I heart this place & am so glad it opened here in Oakland not far from where I live.
My friend put me onto membership here, where you pay $95/year and then get deep discounts every time you visit, 30% during your birthday month and one-time 50% as a birthday present. I called at the end of my birthday month, since I forgot about the special and didn't have my email in the system to get a reminder, and they said I could use the next month for the specials since I missed it, as a thanks for being a member.
Membership makes me want to come more often to take care of myself, and while I went about 4 of 5 times my first year, which makes the membership worth it (it's nice to spread out the cost), my goal is to go at least monthly this year, to help keep my stress levels down & health up.
I was worried that the quality of massages wouldn't be consistent since so many folks work & go here, but every single time I've been has been top quality, and I always leave wanting to melt right into my bed afterwards, with the best sleep ever, especially when the foot reflexology is included, it's dreamy.
Chinese massages are definitely a little bit more yang than the relaxing Swedish style that some folks in the U.S. are used to, but they absolutely do the job & leave me incredibly relaxed, balanced and aligned, and the therapists will adjust to how you like it, just let them know at the beginning.
I highly recommend the combos, and you can ask for more body massage time and less foot time if you want, they'll accommodate. I don't mind the communal heavenliness happening nearby, but it would be nice to have a bigger and more open space, since they're popular and could grow into a bigger space.
I absolutely love that they're open late until 10pm 7 days a week, thank you! -

The front desk staff & owner is unprofessional and treat customers like they are mom and pop operation. No business etiquette and are curt. First off, I have a membership there $95/yr and willing to take my losses with them when I have 6 more months with them. I stopped going after October.
NINA who I only met once in the evening on a friday is so curt and has no customer service. I think she needs to attend further training or stay in the back and wash the utncils when the staff takes their lunch breaks. I arrived early to check in, and had a friend with me, that I introduced the services to. Instead of telling me she has checked me in and someone will be right with me, she says, "Do you need something." I walked away because I felt embarassed by her bad customer service.
Furthermore, Christine, one of the owners tried to argue with me when the other staff told me I have a 50% discount for a birthday month I couldn't use due to the limited availaility they had for appointments. She continued on and on and researched all my past purchases there just to prove a point.
All in all I informed all 6 of my friends to no longer attend this place until they can do business the real American way. -

Excellent service and talented staff...
Completed my first 90 minute foot reflexology & body combo at this establishment. So glad that I found this place - I'll definitely return. Leo was my masseur and was friendly, talented, and focused. I will ask for him again when I return. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, too.
Minor suggestions...
As a first time client, I'd have appreciated an overview of the services I could expect on the day of my appointment (foot reflexology downstairs in my street clothes, body massage upstairs sans clothes - I had assumed I'd be getting a robe/slippers or else I wouldn't have worn jeans that I had to roll up for the reflexology). But it's my bad, I could have asked what to expect when making the appt. over the phone.
The tea that I was served while waiting for my appt. seemed like an afterthought. It might be nice to have clients pick the kind of tea that we'd want based on the kind of experience we'd like to have (relaxing, calming, energizing, etc.).
The foot reflexology room is set up like a pedicure place - chairs tightly lined in a row and bright overhead lights. They could improve the ambiance by lowering the lights and offering an eye pillow during the reflexology session. The running water and new age music helped muffle the sounds of the patrons at the front desk.
The lotions and oils that were used for reflexology and body massage were unscented. I supposed this is a plus for clients sensitive to fragrances, but a nice lavender scented oil would help with the overall calming effect of the massage.
Overall...
Excellent visit with some minor room for improvement. I'll definitely be heading back for an appointment with Leo! -

Hmm...I don't think I knew what I was getting myself into when I signed up for the 75-minute combo package (50 minute foot reflexology massage + 25 minute body massage) for $40 on LivingSocial.
Let me start from the beginning. The storefront was inviting, and the environment inside was tranquil with the zen music and the sounds of the water fountain. A perfect setting for relaxation. I was offered a cup of pre-brewed tea (which does not seem fitting for the business name, since it implies you get to choose) and asked to fill out your basic form and sign off on liability.
Although I was early, I was brought in 10 minutes to start my appointment. I was instructed to plop my feet into this warm tub of solution as my masseuse kneaded my shoulders and back. Then, the calves and feet. This area has 7 big comfy chairs.
The full body massage took place in a room upstairs with only a curtain providing for privacy -- which didn't lend to the zen mood they're trying to promote when you hear conversations and footsteps the entire time. The pressure seems a bit excessive at times, even though I asked for medium pressure. I didn't realize it was the Asian-style acupressure massage (like the chair massages in malls), which was entirely new to me. A lot of slapping, smacking, and elbowing. I much prefer the relaxing type that lulls me to sleep. The elbows (felt sharp against my muscles!) and forearms were abundantly used...to my dismay.
I still tipped $20 because of all the effort by my masseuse. Maybe my muscles benefited from all the pressure, but my shoulders are still a bit achy hours later. Boy, was she strong! -

This place is a lifesaver! Amazing prices, long hours (10 a.m.-10 p.m.) and great massages. I tried it the 1st time on a recommendation (they have enticing introductory prices) and then did it again on a Living Social coupon. After that I decided to become a member ($95/person, $179/couple) for a year membership. When you walk in, you get a cup of hot tea, then are taken into an open room where you soak your feet in hot water then get massaged while seated and leaning against a cushion. Then you lay back in the chair while they work on your feet, calves and legs. The body massages are great. You undress (at first I thought they would massage you through your clothes which is common with Chinese massage places) and the massage pressure is as deep or light as you ask for. The massage therapists are all Chinese guys and have a no-nonsense approach.
The member specials are an unbeatable value. I get the 75 minute Foot Reflexology & Body Combo for $48 (an additional 20% off if you go Tuesday- Thursday). I work hard and play hard, and I really need regular massage and pampering. Love this place, plus it's right down the street from Coach Sushi :) -
Review from Ani C.
In a word, excellent.
The spa is clean and modern, they follow massage protocol..ie ask you where you have had injuries, pain etc. The employees speak English (sorry, but communication is a big plus!)
I had the 75 minute foot reflexology and full body massage. The service from start to finish was wonderful. My masseuse was very mindful of where I wanted him to focus on. 3 days later, and I still feel like million bucks! (Wish I had it though!) He really got out all my knots!
A bit pricey compared to other reflexology places, (so what! i'm cheap) But the space and service certainly make it worth while.
and trust me, I'm an elite :)) -

Decided to try them after hearing from a friend that she loved to come here.
Unfortunately, I have serious reservations about the training my masseuse had received, as the massage I was given was so very different than ANY other massage I've ever had. Must admit that the only other Chinese massages I've had before have been limited to leg massages associated with pedicures, so maybe that's part of why the two-part massage (a la LivingSocial offer) was not what I expected and have experienced in the past (have had lots of other non-Chinese full body massages, as well as foot reflexology, previously):
The initial back and leg massage took place in a very crowded room with no privacy. (In retrospect, I probably should have expected this part.)
Throughout, there was a LOT of fast pounding and pinching, rather than kneading, of muscles. This included heavy pounding on places--like front of knees and other joints--that might be sensitive (mine were).
For anyone trying for the first time, I would be sure to communicate in advance if you DON'T want heavy pounding, especially on joints (seems kind of high-risk). Also, if you do decide to try them (their prices ARE low), be CLEAR--again in advance--about ANY areas that MIGHT be sensitive and which you don't want to be pounded on. Communications in advance is key, as my masseuse really did not understand what I tried to tell her.
As others have mentioned, minimal feeling of privacy in the tiny full body massage cubicles, which have only a drape separating you from the rest of clients and workers.
I did not feel all that relaxed right after my massage yesterday, and today my back feels tight and is sore to the touch (not the "good soreness" feeling); definitely not the positive effects I've had from other massages.
Altogether, would definitely not repeat the full body massage--MIGHT at some point consider trying the first part of the massage with a different masseuse (wish I'd asked my friend for a name) and strong clarification of NO pounding or pinching. But, will have to see how I feel in a few days... -

I had a nice time getting a foot massage treatment here & would give the spa 3 1/2 stars. It's a great value, and the service is very good. The neck and shoulder massage were very good. I liked the foot massage- but sometimes it was tickly or not enough pressure. The tea was nice.

Cheap and clean!
Took my family and they loved it too. Cheap and clean. The front desk person is very nice.
One star off only because the space needs to be wider. Doesn't feel like there's any privacy downstairs or upstairs. -

I absolutely love this place! I have been a member since July and treat myself at least twice a month. They offer amazing deals for members, including 30% off your entire birthday month. The Foot Spa provides a comfortable and peaceful environment, and who doesn't love a warm cup of tea to accompany pampering? What I love most is the consistency. I have never left disappointed, and I recommend for everyone to give this place a try! Just remember to have cash if your service is less than $25, they won't accept a credit card.

I got a deal on living social for $40 for a 75 minute foot and full body massage-- and i just left extremely happy. At first I was sorta disappointed because they took me to a communal area where I got a quick neck/back massage and then the woman, Lilly, started working on my feet. I thought that was going to be it-- but I was wrong! Then they took me to the back for a traditional full body massage. Lilly did not speak any English but the front desk girl explained to her that I wanted her to focus on my neck, head, and shoulders as that is where I hold all my stress. She did an amazing job. I was happy with the pressure and her professionalism. I will recommend this place to friends-- and I would love to join their membership, but might not be able to take full advantage as I have a baby and might not have the time.
Highly recommend Lilly. Oh and I had their apple oblong tea and it was delicious. I was even served a 2nd cup and their cucumber water was also very refreshing.
Good prices and good massages.
My only criticism is that staff should explain the process while booking the appointment or once you get there. Otherwise everyone was very friendly and professional. -

I had a massage with Peter and he was fantastic. Instead of moving on he really took the time to work on my problem areas. Someone interrupted once which was confusing but the quality of the massage and the price more than made up for the little idiosyncracies.

OK, so since my last review the owner contacted me and went out of her way to schedule appointments for my boyfriend and I. She comped the massages and we were both really happy. I am happy to be able to give them another chance and I was very impressed with the skill of the massage therapists. Neither of us would have gone back, but now we would both go again.

A friend of mine got a great price for two at this place off of the site "Living Social". I was a little hesitant at first because I've had bad experiences at other massage places in the past, always expensive and without receiving a good massage. I like the deep tissue massages and wasn't confident that they would do that..anyway's, we walk in for our appt. at 10am. The staff was just arriving, and ushered us right in and totally made us feel welcome. The guy at the front desk gave us a little questionnaire to fill out while making our tea. Very nice. They sat us down in a chair facing backwards and gave us a big pillow to lean on. It was very comfortable. Two guys came over to give us a back massage. It was amazing! Finally, I got the deep tissue massage I had wanted for years! He asked what pressure I wanted, and he did it exactly right. After the back massage they turned us around and started working on our feet, hands, and legs..omg..I was in heaven!!! When that was finished I thought they were done..and that was it..boy, was I wrong! They led us into a separate room and laid us face down on a massage table..I got the best full body massage I've ever had!!! I cannot wait to go back! The prices are very reasonable and you leave there feeling so light and relaxed it's incredible!!!

This place is amazing. I booked a 1.5 hour session of foot reflexology and full body massage for myself and my husband. We both loved it! The masseuse knew his schtuff and hit all the perfect spots with just the right amount of pressure.
Enjoy some fine teas - pre-brewed at the front so you can't pick and choose which one you'll have, although the lady seemed perfectly fine with someone else asking for an individual cup of a different selection, I didn't want to inconvenience her (and the Jasmine Tea was exceptional!).
Foot reflexology was good. It started was a soak in a warm water bath while the masseuse worked on upper shoulders and arms. If you're ticklish, you may not like this option. Worked out calves, ankles, feet and toes. This occurred in a large living room-type setting with others being worked on at the same time. This was followed by a very long and relaxing full body massage on table (or chair at your preference) in a private room. Again, the masseuse was great with pressure and working on places that really needed it without direction from me. Full body massage is in separate rooms, so don't expect a couples treatment to be side-by-side beyond the foot reflexology.
As for accessibility: Don't expect to get a wheelchair much farther than the front door. Even the lobby area is too small for maneuverability. Furniture in the living room area had to be shuffled around (we're talking large couches and sofa chairs) for me to squeeze by. The private massage rooms are not large enough to get a wheelchair into due to the table inside. Curtain closures, so you could potentially get behind a curtain to dress and transfer with moderate privacy. I did not attempt to use the restrooms, which were in the far back. The entire place was quite dark. There was either very very dim lighting or no lighting at all. The individual massage rooms were SO dark I could barely find my glasses at the end of the session. I don't recommend this particular spa for individuals with limited vision who also require adequate lighting.
Staff was great about my needs as a person with a disability, showing no concern or issues with my husband assisting me to dress/undress and transfer for all treatments. During the table massage the masseuse asked me to turn over from my stomach to my back at the end of the treatment. I am unable to do this on my own and told him I'd need help from my husband. He, however, was in a different room still receiving his massage and the masseuse didn't want to interrupt. The masseuse was very gentle and kind in offering his assistance and following direction to turn me over onto my back to finish the massage.
Why not five stars?
-Lack of accessibility. It matters a great deal, and while I went to the Spa fully aware from my phone conversation that the place was small, it's 2011 and I shouldn't expect to settle for unequal access 21 years after the ADA. This is a civil rights issue. I deserve the same services even if I am in a wheelchair.
-It would have been nice if individual cups of tea were offered from the beginning, rather than being given a cup of their tea-of-the-day and having the burden upon myself to ask for her to make a separate batch. It's a tea bar. I expected selection and options to be the norm.
-It isn't because of the lack of masseuse services. These guys and ladies know how to massage! -
Review from Rowena D.
I must admit... I'm a bit of massage junkie... deep tissue elitist. I know a good masseuse from an average one - and 20 minutes into my massage, I decided that Tina was my new best friend.
I prefer my deep tissue massages with the hardest - humanly possible - pressure that one's body can expel onto my own... and I'm convinced that Tina must have broken a sweat when kneading the knots out of my shoulder blades and upper back. All of the positive energy she worked INTO ME pushed all of the bad energy OUT OF ME... and I left feeling calm and tenderized.
FIVE STARS FOR TINA!
-1 because I prefer private rooms over curtained dividers. BUT, if that's what keeps their prices low (which - trust me - they are comparatively low), I will gladly continue to accept that tradeoff. -

My first experience here was a little scary -- they really push you around during your massage, bend your body to its limit, almost beyond. It's also odd that they make you sign a form to waive your right to sue in case of injury (I think that was the main thrust of the form, it's been a while since I went). I'd say stay away if you think you might have osteoporosis issues!
I've been looking for a good reflexology therapist since a friend who lives far away told me she finds reflexology very helpful. I don't think this is the place. -

Living Social voucher. If you're looking for luxury and private rooms, this is not the place for you. 75minutes for leg/foot massage in a communal room and then a body massage separated by curtains ..that's what is in store for you. Not bad for $40 discounted experience.I wish they had an extra blanket during the body massage since removal of clothes was involved, and when you flip on your back, the thin sheet did not cover the chee chees. I had to hide my area with my hands.

My mother (bless her) got me a $100 gift certificate to the Foot Spa and Tea Bar for valentine's day. They granted me the new client lower prices, so I received a 90-minute combination of foot and body massage for about $49. My masseuse was fantastic: professional, asked where I needed the most work (and how much pressure I like), and gave a great massage. It was so relaxing.
The tea that they offer is good and sets the tone off right! My only gripe would be a little lack of privacy for a spa in the foot massage room, but it was still so quiet that I didn't notice.
I highly recommend them!! I will definitely be returning. -

It is a simple no frills place but you will not get a better massage for the price. I come a few times a month and have not been disappointed although some practitioners are better than others.

For $49 - I am a mo'effin FAN!
Listen here - for the intro price of $49 this is FAN-tastic.
And no its not a ploy to get your to sign up for a 6 month membership or anything like that. In fact, there was absolutely no pressure of sale from my experience. I actually sought out the info rather than getting a sales pitch. That's a plus right there.
They serve a special tea in the front when you do your paperwork and when you are having your foot reflexology done. There is a lofty lazy boy couch area where the magic happens. Its relaxing and you can fall asleep there.
I did the $49 which was a 50 MIN foot massage and 20 MIN body massage. I added 15 mins for $15 which gave me a total of 1 and a half hours of pampering for the price of $64 (exclusive of tip of course).
Area of improvement: The walk from downstairs to the upstairs body massage area is less than desirable. I wish the tranquil, zen-like facade from the front area trickled its way through the back and upstairs. But hey --- I shall repeat--- ONE AND A HALF HOURS OF PAMPERING for $64. I also like deep tissue massages - and this tiny woman had the hands of 6 women combined. Excellent!
My recommendations to you: Get the $49, add extra body massage time, oh and when it comes to the foot massage - ask them to focus on your upper back/neck/shoulders at the chair at no additional cost or time. A big TIP: a few of them do not have an extensive English vocabulary. So when you sign in, they give you a laminated picture of the body where you circle the areas of focus-- they go off that drawing so be honest & clear on that drawing. This will avoid you extra explaining later and it will make your experience seamless.
Happy cost-efficient pampering! -

I have been going here often since they opened but lately they have deteriorated a lot. The place is not clean and often they do not have your appointment right when you arrive. The front desk attendants are polite, but not on top of it. They often mess up appointments and schedules.
Forget the tea bar. You might get a cup of generic tea if they have time and remember. Massage workers are good and you are told to tip them which suggests they are not getting paid sufficiently. The place no longer feels ok to me-more like the workers and the customers are being exploited. Sometimes o.k., but more and more not a good experience. -

I don't like people touching me. Particularly strangers. It took 3 years of living in California to deal with the west coast hug instead of hand shake phenomenon...and luckily most of my friends finally get that I just don't need to be hugged every time I see you. (or they know now).
That said - I've avoided massages like the plague. Pedicures, yes. Facials, yes. Lying naked on a table while some stranger touches you...uhhh, no.
Then Mama Marie made an appointment for me here and didn't really give me an option of going. Probably because I had a knot in my back that stuck out like a tumor and was starting to make me look like Quasimodo.
This massage, I enjoyed. So first - you start with 30 minutes of reflexology - which starts with 8 minutes of rubbing your back while your feet soak. Then, you sink into a big, cozy chair and your feet and legs are massaged - sigh. If you somehow manage to not fall asleep, you can drink some tea. But you probably will fall asleep.
Then you're whisked away for 30 minutes of body massage - but here's the deal...if you're like me, you're not thinking about the fact that you're being touched, you're just so excited to be in a quiet dark space to rest. Well, for the minute until they whip every knot into submission. They make a HUGE difference in just 30 minutes on my shoulders, back and hips - both times I've been, I've felt so relaxed....and totally willing to deal with being touched. -

My boyfriend and I came here for foot massages.
Pros: It's very cutely decorated and has a very relaxing atmosphere. The foot soak and neck/back rub were a nice addition to the foot massage. The massage overall felt very good. My masseuse used the amount of pressure I asked for and practically made me fall asleep (in a good way). The soothing music and water fountain definitely attributed to the relaxing aura of the place.
Cons: The amount of people in the same area for foot rubs made it slightly crowded. It actually didn't add to the noise at all; I hadn't noticed that other people had arrived until I opened my eyes because the masseuses whisper and don't really talk throughout the massage, but it just wasn't as private as I would have liked. Also, they forgot to give us tea so we had to ask for it after, it would have been nice to get it before or during the massage.
We paid the introductory price of $35 for an hour, I'm not sure if I would pay the full price for the same service. Members get a great discount apparently, so if you live close to this place, it may be worth it to get a membership.
I'd like to try a full body massage here, as the reviews for them seem to be great. -

I've been meaning to get a massage for a long time so I picked up a Groupon for my BF and me as a gift for us. We made an appointment for the first and filled out the proper paperwork on arrival.
I was lucky because my massage therapist understood that I was in pain so he went gentler on what I had originally asked. The full body massage starts out with you soaking your feet in hot tea, then they massage you on the back and front. Then they massage your feet which is quite funny. I did enjoy reading about all of the pressure points on your feet. Who knew so much can be relieved just by a foot massage?
The next step in a full body massage is they take you upstairs where they do your back some more and the areas specifically notified on the paperwork. You can decide if you want to be clothed or not.
The atmosphere is soothing and you do feel a lot more relaxed once you leave. My experience was a little better than my BF's so I'm giving them four stars for that reason. It was definitely worth the Groupon rate...I would probably go back at the full price rate as well but only once or maybe twice a year. -

I thought that being a "tea bar" they'd have a bit more of a selection instead of what's brewing in a single pot. I guess my imagination took me to an actual bar setting with different kinds of tea to choose from before getting your foot & massage treatment. So I have to deduct one star for that. I'd like to see more of a variety or at least 2-4 to choose from.
We didn't know what to expect when we visited this place with another couple. The pkg we bought started w/ a pretty decent back and shoulder massage as our pretty lil' tired feet soaked in a bucket of hot to warm water that gave the rest of my body some warmth (+ one star). Then from there, our feet treatment began as we sat in these comfy lazy boys. Once your eyes shut & your mind drifts u won't even remember where you're at (+ another star).
It wasn't over yet as our 25 minute body massage (which seemed longer tho) was up next in separate rooms divided by curtains. Nicely done w/ our massages as the lady concentrated on what I had marked that needed attention. I felt even more relaxed after only a few minutes into it (+ another).
And I'll leave it there since I wish I can add one more for ambiance (although lighting was just right) and the lay out inside & for the tea that was served. But the people were really nice...so it's really a three and half star for me. -

We have tried this place twice and had big hopes for it as it is right down the street and the prices seem ok. The front desk attendant was super nice and they have lots of choices of tea, I like green tea. Not a big deal but both times the tea was not seeped long enough so it was almost like drinking just hot water. The first time they were able to fit us into a tight schedule same day and the second time we just walked in. It's cozy inside and nicely decorated and the chairs are big and comfy. We enjoyed the music, it was quite relaxing.
So we got a 30 min foot package which includes a little full body over the clothes work as well which is a nice surprise. The services was just ok and sometimes painful. It felt like they really are dis-interested and seem to rush thru it with fast sometimes painful movements.
So understanding that it was just $35 for the 30 minutes we werent expecting a world class massage but my feeling is if your going to pay for a massage they should be interested and in tune with the work. -

Walnut Creek, CA
Happy Ending for Susan? Get your mind out of the gutter folks. Actually this is a happy beginning. Sometimes when the universe is telling you something, you should listen. Monday, my co-worker was recommending this place. Tuesday, Groupon has a deal on this place. Wednesday, Susan is getting her butt kicked at this place - but in a good way.
When I first walked in, I was greeted by a very nice gal and offered tea while I filled out my info. So far so good. I barely had my first sip of tea and my masseuse was ready for me. I followed her into an area with big chairs and she instructed me to sit not on the big comfy chair but on the ottoman in front of it. I looked at her, she looked at me - yup she wanted me on the ottoman, where I very carefully dipped my feet into hot tea. OUCH and the AAAAAHHHHH. Don't worry, it wasn't the tea I was drinking.
I was worried at first finding what I was experiencing so far as a massage version of a mani/pedi experience at most nail salons, but then her magic hands went to work. I was thumped, tapped, and massaged on the ottoman hunched over a rectangular cushion. Was this my body massage? (Here's a tip, wear loose clothing so they can work on you, they do not have wraps or robes to offer you). Thankfully I was wearing a t-shirt and sweats.
After a little while it was time for the foot massage/reflexology. I have never had reflexology done, but she knew what she was doing! As I desperately tried not to get the giggles while she was working on my feet, I felt immense pain and pleasure all at the same time. I am an extremely tense person and this foot massage almost knocked me out entirely. Very refreshing!
She was finishing up and I thought okay, I guess that was it - but nope, I got my full-body massage! Yay! My masseuse really had strong hands and fingers and did a pretty good job trying to break up my knots. Granted it's a little weird when your masseuse actually gets on the massage table and straddles you to work out your knots - but hey, we're all grown ups here (giggle).
The only irritating thing was the usual salon sales pitch of "You need to come in more." I think she said it a total of 9 times. It's okay, I forgive her.
I had purchased the 75-min foot and body combo and it was worth it! I got a sweet deal on Groupon, but I would totally pay the normal price. It's very reasonable for what you get.
I will definitely be back and I hope sooner rather than later. -

My Fred Flintstone feet have not felt this good in years. Like Fred's, my feet are the foundation of a large frame. They bear the wear and tear of 3-mile hikes on the weekends, the injustice of unreasonably narrow shoes, and the brunt of a large woman on the go. While I don't use them to stop my car, I do abuse them barefooted all the time!
So when I stepped into The Foot Spa, the feet were in shock and awe. With suspicion they began to relax when the warm and friendly women behind the reception counter offered soothing tea on a cold rainy day. By the time I plunged them into the warm tea bath, they realized they weren't being waterboarded but indeed treated to a luxury bath. My masseuse applied exactly the pressure I indicated on the chart. Their inner spirit seemed to come back to life at her touch, with each touch and rub the dead stumps began to cry, "Yabbba dabbba doooooooo."
Unlike Bedrock, The Foot Spa and Tea Bar offers a warm and cozy environment. The chairs are the kind you want to sink into for a long nap or read under a blanket on a cold and rainy day. They provide fresh towels to sit on and everything seemed immaculately clean. My feet have not felt this alive, pain-free, and happy in years.
I highly recommend this place, so much so, I became a member. -

I also bought the Groupon deal to get a 75-minute foot and body massage here. When I scheduled the appointment, I changed the time allocated for foot/body, so I'd get a longer body massage (what I needed!).
When I checked in for my appointment, the nice receptionist behind the counter gave me a choice in tea. That was nice. I sat sipping some detox tea, while I waited for my masseuse.
I didn't realize that the foot massages took place in a communal room, right behind the front desk. Two other older women looked like dogs playing dead while their lower appendages were being kneaded. The foot massage was meh, I'm not that into them.
The body massage was okay. There's a warren of curtained off "rooms", with massage tables. I could hear the exchange between a client and her therapist right next to us. I asked if I could get a sports massage, my knots need some hard pressure! Carmen worked hard, but my sore muscles didn't get the relief they needed.
I'm a sort of connoisseur of massages, as someone afflicted with chronic upper shoulder and back pain. The ambiance of this salon was nice, but the massages didn't give me what I needed: a deep tissue workout for my knots. It wasn't a bad experience going here, but it wasn't great either. -

So, so, so amazing. Carmen was terrific and sweet. Friendly and attentive. Membership rates get you more savings. A+

Update time!
I think this place amazes me each time i go. I'm always so fascinated with each and every one of the masseuses and i purposely don't ask for a specific one so i can try them all out. Each one seems to know exactly where it hurts and knows what i need as if they share notes or something!
Or maybe i go in so much that they just know. Or maybe its all the knots i have on my body... ? Sad Face :(
Either way, it's a great time each time.
I'm looking forward to my next visit this weekend.

I think once I closed my eyes I saw the angels in heaven singing!!!!
Are you serious??? Did I just hear you say a 50 minute foot massage and a 20 minute body massage for 48 bucks?!?! WHAT???? Ohh heck...I gotta try this!!! And so I did!!!!
This was my first reflexology / chinese foot massage experience. If this is what it feels like, I must start looking into Asia for my vacations :)
All I remembered was sitting in some chair, my foot in a barrel with some hot water and me snoring!!!! To be exact...me snoring and drooling!!!!
After reading all the Yelp reviews (I love you guys) I decided to request an appointment with Sue!! Seems like she was the big hit on Yelp. And to no surprise my Yelp folks didn't steer me wrong!!!!!
Nice music playing in the background. Your choice of several teas. I don't do tea so I passed that up. Cucumber water. This place was like a day spa.
Sue worked the kinks in my neck and shoulders first, then my feet, then off to the back where I removed all my clothes for a massage. At first I was a bit intimidated as I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was, she was saying, go to the back and take off your clothes. SHUCKS...you don't have to tell me twice!!!!!
At first she was a little rough but she does frequent check ups with you and ask you how it feels. I told her a little less pressure and then OMG...she was on POINT.
And if that wasn't a slice of heaven, no lie, I think I lost some weight!! Got up from my massage put my jeans back on and I swear they were a little looser.
I will surely be back here!!! I'm wondering how can I add Sue to my payroll :) - This is a MUST TRY OAKLAND!!!!!!!! -

This was the worst massage service I've had. I came in because the 1st time rates were attractive & they sounded like they could provide a skilled massage to address a headache I had around my eye. I was told to schedule an hour & I filled out a form showing exactly what areas to focus on. The woman who took the form showed it to the masseuse & explained something to him.
He spoke no English & didn't understand where to focus his attention. I tried in vain to explain/show him the area, but he nodded without comprehension. The massage itself was very tedious, repetitive & monotonous. I understand you should expect to get what you pay for, the the website & woman I spoke with both advertised accupressure treatment & resources for particular sensitivities. When I told the scheduling woman my frustration, she offered me a discount on a second massage-but I don't plan to return. I think a better business move would have been to reduce the rate for a massage that didn't justify $55.
I was never served tea. -

Received a groupon for my birthday... Totally not what I was expecting!! Very pleasant and knowledgeable staff and excellent massage staff. Not only do they give u a whole foot and leg massage, with reflexology pushing hard on some points. Then a full back and neck massage in a nice private room.
5 stars if there was more separation from
The reception area(you can hear people from some of the treatment chairs) and the massage rooms upstairs could use real walls instead of curtains... But I'm just being somewhat over picky..
I will definitely return again. I had a 4 day neck pain, to the point where I could not fully turn my head to the right... After my session my next feels amazing and I have regained about 80% of my movement! -

What do you get a guy, who does a lot of manual labor, for his birthday? An hour foot massage and an hour body massage from "The Foot Spa and Tea Bar".
I made my reservation, for a surprise birthday massage, online and received a follow up phone call within 5 minutes. Their website is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing.
The employee took my card info and told me to be there by 10:45am.
We arrived at 10:30, I took care of the bill, they offered us their specialty teas and they saw him right away.
When I came back 2 hours later he came out in slow motion with his eyes lowered. We both relaxed in their front waiting room so he could adjust to reality and he said that he experienced one of the best massages of his life here.
Thank you for giving my boyfriend one of the best massages ever! -

I'd like to say I would come back here again, and again and again!! Here's an update to my previous review.
I've tried many different foot spas since I've been here, and no other could beat the service, ambiance, and the wonderful massage they give!!!
From the front desk of the owner to the back room of the massage therapist, they are professional and very skilled at what they do. I'm always offered a wide variety of tea which I think is absolutely excellent!!! Love their tea!!!! Then to the back room of massage therapists who really take care of you. I mean, they try to understand where your problem areas are and really work on those specifically. I think I have always came back here because I would try other different foot spas just because I'm in the area and it's been a very very horrible experience. Maybe it's because I compare them to this spa, but how could you not once you tried them.
It's a must that you try this foot spa!!!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Okay, I have to choose my words for this place. A friend and I went to this place after several other places were all booked up. You really do get what you paid for. We paid $50 for 60 minute session (30 foot massage/ 20 full body/ 10 min to chill ) the foot massage was fine, the body massage- it was a torture experience. Please understand I am built like a football player, but just because I am a bigger guy doesn't mean I want deeper than deep massage, can't I just get something smooth and relaxing instead of getting tortured. I'd have to say that there is a language barrier since I tried to explain multiple times not to go so deep, my MT continued to tear into me. I had a massive bruise the next day and could barely sleep for two days, not a great way to start my weekend. I felt even horrible for my friend who was also in worse shape than me. It was such a bad experience that it took two weeks for us to even mention the experience, it was like the white elephant in the room that wouldn't go away. So, if you care to get a massage here, I wish you all the best, otherwise reconsider and go to your regular spa/massage space.
