Very happy! The tenant in my unit told me the dryer was making a squeeking noise, like a hampster wheel, so i put a request out on facebook for a local repair company. I was referred to The Fix-It Guy and immediately set up an appointment on a Thursday for the following monday service call. The appointment which my tenant booked based on her schedule ended up being moved to tuesday due to his back having pain (no biggy). Tuesday came and he showed up on time, was able to assess the issue and figure out what the problem was (bearings and felt pads) He replaced everything quickly and even walked out with some cake from my tenant. I got a video after he left of a quiet dryer working! total with labor, parts and tax ran $243, wealth worth if for piece of mind.

A bit of a mix up, combined with a very bad day... but at least the dishwasher is fixed.

After being stood-up by another company, I went to Yelp and found Robert to fix a dishwasher in the apartment I rent out. I called at 8pm, he answered, had someone out the following morning. The technician showed up, told me I needed a new part, quoted me a total plus part cost, told me to leave a check with my tenants for the amount due and made an appointment to come back the next day. He called me an hour later and said he misquoted me the part cost and it was $30 more. Alrighty, no big deal.

He called the morning of the second appointment, said he was running late, I said it was fine, I had left a check with the tenants and I was at work. He then said that the the part he needed was the original quote, not the additional $30. I said I had left a check with the tenants for the bigger amount. He asked if I could come home from work and write him another. Unfortunately, I was unable. He said he'd "handle it."

That afternoon, on my way home from work, I called Robert to ask how the repair went. He said it was fine. When I got home, I found that the house had been broken into and all of the tenant's electronics stolen. I called back to ask if Robert's technician had seen anything fishy because, according to the neighbors, the house was robbed right after he left. He said no. I asked about my $30 refund. He said they guy handed $30 cash to "a boy there." Umm... ok.

Pros: He showed up when he said he would; the dishwasher works.
Cons: Misquoted price; left $30 cash with a male tenant he did not get the name of and didn't mention that to me on the phone when I called to see how the repair went (the $30 was stolen in the robbery along with all of the tenant's electronics); still waiting on that receipt - which I actually need.

I wish I could make it 4 1/2 stars, but alas, we can't award half stars. Robert is an awesome repairman! Robert was very nice, did a great job with the repair, and immediately sent a receipt via email when the work was completed.
My washer/dryer broke so I did a search on here for a repairman (because the people at GE were completely useless with recommending people or even helping diagnosing the problem over the phone). Lo and behold, the Fit-It Guy popped up as the best reviewed on here! And rightfully so, Robert was able to immediately diagnose the issue over the phone. He made sure to tell me that I would probably need two appointments (one to see exactly which part he needed to order and one to install the new part), which I thought was great that he was upfront with everything. We scheduled the first appointment and he showed up early (with a phone call asking if it was alright to arrive early). He quickly checked whether the entire drain pump needed to be replaced or just a specific part. He ordered it right away and scheduled our second appointment.
Now comes the reason for the one-star reduction. We scheduled the appointment for a Tuesday between 10am and 11am, so I had to take the morning off work. Robert called at 1030 to say the part wasn't in and we had to reschedule. I understand he can't help that the part couldn't be delivered, but I feel he could have called earlier in the morning instead of halfway through our appointment time to cancel. Luckily he was able to reschedule for the following day in the evening after work so I wouldn't have to miss more work. Other than this one issue, I highly recommend Robert!

These guys ROCK! The motor in my dryer died on me Thursday night and I had family coming to visit for the weekend, so needless to say without clean linens and a working dryer I was freaked out! After trying to fix the problem myself, I called Robert about 11:00 a.m. on Friday; he asked me a few questions, diagnosed the problem over the phone and had the his partner (also named Robert) to my house with a new motor by 1:00 p.m. Problem solved (and for FAR less than what a new dryer would cost)! I will definitely call these guys again, no doubt about that. Oh - and I think it is important to note the distance, they are located about as far south as I am north (I live in Jefferson Park) and they still got my dryer working so quickly. Call them. They are awesome.

Robert was great. Not only did he diagnose what was wrong over the telephone, he came over and fixed both my appliances and got them up and running in under an hour!
He's fast, friendly, professional and fairly reasonably priced.  Will definitely call again if another appliance were to ever break!

Maybe this will average things out a bit. I did receive a call back today, Robert left a message on my machine saying there was a family issue with his 20 month old. (I hope I got the message correct.)

I also hope all is well.

I wish he would have taken a moment to update his voice mail though, it really does just take a minute.

For those that are saying I'm being unrealistic, I don't think so. I recently went through a family situation and I did let people know my availability and didn't leave people hanging.

Well this is pretty amazing, I never believe that true 5-stars exist, at least with as many reviews as are posted here, but my experience was right there as well.

Robert is a nice, intelligent, and easy-going guy with a great business model and excellent service. He came as a recommendation to me from a friend and couldn't have been better IMO. I had a busted washing machine and he made quick work of the repair (like an hour or so), and as important, was prompt, courteous, and inexpensive.

    Keep up the good work!

All in all working with The Fix It Guy (also known as Robert) was pretty easy-peasy. It was relatively painless to set up an appointment and he was able to accommodate my preferences and availability (or lack there of). My repair-guy, Wayne, called me in advance of his arrival and came within the agreed upon hour appointment window. He did seem to be still learning, as he had to call Robert a few times to check his work and ask if what he was diagnosing was correct, but that's ok. Wayne in general was friendly and doing a great job. When I had questions, Wayne and Robert both listened patiently and then we discussed and reasoned out how to move forward with the repair, a level of civility I haven't all-too often with some repair folks.

All in all, Robert and his team are definitely knowledgeable - they will fix your appliance and the prices are reasonable. Make sure when booking your appointment you ask about their fee structure to avoid any surprises later.

Full Disclosure: I didn't have The Fix-It Guy even do any work. I called him, told him I had a washer/dryer all-in-one combo unit and he immediately knew the brand and model number! I described the problem and without trying to hoodwink me into a repair gig, he very honestly and immediately gave me a ball park for how much it would cost to fix it --- which is definitely cost-prohibitive, so I'm just going to bite the bullet and look for a new unit.

His instant knowledge and forthright approach completely impressed me though, and I had felt I had to post a review. If I ever need a repair guy again, I know who I'm calling! (And maybe I'll even be able to use him next time:)

This review is ridiculously overdue, but the Fix-It Guy Chicago is an expert repair service. A month or 2 ago, my dryer randomly decided to stop getting hot, and the Fix-It Guy was able to fit me in and give me same day service when I called.... which was extremely important to me because I was unexpectedly working from home for a day so I was available. He was very nice and professional on the phone, and did a great job fixing my dryer. He also was very helpful in showing me different troubleshooting tricks to have in my back pocket for the future. I would definitely call the Fix-It Guy again for another appliance repair.

So, end of year when freelancers get lots of work using up end of year fiscal budgets. This translates into giant piles of dirty clothes with no time to do wash. Wearing socks for two days and other questionable workarounds. Quelle perfect time for my dryer to break! Yeah!

First, I tried the Chick Method. It's not heating up, so turn it on for two hours and see if it rights itself and warms up. Try again, but put something wet inside to see if that jogs it back to health. Ummm, nope. Plan A - Sue (see previous review) was honest, and said gas dryer repair was beyond her ken. Respect! Plan B (Polski - see review) said he was not an appliance guy either, but gave me a referral for Plan C - ROB, the Fix It Guy!

Rob, the Fix It Guy himself returned my call right away. He worked with my change-by-the-hour freelance schedule of late. Oh! I'm coming home early, can you fix it today? YES!

He gave me a two hour window of time, and showed up right on schedule, even sporting a Fix It Guy tee shirt. Designers notice branding. He was adorable, friendly, and chatty without being unprofessional. He got right to work and even cleaned out some stray lint inside the machine that had escaped my Virgo dryer maintenance rules.

He found the problem right away - something called a "gas coil" thingie? This black thing that looked like a plug had burned out. Oh. Cool. Yeah, I thought that's what it was (right). Fixed in less than an hour. His bill was . . . erm . . . well, not cheap (because I am penniless), but it was reasonable for appliance repair.

Super sweet guy, and tech-obsessed me was impressed with his instantaneous email invoicing system from his smartphone. Green! I'll definitely call this guy again when my aging dryer has some other inevitable problem.  'Cos ain' no way I can afford a new one for the next couple of decades.

Immediately did four loads of laundry. Clean pile of warm from dryer underwear neatly tucked away calms Virgo hearts for the minute, at least.

I don't have too much experience with appliance repair services, except for having a vague sense that the eventual experience would be horrendous. Not so with this excellent repair service! Robert was able to diagnose my washing machine's problem over the phone, using only my description of the issue. He was prompt, professional, reasonably priced, and able to send a receipt and charge my credit card with his smartphone. As someone who both cannot fix her own washing machine and isn't very good with technology, I was impressed.

Wayne was great!  He showed up on time, diagnosed the problem with the dryer as being a faulty belt, and immediately fixed the problem - what more could you ask for.

Besides that, he was a very personable and a polite guy who was a pleasure to do business with.  The pricing seemed reasonable for what he did.

I would highly recommend the Fix-It guy.

Robert sent his dad out to my small business to repair two dryers.  The problems were accurately predicted ahead of time over the phone.  They let me order the parts on line at great savings and the labor charge was also very fair.  I give them five stars for maximum honesty, fairness, and expertise.  So happy to not ever need anyone else to for washer/dryer repair which are important to my massage therapy business: Chicago Touch in the west loop.

Called The Fix-It-Guy on the recommendation of a friend and I have been recommending him or at least sharing my story with anyone who asks so I figure give him credit where credit is due, on YELP!

Robert and his co-worker were on-time, professional, friendly and very chatty. They even liked my 2 dogs! They fixed my washing machine that was stuck and would not spin within minutes. They cleaned up what little mess they made as well. Robert even emailed me a receipt on spot and offers warranties on parts. Make sure you look cute, he likes to take your picture so he know who you are when you call again.

I will definitely recommend him to anyone who has any issues as he is time and professionally and, more important, affordable.

I hate to be the one who breaks Robert's 5 star streak.   : (

I had a problem with my washer and scheduled an appointment. He came by to take a look at it. Robert took it apart and realized what the problem was within minutes. He ordered the parts and scheduled another appointment within days! Amazing!

He was late- I totally understand that things run long too. He called and told me he was late, but turns out he was over an hour late. No problem.

Robert had an assistant/apprentice with him to teach him the ropes. They worked on my washer and got it fixed. I liked that afterwards he turned it on to see if it worked. That is where the problem was.

I don't know if he forgot to hook up the water line to the washer or his apprentice did and it didn't work, but once he turned on the washer, water went EVERYWHERE. We had to scramble up all the towels in my apartment to sop up the mess.

They cleaned it up and fixed the water line and hooked it up properly to the washer. We put the wet towels directly into the washer afterwards and it worked!

The washer worked, but there was a mishap with the water flooding my apartment. They cleaned most it up, but there was some standing water left in the washer/dryer closet-which I had to clean up. And I had some stuff stored on the floor which got ruined a bit, like my ironing board and some random Christmas and birthday wrapping paper. (I had to throw away the wrapping paper, but just wiped down the ironing board and washed the pad and lining and it was good as new)

Overall, great job with the washer- taking one star away for the flood and for my ruined wrapping paper and ironing board.

I am a little tardy in writing this but even after a month or two I am still making a point to give this guy credit. After wrestling with the Whirlpool guys who are only available during business hours (like you don't have a job to be at during those hours) Robert came out at 730pm.

He was on-time, professional and his prices were very reasonable. I will absolutely use him in the future and recommend him to anyone having washer/dryer problems

WOO-HOO!  I can wash my clothes again! yes.yes.yes!  I never thought I'd see the day when I'm actually EXCITED to do laundry - but here it is and thanks to Robert Sr., I can do so with no buzzing noise and no draining problems.

I googled a repairman for that purpose and his website was the first to come up followed by Yelp - and upon seeing all the raving reviews, I knew I need not look much further.  And thank you yelpers for not letting us down!

I called Tuesday and spoke to Robert Jr - he said he'd be able to send someone (another Robert) the next day.  So Robert Sr, who is his father, calls me up and says he can come early.  Unfortunately, I had to stick to the 5pm appt - but he was there at 5pm on the dot with his lovely daughter, who was quite knowledgeable herself.

We explained some things and then he went to work - drained some disgusting water out of that poor pump and lo and behold - pulls out green mardi gra looking beads.  Uhm yeaaa, that would be from St. Patty's Day...uhhh...yea....oops.  After cracking some jokes about not doing laundry while intoxicated (again oops!), he finishes up the job and chats about the company, etc.  He actually works for (I like to say with) his son, who he taught.  Lucky us for getting the Guru himself.

These guys are the real deal.  Honest, personable, funny, chatty and they keep it real - giving tips and easy solutions for free along the way.  And all this for a very reasonable price backed up by a 3 month guarantee.  wha-wha!  I would give more stars if I could and I def would recommend them to all.  This is one company I would dare not cheat on!  Thanks again, guys!  Now let's see how long this 'loving doing laundry' streak lasts...

Believe the hype.  This is 100% a no brainer.

The last thing that the Fix it Guy needs is another five-star review.  But...whatre you gonna do.  Every now and then a company comes along that is the END of the discussion.  Like, you cant help but feel bad for a company's so-called "competitors."

Well, Robert and his Fix it Guy peeps are THAT good.  While I was chatting w him (as he fixed my washing machine) he got a call from a prospective customer who was "shopping around for quotes."  I wanted to grab the phone away from Robert and yell into the phone "YOU IDIOT, DONT YOU REALIZE THAT YOUVE FOUND THE BEST COMPANY ON EARTH?!"  But I didnt.  She will just have to find out for herself.  Robert has a few dudes whom he has trained personally, who are every bit as good as he is.

    Believe the hype.

If your appliances break, call these cats immediately.

My washing machine broke this weekend, and I was really upset about it.  I decided to try The Fix-It Guy after seeing all the positive reviews here. I called Monday morning, and they diagnosed the problem over the phone.  Wayne showed up for my Tues 8 am appointment right on time.  He was very polite and fixed the broken drainage pump right away.  The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that Wayne left a little bit of a mess for me to clean up.  Overall, I am very pleased with their service.  I hope my appliances keep working for years, but if I have any issues, I know who to call.

So, I made this resolution: Finally fix the lazy dishwasher. Yeah, it's lazy. It only likes to wash things "sort of." Like, everything on the top shelf ends up with this smattering of crusty dots all over it. Then, I have to wash all of it...AGAIN. It's not totally deficient, just super annoying. Dishwashers are supposed to clean things! Mine is basically a storage unit for dirty dishes, wherein I finally break down and do them all by hand....sigh.

Back to my resolution: get it fixed.

I left The Fix-It Guy (Robert!) a message on New Year's Day evening. (There are very easy instructions to follow for leaving a message on his web site.) He called me back at 830am the next day, with a full-on explanation of what might be ailing my @#$%^ dishwasher.

Instead of rushing right into making an appointment, he suggested I run some vinegar (or dishwasher cleaner, I bought The Works at the Dollar Store for...ya know, a buck) to clear away anything that might be blocking the rinse cycle.

He told me this FOR FREE. Not after he came and charged me out the wazoo for "consulting." FOR FREE. And, he's nice.

And, so far...it works. Amazing. For the first time. I just assumed it was some major problem. Apparently not, but if there ever is one...I'll for sure call this guy. Customer service done right...

Thanks, Robert! You are the only one I could talk to the day after New Year's Day before 9am and come up with a reasonable solution to one of my problems :)

    YAY!

As promised Robert...you held up your end of the deal, the least I could do was hold up my end.  5 stars!!

My washer stopped working on Friday right before I went out of town so I said, eh screw it and left the clothes and water and soap and bubbles and weird pumpking smell all in there and left.  Asked the BF to take care of it but you know how that goes...

Came back Sunday night and left a message for Robert around 9pm.  By 8:30am on Monday morning (today) he called back and before I even finished describing my ish, he knew what was wrong.  Told me it would be $120 for labor (no parts for my problem) and he could be out that day at 3pm.  No 12pm-5pm time range, 3pm on the dot.  And then he called at 1:30pm and said he could come at 2pm if I was available.  Awesome!

Like everyone else says, he's super friendly and courteous.  Very honest and up front.  Such a relief and my washer is fixed.  Smell is still there but he gave me a suggestion for that too.

So thanks Robert and thanks Yelpers for recommending him!

I had a dryer problem and contacted Robert. He was extremely courteous and helpful on the phone, and even helped me troubleshoot over the phone. He was able to give me an appointment for the next day--even called before the appointed time to let me know he was running late! Oh that the cable company should be so considerate...

When he arrived, he took my husband and me through an detailed hands-on tutorial (at our request) that should be entitled "Getting to Know your Whirlpool Dryer" and he systematically isolated the problem. Turns out it was a ventilation problem, not a dryer problem per se!

His labor charge (for dismantling a portion of my machine) was reasonable, and did I mention how professional and courteous he is? He also seems to know his stuff-- knew the innards  of the dryer and wasn't shy about educating us about it....the mark of a true craftsman.

Recommend highly, if only for the customer service. Will update post if/when I have a real need for washer/dryer/dishwasher repair, as I plan on using him again in the future.

Called the Fix-It guy after our washing machine stopped working.  Well, I should have checked it again because when he arrived it was working again.  Robert was really nice and did an entire check up on our washer and dryer, but he did charge us his normal $100 rate for the visit, which I thought was a little steep given that it was working.  But, shame on me for not checking it again...

It's also worth mentioning that Robert is extremely nice and professional.  Not that I can really vouch for the guy, but my sense is that this is someone you could trust to call when only your wife or kids would be home.  He seems really trustworthy, and you don't always get that.

    Robert is amazing!

After seeing his 27 5-star reviews here I called him to fix our dishwasher. He was over the next day with his tools & magic. It turns out the heating element had slipped and burned a hole through the plastic bottom (!!!) and that's the reason we were getting water all over our floor. After researching & finding out that they don't sell the tub as an individual piece he started looking for another solution that wouldn't involve us buying a new dishwasher. He came back the next day with a heat gun & epoxy and fixed the thing in minutes. Now we've got a working dishwasher that doesn't bleed water all over the place! He probably saved us over $600. Thanks Robert!

Like others have said, he's on time (or early), extremely personable, and takes the time to explain the problem to you and talk about solutions. All work is guaranteed for 90 days, which is also nice. And he uses an iPhone - that made me smile. He's looking to expand his business soon, and that's great news - I'd call him to fix any issue we had in our place. You don't meet many professionals who are as professional as him.

Fellow Yelpers, you never let me down.  I called Robert to see if could come out and fix my dryer.  He called me about 1 hour later.  He was so pleasant on the phone and he helped diagnose the problem over the phone.  He is still going to come out tomorrow to fix it for me.  His hours are from 9am to 9pm--working people's hours!  How nice!  Comcast and People's Gas need to take a page out of this guy's book.  Anyway, I look forward to meeting him.  I just know from talking to him that he is the real deal and he will fix my dryer.

Okay--Robert just left.  He fixed my dryer and he's such a nice guy.  When I opened the door he was smiling from ear to ear and shook my hand.  I found it incredibly courteous of him to put everything back (my step stool, detergent, mops, etc) in its original place.  He even asked me to message him or call him to let him know everything is working properly.  Talk about follow through!

Thanks, Robert.  If I ever have problems with my washer and dryer again I won't hesitate to give you a call!

Super friendly, professional and quick. Was early or right on time for each time he set up to meet us. Our dryer had a small parts issue with the door catching, and he knew exactly what was wrong immediately. His fees were spot on and his personality and professionalism were the icing on the cake. Will definitely recommend and use him again!

These guys are completely awesome - no doubt about it.  Having the crew in felt more like a social call than someone fixing my leaky dishwasher.  That isn't to say that there was anything remotely unprofessional about their work - quite on the contrary.  These guys know everything about their work, inside and out, and are more than happy to teach you what you need to know to make them never have to come back, if you're interested in learning.

In addition to them being cool, extremely talented guys, their work was quick, and the price was very cheap.  Definitely call them in if you need something done to your dish washer, or, I believe they mentioned, laundry setup.

Couldn't ask for a better repair guy. Not only did he fix my dishwasher quickly and affordably, we have all the same XBox games and we are now buddies online! How weird/cool is that?

    Highlights:

    * We scheduled for after-hours the day after I called. Super convenient. Compare this to the GE repair guys who could only come in an 8AM-12PM or 1PM-5PM window during the week or 8AM-5ON window during the weekend. I mean, WTF!

    * I wouldn't say the prices were cheap, but they were much more reasonable than the GE folks.

    * Super fast. Identified the problem quickly, showed it to me, and fixed it all in 20 min.

    * Robert can teach you a thing or two in Ghost Recon 2. This is a real differentiator amongst dishwasher repair guys!

I could not be happier with Robert!

Robert was recommended to me by a woman who lives in my building after seeing if anyone in the building had problems with the washers/dryers that came with our units when we purchased them (on Facebook).  I've used yelp often - usually for restaurant/bar related recommendations, and I hadn't even thought to look here for a repairman.  I am glad that she did (thanks, Erica!)

I have an old GE stack-able unit from the late 90s (from when they converted the building) and it had been thumping for quite a while (really, every load can't be that unbalanced!) - so I decided to get it looked at.   I left a message on Monday morning and he returned my call within 20 minutes.   I explained the problem and we coordinated schedules and Robert arrived on time on Wednesday night.  He also brought stabilizing legs with him because he knew what the problem was from my description and my sound effects.

Upon arrival, Robert was super friendly and funny and went straight to work.  Now, apparently, I should have called sooner than I did - as not only were the stabilizing legs wonky - but one had actually been so off-balance that the friction made the leg break through the stand thing (technical term) that the basket sits on - so even though he brought the right parts, because I waited and waited, I needed another part as well.  Robert got on the computer, checked the stock and we made plans for him to come the next night with the additional part.

Thursday night, Robert arrives on time again and as friendly as ever and gets to fixin' my machine.   It is now running so efficiently and quietly that I don't even know when it's done (I've pretty much "heard" the spin cycle for the better part of a year or so).

Now, prior to his arrival on Thursday night, I decided to make new ice (it's spring weather and I need additional cooling agents in my beverages) and my 2 year old Jenn Air french door fridge wouldn't dump the ice.  I mention this to Robert to see if he has someone he can recommend for fridges (he does washers, dryers, and dishwashers) and he takes a look at it and trouble shoots a bit.  He gives me the name of a guy he used to work with - and even called him on the phone to troubleshoot.   I think that Robert must be magic though - because about 3 hours later - I hear the ice drop.   YAY!

Anytime I have any issues with my appliances - I will call Robert - and I will refer him to anyone in my building.  I have also promised to call sooner, rather than later - so that I don't cost myself more money for additional parts.

Thank you Robert.  Very knowledgeable, professional and courteous.  Will definitely use again when I've got appliance issues.  Ah, the joys of home ownership.

Fixed my washer quickly and with a guarantee.  Thank god I don't have to schlep my stuff to the laundromat, I don't have the quarters anymore!

I like my Sundays quiet and uneventful. Last Sunday seemed to be going in that direction with repeat viewings of "Firefly," knitting a wedding blanket of doom (took forever to finish), and doing laundry. Yeah, it's a boring Sunday, but it's mine.

However, my Sunday got a little less boring when I went switch loads in the laundry. The towels were still pretty wet which is highly unusual. I started our dryer back up and noticed a difference in sound. I guess we should have paid attention to the weird noises, but thought that they were from the unit upstairs known for their excessive volume. I pointed out the problem to my handy husband who realized that it was beyond his scope of repair. So, with semi-wet towels and a whole load of wet sheets in our washer, our dryer broke. I admittedly flipped out about this because I've used the same stacking style washer/dryer for three years earlier in an apartment building with no problem. Why is our dryer with about a year of use for us (probably longer with condo age) doing this to me and my night? Did the dryer just know that I was so close to finishing my blanket and oogling Captain Mal. After making sense of the dryer crapping out on us, my husband went to the laundromat nearby, I researched appliance repair and found "The Fix-It Guy" on the Yelps.

On Monday morning, I called and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday since my schedule was better than a same day repair. He called beforehand saying he was early and would come over. I showed him the offending dryer who ruined our Sunday night. Just as my parents guessed, the belt was destroyed. He searched through his truck and found his last dryer belt. While he took apart our dryer, lint fell out everywhere. I took the dustbuster to it to keep the insides of our dryer clean. In less than a half hour, I had a completely fixed dryer like nothing had disrupted our quiet Sunday evening. Robert wrote out the receipt and sent it to my email soon after leaving me with a happy dryer. All in all, it was a great first time homeowner, appliance repair experience. Our dryer is working great now and won't attempt to ruin another quiet Sunday night again!

Robert is the real deal. He is professional, smart, and knows the industry backwards and forward. I found him on craigslist and gave him a shout. We had some problems with some burning smell in the dryer, he was able to diagnose it over the phone. He came out a day later, right on time and had us up and running in no more than 30 minutes.

I will definitely be recommending his company to everyone I know.  He is the best washer and dryer repair guy in the city!

    Robert changed my life.
In less than an hour, closer to a half-hour, finally a major corner was turned.
The washing machine & dryer, the deathly duo, had been an albatross around my neck leading to wasted days at laundromats ( one pretty good one), extended drive times to wash clothes and dealing with relatives just to wear clean underwear.
At some point, the old (now new) washing machine stopped draining water in the spin cycle and likely overworked the appliance. That meant that the dryer had extra work to do which likely burned it out.
One problem led to another, then another.
For more than two years, awful arguments and tension arose from not being able to wash clothes at home.
    Enter The Fix-It Guy.
    Quick. Thorough. Painless.
OK, it's just a washing machine and dryer but after the work was done, I felt strangely whole and ready to wash.
    Thanks Robert.

After reading all these positive reviews, I decided to give Robert a call.  My dryer was cycling but not drying the clothes inside.

Making an appointment was a breeze and he talked me through pre-diagnosing the problem first so that he was better prepared for when he got here.

He and his friendly assistant did the job perfectly and professionally at a reasonable cost.

I recommend Robert to anyone with dryer problems (or any other services that he offers) based on his ability to quickly troubleshoot and fix the problem.

    I am blown away.

My washer was not draining water. I found Robert's website and called literally 2 hours ago. As soon as I told him the problem on the phone and that I had a stacking washer/drier he not only knew the cause of the problem but correctly guessed the model of my washer. That is just insane.

He said he had a gap in his schedule, came by and hour and a half later and fixed the problem within minutes. He's courteous, reasonably priced and just a pleasure to work with. Being a new homeowner in the area, it's great to know a guy like Robert is around to help us with washer/drier issues.

I couldn't have expected more from an internet search fix-it man.

The diagnosis fee wasn't too bad ($60), even though we couldn't find anything actually wrong with my machine.  He talked me through things that could have caused the burning rubber smell (and remnants we found), but we weren't able to recreate it.  HOWEVER, I will be better prepared the next time my machine acts up as now I know what all the parts are supposed to do and how they are supposed to interact.

A lot of repair specialists I've dealt with in the past don't want to (or can't) share information...it's like trade secrets.  Finding someone willing to educate while they work is a real gem.

The diagnosis fee I paid is good for 90 days, so if the bugger acts up again and I capture the problem, he'll come back for free to check it out.  (of course I'll still have to pay the parts & labor for actual fixing, but that is true all the time.)

Bottom line - unless you have a friend or family member who can repair your stuff, give Robert a call.

Robert is great! He was very accessible and able to schedule a visit very quickly after I called him. Once he arrived, he diagnosed the problem with my dishwasher in minutes. He was very straightforward with his explanation of what was wrong and advised us to buy a new dishwasher rather than spend the $200+ to fix the old with no guarantee it would last very long.

Although it took only a few minutes to diagnose the problem, Robert stuck around to offer advice on what to look for in a new dishwasher. He gave suggestions on what to watch for during the installation, and what to check to be sure the installer did everything correctly.

Robert's approach to his 1-man business is exactly what makes small business succeed and why he gets 5 stars.

Seriously, this is the repair guy you should call.  He really goes above and beyond what you would typically expect of a washing machine repairman.  He comes on time (or early!), charges a flat fee, has a labor guarantee and above all, he's a nice guy!  Totally someone I could trust in my home and someone that won't give you the runaround.

Robert came to my house on a Saturday morning at exactly the time he promised.  He was prompt and polite and took the time explain exactly what was wrong with the machine and how to fix it.  He charged us a flat fee for his labor, which included a labor warranty.  He answered all my questions, and taught us how to maintain the machine in the future.  (Run a hot water cycle with a gallon of vinegar in your washing machine!   Clean out your lint drawer, and check underneath the dryer!)

Our washing machine had a particularly difficult problem to diagnose, and Robert had to come back for a few follow ups.  Since he has a labor warranty, it was no charge!  He even replaced two parts for free, and came for two hours to watch the machine go through two cycles.

My over 16-year-old washing machine now runs like a dream.  It is absolutely glorious to have these amazingly clean clothes.  I cannot say enough good things about Robert!  Thank you!!

Robert is amazing I called him Monday and he was at my house Wednesday morning. When I called and told him the problem he told me that it was either the pump had gone out or something got stuck in the line that drains the water out of the machine. Turned out a sock got lodged in the drain pipe.

Not only did he fix the machine he also fixed the issue with the hot water not flowing right. He charged only $120 and even while he was fixing my machine he got calls from other potential customers who saw his reviews here on Yelp. The fact that he does good work goes a long way and like one Yelper said he doesnt give 5 stars very often, but in this case Robert earned it.

Robert is prompt and very professional and obviously he's well on his way to becoming a very popular repair man. I was happy with the work that he did because he saved me a lot of money because he's not one to jerk you around like some people will and when you call and tell him the issue he'll keep it real with you about whether the problem is correctable, fixable. or a waste of money to fix. He obviously has a pretty good intuition about washing machines to know a problem without even looking at it to tell you the problem.

I highly recommend this guy and keep him in your stash of repair people who do good work because you can not only help someone else, but you will also help build this guy's business in the process. You don't meet too many people like Robert who's professional and courteous service makes it an asset to the repair buisness industry. He also guaranteed the work for up to 90 days which is what I like about good service because if you get a warranty for the work done you know you're paying a premium for good service.

For those of you out there looking for a good repair man call Robert you won't regret it because he's worth the money for good service and professional standards.
