I stopped in here because I was at Sutter Hospital across the street trying to get an MRI done when my earring got stuck :(
The people here were really helpful and friendly and they removed my earring for FREE!!!!!
I'll probably come back here to get the tattoo I've been wanting for years. The facility seemed really clean as I don't want to get hepatitis and end up back at the hospital :/. Stay tuned... -

Gifted Artists!
I got my first tattoo in March of 2010. Eric was my artist it went like this. We spoke about my concept and I drew as good a sketch as I was able. It's an armband. Eric took it and in the next week developed my crude concept into exactly what I had been looking for. The pain wasn't too bad until he got to the inside of my arm. When he did, he took smaller bites with the needle and eased in as slowly as was realistic. Not a bad experience and I'm very happy with the art.
I got my second tattoo in November of 2011. Andre was my artist and I brought him a printout of a QR code. The data contained in mine is a text message with instructions to be carried out in the event of my demise. He immediately recognized it as a challenge and saw the need for accuracy. After all, the objective is that it be scannable and deliver the message. I educated him a little on the nature of QR codes and how they work. I pointed out the most critical factors. He understood and paid particular attention to the critical areas. He kept re-assuring me and helping me through what little pain I had. I took pictures and attempted to scan it as he applied the ink. Then finally the phone vibrated in my hand indicating it recognized something, but what? It was my text message, exactly as I hoped.
I got pierced here too and that was an equally reassuring experience. That person left the shop on good terms a few years ago.
All in all, these guys give great customer service and do really good work. Tattooing is a very personal experience. Only get one from someone you like to talk to because you're going to spend a few hours together.. Someone you might consider to be a close friend. It's going to hurt so if you can't handle pain very well, bring a Lamaze coach or something to help you through it. -

I wish I could give Exotic Body more the 5 stars. I love everything about this place including the people and the art that comes out of here. I always see Drew Cano and send all my friends and family to him. The owner Mike is always super nice and goes out of his way to say hi to everyone. Keep up the great works guys!!!

I have been pierced by both Lisa and Mike. They are both amazing! Very professional and knowledgeable but they also keep it fun and relaxing.
I still have a few more piercings I want so I know I will be back, and I have been recommending them to all of my friends. Thanks, guys!! -

I cannot give a review for their work, but I will give one for their customer service.
I came in a few months ago with a problem with my cartilage piercing that I had done at Staircase in Santa Cruz about three years ago. I saw Lisa and she cleaned it out for me, and gave me some alternatives to try to save the piercing because I was ready to take that ring OUT.
Problem went away, and returned viciously over the past week. I couldn't take it anymore. Went back in and Lisa looked at it again and we both agreed that it should come out after she re-cleaned and inspected it. She was very gentle at handling the piercing, taking the ring out, and had a wealth of knowledge on what to look out for in the next few days, weeks and how to care for it without the ring.
She didn't charge me but I gave her a tip. She also told me that if I changed my mind and/or the site healed with the hole still open, that she would place my jewelry in for me in addition to inviting me back in if I have more healing question.
I am grateful for such good customer service, especially when I wasn't necessarily going in there to spend money. Speaks volumes for the kind of pride these employees have in their craft. -

My experience at Exotic Body was short but definitely sweet. I was nervous about getting my navel repierced after a not-so-pleasant previous experience but within a few minutes, Mike and the folks at Exotic Body had won me over. I couldn't help but feel secure about the vast experience that Mike has with piercings and felt comfortable that he would do what needed to be done to make it work this time. At the end of my appointment he made sure to tell me to contact him and the shop with any questions in the future and was truly genuine about it! I am very impressed with Exotic Body and would definitely recommend them for anyone looking to get a piercing at a quality shop. The ONLY reason they're not getting 5 stars is because it wasn't dirt cheap, but that's ok because you get what you pay for. :)

I had my nape and cartilage pierced here by LISA. I think she really knows what she's doing and she's good at it. Felt no pain at all when I got my cartilage pierced, but the nape..it hurted a bit...more like alot of pressure. I felt no pressure from Lisa at all..and she was actually really helpful. She told me exactly what she was gonna do before and she made sure I know where the piercings will go. She also gives good advice on caring for it and stuff. I had a good experience..don't think I will come back for anymore piercings cause I am done with all I wanted to do..but I will probably come back to change the color of the stones on my nape.

I went in for a repiercing, and appreciated how helpful and thorough Lisa was in explaining everything I needed to know about scar tissue, aftercare etc. She made sure to let me know about hesitations other customers have had about certain aspects so I would be sure to be happy with what I chose.
I would reccommend Exotic Body to anyone wanting to get pierced. -

I have gotten my last 5 piercings here by Lisa and, of course, Mike.
If anyone asked me where they should get piercings, there's no question to where I would refer them.
Here.
Clean. Friendly. Comfortable. Professional.
May I add...symmetrical and healthy piercings? They know what the eff they're doing.
I haven't gotten any tattoos here, though. Not yet, anyway. -

got my tragus done here with lisa and it was PAINLESS. yes i felt pressure, but no pain whatsoever. my housemate got her cartilage done too and she didn't even notice it was done until lisa told her! haha i also came back to get my industrial pierced.. this time with mike aka HMFIC. he was hilarious!!! even tho i felt the pain this time.. it was bearable and over pretty fast. i was feeling a bit light headed after and he gave me a cup of water and lollipop! im about done with piercings but if i change my mind or if anyone asks, i would definitely refer them here.
tragus - ~ $82
industrial- ~ $100
prices vary depending on what kind of jewels you want.. -

So I've been contemplating getting the ever dreaded much debated over dermal anchor. Pro's of the implant is that it is cute and somewhat temporary. The Con's are that it can be bloody, and it is temporary. Lisa of Exotic Body is very knowledgeable, respectful, and professional. She is a great piercer. I felt no pain. She doesn't try to sugar coat the process, she'll tell you straight up what the advantages and disadvantages are of getting certain piercings and jewelry. I highly recommend Lisa.

I got my nipple re-pierced here after I left the jewelry out for a few days. It was by far the most painful piercing I've ever gotten -- possibly the most painful thing I've experienced in life, in fact -- so I did not relish the idea of going through that pain all over again. I needed to have a 14 gauge tapered to a 12. The needle didn't even have to touch my nipple before I was quivering with fear.
Lisa was my piercer and she was perfect at what she did. Professional, friendly, and gentle. She gave me detailed, honest answers to the questions I asked. She knew I was scared so she did everything she could to make me feel as comfortable as possible. She began by sliding in a 14 gauge, which had no problem going through. Phew! Then came time for the taper to a 12. I breathed in, grit my teeth, kicked my feet, and it was over before I knew it. Nowhere near as bad as I thought it'd be. At least this time I didn't scream like a little girl like I did the first time around.
Lisa recommended I get different jewelry (internally threaded) because it was safer, so I did. That was an extra expense and seemed a bit pricey for what it was. Maybe I'm just used to the cheaper prices of externally threaded jewelry? I suppose the cost doesn't matter too much as long as you know it's going to be the best thing for you, but I felt like if I'd shopped around I could have saved a solid $10. Her services were reasonably priced, especially for the quality of services rendered; it's just the jewelry they gouge you on, it seems.
All in all, I walked out with a re-pierced nipple and new barbell for around $70, including a healthy tip. More than I'd wanted to spend but I was satisfied and won't risk going anywhere else to get pierced. A hearty thumbs up to Exotic Body. I'll be sure to spread the good word. -

Went in for a small wrist tattoo in October and Eric was my tattoo artist.
He drew up some quick samples of what I wanted, and he was done within an hour. He was very nice and made me feel comfortable with his work area; everything was clean and sanitized and he wore gloves. He even knocked some $ off the original quote since the tattoo was small so I tipped him pretty generously. We even talked about me doing future work with him.
Unfortunately, I guess he's gotten sick or something because I haven't heard back from him, or anyone else from the shop, despite my three phone calls for a touch-up. The work was fine and some touch-up work was expected but I was hoping for a return call and never got it. I spoke to the same person each time I called and she says she took my messages and would have Eric get back to me, but I'm having trouble believing that he's still ill now that we're going on January 2010 and my work was done in October (my first call to him was mid-November).
I will hopefully revise my review and rating after I get a touch-up done. In the meantime, don't expect reliability or follow-up from the shop if you get tattoo work done. I probably won't be getting my future work (which is going to be substantially more than a small wrist tattoo) there either. Bummer. -

The first time I ever went to Exotic Body it was because I had a problem with a piercing that I had received at a different studio.
My piercing had gotten infected to the point where I had seen the doctor, and was put on antibiotics. But after several days, the infection wasn't getting any better--it was getting worse.
The people at Exotic Body were able to help me with my infected piercing, and the allergic reaction I was having to the jewelry that had been sold to me as "hypoallergenic" by the other studio.
They were able to diagnose my situation (I didn't know that an allergic reaction to the jewelry was one of the the problems), found me jewelry that really is hypoallergenic and the correct gauge, and showed me the right way to care for my piercing so as to prevent further problems and scaring.
There is none of the "macho" or "anti-newbie" attitude that I have found at many other piercing/tattoo studios.
They are super knowledgeable and very friendly, and continue to impress me with their professionalism (that is so often lacking at other studios).
I refuse to go anywhere else for my body modifications. I'm only sorry that I didn't go to Exotic body for all of my previous piercings.
I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone even thinking about a piercing or tattoo. -

I had Yelp'd piercing shops in the Sacramento area - found this business, read the reviews, and went on their personal website - I was impressed.
I visited the shop on Friday, December 10th. As soon as I entered the building, it smelled very sterile and appeared clean. The woman (didn't catch her name) was very prompt on addressing my needs, checking ID, and starting my paper work. I was fortunate enough to get pierced by the owner, Mike. He had an interesting demeanor, very friendly, and seemed to know exactly what I wanted before I verbalized it. I had purchased new jewelry for my Madonna/Monroe, which was $55. The price left me speechless, but Mike explained why my current jewelry was "poo-poo ca-ca." I felt confident that I had made a better decision on my jewelry upgrade. As stated on the website, "We may not be the 'cheapest' in town, but when it comes to top-of-the-line jewelry we have some of the most reasonable prices." After swapping out my old jewelry, he then prepped for my anchor implant, which was $110 (jewelry included.) Mike continuously changed his gloves and pulled out unopened piercing supplies. The procedure itself was quick - I hadn't realized he was done piercing until he said I could get up. He provided me with a pamphlet that explained after-care and healing. I laughed when he commented, "Now time for the painful part.. PAYING!" $180 later, I felt confident paying the extra bucks to get pierced by a professional. I will continue definitely doing business here.

02/19/2011 UPDATE: I've been having issues with my Monroe piercing. Mike AND Lisa have been more than helpful in trying to figure out what the problem is. A sincere "THANK YOU" goes out to both of them for actually caring about their customers!

01/22/2012 UPDATE: Had my neck dermal removed today. Oddly enough, I was more nervous to have it taken out than put in. Thank you for the insertion, Mike. Thank you for the removal, Lisa. :) -

I did my research before even stepping foot in the studio. I was impressed their site had information about good vs bad barbells and explanations on internally threaded vs externally threaded. Plus they have videos explaining aftercare!
So that's what got me in the door, now let me tell you why I would go back!
Lisa did my piercing, she was very professional but very nice! She let me ask questions, explained the differences in jewelry, and was very good about my jewelry placement.( I was there for my navel pierced which had some scar tissue from a previous BAD pierce job several years ago.) I have to say the pain was very minimal, she has a very gentle touch. I will be going back to her for my next piercings! We went over aftercare, jewelry issues to watch for, and most of all if I had any questions to go back in and ask! (Which I feel MORE than welcome to do!)
The other guys in the shop said hi after the piercing, they were very friendly. I have to say the atmosphere overall is one I felt comfortable with and will keep me coming back! I haven't felt this comfortable in a shop since HPP up in Eugene, OR. -

As soon as I walked in Mike, the owner, had a very warm greeting. Right away I felt like I was more then just some random customer walking in for a piercing but someone important. I was pierced by Lisa, she did her job but didnt really go out of the way to talk to me as I tried chatting with her. Mike came in to chat while Lisa prepped the jewelery, and also made sure everything went smoothy and helped out when the ball didnt screw on. I was a little worried at first since the shop is in a housing district and appeared to just be set up in a house, but the moment I walked in all my worries dissapeared. The shop is very nicely set up, and very clean.
Without a doubt, and very soon, I will go back for another piercing :)Listed in: Sac

Upon entering the establishment I noticed it was pretty clean and sterile smelling. There's a gal with pink hair just sitting there behind the counter just going about her business. Not even a hi or hello. Okay? So I being raised right said hello to her. Looked up at us though. But no word. There was also a guy that came out d back, I said hey. No response back from him also. Wow. What a great way to greet customers guys. Still no help from anyone. I could hear crickets at this point. Then another girl starts up a vacuum from d back and makes her way to d front with no hi or hello also. Finally this other girl from d back poked her head out and asked if we needed any help? Finally. We were acknowledged. Wow!!! She then sends mike to help us. Pretty cool person. But next time please learn how to greet people and make it more welcoming. Thanks.

I went into Exotic Body this past summer and got my nose pierced by Lisa.
It didn't even hurt at all. Everything was really clean and Lisa was really professional and explained the procedure thoroughly. She didn't rush me and helped me choose the jewelry that I was most comfortable wearing. She let me know that I could call in anytime if I had any problems.
Safe place to get your piercings! -

Although the art was descent, the "identical" tattoos on my arms were done in different ink. Worse was the fact that I had to listen to endless talk about how one of the artists "won't tattoo faggots." I got two tatts and one piercing, after being referred by a friend. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. I searched and found a fantastic, professional business, with great artists.

Got my nose pierced by Lisa, she did an excellent job. She gave a step by step play of what she was doing and let me know exactly how to take care of my nose. I was shocked that it hardly hurt. The shop was clean and the staff was friendly. They had a great selection of jewelry. Very pleased! :)

I took my mom here to get her nose pierced today as a surprise for her 50th birthday! Yup! Her 50th! She'd been talking about doing it for some time, and I knew if I didn't just take her, she'd never do it. She had a great experience with Melissa who was very professional and courteous. Everything was laid out clearly on a sterile tray, and she did a great job explaining what she was going to do before the piercing and during. Out the door was $60 including the $10 aftercare kit. I highly recommend this place!

I've had one large tattoo done here as well as several piercings. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and always does a good job. I'm considering another tattoo and another piercing and Exotic Body will be my first stop. I've recommended it to several friends for first time tattoos and piercings and they've all come away impressed with the great staff and the clean, friendly atmosphere.

I went and got my nose pierced by Lisa today. I was expecting it to be crowded because it's a Saturday, but no one else was there. When I walked in, no one seemed overly enthusiastic about helping me, but they were all courteous. The shop was really clean. Lisa was very professional and spent some time explaining what she would be doing, showing me the jewelry, and answering my questions. The piercing was quick & painless and she made sure I knew that if I had any problems, I could come back in. Overall, a good experience.

My bf surprised me with a tragus piercing for xmas. Earlier during the day he had visited several other shops and Exotic Body made the best impression on him. The facility was clean and Lisa was very professional and knowledgeable. Although I was nervous, she was very personable and made me feel completely at ease. A few weeks later I received an email from Lisa asking if my piercing was healing fine. It was nice to see that she cared enough to follow-up on her clients. This is the best place for piercings without a doubt!

Lisa saved me a good amount of money by not having to re-pierce my ears and instead tapering them. She is very professional and everything was very clean and sterile. She took her time explaining things and showing me different jewelry. I like that they have a large selection of jewelry but it seems a bit pricey. Still I felt I was given a high level of service.

I came here on a recommendation from a friend who had been pierced here. It was a Tuesday evening, so I figured it would be pretty empty, but they were having some kind of piercing special there. Since I was going to be a paying customer, I didn't have to wait all that long, but Lisa gave me a discount and kept thanking me for waiting. I was there to get my tragi pierced and she let me look at several gems against my ear before I chose the one I wanted. The piercing went off without a hitch. Lisa gave me the aftercare and told me to call if I had any problems, questions, etc. It has been a few weeks now and my tragi have healed nicely. They are barely sore and I think they will heal up nicely. I don't think I will go anywhere else to get a piercing.

i've had multiple experiences with this shop. the staff are very helpful if you know nothing of body art, however if you do they like to make you think you don't and treat you as if your stupid. i was told by the artist there that did work on me i only get one touch up and it has to be within 30 days. last time i checked a good artist gives you lifetime touch ups so you don't walk around with crappy work from them. well needless to say he couldn't fix it the secondt time, and another artist couldn't fix my husband's the third time. exotic body is great for a "friendly and knowledeable" atmosphere, but i would rather be ignored and get good work!
