Located in Union Station, a touristy mall in mid-town St. Louis, it has a fantastic location near the main parking lot entrance that show-cases the uniqueness of the business.
Easy to spot, you are drawn to the shop by the gentlemen who is working the fudge. The two evenings we walked thru the mall, he was there putting on a show, interacting with potential customers.
Everyone who works there was engaged and enthusiastic. The lady on cash told us about the retail chain, as a proud associate. Nice to see.
The "show" included singing, some one-liners and some fancy work with the still liquid fudge - and oh yeah, the best part - samples!
Here's a hint for you - watch the show and listent to the deals. They are better after the show than if you just walk up and buy at other times.
In case you are wondering - the fudge is good too. :-)
Would I return: Yes - but I'd try to make sure I'm there at a time they are working the fudge - no idea if that's an all day thing, but seems to happen throoughout the evenings.
Would I recommend: Yes. -

While exploring the desolate Union Station, I noticed a large crowd of people gathered at the end of the concourse. I had to see what all the hubbub was about.
The Fudgery is a one-of-a-kind shop specializing in handmade fudge. They even do live demonstrations which include audience participation. Equipped with a large marble slab table and giant spatula, the chef flips and mixes the fudge right in front of your eyes. He even creates the Gateway Arch during his flipping process! In addition, the chef has vocal games for the audience to play while he works, and heckles you if you don't participate. As the 15 minute process ends, the whole staff sings a soul-tuned song about fudge. It was a riot!
Free samples were given out afterwards, and of course, fudge discounts. If you buy three pounds of fudge, you get two free. Guess who left with five pounds of fudge?
Having grown up with homemade fudge, I'm picky about my sweets. However, The Fudgery cooked up some great flavors and texture. The only downside was the chef said fudge was about $7.00 / lb. My receipt said it was $14.00 / lb.!
I recommend getting the following:
- chocolate with nuts
- maple nut
- peanut butter (it has peanut butter swirled inside the fudge)
- cookies & creamListed in: St. Louis for Tourists

Whistle while you work. *wheww pheww phoow phoow ooo oooo*
If Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was a story about mining for fudge, the Brother's Grimm might very well have had more than a passing fancy to The Fudgery at Union Station.
A (few) year(s) ago (now - which is how long this review has been in my queue), I was in town as a groomsman for my college roommate's wedding and had gotten some tips on things to visit in St. Louis. Union Station and the Fudgery were two of them. While admittedly only tourists and little kids would mill around the Fudgery, the fudge makers classy showmanship, singing, and dancing whilst whipping up some fudge presented a wonderful show.
It was just plain good ol' fun and the fudge was pretty good to boot.

Good place for a treat! Enthusiastic and fun staff who interacted with customers and kids and made for a good time. Candied apples are fresh and delicious, and the fudge is ridiculous. Thanks!

Good fudge and fun experience! This place is full of life and soul with the singing fudge man. The cookie dough fudge and the chocolate/peanut butter swirl fudge were the best from here.
Tip: Go towards closing time. They give buy 2, get 1 free and other discounts b/c it's the end of the day and they're trying to get rid of the fudge. -

Oh, what would a visit to Union Station be if it weren't for the shouting, singing, dancing exuberance that is the Fudgery. Honestly, I've never purchased any fudge, but based on the samples it is mighty delicious.
Maybe it's for the same reason I have trouble tipping at Cold Stone making the employees feign excitement in their happy i-just-got-tipped song, or maybe it's because one small square of fudge is actually enough for my euphoric chocolatey self in one evening, but I've somehow never made the big jump to spending my hard-earned dollars on the fantastic fudge.
But I don't want you to follow my example if you feel inclined to order the fudge. Take a sample, sing a duet with a happy Fudgerikin, and if you feel compelled, grab yourself a to-go back of fudge.
And, since I just found out this a national chain (another blow to what I previously thought was a childhood unique experience), you can get more fudge in one of 32 convenient locations in over 15 states nation wide.
One can only assume your gleeful response to the Fudgery spectacle will be easily reproducible elsewhere. But for me, the true Fudgery will always be in St. Louis. (Even though they're from North Carolina) -

One of the first places my family and I went to when we came to STL was Union Station, and even to this day, I will go here just for kicks.
The workers here are just GREAT. I love the fact that they sing and dance, and my favorite part, TAUNT people all the time. It's hilarious! Oh yeah, the fudge is great too, and I really don't like chocolate!
I would say this is the heart of St. Louis, but it's a franchise company-- boo! -

The people here are good showmen and singers and the bf likes the fudge. If you're in the area, get some fudge for your family. Everybody likes fudge.

I love this place. I especially love the entertainment that goes with the place when they're making the fudge! That alone is enough to come visit this place. But I digress - the fudge is really good too. Really sweet but not overpowering. And a lot of choices to make. Yummy!
