I came across this little shop after a recent trip to Pinkberry, down the street.  It was different from all of the other little shops on Newbury Street and I had to check it out.

Turns out, it's the most adorable little shop ever!  You can buy jewelry, garden gnomes, artwork, trinkets, dragons, and even fairy dust!  It's like the mecca of all things mythical.  These things are reasonably priced, too, despite being located in Back Bay.

The owner is charming and interesting to talk to.  I will be back again.

One of the loveliest gems of Boston.
Mike's stories and sweet demeanor create an enchanting world. In the end, it doesn't matter if you believe in these things or not. The aesthetic alone is worth it. Besides, Mike believes it. I love that he'll say, "We didn't open until noon today because the fairies were out partying last night. They drank too much absinthe." He tells great stories of how the shop originated and evolved, from its days as a tribute to The Crow, to withstanding the economy, to the music and art that have come through the doors over the years.

I have found my Mother's mecca...She's obsessed with all things fairy and angel related and this place was literally a godsend when I was trying to figure out what the heck I could get her that she doesn't already have.

Figurines, stuffed animals, books, calendars, fairy dust, jewelry and more...they even stock Labryinth related items (let's all pause, bow our heads and pay homage to David Bowie)...

The owner is adorable and loves to tell stories related to the objects he stocks in his store. It's clear he loves what he does, so it will make a believer out of even the most cynical Bostonian.

Like any true faerie mound, there is no large sign telling you its there.  Most often you stumble upon this little gem accidentally.  A series of gnomes lead you up the stairs and into a magical little world.  It is wall to wall fairies, gnomes, jewelry, sparkly pretty things that make us girlies go, "Ooooh!"  As it was my birthday, my sister told me to look around and pick out what I wanted.

I had no idea what to do.  It was all so beautiful.  But the moment I saw it, I knew I wanted it.  It was a fine silver sun-star pendant with a blue moonstone in the center.  Simple and beautiful.  I rarely ever take it off and its rich blue shade garners numerous compliments almost daily.

You can purchase from their website, however; they don't have my necklace available on there.  Also available are movies, posters, figurines, tarot cards, you name it.  Much of their stuff is craft work sought out by the shop owner.  All your fantastical dreams will be made real at this cute shop!  The real magic certainly happens the moment you are able to step inside.  Seek this place out!

When I first walked into this store, out of sheer and utter curiosity I might add, I began to think that I just smoked some of the best bud ever and magically became a cast member of the the 1988 classic "Willow".

This is definitely not my type of place, but whose ever it is would probably agree that they do it well. There's gnomes and fairies EVERYWHERE!!! The guy working here seemed like he had been smoking some of the aforementioned bud. He didn't smell that pleasing but I can let that slide, he is working a gnome and fairy shoppe.

There was many different items, from books to posters to figurines to you name, they've got it with a fairy on it. It was kind of overwhelming. I really wonder if there is that great of a need for enchanted trinkets in Boston? I'm mean, I know what rent on Newbury Street goes for for C's sake. My friend happened to pick up the book that had to be the most fairy erotica in the whole place. I giggled and it was clearly time for us to leave.

So cute, and yet, almost so purposeless.  But hey - we all need wee people to watch over and guard us right?

I went through a fairy phase in my teen years (yeah, I'll own it) but as an adult I find that fairies/faeries still frequently make great gifts for people - and in this little shop you'll always be able to find out about the small guardian you're purchasing.

The garden statues are probably my favorite but you can also buy all of your typical less intense fairy and others needs.

Man, I remember back in 1996 when this store was primarily dedicated to all things Crow or Brandon Lee related. Christ I feel old that I can remember when a store sold a completely different set of stuff. Obviously there's only so much merchandise one can get out of that franchise, and honestly that movie didn't age super well, so of course the logical conclusion is FAIRIES!

Snarkiness aside, I find the shop to be one of the more endearing little nooks on Newbury Street, which is alarmingly being taken over by chains because it's so quirky and charming and unashamedly un-hip. I love to browse here, though I don't know that I've ever bought anything save for a little wooden 3 legged pig and a packet of Nag Champa incense for my dorm room (because come on, what dorm room didn't have Nag Champa incense in it at some point?)

This is a great place to go gift shopping, especially if your friends are into Ren Fairs, the SCA, D&D, Harry Potter, or just plain old like fairies or magic or glitter. Though I'm guessing all those things pretty much go  together.

They sell mid range jewelry (lots of pewter, sterling silver, moonstones, etc), probably every book ever written about fairies, prints, trinkets, postcards, some Wings of Desire posters...just lots of cute, ethereal, fey stuff.

The owners are very nice and very chatty and friendly even to people like me, who lean way more towards the browsing than the buying.

Plus, I love a store that pumps Newbury Street full of bubbles in the summer.

Wow.  We were drawn in by the "chillin' with my gnomies" sign, hoping for a t-shirt.  They got 'em!  Quite a selection of gnomes and gnome-motif stuff.  We got a magnet with the gnome phrase and chatted with the owner.  He told us about the gnomes, how they earn their keep by protecting the place and cleaning up for him.  Uh...

I'm not much into their style of jewelry and design, so we didn't spend much time here.  Good place to shop for all your fairy and gnome-related needs, though.

This might be the most hilarious store to visit on Newbury...even over people confused about Johnny Cupcake or the Condom store. It's only a particularly hilarious experience if you interact with the owner who is truly in his own fairy world in the best way possible.

My friend decided to buy a stuff unicorn for her sister next to a sign that claimed they were the 'Softest Unicorns in the World". They were quite soft. In addition, he gift wrapped it, asking which color we would prefer, then gently placed the unicorn inside the bag with her head popping out so she could 'see where she was going' and see the world.

For a very fun story you should spend a little time in the store and talking to the owner and buying a little something. It's well worth at least stopping by while strolling Newbury.

I've been visiting this shop for years.  Yes, he's got a wide range of mythical statuary, shirts, jewelry, divination cards, postcards, posters, baubles and other trinkets.  It's a great place to find a unique gift.

But another reason to visit the shop is Michael, the propietor.  Knowledgeable about a wide range of topics, from classic rock bands to art history to Frank Lloyd Wright, he will gladly engage in a conversation with you about any of these and many other subjects for as long as he's able.  Combine that with the often eclectic and/or interesting people who routinely visit the shop, and you will soon realize that it's one of the last places in this godforsaken city with any amount of spirit left to it.  It's one of the last places in Boston where I can find an intellectually stimulating conversation AND a bottle of fairy dust for my goddaughter.

    Fairie and, gnomes goods.

    Cards - check
    Fairy dust - check
Chilling with your gnomes tshirt - check.

The store is tiny and is neatly filled with fairies and gnome related goods as well as other miscellaneous trinkets.  I have never bought a gnome there, they are quite costly.  I have no idea why would anyone spend their hard earned cash on a gnome statute, especially a pricey gnome statute, but go figure.

The store clerk appeared to have inhaled some of the precious fairy dust and he was making jokes with the local fairy gnome store goers.

Overall, the store is good for the local gnome fairy scene, random trinkets or can be double up a gallery visit.  Im a fan.

I have a thing for mermaids. A deep, long love of mermaids. Whenever I feel like a laugh or want some new mermaid thing I come here. The owner is so nice and friendly, plus so funny. I love how picking up a gnome results in him warming you that the bag might rustle later, but not to worry because it means he is just getting comfortable. Hilarious!!!

Aside from the statues, prints, and t shirts the store offers a wide selection of jewelry. They have simple pendents with loely sayings to detailed rings with semi precious stones. A wide selection with a wide price range. I have given quite a few gifts from here and gifted myself with a few things myself.

This is one of my favorite places to go on my lunch hour. I tend to stay away though because I ALWAYS want to buy something. Michael has an awesome collection of tarot type cards, gifts, jewelry, incense, etc. I just love escaping from the real world for a little while, and going to the land of fairies and gnomes. :)

I LOVE this shop. I found it in 2004 when I was in Boston for the Democratic National Convention, and I fell in love with the place. The bubble machine, the awesome ethereal-mystical-fairy atmosphere, the owner Michael's incredibly kooky and kind way of talking to customers ("would you like some fairy dust on that for good luck?"), and of course the merchandise. The whole place reminds me of a shiny, fantasy hippieland, with cool toys and jewery all over the place. I didn't return to Boston again until 2007, but the Fairy Shop was a "MUST visit" on my list. I've seen some pretty hard-to-find pieces in there, and I always come home to NY with some of the most uniquely beautiful items my friends have seen. If you're going to be in the area, stop in for a minute or ten. :)

This is probably one of my favorite shops in Boston. I have a pewter fairy collection, so that's part of the reason. But Michael supplies excellent quality jewelry, incense, candles and more as well. When a lot of shops on Newbury were closing a couple years back, Hope stayed open...and thank goodness! I don't know where else I'd get my dragon's blood incense fix (it smells divine!). Also where I get my amber resin perfume, which is very cool too.

I have been shopping at Hope for over ten years, and I absolutely love this shop.  The merchandise has changed very slightly over the ten year period, with more of an emphasis on fairies now.  Wonderful incense, exquisite jewelry, soaps, and more to tickle your fancy.  The bubble machine on the steps of the shop is fantastic, and beckons you to enter.  Highly recommended.

I've been coming here since 2002 when I moved to Boston.  The owner is one of the raddest people I have ever met. Whenever I am there, we have lengthy discussions about Shakespeare and goblins and such and such. I've always found incredible gifts in the shop, and also some amazing pieces for myself. They even have bracelets with Shakespeare quotes, and as someone whose life is spent in the study of The Bard I can hardly express my delight. I truly hope this store remains for a long, long time.

This store does a great job of creating a fairy-esque mood to it.  There are tons of awesome treasures in here, none of which are clich and are intended for children.  This store would do great business in Salem.  The owner is very nice and very helpful and can offer a lot of background information on whatever interests you.  Following the trend on Newbury Street, it's up there in the price range.

Beautiful gifts, ethereal artwork and fantastic soaps. The jewelry is beautiful and you can find different, whimsical pieces here. Great for gift shopping or picking up something you normally wouldn't just for a change of pace. I didn't notice the last time I went by but they usually have a bubble machine outside making it irresistible to go in.

I like this store, and I like the owner of this store (very nice person).  There are shirts in there that I like, one of which I owned already (a rock saying "You rule!" to a ruler and a ruler saying "You rock!" to the rock).  Lots of cool fairies and gnomes.  Not very useful things, so I'd say it makes a good gift store.

i love this place. Its a fairy fantasy world come true. Gnomes... everywhere! and he has the most awesome movies "the dark crystal" "the labyrinth" "never ending story" all my childhood love affairs. i bought an old school dark crystal poster and my boyfriend got a bunch of stuff for his brothers back home. When we were paying for our stuff, the owner showed us his comic book of the adventures of the kids in the dark crystal, and offered us and the ladies behind us to come back later and he would brew up some magic fairy potion. This guy is living in the clouds, but he's so awesome and so fun to talk to. i would recommend going in here just for a peak if you're walking along and are interested about the gnomes in the window
