We have eaten at The Fieldston many times and it is one of the best restaurants on the the South Shore.  The food is always fantastic with local and seasonal items always on the menu.  It is an excellent value - particularly during one of their specials.
The wine list is well thought out and there is always something to compliment the meal.
This is an excellent example of a chef owned restaurant done right.  The food comes first and you can tell that with the first bite!
The atmosphere is pleasant - nice without being stuffy.

This is our favorite restaurant in the area and we can't wait to go back!

"Expensive," says the first reviewer. The Fieldston is very well-priced for the quality of food. In fact the new Fall menu is $12.95 and under with imaginative specials such as "Broiled Arctic Char with a Grand Marnier-Citron Sauce. Oh, and the regulars know to show up on Sunday nights when the owner-chef offers  "Clean Out the Kitchen" specials for $9.95. The wine list is unexpected for a small restaurant and perfectly paired with the menu. So? What are you waiting for? Take a drive to Marshfield for some of the best gourmet fare around.

Nice, quiet restaurant not far from the water. Really good food and decent sized portions. Expensive, especially for that area, but not bad for a nice night out.

The Fieldston is one of my favorite restaurants.  The atmosphere and staff are pleasing and the food is very good.  Prices, I find, are reasonable and the food is always inventive without being silly.  My only complaint is the bar is a bit small, but it is a comfortable spot for good drinks and conversation if you can find a seat there after dinner.

Average food and service, nothing particularly bad, or good either. I wouldn't make a special trip just to go here, but if you happen to be near the place and hungry it's just ok. There are certainly better places to eat within a couple of minutes drive, so I don't go here very often. Good location close to the beach and it has a small amount of off street parking. It looks like the review written on 11/21/2007 was written by the owner himself. The review is a little TOO FAMILIAR with the prices to the exact penny. Arctic Char (Chilean Tooth fish) has become an endangered species, and most of the fish being imported to the US is from poachers fishing this profitable fish to extinction. I refuse to buy it to continue to support the destruction of this species. Why not put Bald Eagle on the menu too while you are at it.  And if you have to be an insider to know that the good deal is on Sunday nights only, I guess everybody who shows up on a different night is being hosed eh?  Stupid us for not knowing that! The quality of the food, was average, the service was VERY S...L...O....W and the waiter looked like a teenager who had no clue as to how to do things the right way.
