Mmmm...brisket oh how I love you. Your delicious flavor, your tender pull off the bone nature. How you melt in my mouth with each delectable bite.

I can't even begin to describe how surprised I was the first time a friend mentioned the Yacht Club having good grub. I mean sure, I've stopped in a few times for a beer. I enjoyed the company some friendly folks saddled up at the bar next to me, but did I ever think to order? Of course not, I made a flawed assumption. Seeing how making assumptions in general is always a bad idea, I was delighted to give it a try. Boy oh boy - it was awesome. The brisket sandwich with the Brunswick stew is full of flavor, tender, and really something I find myself craving sometimes.

Before you jump right into your entree start with some boiled peanuts. The salty moist flavor gets your palate properly prepared for what is to follow.

The crowd is great, the location is superb, and surprisingly the food is better than noteworthy.

I know that I had an entire meal here, but I can't remember what it was. I completely blame that fact on the succulent tots I had alongside my... main meal. Huh. I don't know if that means whatever sandwich thing I chose wasn't good or if the tots simply overshadowed it with awesomeness, but if you love tots, that's one thing they do well here.

The tots were good, the waiter was incredibly attentive and patient as we stumbled our way through the menu, and the beers were reasonably priced. It wasn't too loud, though as I left trivia was about to begin so I'm sure that small, packed space got a little bit rowdier. Still, it was low enough pre-trivia for our group to chat with one another, and I loved that it was around a giant round table. Much easier to talk to everyone when you're not on plank!

On the night I was there, they were having a Christmas contest where you built funky gingerbread houses. The voting had already been done, but it was fun to walk around and see how creative people were! It was also nice to see a bar sponsoring an event like that. Anything that gets people involved with creativity gets a big gold star in my book.

Parking is crappy, which is my one drawback to anything in the Little 5 area. You'll spend more time trying to find a place to rest your car than it takes for you to complete your meal from start to finish!

As much as I really want to love this place, I just don't think it's going to happen (I'm trying, I really am). I really really love Dive Bars, and I hate that it is not happening. It mostly has to do with the service, it is just sub par. While meeting friends there for a few drinks on a Wednesday night we had to wait 20 minutes to get a second beer and it was all because our server said that he had to deal with some "drama"... b.o.r.i.n.g.... I don't care, keep my palate wet mister!

At any rate, they have some pretty yummy bar food (boiled peanuts included) and the crowd is the usual Little Five folks. There's always something interesting going on outside and it's in a good location. I will keep going back, but maybe next time with my own flask ::tsk tsk::

oh what a wonderfully wierd night i had at the yacht club. perfect for a sporadic monday night. meeting friends out for beers or just slumming it alone and making your own destiny happen. I love places where it's not the least uncommon to sit at the end of the bar by yourself and drink yourself to oblivion....yes, i am a fan!

The beef brisket here is better than many a bbq restaurant, try it. They often have great specials, and while service can be slow, it is generally due to the volume and not incompetency. It is a dive bar type atmosphere but the food is really, really good and the drinks are cheap and strong. Long Live the Yacht Club.

I don't get the love for this place.  I understand that it's a dive bar, and I'm not opposed to them.  But the service here has SUCKED on most occasions I've visited.

Also, there is a difference between a "dive bar" and a "creeper haven."  My drinking experience is NOT enhanced by having to constantly hide from creepy aging men who don't know how to take a hint.

Overall this place is pretty awesome. I have been eating and drinking here since it's inception.

Great bar food and decent priced drinks. The BBQ is excellent.

My one gripe would be that the wait staff sometimes disappear for a bit too long.

"It's a classic place with good food."

The Yacht Club is a Atlanta Little Five Points landmark. The place is always hopping and the staff is cool and service minded. You'll see lots' of tattoos and hip clothing. The food is above average... try the hot dog. The great beer selection keeps me happy.

I love the Georgia State Patrol car door above the bar. Bring your darts too. Great people watching out the front windows... little 5 rocks!

The most non yacht club environment ever.  This was a staple of our happy hour circuit for many years when I worked downtown.  Haven't spent a ton of time here later in the evening, but I can attest that it does get packed and getting service can be spotty....which is typical for most small, semi-cramped dive bars.  What I like are the little nooks near the front windows.  Just a bench and a railing is all you need.

Beer selection always changes and there's enough to please the beer snob and the beer slob, are all equal at the Club.  They used to be the only place in town that had Abita Purple Haze on draft, which I love.

As for the food, there are two standouts:  the Brunswick stew and the pull pork sandwich platter.  Who woulda thought the best stew and pork in the City is in L5P?  It is.  I swear to god that sandwich (w/ 2 sides for $7) is the best thing going.  Perfection on a Challah.

The EAYC is L5P.  Everyone, from toothless bums to yuppie scum, all come together to drink in dark, tacky, wonderfulness.

No douche bags with polo's at this yacht club.  Huzzah.  Definitely an odd place, and I think It's the kitsch that makes it good.  Normally I get all itchy and paranoid when there is this much useless shit tacked up around me (ala irwin st market), but it made me feel at home here at this fine dive bar.

I mean really I would probably give this place 3 stars in terms of comparing to other establishments, but because of the originality and the fact that it seems like a nice dive bar to me, I'm kicking it up to 4.

Had a few beers here, and was adventurous enough to get a veggie burger to sop up the brews.  Actually the v-burger wasn't too bad!  Didn't gag!  Not even once :)  Nothing I would seek out of course, but I wouldn't be afraid to order it again.

Wasn't too smoky in the non-smoking section, and the seating makes it possible to gather with a reasonably sized group of friends.  Eclectic mix of people are guaranteed in L5P - making for an interesting evening.

Can't offer you much more than that, so check it out sometime.

We made an appearance here about 1:30am on a Saturday night after a friends 30th b-day party, and it had begun clearing out by then. Classic dive bar, cool waitstaff, cheap beer and a GREAT, perfect (new?) dartboard in the back.  The dartboard is isolated in its own little pocket so that errant darts won't endanger those heading to the bathrooms next to it...when the birthday boy was throwing, this became a particularly important feature.  Repeat, GREAT dartboard.

I love dive bars. One of my best friends was telling me how he prefers malls rather than bars when it comes to meeting the opposite sex since the former are smoke and alcohol free and generally more conducive to attracting a better clientele. I disagree.

When it comes to the prospect of "hooking up," I find anything other than a dive bar to be a little too polished and a little too upscale for such activity. The Yacht Club is one of my favorites for many reasons too obvious to mention. Perhaps it is the location in L5P. And the food is above average; I would argue that it is often excellent. The service is always solid.

My favorite menu item is the BBQ beef brisket burrito. To some it may sound gross; however, I find it to be the perfectly simple combination of sweet and spicy; tender spicy beef marinated in a sweet BBQ sauce paired with BBQ beans and cheese in a flour tortilla. A nice consolation prize in lieu of not finding someone to make out with at the end of the night.

Ahh where to start. Anyone of the regulars will tell you it's their "home away from home" and you'll notice once you step in.
Formerly a well-known "biker bar" the EAYC welcomes everyone! i mean everyone!  from hippies to biker to young professionals to old professionals etc. You will never feel like outsider in this little joint.
Mondays are especially awesome when they have Trivia with Robert Holland as the MC. The staff is friendly and accomodating and the food is offthe chain! (try the briskett! I promise!)
Stay a while and you'll be sure to make new friends and have interesting conversations with any of the regulars

Agreed...one of the best bars in Atl b/c it hasn't change much even thought L5P has. The food is not bad for a dive bar...especially when the cook reminds me of Rob Schneider in "The Hot Chick". No wonder why the hot dogs are so good here. Boomcha!

The Philthy cheezsteak and the Reuben are tasty copycats of the real thing. Th Brunswick stew is passable...it needs Lima beans! The BBQ is fine for a quick fix (I would head to Fox Bros first then come here).
I love it when there's tons of bikes lined up in front of the EAYC...makes for a great photo.

Grub is good, crowd is better, staff is great....Gino, PBR tall boy pweez!
Vroom vroom!

Much deserving of its dive bar status, the Yacht Club's name is deceiving to any newcomer. It's as far away from boat shoes and seersucker as possible and is a Little Five Points mainstay.

The best thing about the Yacht Club is the kitschy collection of menu items. I mean, roasted AND boiled peanuts? Deep fried Yacht Dog? Pulled pork? And the ability to get mashed potatoes instead of French fries? I like it.

If you need a drink ASAP, check out the bar - the table service may take a while.

Dive bars in L5P are not my thing, but I had to meet some of my fellow Yelpers in person.  Must admit that I was not too focused on the space and more into conversation with the Yelp Crew.  However, the Yacht Club was about like every other dive bar I been to; smoky, lots of beer on tap, PBR, fried food, mediocre service, and dcor that has accumulated (like dust) over time.  I stuck to the stuff you really can't screw up like beer and boiled peanuts.

I would probably go back if I decided to grow a ponytail and start leering at girls half my age. :D

The Yacht Club was pretty interesting, like almost every little shop, restaurant and bar in little five points.  Actually, because of my suburban dwelling geographic location that has been existent from my youth until the present, this place was really interesting.

One of the biggest contributing factors to the appeal of this bar has to be the unique and diverse customer base that frequents the location.  I remember looking around at each table and noticing that none of the individual groups in the entire place were remotely similar to one another.  You had the biker guys sitting at one table, the 40-60 year old Hippie looking college professors sitting at another, and a group of young college kids sitting at the table next to them.  The place had so many different groups of people I felt like I was a guinea pig for some weird sociology experiment.

Our particular waiter for the night was a real nice guy.  He made sure to check on our beverage depletion level every 2-3 minutes, which automatically qualifies any server for a gold star in my book.

The entire place was also furnished with pictures and various adornments that looked like they had been purchased from an antique store or pawn shop in the 70's, which I though gave it an ample amount of character.

During my visit I really just drank beer, so an honest review on their food is going to be a stretch; however, the one of the guys in my group did eat a burger which he noted as, "tasting pretty freakin' good."

L5P has no shortage of dive bars (Star Bar, El Myr, Vortex), but the Yacht Club is still a welcome component of this rebel neighborhood.

The best seat in the Yacht Club is the big table at the front of the side room. In the summer, they open the front windows. If you pass by and notice your friends sitting in front, you can literally step through the window and join them. I don't know if the bar owners encourage this, but it's possible nonetheless.

The only problem with the Yacht Club is that it's a popular spot and on weekends it's tough to get a seat. But such is the price of fame.

I have only been to this bar once during the L5P Halloween Fest. The first part of the evening was fairly ok and the people were nice enough, but the latter half of the evening ended in disaster. One of their bartenders, dressed up like a whore-ish Little Miss Muffet, decided to act like a raging cunt. I was celebrating my birthday with 6 other people and we opened a tab. We drank for a few hours, but tipped her after every drink in cash. Between all of us this bitch easily made at least a couple hundred bucks. We decided it was time to go home, but asked for a round of shots (including one for the bartender) before she closed up the tab. As she poured out the shots she angrily snapped at me 'You better fucking tip me.' I was completely stunned by this ungrateful twat signed my tab and left her assorted change I had rattling around in the bottom of my purse. She actually came around the bar, got in my face, and screamed for me to get out. She was obviously deranged considering she was following me on my way out of the establishment.

Outside of the bar we met a group of people who were outside escaping her shit attitude and mood so its obviously not something we did. She berated everyone she served. I was so put off by this I haven't gone back since, but for good reason. A week later someone in one of my classes reported a similar experience in that bar and described that manic bartender to a T.

This is a dive bar that delivers what it promises: A divey good time. When I was there they were playing some nice loud indie-ish rock music and I think a little bit of hip-hop. There is a nice long wooden bar on one side and plenty of table seating on the other side.

Nice beer selection: probably 10 or 12 draughts and 20 or so bottled beers, including lots of local sweetwater and terrapin microbrews. Plus they have the cheap cans of pbr and schlitz.

I didn't try the food, but it looked like they had a barbecue menu. Definitely a great place to get your drink on.

The closest water to the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club is a retention pond. But don't let the irony dissuade you from visiting a local landmark.

I can't recall every having food at the Yacht Club. I've always been there when on a serious drinking mission, which food would only detract from. Judging by the other patrons in the place, a lot of people use the Yacht Club for the same purposes. It's a good time, and definitely no hassle to hang out for hours and forget about the world outside. Parking will never be easy in Little Five Points, but that's part of the fun. Seriously. You'll get to walk through the rest of L5P and see the sights on your way to the bar.

This is the neighborhood bar that makes me want to live near L5P.  I've got a friend who's somewhat of a regular, so I've spent many a happy hour here, knocking back a few beers and shooting the breeze with the staff, who are great when they're not too slammed (well they're great when they're slammed too, but not as into shooting the breeze).  The first time I had dinner here was an accident - I just ordered some gumbo (the special), because happy hour had stretched into dinner and I was hungry.  Freaking fantastic!

As a dive bar connoisseur, I really *want* to like the Yacht Club. But, alas, I just don't. I'm sorry Yacht club, but I just don't find you attractive.  The few times I've been here it has been packed to the rafters and a total hassle to get a drink. Plus, when I've been here with my lady friends we've spent the evening dodging creepy dudes who can't take the hint that we're *not interested.*

Take a dive at the E.A.Y.C.

The Euclid Avenue Yacht Club... my favorite watering hole in Little 5 Points, and one of the best(if not the best) bars in the city. Everybody from Hog-riding bikers to members of the local hard-rock and Dead Head scenes to the occasional Virginia Highlands refugees hang out at this offbeat joint. Nautical decor and colorful personalities notwithstanding, the Yacht Club serves up potent cocktails and just about any domestic brew you can imagine. This is where the locals hang, especially before and after a show at the Variety Playhouse down the street. Loud, pub-like and as comfy and worn as an old shoe. Many of my tales come out from this joint... Stop by when you have a chance, enjoy a cold tall boy PBR, eat some of the best BBQ intown, and challenge me at a dart game if you dare ;)

The two stars are for the one night I had a really good time there.  Minus three because every other time I have either not been served at all (waited a good 15 minutes at the bar holding both my ID and money out) or missed half a show because I was waiting for an hour for the bill (yup we asked for it).  I'm sticking with El Myr and Corner Tavern if I'm out in L5P.

I went there the other day with my friend. The place itself is kind of grungy, but absolutely adorable. It encompasses what Little Five Points is in one tiny dive bar. There are different groups of people there, mostly locals, and there is a full bar with, well, every drink.. ever. Very casual and fun. Always a good handful of people there. It is very cheap which is good, and the food was excellent for the price! I got a quesadilla with chicken for like $7! Plus the beers and stuff are cheap but delish as well. I've had a great experience with the EAYC, but one time I went there with my friend for lunch, and he ended up getting food poisoning which is why I'm giving the EAYC 3 stars. He ended up puking yellow stuff all over his car... pretty gross! I guess just stay away from the friend chicken wrap..

The Yacht Club is a great place to grab a beer with friends and a quick bite to eat. IMO we really need more local neighborhood spots like this around town. No attitudes, just laid back people enjoying the moment. They hands down make the best hot wings in town. I suspect the other food is good, but since I always order the wings I can't say for sure. Beer prices are affordable, so you don't have to worry about overly inflated prices that are so common in bars.

Problems include parking (it's L5P) and you have to spend at least $20 to use plastic.  But, if you're like me or my friends, that isn't going to be a problem.

This smoky neighborhood tavern is filled with locals. I've seen old men in their buttoned up flannel shirts yapping about Bush, younger 20 something know it all discuss the meaning behind some overly advanced literally movement that I don't an will never understand, and somewhat out of place college girls ordering a beer in between their fashion fabulous boutique hopping Saturday afternoon.

The place pretty much resembles your attic, a collection of trinkets full of dust and grime that adds character to the place. From a random mini iron bicycle to a full collection of encyclopedias (probably never been opened) to black and white framed photos of fishing trips, you are sure to find something to strike up a conversation about.

Oh this place has earned my Love.. First of all It was another Great UYE.. and the folks are always fun and chatty.
As soon as I entered the bar/ restaurant, I tried looking for the Yelp Balloon, but since I was early, Jason K. with his balloon was not there yet.. But unknown to me, I asked the staff (Gino??) if any Yelp event members  were seated yet.. He gave me a bizarre look, asked me to repeat what I said 3 times, and smiled, and nicely said he thought I was making it up.. hehehhe (but he was being funny).. then he seated me at the bar and poured me a glass of red wine.
To my surprise as I looked around, people were eating with their kids, and no one was really smoking, and if they were it was nicely ventilated in a way that I couldn't even really tell.. So I was so Happy!! and VERY relieved...ok so moving on to my novel :
Well the next cutely dressed gal who walked in the door and looked as lost as me- well I went for it, and asked her if she was here for the Yelp EVENT..well she was not.. it happens that she is a stationary designer meeting a client, but she was friendly, we chatted about what yelp was about.. and the next thing I know it, in comes Jason K.-
What is my point in this? Well the people who hangout here seem all very nice and friendly, not the scummy , smokey bar I had envisioned in my little head. I would definitely come back.. and the fact that Naoya Got me to order a Brat w/ plenty of Sauerkraut.. w/ a dark beer.. well I cannot complain.. the side order of tator tots was YUMMY.. so crunchy.. I loved tator tots when I was a child- and eating again last night reminded me how wonderful it was.

Side note*****
Great Staff! especially Gino.. he was very nice!
They were great with all the credit cards that came flying their way.. so if you are going with a large group in which folks need to pay separately this is a gracious bar who will definitely accomodate..

This place is the embodiment of "dive bar".  Cheap (but strong!) drinks and bad service, lots of cigarette smoke and cramped seating.  I wouldn't change a thing.  Well, maybe more seating.  The food is your average bar food, edible and filling but nothing you'd write home about the next day.  This is a great place to come with your friends and *try* to get a seat and then spend the night getting tanked and bullshitting.  One of the last times I came here some random guy sat down with us and told us his life story, which was actually very entertaining for my friends and I.  Everytime I come here, something interesting happens.

Seriously the waitress was so horrible. However the Mahi was really good considering I'm int he middle of L5P without an ocean near me. my friends got some mini corn dogs which were really good too. The food was great which is why EAYC is getting 2 stars and not one. I have never had worse service. My friends were drinking beer and a good 45 minutes would pass before she would even offer them another one. Thing is the table next to us seemed to be getting wonderful service. Which ticked me off even more. I normally don't give horrible reviews but I have been a waitress before and knowing how expensive drinks are means you should try harder to keep people drinking. Also at the end of the night we asked that we could have separate checks. I understand if you don't do separate checks but please don't bring us your chicken scratch hand written check and say "here just figure it out" and walk away. It made me so upset I don't think I will go back there are plenty of other places in L5P I don't have to go to EAYC not to mention East Atlanta Village isn't too far away.

Don't let the name fool you; this ain't your Daddy's Yacht Club!  Good place to catch up with friends because no one is going to be picking you up in this place.  The music is low so you can actually hear what your friends are saying.  They don't have a jukebox so hopefully you like what they are playing because they will play the whole CD.  The table service is slow but the service at the bar is usually quick.  No need to bring out "the girls" to get a drink, it probably wouldn't work on this crew anyway.  I think they've seen it all.

So there is basically one thing that a restaurant/bar can do that will automatically get my approval: sell boiled peanuts! The yacht club does this and much much more! Every single time I go to the yacht I find something new on the wall. One of my favorite things is this really cool anchor mirror in the back girls bathroom..check it out. Anyways the food is great! I am quite partial to the BBQ brisket plate (small size is all you need!). You can never go wrong with their specials. I know the kitchen manager and she really cares about making great food so there is no shortage of delicious (not so nutritious sometimes) food! Great staff and really interesting regulars!
