if you work in century city, the farmers market on thursday's is like a breath of fresh air.  grabbing a freshly grilled lunch here can make you forget your still in century city!  especially when you can sit down on a bench on the grass, under a tree... it's a midweek picnic!  they also have flowers, fresh produce, many of which are pesticide free, fruit... tons of delicious ripe fruit, with several sampler stations... some of the sweetest, just picked-that-morning strawberries (when in season) and baked items as well...  not as big as other farmers markets, and they don't sell crafts, but come for the food.

one of my most frequented stops is the peruvian stall.  i usually get the grilled chicken with red curry over brown rice.  i'm not sure if they still serve crepes there, but i know they used to.  the hawaiian chicken is also a big hit and always has a long line...

if you don't work in century city, parking can cost you a million bucks, but if you park at the mall, you get 2 or 3 hours free... plenty of time!!

I go to the Century City Farmer's Market every Thursday (there's only so much mall food I can eat).  Overall, it's pretty good.

I usually opt for the Hawaiian chicken or Mexican food in the back corner.  Both are decent.  If those don't sound appetizing to you, they also have Asian food, Greek food, empanadas, and bacon wrapped hot dogs.

The flower selection is quite good and, best of all, cheap.  If you need to pick up some flowers for your significant other, this is the place to do it.  Sooner or later, she'll start to wonder why she only gets flowers on Thursdays ...

Finally, since this farmer's market is located in the heart of Century City, the clientele is mostly business-types.  Lots of men in suits and good-looking, well-put-together women.

Is it Thursday yet? GOOD.

This farmers market is a perfect balance of 50% (surprisingly) decently priced produce/nuts/cheeses/flowers/farmers market fare and 50% moderately priced but freshly made ethnic cuisine. You name it they got it; from Peruvian rice dishes to Greek kabobs and Mexican burritos and tacos.

Great way to mix up the workweek (finally! a day without a Cup o' Soup!) .....and watching the suits sweat it out in midsummer sun is always rewarding in and of itself.

The highlight of my week at work is Thursdays for the Farmer's Market.

I like the different food stalls that are here each week, and the other vendors that come also. I think the food is priced fairly decently, and I also really enjoy the fruit that's there!

The Peruvian food is fantastic, and so is the Greek food. I've heard from many co-workers and clients that the Hawaiian chicken is also phenomenal!

It's a nice thing to have towards to end of the week right before the weekend.

I am not really into farmers' markets, and this one has no "crafts." But it's got plenty of snobby people in suits! It does have really good hot food for lunch, and I work nearby, so it's the only reason I go. They have produce and flowers, etc. but I rarely buy. I'd rather go to the West L.A. farmers' market on Sunday for that. And they have crafts and live music! And animals!

AMENDMENT: The lovely Stephy S. has called to my attention that it is rather cool to have suits abound at a Farmers' Market. Right you are! I hadn't noticed that and am so glad you pointed it out. 'Twill be more exciting next time I go!

Not being much of a farmers-market-type person myself, I nevertheless feel that it deserves a healthy four star rating for the function it serves: Providing a convenient variety of food to all the CC workers once a week. Granted, the fact that the market is located in the courtyard of a 1960s-modernist-ish office building should indicate the type of farmers market you're getting into. There's a good variety of food to have, but I wouldn't call it a good deal ($7-10 for a plate). But it's on par with what you'd end up paying at the nearby mall food court. I usually take my food back to my office, but there is a nearby courtyard with places to sit outside too.

The Hawaiian bbq is evidently the most popular, as the line often snakes back onto itself. The bbq was good, chicken grilled just right, though not mind-blowingly spectacular.

Peruvian food, which I hadn't tried before, was also good, with an interesting blend of spiced chicken and vegetables over rice. It was a subtler type of spice than, say, a tapatio-sauce drenched taco truck creation.

Near the pedestrian bridge, right next to the empanadas stand, they had African samosas, 6 for $5, which I tried and found delicious. A bit greasy, and 6 is not enough to satisfy a full lunch, but well seasoned and reminding me of a plate of ethiopian food. mmm.

Cajun sausages, stuck hiding at the end of the food vendors. A good spicy cajun sausage, with grilled onions, yum, although it was put into a cold bun. $5 for a sausage.

I haven't shopped for produce at this market, but it seems like there is an okay selection. I noticed that they had cherimoya a few weeks ago, one of my favorite fruits, so score! But cherimoya is now out of season, so sad face.

I've worked in Century City for years and years. So the Thursday Farmers Market to me is a constant sign that the weekend is soon approaching. I love the free samples of wacky fruit and the large bowls of Hawaiian chicken. I can eat that stuff all day.

Plenty of fresh produce, but sometimes the lines for the best cooked food can get a little ridicules so arrive early.

Good Times

I've been working in Century City for over 5 years now and the "market" is quite the rage.  In the old days, the market was on Constellation between Ave of the Stars and Century Park East.  The market was hella cramped.  I mean sidewalk room only.  Not good.

Now, the market is def more spacious and you have more walking room.  The vendors have come and gone over the years.  Now that the market has relocated, the clothing and jewelry makers have since left.  Boo!  All you find here are the veggie/fruit, nuts, flower and food vendors.

There are more food vendors than ever before.  What seems to be the most popular are the Thai-Mex and Hawaiian BBQ stands.  I have never felt the need to stand in these lines as they are ridiculously long and I don't want to smell like bbq chicken for the rest of the day.  So, I've opted for the Greek stand (got the kabobs - just ok) and the tamale joint (not the same vendor that we had in the past so, not as good).

A lot of people buy their lunches and sit in front of the 10100 building and just look so darn uncomfortable!  I can't sit with a Styrofoam 3 compartment box on my lap.  I prefer to go back to the office instead.

TIP:  If you buy strawberries, beware!!!  These people fool you and put all the HUGE pretty strawberries on top and its ugly counterparts are just underneath.  Check them out before you buy!

so i work in century city, but sadly, i work at the far end opposite of the century city mall, distant from all sorts of activities that go on over near santa monica blvd. however, when thursdays come around, i make sure to have on comfortable shoes so that i can trek the 15 minute journey over the the farmer's market across from the mall. every time i walk over, i'm amazed at the number of people that are there because i'm so secluded on the other side. i get this surge of happiness from being around people other than my co-workers and the smell of food that it's always difficult to get myself to walk over to the dead side of town...

the grilled chicken vendor - grilled chicken with simple seasoning that's full of flavor (add some of their hot sauce for spice), delicious rice, with their salad. the line may seem long but it moves super fast so it is definitely worth a try.

blue cupcake - the cupcakes are AMAZING. i'd say better than sprinkles hands off. not as rich but still moist and flavorful. i love their peanut butter and jelly cupcake and the mini ones are delectable as well.

the rose man - i believe he started selling roses roses fairly recently and they bloom beautifully AND they last a couple weeks! yes, you just read that, roses that last at least 10 days. plus, if you walk by, he just hands you a rose and brightens up your day.

in addition, most if not all of the fruits and vegetable stands are fresh, well-priced, and delicious overall.

MENU:
variety of lunch items, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and desserts

PRICE:
i spend about $20 when i go including lunch

fresh's 2 CENTS:
if you work/live close to century city, come by the farmer's market on a thursday and spend an hour or so just browsing, taking in free samples, and buying goodies for the rest of the week!

This is my favorite farmer's market.

It's not too big (Torrance)
It's not too small (Mar Vista)
It's just right.

And it's clean - but that could be due to location.

It's in this courtyard of a section between the Wells Fargo building and other buildings I do not know the names of.

I have been coming to this farmer's market for the past 4 years and about a year ago or so - they moved it to this section (used to be on Constellation Blvd) and immediately, I was at 5 stars. =)

Because they moved it to this area - they have added more vendors I believe.

Either way, this is where I buy my weekly strawberry tray ($5 - I cannot find this price in any other farmers market & considering we're in Century City - that's a bargain on top of a bargain - Although I do remember the yesteryears of $4 a tray.)

I also buy the kettle corn here but the management changed or they have a different kettle corn business than the old farmers market on Constellation. They aren't too friendly, plus the kettle corn is not as sweet & not crunchy.

The fresh produce is all good & fresh. My latest weekly addition is the sweet carrots for $1.50 a bushel.

The burrito stand is ehhhh.

The Hawaiian bbq place is pretty good. Simple - white rice, piece of chicken, side of mesclun mix salad. They totally upped their price though. Before, they used to charge $5 for a quarter piece of chicken combo but now it's $7 I believe. Boo.

The Peruvian place is pretty good, but greasy.

4 seasons - a fairly new addition (only serve summer rolls) - Totally addicted (think Vietnamese summer/spring rolls super-sized - and there is your funch!) Plus, the owner even recognized me after just seeing me once. Now, when I see him, we're like old pals. Good service.

Eastern Grill - service is efficient but not exactly friendly. the food is ehh. my chicken was undercooked once and I have not gone back since.

Find me here every Thursday funch break.

This Farmer's Market makes me LOVE Thursdays.  It is very large, has a huge prepared foods section, and has pretty much anything you would want out of a Farmer's Market (vegetables, fruits, nuts, sweets, breads, flowers, etc...)

I have made my love of Farmer's Markets fairly clear, and this is one of the best.

As full disclosure, I am a little biased since it's walking distance from work...

I love farmer's markets!!

I've worked in Century City for the past 3 years and have been coming to this farmer's market almost every Thursday. I like the location move from the narrow sidewalk on one side of Constellation to the plaza off Ave of the Stars. There's more space and the layout is better, more spread out. I've been to many other farmer's markets and a lot of the vendors are the same (eg the one downtown on Wednesdays). I like this one so much because of the variety, I recognize a lot of the vendors, and it's just really convenient for me.  I used to look forward the Thursdays just because of the farmer's market.

It's a really great size and perfect for the lunch/business/corporate crowd.  It also has a good variety of flowers, fruits, produce, clothes/jewelry, and food vendors. OH. There's also this guy that sells "baked cheese crisp" but it tastes exactly when I used to microwave American cheese in elementary school!!! Hahaha. My coworker bought some once for like $5 and we made fun of him the whole afternoon. But really, the vendor guy is nice and I feel bad for making fun of his cheese.

Some of the lines get pretty long at the noon, peak lunch time, mainly the Hawaiian BBQ. The fruit is always fresh and I used to do my grocery shopping here. I really like how all the vendors do free samples. Don't walk through the smoke by the bbq place or your hair will smell of smoke the rest of the day!

This is a review about the Florist booth located at this Farmers Market in Century City.  From time to time, my s/o surprises me with the sweetest bouquets made with some of the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen from this place!  (And by trade, I work with many florists...)

Not quite sure where they bring in their inventory from, but they carry  Dahlias in a lovely shade of Cabernet Sauvignon, lilies, gerber daisies, peonies...  love them ALL!  *Of course it does help that the s/o happens to be a renaissance man and makes selections that deviate from your typical predictable roses*

This Farmers Market is opened 11:00a.m. - 3:00p.m. Thursdays in the courtyard on 1900 Avenue of the Stars. Park in Century City Mall and walk over the bridge over Ave. of the Stars.

This is my new Thursday lunchtime spot.  They got different food vendors here but the one that seemed to be a crowd favorite was the Hawaiian BBQ.. the line was super long dude..like no joke.

So I hit up the Peruvian stand, got the #1 Chicken, found a spot under the shade and was in heaven..  The chicken was marinated to perfection and tender.. just how I like it.  And it came with a cream sauce that you can pour over your rice or dip your chicken in.  So good!!  After I inhaled my food I took a walk around to see what else was going on... just your typical farmers market stuff like fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers.

I gotta stop getting my fruit @ Costco and start gettin em here..WORD EM UP!.

This is a review of the Tacos Ocotlan stand at the Farmers Market. The business card I picked up to better locate them on Yelp doesn't have an address for their mothership location, so I am thinking it's normally a truck operation.

In any case, I'm going to work my way through the hot food stands, and this was the first one of them for me. My asada burrito "combo" was only $6, so that was okay, but I've had WAY better burritos (see my review for El Gran Burrito) for half as much money.

Also, while this was technically a "Combo no. 4", the burrito combo merely comes with a soggy piece of tomato, a few wilted pieces of lettuce, and three chips. Count 'em. Three.

So 3 chips and an okay burrito isn't exactly my money's worth. Come back next week for the next installment of the Tour De Lunch at the Century City Farmers Market.

I must admit, I am not a frequenter of Farmers Markets, but this one is pretty lame. A few pathetic little stands randomly set up along the outdoor patio of 1900 Avenue of the Stars. Some of the booths definitely had some beautiful flowers and tasty and fresh fruits and vegetables though. The food stands also all looked pretty great. I went to the mediterranean booth and got a massive kebab plate - it was ok, didn't blow me away. Next time I will try the Hawaiian bowl booth. This is definitely a nice escape from the office if you work in Century City, but its certainly not an impressive farmers market.
