Lovely flowers.  Gorgeous arrangements.  Friendly service, willing to do same-day deliveries.

Chinese people are notoriously cheap about things like flowers.  I know that if i need a potted plant or just a quick arrangement for someone I can pick up something for a lot less at Trader Joes or even Safeway.  However, I also think that when you're having flowers delivered, it's worth it to have something you can consistently count on, where the quality is the finest and they go out of their way to deliver them when requested.

Flower Girl is where I always called to have flowers delivered to my grandmother when I was away at school.  For her birthday, Mother's Day, Chinese New Year, and her anniversary.  They even rememberd me and always asked  how I was doing too.  She always loved them and went on about how long they lasted, the exquisite variety, the friendly people, and more.  It is worth it to know that something this important is being handled by people who care.

The arrangements are creative and beautiful, and go beyond the typical "FTD Pick Me Up Bouquet."

They also have some nice gifts, cards, etc.  Yes, they do have little signs.  I asked what's up with those last time I was there.  Guess what, they are right near St. Anne's elementary school, and many of the children love to come to the shop to smell the flowers.  They also used to break quite a bit, which in a shop this size, can really hurt.  So this lets them know to keep their hands off.  Obviously if an adult is looking at items and needs to examine something, they should feel free to.  Why would someone be insulted by the signs?  I don't get it.  Touchy touchy!  Unless you're under 12, they're not for you!

In these days of 1-800-flowers and other online vendors, I hope local places like The Flower Girl will get lots of business so they can keep making my grandma (and me) happy!

I needed to get flowers for P's mom's birthday and wanted something classy, nice, and unique. Being the floral newbie that I am, of course I knew nothing about arrangements but I wanted something meaningful and beautiful that would work within my budget still.

This place deserves five stars if I were writing this review based solely on the associate/florist named Rosanne. She was extremely friendly, helpful, attentive, and patient (and I can't thank her enough for working with me to get the best arrangement within my budget).

So what was the reason for the one star? The boss lady who was extremely rude and seemed to lack basic customer service. She hinted to me that I was wasting her and her associate's valuable time, suggesting that I should pay a $25 consultation fee  to Rosanne for the 25 mins. she spent helping me and then said "we're very busy here . Lots to do, lots to do."

I was extremely turned off by her comments and thought it was awfully distasteful.

Did I love the bouquet that Rosanne arranged for me? Yes, absolutely.

But ask me if I would come back to this place and spend my money here? Absolutely not. The selection of flowers was minimal, and everything was marked up (especially the orchids). And that boss lady was the icing on the cake.

So why would I ever want to pay a premium at a florist? Why not go to a no-fuss Trader Joes, Safeway, or the Flower Mart? The reason why I would go to a specialized florist would be for the CUSTOMER SERVICE, of course. And the selection of special flowers. People who are not florists would appreciate florists who can school them a bit on flowers and create a beautiful arrangement of flowers they can walk out with as a happy customer and will be confident that their recipient would love it. Who would want a lackluster pick/arrangement?

But if you really must come here to get your flowers, and it's the last store opened in your vicinity, please work with Rosanne. She's absolutely wonderful.

2 stars for being open at 8:30AM.

The prices here are outrageous. Really, I buy a lot of flowers, and these were mediocre at best and shockingly expensive. I paid $50 for 7 small roses of questionable freshness. (yeah, mom's birthday, only child, you get the point.) Are they bejeweled or plated with gold?!

The same orchids you can get at Trader Joe's for $25 are $150 here. The workers are really nice, but I'm not about to pay their Saks bills. Its a safe assumption that I will never return.

I absolutely love THE FLOWER GIRL!  Their stock is always so beautiful and seasonal, and the people who work there are very nice and work with you to create the perfect arrangement or bouquet. And of course it's expensive... it's a florist, people! Flowers are a luxury. For your day to day fresh flowers to have around your house you are just as well using Safeway or Trader Joe's but for special occasions THE FLOWER GIRL is the way to go.

Flower shops in general are pleasant experiences, and this one is particularly pleasant. It is large enough that I can walk around without being terrified of knocking over a vase. Their flower selection is well thought-out and broad, but they also have a lot of beautiful pottery, cards and artwork. If you are looking for nice presents for people's houses, or if you like pottery, this place is really worth checking out. It's not cheap, but I don't know too many flower stores that are.
They would have gotten five stars except for an annoying sign placed by some of their porcelain tea pots. It was some obnoxious rhyme like, "Nice to look at, great to hold, but if you break it, it's sold!" Signs like that piss me off no end, and I can take my flower stores without that kind of 'tude, thanks. The service, however, was very helpful and friendly.
Lately this store has been closed on the weekends and it is nearly always empty when I walk by, which makes me worry that it's headed for out-of-businessville. I hope I'm wrong.
