"Of the few knitting shops I've been to, I would have to say this is my favorite. The owner, Erin, is super friendly and so are the staff.…" read more »
This is a great neighborhood quilting store. They have a good selection of fabric -- everything from vintage prints to minky. EQB is larger, but this store is more personable. The staff are very friendly and helpful, The classes are well run, and there are a variety to choose from. There are solid color fabrics as well. It is worth at least one visit to check out what they offer... and I am certain you'll keep returning for more.
It's not that this store doesn't have fabrics, but the selection is rather countryish and kid-oriented, so it's definitely for a particular audience. Unfortunately for them, I don't fit into that audience, so I just looked around and left without anything. There were maybe a few fabrics I might have considered buying if I didn't already have them, and they were in the clearance bin in the back! Also, they don't carry any solid color fabrics. The staff seemed nice and all, but I just didn't find anything I wanted or needed here.
Actually, this is one of the best fabric/quilting stores I have visited (and I seen ones all across the country as well as Canada). The staff are friendly and helpful. When I was in, a beginning quilting class for kids was going on -- merely one of hundreds of classes offered throughout the year. The displays of finished quilts are extraordinary -- and they teach you how to make each of them. By the way, The Granary has bolts and bolts and bolts including solids -- just ask, and someone will lead you to what you need. And, in the oft chance they don't carry what you're seeking they'll help you locate a shop that does.
