V. nice to first timers!

Helix and lobe pierced in one visit for under $50.  I didn't know what I was doing and I wished I could have more choice in the jewelry type but could have done more internet research before coming in.  I didn't watch any sterilization or unpackaging happen but the guy who pierced me was kind and not demeaning at all even though it was blatantly obvious I had never done this before.  He also only charged for 1 piercing ($20) and the 2 jewelries.

Afterwards he advertised some cleaning solution without being too pushy at all, and confirmed I was a Stanford student and gave me a discount without my asking at all!  (Found out later there is a coupon in the unofficial Stanford guide, also.)

Best of all, they were chatting about Yelpers when I came in.  (:  Please tip your piercer!

i was going to give them only 2 stars, but because they gave good service i'll give them 3.

they were super nice and helpful trying to figure out which replacement piece i needed on an item. but unfortunately the price was just super inflated. the part i needed replaced was priced the same amount i bought the whole product for new. seems like a mountain view version of Bulldog's.

but maybe i'm just too spoiled from San Diego, where they sell things at only 1.5% mark-up instead of like 3x or 4x.

This place was crackin.

There was a long wait before I had the chance to sit in with Mark to get my septum done... but it was worth the wait.

Clean, clean and clean. That's all I want in a pierce job.

I thought I'd cry like a little bitch, but Mark was really gentle and didn't judge me for having crusty boogers in my nostrils.

10 stars for their selection of Rebel8 apparel, deviant glassware and stripper shoes. Plus a stripper pole?

Off. The. Hook.

walked in on a whim! science bubbler will make your peepee feel small for even the biggest tokers! I can rip it huge and nothing "grabs you by the boo-boo" like this thing!
ok editing for synopsis: add little chunks of crushed ice A La snoopy snow cone machine to science bubbler commence bliss!
consequently the only reason its 4 stars is cause i had to drive almost an hour to get to the area no other reason! the lady behind the counter was awesome! I posted 2 times (edited anyways) so that means you should go at least once!

I have some seriously degenerate friends.

Well, not so much degenerates as they are hilarious.

For example, I have this one friend, who drank a case of beer on "suitcase saturday" and woke up with two shaved legs and in the bed of a not so desirable girl.

Crazy guy.

Another friend of mine took mushrooms at a party once and started freaking out.  So, he hid in a tiny closet and freed the "dolphins" that were stuck in the shoe boxes all night.  The next morning apparently there were like 30 pairs of shoes all over the room, balcony, and front yard.

What a nut bag.

Another buddy of mine decided to ask his doctor about the link between a blood alcohol content of .20 or greater and erectile dysfunction.

Apparently there is a link.  Who knew?

And my last buddy told me about his exploits at The Fatty Zone.  He told me that this place has the best supplies and equipment for his smoking needs.

And apparently they have a great assortment of vaporizers as well.

If I ever decide to start behaving badly, it's good to know I have many "friends" to draw some experience from.

Amigos.

UPDATE! I got my industrial pierced here back in December and I have had ZERO problems with it.  Everything there is super clean and super professional.  It was great, too, cause when I came back looking for new industrial jewelry, the piercer guy was like, "Umm honestly the industrial jewelry here isn't very good.  I'd suggest ordering some online." I love honesty :)

I went to get my conch pierced in May and I was extremely nervous and scared because it was my first needle piercing. Mark (the piercer) was extremely nice and really informative. He talked to me through out the whole process and he let me knew what he was doing. It went by so fast and it didn't even hurt at all. After I got my conch pierced he talked to me about the after care and was very informative.

Overall I recommend you go there for any piercing you want to get. The place is very sanitary and organized.  Its kind of price, but the service you get is excellent. I am thinking about going back next month to get my tragus pierce.

My nose ring fell out a few months ago and I couldn't get it back in.  In a panic I ran to The Smoke Shop on El Camino and asked the guy to help me.  He struggled for 15 minutes to get it in with no luck, my nose was bleeding and he had to use plyers to reshape the ring to get it back in.  He got it in but then the back part was hanging out of my nose! He told me there was nothing that could be done because my hole was in an awkward place.

After weeks of frustration, I decided to try to get a second opinion.  I spoke to the piercer at Fatty Zone and he told me getting a new ring in would be no problem.  And within 5 minutes, he put a brand new ring (without reshaping) in my nose.

I am so glad that I didn't take the guy at The Smoke Shop's word.  The guys at The Fatty Zone definitely know what they are doing.  If I ever need anything else, this is the place I will be going.

I got my first piercing (an eyebrow barbell) a few weeks ago.  The staff was really nice and professional, as I had little clue how the process went.  Mark (the piercer) was really cool, even though I was kinda being a sissy.  He told me to wash with salt water, which they had in stock.  A few weeks later, I accidentally knocked part of the barbell out, and Mark helped me get in back in.  Everything was sanitary and professional.

this review is long due. I got my navel and ears pierced again i believe last tuesday. this place is the cleanest place i've been to. my navel didn't hurt and after he was finished with me he immediately cleaned the place like he was ocd about how clean the place had to be.
mark was a laid back guy who made my friends and i comfortable. espcially since i was freaking out about my navel piercing since i hadn't gotten a piercing for more than 10 years... and apparently my first piercings are uneven. haha.
mark's also hella careful with his work. he kept making sure everything was lined up and i have lined up piercings on my ears now! and a straight navel piercing.

if you want a piercing. get one from mark at fatty zone!
i'm definitely going to be going back there and refer people.

Very cool place, they have a lot of cool and fun stuff. The staff there were very friendly and fun.

I went for a cartilage piercing and Mark was awesome. The room was very clean and everything was sterilized. Mark made me feel very comfortable, he told me exactly what he was doing throughout the whole process. I was surprised that my piercing didn't hurt at all. After I was done Mark also went over cleaning and after care with me.

Very cool establishment and I highly recommend going to Mark for all your piercings.

Very friendly, very professional!  I was told that getting your belly-button re-pierced can hurt so much more than the first time, but Mark didn't make that happen!  I just felt a little pressure when he goes "Here it comes!" and that was it!  It really didn't hurt,  the whole process was very gentle, very smooth....
DO choose him for piercing, it'll worth your money!   ^_~

So I went to fatty zone today and had mark do a snug piercing for me ( I had had one done before with a diffrent piercer and this one was a much better expirence)
I was extremely impressed on several levels... This was a very important piercing for me and I am glad that I went to mark.

His devotion to sterilization was amazing. As stated below he does change the gloves quite frequently to avoid cross contamination . Everything comes out of sterile packages that have been auto-claved and sterilized.

His jewelry is of the highest quality(implant grade) not the crap you get from hot topic.
I even bought a  a new piece for my existing snug, and he placed it in for me.

He answered all on my questions, and explained just what he was going to do. I was quite impressed with his level of professionalism.

I had it done this afternoon and it hasn't even swollen yet.. .which is amazing for this type of piercing. The placement was perfect and I haven't had a better experience ever.

So yes, I highly recommend mark!!! If you are considering a piecing for yourself or you know someone wanting a piercing I would go to mark @ fatty zone!

After this  I will never go to or recommend that other *place* in redwood city.

Go to fatty zone.. if you want someone who knows what they are doing and cares about  their clients then chose mark.

And don't forget to tip your piercer!!!

Honestly, this place was kinda intimidating.  As others have said, neon sign, dark inside, big guys with tats...

But when it came down to business, Mark was the most professional, gentle, polite person.  As everyone else has said, the process is super, super sanitary.

I can't imagine going to do this at a Claire's (or some such) after this.  Mark was so much more professional and sanitary than someone who works in the mall.

Oh.. bring cash.  The piercing is cash only but the jewelry and aftercare stuff can be on cc but the piercing fee is cash only.  Don't end up swinging by the atm like I had to.

Mark is awesome.  Believe it.

A friend wanted a bong and was pleased with the selection at Fatty Zone.  They have an assortment of piercing equipment, stripper-style clothes, spray paint, etc.  I enjoyed checking out the hooker heels.

Disclaimer: I've never smoked, so I am reviewing this head shop based on the experiences of my friends and co-workers.  This is similar to how as a vegan I review a steakhouse based on the opinions of my dining companions.  I just feel I should disclose that I have no firsthand knowledge of the quality of this establishment's wares.

I remember a stripper pole in the corner of this place and mirrors to truly try on the stripper shoes (get into the whole vibe, lol). But I think they may have removed that little section.

There was also a wall of books! They've got some Suicide Girls books there (my fav).

Jewelry selection isn't all that great.
For piercing, I suggest to call and make an appointment. Every time I call or walk in, the piercer dude is never there.

I've had my ears pierced since I was 7 or 8.  For some crazy reason, one of my ears started healing a couple of years ago and it has been a total pain to get earings in it since then.  I decided today to finally get it re-pierced and selected Fatty Zone based on the Yelp reviews.  They were super busy when I went in today but they were nice enough to let me add my name to their waiting list and just come back in an hour.  The piercer (I never got his name) was pretty nice and I was really impressed with how sterile everything was.  Along with re-piercing my ear, he also stretched out the other ear, too.  It was kind of pricey ($52) but I think that may have been because I got jewelry for both ears.  Overall, I'm pretty happy with it but I guess we'll see how it really turns out in 5 weeks when I get to take out my earings!

Oh and a bonus of visiting this place is getting to giggle at all of their pot-inspired accessories.  Just remember their impressive collection of bongs and hash pipes are for tobacco use only, wink wink.  And if you need to pass a drug test, they have all sorts of chemicals to cleanse your body.  So amusing.

Hey FATTY ZONE. While I am impressed with your self-serving review of your manager and your store I would like to let you know that your employee was rude and obnoxious. I honestly could care less about her "credentials" unless that includes a recent training session in customer service.

I especially do not appreciate it when somebody tries to JACK THE PRICE UP after I hand them the money. That's called Fraud. Then when I call her on it she finally gives me change in nickels and mutters expletives under her breath. Excuse me, but thats a piss-poor way of treating anybody especially one of your customers and I think you probably know it.

Finally I find it particularly hypocritical and ironic that you criticize my judgment of character before you even found out what happened for yourself.  As far as you being honored if I don't come back to your store; I doubt that you'll be honored for anything soon unless its a Smart Aleck award. If I could give your store and its employee ZERO STARS I would, you really earned it.

i have three main goals for my move to san diego this summer:

1. learning to surf
2. unemployment
3. being a total stoner*

so like, none of those seem that far out of reach.

to prepare i am like, going to smoke a whole bunch of salvia while it's still legal. & weed. & do a buncha other drugs, too! wheeeeeeeeee!

it's really too bad san diego doesn't have a head shop called the FATTY ZONE because that's just the most awesome name i've ever heard. even though i kept forgetting the name, wanted to call it FATTY PALACE and decided that if i ever opened up a head shop of my own, i'd want to call it that, except spelled with ph. PHATTY PHALACE. umm, fatty phallus? i think i was high when i was imagining owning my own fatty palace. musta been, you know.

extra kudos to the awesome girl at the counter whose name i don't remember. just kidding, it was alexis. she just said i wouldn't remember & i had to prove her wrong.

*i mean, like, obviously, ADOPTING A STONER PERSONA. i don't do anything illegal. leave me alone!

This review is for Mark, the piercer at The Fatty Zone.  I went to Mark to get my nose re-pierced after letting it close up over 12 years ago.   Things sure have changed from when I stopped by the booth at the mall back in 1986!  Ouch.

I felt comfortable and confident in Mark's abilities throughout the whole procedure.  He did a great job placing the new piercing (I like it better than where I had it before) and explaining the entire process to me. I had some jewelery that I thought I would use, but after talking with him about the pros and cons of what I had brought in, I decided to go with something from the store.  I'm very glad I did and I appreciated Mark's honesty throughout the process.  So now, I am once again pierced and feel a few years younger for it.  Thanks, Mark!

I'm sorry that I can't speak to the other aspects of the store but I don't pole dance or know what 4:20 means so it was all sort of lost on me.  :)

I went here a few times last year, they have tons of stuff here from spraycan nozzles, hooker shoes, piercing, and bongs.

I wanted to get both of my ears pierced (I have them pierced now) from Mark.

He told me since I was underaged I needed to bring a parent, not only that I had to pay about $60 dollars JUST for the process of the piercing plus extra for jewlery. So that would come up for about $80+ dollars, which sounds like an absolute rip since I was a broke kid back then.

I heard stories that Mark would give females cheaper prices for piercings but anyway this place is ok.

I'm going to have to agree with mark h- FUCK YEAH. Five stars for being called 'Fatty Zone.' I wasn't sure if they sold blunts or plus sized clothing, so I had to check it out for myself. Turns out they sell 'water pipes,' piercing shit, and...stripper shoes! 40% off stripper shoes, how could you not love this place? The employee was clearly baked out of his mind, which only added to my enjoyment of the overall Fatty Zone experience. He offered to cut me a deal on the stripper pole on display, but I just didn't have room for it in my apartment. Will I be back? Um, fuck yeah.

Before getting my nose pierced I did a little research on yelp and eventually decided to check out Fatty Zone. Mark was totally awesome. The piercing room was clean, he changed his gloves a bunch of times, and he explained the whole nose piercing process to me before doing the actual piercing so I knew what to expect. When I walked in the place I was a little bit nervous, but after talking to Mark I felt very comfortable and at ease. I will definitely go back for all of my piercing needs.

This place for a young geezer like me, is scary on the outside -- think flashing neon sign, scary looking guy with big tattoos and intense piercings.

I had pierced my ears last May, but in July my right ear got inflamed from a strong reaction to nickel jewellery, and I lost the piercing.  So I got it pierced again, and then, after too much playfighting and such, got it infected again, and since then, I have been asymmetrical, with only one piercing on my left ear.  I'm a girl, so this looks pretty weird.

Despite the scary appearance of this joint, my piercing experience was awesome.  Mark, the piercer there, was really great, clean, straightforward, and the actual piercing itself was expert.  I only got my ear pierced, but knowing that this guy pierced far more sensitive areas of people's bodies made me feel better.  And having gotten my ears pierced at mall shops before, I WOULD ONLY GO TO PIERCING BUSINESSES, NOT MALL STANDS, to get any further piercings.  The piercing gun is like a blunt poke through your ear, so that it throbs afterward... the needle that piercers use is a clean cut through, since the needle is razor edged and hollow inside, it's a much better feeling, and definitely hurt less than the mall piercers at Claire's, etc.  In fact, it hardly hurt at all.

$30 for my piercing, (even though I only wanted to pierce one ear), but totally worth it.  There's also an obvious sign that says "Tipping your piercer is much appreciated."  I was really happy with how I felt so I tipped and left in symmetrical bliss.

way overpriced, somewhat deceiving staff, but good quality stuff

they'll try to sell you anything, and definitely over-hype the quality of their products (scent-removers, bags, jars, cleaners). their cheapest pipes are twice the price of those at My Smoke Shop in Sunnyvale, though granted they do carry good quality glass.

definitely overpriced on everything they sell

also they're super anal about the "acceptable vocabulary" in their store

I've always wanted to get my nose pierced. However, I was soo leery about piercing shops because of sanitation. I was just too freaked about the pierce-ers sanitation habit, hygene, and how often they changed their gloves. A really good friend of mine had her daughters upper lip pierced ("monroe piercing") and her nose pierced. I was then referred to fatty zone to have my nose pierced there. Let me tell you: MARK impressed me so much that I HAVE to refer you there!!! Take my word for it: he is on top of sterilization (everything from his tools to the markers, to the nose ring came out of packages), he used alcohol hand gel to sanitize, and changed his gloves 50 million times! I don't know about you, but changing your gloves 50 million times eases my anxiety for prevention of cross contamination. So, please if anyone of you out there needs or wants to get pierced, please see Mark. Five stars to you Mark and your establishment!!! You truley impressed a person whose concerns about corss contamination and hygene!! Good Job!!!

my favorite in the area. great selection and reasonable prices on the glassware. you can get pierced here too, but def make an appointment because there isnt always someone around who can pierce you. the selection of body jewelry is minimal, just covers the basics. they do have good prices on incense, zippos, sex toys, and flasks.
