Went back to the Goat for dinner recently. Dinner was tasty and the service was great.

I have a qualm with their Happy Hour. If you sit in the dining room, you do not get the Happy Hour prices on drinks. You're spending more money on dinner, but you're not going to get the discount on drinks? That doesn't make sense.

We started our evening at the bar, great, strong martinis with a few nice appetizers.

When we moved on to dinner, though, the food was completely uninteresting. Some in our party got a chicken dish that was very very plain and under seasoned and the Artichoke Florentine was thick, overly creamy and essentially a plate full of dip you were to eat with a fork.

    I would not go back.

Driving through Hagerstown over Thanksgiving week and went out of our way a bit to stop  at The Goat for breakfast. Great deli with simple but large breakfast and lunch selections and everything is fresh and tasty. All the coffee/tea/hot drinks you could imagine. And service was super friendly!

24 hours and 700 miles after my family left The Goat, I realized I had forgotten my purse there, and the owner was unnecessarily kind and helpful to meet me on a night they were closed to make sure I got it back.

    I'll be sure to return!!

First the good: Nice bar experience, extensive selection of martinis, decent if somewhat overpriced appetizers, and a friendly bartender.  A solid 3 stars.  If we had left after happy hour all would have been well.

Dinner, however, was a resounding disappointment.  I had the Artichoke Florentine, which essentially was T.G.I. Friday's spinach & artichoke dip you can buy in the freezer section of your local grocer, but served as a main course along with a side salad and priced at $15.

My dining companions reported bland and uninspired entrees, one of them ranting about "paying $14 for a plain chicken breast."  Bottom line: I'd go back for happy hour but dinner there is to be avoided.

The Gourmet Goat is one of my favorites for breakfast, lunch, drinks or dinner. The food, whether a sandwich or wrap at lunch or any of tapas and entrees at dinner, is always fresh and well prepared. The service is great and the atmosphere is inviting.

My lunchtime favorites include the Bow tie pasta salad, chicken salad, tuna salad and any of the coffee drinks they serve. My dinner favorites are the Crab puffs, Chesapeake Fries and the Pasta Primavera. They have great martinis and wine selection...if you're into that, and if you can make it for the Sunday Brunches (every second Sunday of the month) the omelets are awesome.

I've eaten at the Goat a lot over the past three years and have never been disappointed! Definitely one of the best dining experiences in Hagerstown, MD!

Everything here was really nice and fresh.  Great dill potato salad (though very rich), homemade chick noodle soup, yummy blt and tuna melt.  Oh, it's the next day, but I'm still drooling over the "better than sex" chocolate peanut butter cake... foodgasm.

Next time I'm back in Hagerstown, definitely going to try the place for martinis and dinner.

Friendly service and good coffee.  Always a lot of people you know hanging out.  Lunch too.  Can't beat the Goat in downtown H-town.

Good restaurant in downtown Hagerstown.  We had a meeting there this week went back later in week for dinner and had the duck.  I have not made up my mind yet, need to sample more of the menu/options.
