 2, maybe 3 bar fights here and let's be honest they had it coming ;)

Just moved into the area and found this place. First off, it's within walking distance to where I live - plus. Second - it's a dive bar - which I like - another plus.

You read all these reviews about people claiming to like dive bars, but the Frog is below their standards. Well, to that, I say they don't really LIKE dive bars. There definition is skewed.

The Green Frog is the classic dive bar - it's got it's own crowd, a pool table, darts, juke box, people are NOT pretentious.

The whole point of going to a dive bar is to go to a place where nobody cares what the bar smells like. You go to a dive bar to get your drink on, meet other people who have other stuff going on than complaining about the smell of the bar.

All the people I've met there so far are really cool. And yes, the bartenders are smoking and not snobby - my favorite type :)

As far as the price of the drinks, I don't judge price of drinks on "where" they are served, I judge on what you get for the price you pay. Having said that, the prices are very consistent all the bars I've been to in LA

If you see me there, come on over, next round is on me

There's being a dive bar and then there's being a total shithole that should possibly be condemned.  Sometimes I'm in the mood for the latter, but not often.  That's more of a New York thing.

The Green Frog seems cool in concept, and it would be great if their prices matched the utter squalor of the surroundings and mediocre, irritated service.  Sadly, it falls terribly short.  It also doesn't help that going there on a weekend is like begging to have some trashy guy grab your ass for the entertainment of his frat brothers.

Not cool at all, but a possible alternative if the Foxfire is too crowded.

this place sucks man, it could be a cool dive bar, but man dive bars just dont get it. So on the weekend this place gets pretty crowded, but the drink prices are pretty expensive for a whole in the wall dive bar. $6 beers wtf, those are hollywood prices, what happened to the good old days when you could get a beer for like $2. This place has a pool table and some darts, dude how bout they get rid of  the darts and the stupid pool table and instead bring down drink prices and invest in a jukebox.

Maybe I am just not the dive bar type of girl.

So ill ask a few dive bar questions:

Do they always smell like wet dogs on a 90 degree day?

Does everyone always stare at you when you walk in?

And specifically, why doesn't the dive bar match their prices? My SO mentioned the other day: "Babe, why is green frog just as expensive as any other bar in this city?"

And I sat there, wondering to myself, maybe they have high drink prices because they are trying to get rid of the awful smell, or fix their torn, sticky booths... I mean really, how expensive is some soap on a rag?

Even though this bar is a walk away, you don't find me walking over to the good ole SMELLY frog on any day or on any occasion. It smells and ugly people are not fun to watch when they are watching you.

This place has a nice selection of beers on tap which is always a huge plus. It was pretty dead tonight but it seems like a good place. It seemed to be a gun n roses night musically which is nice. It's also very close to the chimney sweep which is nice. Since it was pretty dead I can't comment on the people who go here so I may add a star next time i go here.
