10 reviews for The Face And The Body Day Spa
Face and the Body offers really awesome mani's and pedi's. Or if you are looking to be pampered for an hour or so with a massage, they are the place to go! But I would not recommend going there for a haircut. I made that mistake only once.
About an hour before my first (and only) hair appointment, I got a call from the front desk, asking if I could get there right away. Not a problem. I rushed down to the Brentwood location and proceeded to sit in the waiting area for close to 45 min! The stylist seemed to be out-of-sorts and was not aplogetic about the mixup. Her tools were subpar at best (brushes and hair dryer from Target) and her station was set up very strange- the cord of the hair dryer ran across my neck while she dried my hair. It felt like I was about to be choked. The "towel guy" came to visit while I was getting my hair cut and he made some fairly inappropriate comments, which was not impressive as a new client. And my haircut wasn't very good!
So for manicures, pedicures and a massage, go for it. If you want a good haircut, go elsewhere!
I used to be a fan of the Face and Body Day spa when I used to go to the one over in Clayton. I came to this Brentwood location just ONCE and it has turned me off from the whole establishment all together!
I came here to get my hair deep conditioned in the morning. I had an appointment and they still had me waiting here for 40 minutes until they called me back. Waiting when you've already made an appointment is so annoying right?! Then the lady just rushed through my service and told me that she didn't have time to blow dry because she was now running behind schedule. Then, when I go to pay, they didn't even knock off the amount for me not having my hair blow-dryed. Are you kidding me?!?! I was contacted three weeks after my service with a survey about my experience at the spa. I just threw down on that survey and was notified about two months later that they would send me a gift certificate to the spa. YAH, I never received the certificate which is alright with me because this one experience has turned me off from this place for good!
If you do get a gift certificate to go here, go to their other locations!
This place is very posh. I'd always heard about it on the radio and decided to give it a try before my wedding. You will be pampered in a lovely setting, and you will pay for that pampering. Some of you won't mind that, some of you will. Understand ladies, if you get your hair cut here, be prepared for a starting cost of $40 and expect it to go up if you add anything. That said, you'll come out with a great new do.
They offer a bunch of different types of massages, all by very experienced professionals, and they come with a professional price tag. I really want to try one, but haven't as of yet. The Face and The Body also does body wraps and laser hair removal. You can get your nails done as well, I got a pedicure. It was very nice, but the people who work here can be a little too professional and if you aren't from the posh part of town, it can make you feel a little out of place.
All in all, a very professional day spa that knows what it's doing and charges for it.
It's hard to feel pampered when a woman in a white lab coat is ripping the hair follicles from your skin with patches of glue.
Let's just say the ladies here got to know me very well during the several visits I'd booked in order to get ready for bathing suit season. They were so sweet and patient with me when I was new to the whole waxing thing, and even when I was a pro, they spoke so sweetly when they felt me squirming. Only once did I get a technician who was a bit snippy and cold, but the rest of the time the ladies I got were delightful. I didn't always get the ones I wanted because there's an option for booking appointments online that give you a 10% discount. You basically just take the person who has availability that most closely matches your own.
I came in here once for a manicure and it was a nice experience. The ambiance is indeed relaxing and the waiting room is very zen. The rates are fairly comparable, at least where the services I needed were concerned. It's clean and spacious and worth checking out.
Too loud and noisy. You have to walk thru the hair salon area to get to the spa. Not a relaxing enviroment. Other day spas are better (Wellbridge).
I was looking forward to a relaxing and upscale spa afternoon but did not experience it here. You have to walk through the salon area to get to the spa. It's a bit loud and chaotic. The changing room is tiny. There is no waiting room with relaxing, quiet music or water with orange slices - here is there only a couch in a dark corner next to the bathrooms (which are shared with salon). They also had the AC set at about 60 F - it was freezing. I guess this spa is OK if you need to pop in for a quick routine treatment but I would not recommend for a "spa day" because it doesn't feel like a real spa to me.
I LOVE Shelly's hair expertise. She's been cutting and coloring my hair since I moved to St Louis three years ago. She's taken me from a somewhat bland chin length 'do to a blonder, jaunty, spiky ultra-short haircut that gets me compliments from friends and strangers.
Valentina gives amazing pedicures, you will definitely be putty in her hands.
For a deep tissue massage, try to book an appointment with Lorien, she's awesome.
Barb took care of my follicular needs, I booked a series of laser hair removal services 3 years ago and haven't even needed a touch up since then!
Linda is a wonderful esthetician, her facials will leave you feeling pampered and freshened.
The ambience in the spa area is calm and soothing, I like to get my hair appointments in at the beginning of the day, before it gets busy in the salon.
The Face & The Body is hands down my favorite spa in STL. I scheduled appointments here for myself and my bridesmaids on a recommendation from a friend, and I was so pleased with the service here that now I go here exclusively for all my beauty needs. Services I can recommend from The Face & the Body's friendly and thorough staff: professional make-up, mani-pedis, massages, and facials. Seriously, I've probably partaken in everything this place has to offer and it has always been wonderful. You must check it out.
I find this place overpriced and snotty - which wouldn't bother me if the service or treatments were worth it. Sadly, they are not. Need your nails done? Go across the street and pay $16 at Beautiful Nails.
I had my first experience there (today) when I got a facial at the Brentwood location. I was pretty turned off when the esthetician attempted to sell me more facials right after I walked in the door. She asked about my skin problems and I told her about some dry patches on my face. Immediately, she pulled some kind of laminated card out of her pocket and attempted to sell me a package of facials. I hadn't even been in the room for 5 minutes. She then offered me some type of glycolic peel for an additional $44. Then, during the facial, she disappeared for long periods of time. I swear, when one of my masks was drying, she was gone for 25 minutes. On the way out, she of course, attempted to sell me some products that she had used on me. She was nice enough and I like the products that she chose for my skin but this place definitely has a corporate feel. There is nothing subtle about their selling tactics and this place does not have the elegant, classy feel of other spas that I've been to.
