I've had my hair cut at some of the best Deva salons on the mainland, and Keoni is as good as or better than any Deva-trained stylist. He is not wedded to the Deva cut as the only way to cut curly hair, though he is able to do a Deva cut, i.e. to cut curly hair when it's dry. The weather here is crazy for coarse hair, and he gets how to handle that. (Hint: Deva may not be the way to go; it wasn't for me.) Keoni is also a great colorist. I love that he is looking for ways to cut down on my maintenance expenses by moving me toward a hair color that won't require such frequent touch ups as I become more and more grey. :(
One more plus: He can do straightening treatments here, and he will iron your hair if you ask.
Oh, the salon is extremely comfortable and relaxed, and Keoni is super-friendly and an engaging conversationalist. I love a hairdresser who watches the news!
Ok from all the rant and raves I've read about this place I decided to try it.
And I must tell it it was worth every penny spent..I had a appointment and had almost no wait time. The place was busy but a very nice atmosphere. My stylish of choice was Gizell, and she did a awesome job, what a great gal. I hope you all can experience a great hair stylist too.
Wish i didn't love really good salons so much..... dang.
Lisa is my stylist of choice, she is SO frickin good. love love love!
Ok, so I went back to get my hair did to go to Texas. And I was really disappointed with the outcome I wanted the same hair cut as I did before. And my hairstylist layered my hair way too short. My hair on top of my head sticks up... if I gelled my hair in the middle of my hair I would look like a girl Alfalfa.... hahhaha not cute! Trust me it's embarrassing when I'm meeting my bfren's folks for the first time and I have Alfalfa hair! I have to take some stars off for that....

I love this place it's reasonably priced (compared to Paul Brown's). I used to go to Paul Brown's in Ward to get my hair colored and cut all the time. But it would cost me an arm and a leg. So, my girlfriend told me about this great place in Kailua and the owners used to work at Paul Brown's ,they decided to branch out and start their own shop. I scheduled an appointment with Keoni and I fell in love with the place ever since. I recently had my hair cut short since my baby has figured out she loves pulling mommy's hair.... LOL. I love the cut and I'm going back in a couple weeks to get it cut again before I go to Texas. The staff is friendly and out going. It is definitely well worth the drive to go out there from town.
