It's the little white cottage with red roof and red shingles--you can't miss it, because when you drive in the gravel drive a feeling of...well...enchantment comes over you!
The owners, Sally and George, are more friendly and helpful than we could have hoped for...and once we got the tour and the rundown of the area, they were off, and we were left to enjoy our own little cottage!
Inside has a rustic kind of charm...exposed wood is reminiscent of years ago, and reminds us of the many children and adults, alike, who vacationed here. The couches and chairs are cozy, a factor doubled with a few crackling logs on a breezy New England night in their beautiful fireplace (with stones from their very own beach, beamed Sally on our initial tour!). The kitchen is more than adequate, and outfitted with every staple and amentity we could ever imagine we needed (muffin tins came in especially handy for the fresh fruit from the Vegetable Stand up the street & the Tri-Berry Muffin recipe on the side of the refrigerator!)! The sun porch was ideal for a cocktail to start the evening, and the dining table fit our lobsters & corn...and dinner guests...quite comfortably. Bedrooms and bathrooms are all decorated in a different color scheme, all cozy and inviting (including the red claw-foot bathtub in the 2nd floor bath!).
The area is charming and relaxing...and a short drive in most any direction takes you to idyllic Maine destinations--within minutes, or at least less than an hour! We will surely be back for years to come!
