I went to the Empty Vase while bopping around town buying random gifts for work people and fell in love!  I saw such unique, creative, beautiful, playful arrangements that I literally gasped when I walked in, and when I got back to work, immediately emailed anyone likely to buy me flowers and told them this was the only place to go (anyone likely to buy me flowers knows how picky I am!!!).  I live in SF now and there's not a lot I miss about LA - Take, Asanebo, Jones, BLD and Empty Vase are really the only things that I have not been able to replace.  I am currently on the look out for an amazing florist in SF, but I'm not holding out hope that any place can top the uniqueness of Empty Vase.

For a birthday I ordered an arrangement of orange and yellow tulips (which were indeed marvelous and very unique).  As a previous reviewer stated, from one glance the recipient of these flowers immediately knew that they were from the Empty Vase.

When ordering the tulips earlier in the day, the lady I spoke with over the phone was very helpful and suggestive throughout the whole process.  I ended up coming by during the afternoon to pick up my flowers and they even put the arrangement in a box for me so that the water in the vase would not leak into my car.  While the prices are high, you get excellent service as well as unique and absolutely amazing flowers that will literally knock the socks off of whoever you send/give them to.

Beautiful designs (check out their website) and good service.  Prices are not inexpensive but you receive lovely arrangements that are a cut above others.  Empty Vase is the shop for all my flower needs in the pursuit of beautiful women (who I hope won't be reading this review....).

In a city where loyalty is rare, I was a long-time client of The Empty Vase to the point where I was known by my first name.  I'm not sure when their decline began, but after my past order/delivery, I spoke with my client who was less-than-happy with her arrangement.  Turns out, the flowers I requested where not at all what was delivered.  After further investigation, The Empty Vase admitted the flowers I specifically requested were not available, so they chose something different.  That's not a problem to me, if I had been notified or asked if there were a second preference, but a designer simply decided to substitute a flower she liked, which turned out to be a disaster.  Tip of the day, verify the florist has the flower / color scheme / vase / inspiration you've requested or risk having the delivery something totally out of left field.  Oh, and the icing on the cake...The Empty Vase refused a refund on the botched delivery.  I'm back to Suzanne LeMay and Eric Butterbaugh.

Great place for some unique flowers and it's really easy to order from their website.   I have ordered from them for numerous business events and I always get compliments.  

The flowers are very fresh but be careful about the tulips- they died the same day I got the delivery (not the easiest flowers to deal with).

I just came from a meeting with Yvonne, the events coordinator.   Paul and I met with Yvonne to discuss the flowers for our wedding....prior to the meeting, I spoke with Yvonne over the phone about the overall plan/expectations.  When I mentioned that our wedding is going to be small/intimate, in Paul's folks garden/back yard and I hoped that having such a small wedding would be ok/worth her time, etc...Yvonne said that they consider each wedding the same, no matter how large/small or how large/small a budget...they feel that each one is special!  So, that was great to hear.

Yvonne was pleasant and helpful...gave us a lot of great ideas and really made me feel at ease!  We looked a photos of where the wedding will take place and photos of my gown....then looked at photos of flower arrangements.  Yvonne really seemed to get our vibe and knew exactly what we were looking for!  :)  I am so excited about what the flowers will look like.

So, five stars for the AWESOME Yvonne and for how beautiful the flowers in the stores/show room looked like....will update the review after the wedding to let everyone know about how the actual arrangements looked!

SERIOUSLY?????  NO, REALLY?  ARE YOU SERIOUS?

With so many discerning Yelpers whose taste and self-expression I admire, Empty Vase has only received one other review and that was back in September?!?

SERIOUSLY?

For the last three years, I have not purchased flowers to be delivered in the Los Angeles area from anywhere else, other than Empty Vase.  Wait, I take that back - I bought some from Teleflora or 800-FLOWERSNBITCHINESS or some such place for Valentines.  Having rid myself of that foolish impulse once and for all, I will never buy elsewhere again.  Empty Vase offers three very important things:

1.  Gorgeous, stunning, interesting, fresh arrangements EVERY TIME.
2.  Above average customer service (Oh, sure...they are less than chipper on Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and Administrative Assistant Day - changed in 1998.  But they let you know that they are doing their best and ask you to bear with them.  That's all I want to hear.)
3.  A very wide price range - something for every budget.

So, my new on-line community.  Tell someone you love that you 'heart' them today by filling their empty vase.  

Or send them an arrangement from my favorite florist.

Yvonne helped me coordinate the flowers for my wedding and they came out beautiful.  They are one of the best florists in town.  I always say you get what you pay for.  Yvonne was always available and since she used to be an event planner she answered all my questions even when they weren't about flowers.  She has so much elegance and style. I will purchase all my flowers here from now on.
