Though The Edgewater Hotel isn't in  the best location for me, I would definitely stay there again during my next visit to Seattle.  After getting a good http://Expedia.com deal (not including $36/day valet parking and drinks at the bar of course) our final bill was relatively inexpensive.  The decor has a "woodsy" theme, but not terribly rustic - more modern/chic than anything.  The bathroom was modern and comfortable  though our room didn't have a tub (other rooms do though).  We were street side and the all-night Amtrak and freight trains could keep you up at night, but there wasn't a lot of street or foot traffic in general.  The gas fireplace was a nice touch and kept our room VERY warm.

The gym was small but efficient and clean and the restaurant/bar (we only hung out at the bar side) is quite fun with a nice view of a water.  Of course its going to be a little pricey.  You're paying for the decor, the view and the convenience of dining and/or drinking in - especially if its pouring out!

I'm on a hotel rampage! I have my reasons.

Edgewater is extremely unique. It's funky retro woodsy modern shabby slick. It's literally right on the water - so much so that it sticks out over the waves a little bit. Sources say The Beatles fished out of their room's window back in the day.

Anyway. I love when my friends stay here, and I've never heard any complaints. It's got VERY nice presentation right when you walk in. Great, grand, gorgeous lobby - incredible view of water, West Seattle, the islands, maybe a ferry. It's on the higher priced side - $250+ for a room - but it's got way more character than comparable hotels in the area. You won't forget your room at this place. Cozy, gorgeous, and funky.

The restaurant/bar 67 is sweeeet. Happy hour is amazing... and packed. Keep that in mind.

Location is pretty rockin' as well. Just steps away from tourist heaven - the waterfront. Besides the waterfront, most everything is severely uphill. If you're coming from a flat city, you've been warned. Otherwise it's a quick, cheap cab ride anywhere downtown.

I will definitely stay here again just for the location.  My room was very clean and nice but pretty small.  I didn't mind because I got a great deal on Travelocity and I like the city view.  The location was the best.  I was able to walk everywhere.  And when I got tired of walking, they offered free shuttle service downtown every hour.  And a Town Car airport service when I left for about $5 more than a cab ride.  It was nice.

The bar and restraurant were amazing... but a little pricey.  The view was incredible and the food amazing.  I had a small party (~20 people) in the bar area on a Friday afternoon with little trouble.

Sadly,  $400 too late, I realized this hotel is extremely overrated.

The $400 a night water views have no balcony and are quite small despite claiming to be "deluxe" rooms.  For overall appearance, the place generally had an unfinished look to it.  Not as polished as expected.  It definitely didn't come off as fancy and posh a place as I expected at all.  They messed up my room and gave me a room a class lower than I reserved with a view of the dock and some oh-so-romantic industrial sized cranes right across from us.

I also requested champagne and strawberies to be in the room upon arrival since it was a special romantic surprise weekend.  They weren't in the room.

I had to sneakily go back downstairs to the front desk (fortunately I had an excuse - the room was wrong and had a gross view) and asked for them to send it right up.  The front desk apologized, gave me a "better" room and said it would be right up.  The room was a little bigger and the view much better, except we now had no balcony.  I was just happy not to be looking at the dock and cranes anymore so I let it go.

An hour later, the champagne still wasn't there.  Just then, the front desk called just to see if it came.  When they called, the surprise was completely ruined - my guy was totally tipped off.  Not to mention, I was obviously stalling and stalling awkwardly for a ridiculously long time thinking the champagne was on its way.  10 minutes later, the champage finally came.  I can't believe they had the nerve to charge me for the mandatory gratuity since the whole surprise was completely ruined.  Thanks a lot guys.

I expected a TON more from a place that charges as much as the Edgewater.  Such a disappointment.  I will never stay here again.

ps- most of the rooms don't have a bathtub.  Just an FYI if you're thinking of taking a bath with your partner.

My first trip to Seattle, and the Edgewater Hotel - not bad at all.  The hotel is right on the water, and the view of the bay is spectacular.  The Beatles used to stay here back in the day, and I can understand why.  It's kind of a quirky place  a mix of rustic and shabby chic, but I like it.  Great lounge too!

By the way, Seattle is beautiful - if you have never been here, make the trip.

I love this place for happy hour.  They have really good views, classy atmosphere and I can sit and enjoy a glass of wine and feel very special sticking to my budget.  I have taken friends there after walking around the sculpture part and we enjoy it so much.  I have been there twice and plan to visit there again and again.

I just love Seattle so much,  I lived in California for a long time and never got to experience life as I do now in this lovely city with great friendly people and amazing places to see the sunset!

I live only a few blocks from the hotel so this review is for the bar/restaurant/lobby only. This actually seems to be a hotel with some real character. Many of the big hotels are virtually indistinguishable from one another; not so with The Edgewater. It is a chic, modern, cabin on the water--how many places can you say that about?

The patio overlooking the sound is absolutely beautiful. It abuts the water and has a great view of Alki, the islands, and the ferries arriving and leaving the harbor. Now if only they could take care of the chilling wind coming off the water, and screaming infants from inconsiderate diners, I'd give them five stars.

I ordered the arugula pear salad. It had nice flavors but the arugula had sat in the dressing so long that it was soggy.

Overall, I think this would be a perfect place to people watch; hotel bars always seem to have an eclectic mix, and this one is no exception.

Oh and lastly, I have to add, this is pretty close to the market. It is 1/2 mile away; most people can walk that in under 10 minutes.

How many hotels provide a stuffed animal in your bed? The rooms here are awesome. The view is beautiful and the fireplace is nice to have.

The lounge is nice and the restaurant is a great place for a meal with a fabulous view. Great Ambiance! The breakfast, here is also very charming.

I'd stay at the Edgewater again, as the location is convenient to downtown Seattle, yet it's has a view and isn't a chain hotel.

This is where I stayed during my first trip to Seattle!
I lOVE this place so much! The view downstairs is absolutely beautiful at night, as you look out at the far stretch of water and the setting sun. I went during the fall (my favorite season) and it was just amazing.
The view from my window was the city. I could see the needle! The fire place was a cute touch as well. I truly adored the lamps in the room and my bathroom was super mod and chic!
Please go and experience it's charm. The wooden inside is what really got  me because it reminded me of my grandparents house :)

Edgewater BAR - to be clear.

Pros - amazing views. Great seating for one on one "intimate" conversations.... ie: dating. Great music.

Cons - Argh, she got my drink order wrong... I give my Bloody Maria a 3 out of 5.

I would bring my parents there - but overall not my scene. If I was in more of a she-she mood... and wanted to put a dress and some pearls on I'd go back.

One of my big problems with Yelp is that it doesn't ever seem to have reviews written by "grown ups".  They all seem to be written by what my dad would refer to as punks.  Seriously, if you pay $85 bucks for a room at the Edgewater using priceline or some website like that, I don't think you can expect to get their nicest water view room.  Nor do I think you should complain if you don't.

This place is a luxury hotel.  I stayed there last weekend in a "Waterfront Premium Room".  I believe the "rack rate" on a standard king water view room in in the mid 200s per night.  You probably will not end up paying that rate, but if you did, it would not be a rip off.  The rooms are clean, spacious and well stocked.  I had an amazing panoramic view of the city, Mt. Rainer, West Seattle, and some other parts of  Seattle (I forgot to ask my boyfriend, a local, what they were called).  I woke up smiling every morning (quite a feat for a non-morning person such as myself).

The service was prompt, attentive and friendly.  I forgot my phone charger and they found me a new one to use/keep for free.  I needed a sewing kit, they found me one.  I abused their towel service, new ones arrived as if by magic.  I had no problems with "paper thin" walls or feeling as if I didn't belong.  I was a little iffy about the "pacific northwest chic" decor at first, but it ended up growing on me.  Apparently the things I thought were antlers in the lobby, are actually tree branches.  The bathrooms are spacious, and the hot water never ending.

Overall, one of the most pleasant hotel experiences I've ever had.  5 stars!

No doubt the views from this water front hotel are amazing especially from the restaurant and bar. But the rooms are a little lacking at any price. The old charm of the place wears off when you can hear the people in the room above you walking around. Also if you don't get a water view, it's just an old hotel with thin walls. The bathrooms have been remodeled but they're not particularly elegant or utilitarian, mine didn't have a tub just a shower.
This place has its niceties but I think they're trying to sell it like a luxury hotel when it's simply not.

This place is a hit or miss.  In my case, it was a miss.  Let me tell you why.

- City View is a lie.  Edgewater has 2 main types of rooms: City View or Waterfront.  City View is not really a view of the city.  It is a view of the parking lot.  In my case, I was on the first floor and could not even open the shades without seeing guests walking by with their luggage.
- Paper thin walls.  You can hear everyone closing doors, walking around in the room above you, coughing, talking in the hallway...you get the idea.
- Rooms have a musty smell.
- Heater does not work. It blows out COLD air.
- Shower head sprays water in the wrong direction (not towards me, but away from me)
- Bathroom floor is colddddddd.  Reason being, it's made out of stone.
- Located in a deserted area.  It's about a 10 minute walk from Pike Place.

-------------------------------------------

What I did like about Edgewater was:

-Fireplace in the room!  Adds heat and a nice ambiance.
-Nice bathroom!  Would be nicer with a tub too.
-Beautiful view of the water and Mt. Ranier in the distance from the lobby
-Restaurant Six | Seven has a nice look and feel to it.  Drinks are decently priced too.
-Bus 99 which is the Waterfront Line is right outside and takes you to the touristy districts in Seattle.  It's free too!

Conclusion: Would not stay here again unless I was staying in a Waterfront Room on their top floor.

When the Space Needle only offered our group of roughly 20 the use of the lower level banquet space the company called The Edgewater for use of their banquet facilities, and boy am I glad they did. We were offered a selection of a few different main courses, clam chowder as a soup and a dessert of a delicious honey, blueberry creme brulee.

As a non-seafood eater I decided that in 2009 I will try to be more adventurous, so I asked our server to just bring me a smaller portion. I tried it, it was delicious, if I could only have gotten over my mental block about the fact that there were clams in it. Yuck, still good. And I was surprised at how yummy it was. I had a chicken macaroni gratin for my main course, also delicious, and the creme brulee, how can I put this... I've only had a few things in my life that I feel were worth calling "the best thing ever," and this would fall into that catergory. Whoever their dessert chef is did a marvelous job, texture and tastes were spot on. LOVED it.

Our server was very pleasant, good natured and joked with us. Prompt with refilling our drinks and clearing dinnerware. Valets were very friendly and prompt as well. Service was all around fantastic.

I don't have any reason to stay here at the Edgewater because I live in the city, but I would definitely recommend the hotel to people coming from out of town just because of the service, and the fun, outdoorsy ambience the place has, and the views on a nice sunny day cannot be beat!

Ok so I have mixed feelings about this place.  The suites on the water are really nice.  The bathroom and assortment of ammenities are fantastic.  The service is really good and so is the location, its about a 10 minute walk from pikes place.
If your not going to shell out the extra $100 to upgrade to a suite your better off avoiding this place at al costs.
Decor is something that belongs in Colorado.  I felt like I was going skiing I swear.   I would wake up and forget that I was in Seattle.  Whatever the architect was thinking is simply beyond me.
I would not stay here again, OVERATED.

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend. We got a great package deal on Travelocity. We booked the City room with a Queen bed. Overall, our stay was OK. I think it definitely didn't live up to the hype however I do think that if I paid the extra $50/night for an upgrade to a Waterfront view, it might have skewed my current opinion. I think the hotel needs to be renovated soon....the outside of the building definitely needs some work and the hallways need some life. We stayed on the 4th floor and it felt quite dreary.

I'm not sure if I would stay here again - I think I would have to book the Waterfront view if that's the case.

Pros:
- the stone shower (AMAZING!!!)
- fireplace in the room
Cons:
- lack of ventilation in the bathroom
- TINY rooms (can only speak about the rooms with a City view)
- slow elevators (we were up on the 4th floor)
- Front Desk would sometimes never answer the phone

Thanks to the randomness of Priceline I've stayed at Edgewater twice in the past three months.  And although it wouldn't have been my first pick I have pretty happy with what I've found here.

First of all, the Edgewater is almost like two hotels - if you get a lower floor room on the 'city' side (also known as the 'parking lot and freight trains' side) you might feel like you're in a motel.  But it will be cheap (thanks, Priceline).  Your options here would be a) deal with it, b) spend all your time hanging out the lobby lounge, or c) pay $50 per night for an upgrade to the 'water side'.

I did the latter and I don't regret it.  So now I have a room with an unimpeded view of Elliott Bay, Mt. Rainier, etc.  There are occasional otters and seals swimming around below my balcony.  See?  Money well spent.

The room itself is very nicely appointed, with a country lodge look that stops just shy of going over the top to cutesy.  A gas fireplace and a deluxe shower are great touches for chilly wet Northwest mornings (no tub in this room).  Other pluses to the hotel include the aforementioned lobby lounge (although I really think they could dial it back on the lounge-y soundtrack) and a brand new state of the art fitness center.

Most of all I think the super-friendly front desk staff make the place work.  As an old place on a pier, even with all the four-star upgrades this place could slip into third rate if it weren't for the phenomenal staff.

Oh, and you can buy the bear-shaped ottomans in the gift shop if you're so inclined.

It's nice.  The hotel itself has alog cabin feel, with a lot of wood and stone, but it seemed like everyone, except for those cleaning the rooms, had some issues.  People weren't very friendly, at all, even the guests!  It was amazing and I hated it.  You were treated like everyone deserved to be there, except for you.  Like we weren't paying for the food, the room, or the service.

At the lounge, I did like the fact that during happy hour they offered most things at 5 dollars where they are normally around 10 to 15, so that rocked.  But again, the snotty atmosphere was a bit uncomfortable.

The rooms themselves are nice, I suppose, but I hated the bathroom.  Stone floor, stone walls.  It just made everything seem cold.  And to top it all off, there was no door on the shower.  So cold air could just seep in anywhere.  Maybe if I had come here in the summer, I would think differently, but I felt like I was in a communal shower or something.

2.5 stars overall and I'm not coming back.

We stayed with the whole family Fathers day on the way back from our Vacation home on Chinook Pass and had the coolest time! It has great water views and a newly remodeled restaurant with neat wine list and beef from Harris Ranch. This is a must when we come back this August. Pricing was good for upscale place.

Some friends invited me to join them for a "gaming" expo and business that took place in Seattle a while back and we stayed at the Edgewater Hotel (a/k/a the "E" in Seattle).  I was told and learned that this is the hotel that the Beatles stayed at in 1964 while touring America.  I'm not a huge Beatles fan but who wouldn't be somewhat excited to stay at a place that was visited by such famous guys...

The hotel is the only waterfront hotel in Seattle and is considered a luxury hotel.  Beautiful landscaping surrounds this famous hotel and gorgeous views of the Elliot Bay and the Olympic Mountains are breathtaking.    Awesome little bar/nightclub with a 2-man band (the name escapes me but I did buy one of their CDs - its in my car so I can't grab it to give you the name of the band).    They were pretty good and I believe a local group.  We got some apps but they were just okay - nothing special.

While we were there, we spent the day walking around the Seattle Pike Place Farmers Market which is an outdoor market - on the sidewalks and part of the streets - up and down blocks and blocks.  A huge variety of vendors offering handicrafts such as small natural rocks with engraved words & sayings (I bought my son one that says "I love you more" - which is "our" saying) and they had some beautiful local artwork and just so much to look at.  A great place to check out when you are in Seattle and I would definitely recommend staying at the "E".  The rooms were spotless, the staff was courteous and extremely helpful.  All good!

Alright, so I didn't stay here.. BUT.. I did wander around and here's my story if you'll indulge me for a second.

My friend and I meant to go to the restaurant in the Edgewater after massively craving seafood and checking out Yelp reviews.. but once we saw the prices and the limited food selection we decided to head elsewhere (to a place that's even more expensive but had more options.. sigh). We stumbled onto their "lobby" when we were trying to find a trashcan for our coffee or gum or something.

Whoa. What's up COZY!

If I lived here, I'd definitely go and hang out in their lobby every once in awhile. Sure it has that country club version of a hunter's cabin to it.. but there were blankets and pillows and a fire was going. Plus it's RIGHT on the water (I think it even extends over it). It almost feels like you're on a boat, the view is that cool. We sat for a little bit and saw a happy little sea otter (or seal?) maxin', chillaxin', relaxin' all cool in the water. Oh.. and they even had board games and a nice set of chess (which I don't play because I only do it up computer style when it honks at you and tells you to move someplace else)! It is VERY woodsy but I think it'd be super cozy when it gets colder. It was just very chill - a woman was knitting, a couple was gazing out onto the ocean, and then there were spazzes freaking over aminals (and that would be me).

PS - Hooray for nice clean "public" bathrooms (well you have to be semi sneaky.. but they are key operated or anything and they're relatively close to the door/restaurant. haha Good for pit stops when the waves and water along Alaskan Way really start to get to ya..

There's nothing wrong with it, but there's nothing quite right either.  They were very nice and upgraded us to a waterview balcony room, which was great!  Except the balcony was covered in bird poop and I had to pry a chunk out of my dog's mouth.  Gross.

Your dog can stay too!  The dog can't be left unattended in the room, crated or not, and that's reasonable.  They can't have barking dogs disturbing people, and if you aren't there, you don't know if your dog is barking.  All the staff were nice to Oola, opening doors for her and telling her she was cute.  She is a saucy vixen.

It is a non-smoking place, fine by us.  They have a smoking area outside, which I guess would suck if it was raining.

Parking is 30 bucks a night.  Add in a couple of valet tips and it sure adds up to a lot of money.

There are a lot of places to walk to, including Pike's Place, for food and entertainment.  Just down the block is the sculpture garden, which is great for strolling by yourself or with dog.

The rooms are very small, with a weird sort of rustic feel, but with cheap furniture.  The "fireplace" is a gas fake log thing that serves as heat for the room, unless the temp drops to 30 degrees, at which point central heat kicks in.   We had trouble keeping the room a comfortable temperature during our stay.  The bathrooms are modern, done in chrome, glass, marble, and red paint.  The shower has the "rain" showerheads, and lots of hot water.  It was great!

Bottom line is the hotel is overpriced and I wouldn't stay there again, not because of a bad experience, but it just didn't wow me for the cost.

It's decent for the price. My boyfriend and I booked a room overlooking the bay so sunsets/sunrises were incredibly romantic. Do they same if you can, otherwise, I don't think this hotel is worth the price.

We spent the day touring Seattle and dropped by a market on our way back to our hotel. We bought some booze and some food because the view outside our window at night was too amazing to give up. When we got back to our hotel, we dimmed the lights, turn on the gas fireplace, and sat in the comfy sofachairs for a very very long dinner.  The view is amazing.

CONS:  Parking is $30. The restaurant attached to the hotel is expensive and not very good. The stone floors in the bathroom made it too cold to walk on, especially during winter time. Also, I didn't think the location was that great since it was a bit of a walk to Pike's Place. Avoid winters here if you can or just plan to cab it -- there are always cabs outside the hotel.

3.5 stars if I could, but it's definitely not up there and I don't consider it a place I would stay at again.

The shiny coal-black eyes of the The Edgewater Bear Jim found on the bed in Room 107 seemed to have a curious depth to them.  The hotel staff left one in each room, Jim surmised, in the hopes that visitors would feel compelled to purchase one as a souvenir of their stay at the Edgewater.  The Edgewater Bear was well crafted, as was the red sweater it wore, emblazoned with the logo, "Edgewater".

The inky blackness of the Bear's eyes was somehow compelling and Jim couldn't quite place why he found himself looking deep into the eyes of The Edgewater Bear each time he returned to the room.  Something about the vacuous emptiness of those eyes seemed to grab hold of some mysterious force deep within.  And the knife.  Where had the knife come from?  Was the blood merely from a rare steak served in The Edgewater's restaurant?

OK, so the Edgewater Bear was not that creepy.  Mostly.  Eyes right out of a Stephen King short.  Anyway.

I found the accommodations here to be very nice-pulling off a rustic feel while being at the same time modern and convenient.  The location is marvelous, a short walk to the Space Needle and other Downtown attractions.  The staff was top-notch.

They also catered several meals for corporate meetings and I was impressed each time.  Kudos to the catering staff.

I consider this hotel a prime location for my visits to Seattle.  Leave the Edgewater Bear in the closet, face down.  Where's my knife?

The Hotel:  Awesome.
The Food: Subpar

I give this amazing hotel a 4 star rating due to the room service.  I mean the wait for our breakfast was like 50 mins and the crab cake eggs benedict had a layer of spinach that ruined the whole dish.  If I want spinach with my eggs, I would prefer them Florentine.

Our loss ended up a big win for the flock of seagulls (smirk) just floating outside of our windows.  Overlooking the water and just spectacular.  The crisp air as you opened up the sliding door was the perfect wake me up since the two fireplaces kept the room toasty.

Two flat panel tv's, a sitting area, dining table for two, stocked fridge, mini bar, snack basket.  They pretty much thought of everything.  The bathroom was probably the most impressive aspect of the room.  Stone floors that had a smooth yet rough looking stone floor covered the free standing cast iron bath tub that faced the giant king sized bed.  And a separate little bathroom and shower that had a rain shower head.

Oh yeah, the bed was really comfortable and came covered with goose down pillows.  The whole decor was very NW and to a native seemed a little kitsch but  when in Rome right?  We had a good time and really enjoyed a mini vacation in the city.  I was so happy I decided to go to the Edgewater instead of the W.  If you're visiting town or just want to relax for a weekend in comfort, give the Edgewater a hard look.

I love boutique hotels like The Edgewater. I scored a room on Priceline for $95/night. Awesome deal as far as I'm concerned. Stepping into the lobby, I felt like I was entering an old Pacific Northwest hunting lodge mixed with a modern lounge. The vibe extends into the Six Seven restaurant/lounge, and the rooms as well. I was given a city view room. Although I had reviews saying that these rooms were loud due to the train tracks across the street, I slept like a baby. The room itself was a touch small, but I'm a small person, so it didn't bother me. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom with its stone shower was one of the best I've seen in my frequent travels.

Not sure what the rack rate for rooms here is, but if you're bidding on Priceline for a 4-star hotel and end up with the Edgewater, consider yourself lucky. Great location too... I always enjoy staying in city neighborhoods rather than the downtown business districtks when I travel for work.

The Edgewater is my FAVORITE hotel in Seattle because the ambiance truly depicts that "Northwest Feel." It's like a big PNW lodge  but done tastefully with a touch of modern.(as someone else mentioned) I actually spent my wedding night and four additional nights here...it was magnificent!

The night after our wedding, many of our out of town guests came back to the hotel with us after a day at The Space Needle. We took over the hotel lobby and a waitress brought our drinks to us from the neighboring bar. Even serving drinks to almost fifty of us, she served them with a smile!

When everyone headed out (to my parents) for dinner, my new hubs, brother in law and a handful of close friends went via taxi to Palisade. (see review) And when the meal was done...a LIMO was waiting to take us back to the Edgewater!! Seriously?? If I had known this, I would have taken the limo (not the taxi) there is the FIRST place!

This is the ONLY hotel I will stay at when in Seattle...when you find the best, its easy to forget the rest! ;0)

Beyond the Beatles fishing out of the window and Led Zeppelin doing something else with a fish here, this is just a great hotel.

The only hotel that's on the water in Seattle, it has amazing views and incredibly comfortable beds. Just a handful of restaurants within walking distance, but with Six Seven (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) right downstairs, you won't need to go anywhere else for a drink or food.

The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.  It was very puffy, fluffy and warm with the fireplace on.  Evertime I think about the Edgewater, I think about their bed.  Their restaurant food was ok.  I think there are better restaurants in the downtown Seattle area.  But if you want something comfortable, homey and warm on the water, you should stay here.

The first thing that pops into my mind whenever I think about the Edgewater is that an obscure British pop band stayed here when they came to the States in the early 60's. Their name escapes me, but it doesn't matter because they were not that big of a band anyway and hardly anyone talks about them now.

Came here for a cousin's wedding last night and was very impressed. They got married on the 4th floor, in a banquet room with a wonderful view of the water. There was also a paraglider in the water, and I thought it would be funny if he was in the background when they say "I do." I am usually not impressed with hotel food, but it was pretty good here.

My only real problem is if you don't want to park valet you have to park in a garage across the street.  Not a huge problem, but it closes at 11 and you would have to pay $35 to get your car out.

Everyone's already said it... great location, comfortable, clean rooms that are unique to this hotel (you will not wake up and wonder if you're in Vegas, Kansas City, Atlanta, or Cleveland, you will immediately recognize that you are in a place that is different. :-)

The gas fire was a nice touch, the chairs and desk were comfortable, the city view was excellent (didn't go for the spendier water-view room, but we will someday), and the bathroom was a delight, with natural stone, a beautiful shower, a decorative and still functional sink, and sumptuous towels and robes... not to mention fantastic beauty supplies (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, skin lotion, soap). Those toiletries don't cost them much extra but they really amplify the pleasure for me.

They lost a star, remarkably, for the bed. A little on the hard side, a little on the bouncy side, I was not thrilled and thought the bed I have at home is better. They sell the hotel beds for $1400 through their little store, and honestly, I much prefer my own $1200 pillow top. Oh well. It certainly wasn't the WORST hotel bed I've ever encountered, but I expected better. For perfect beds in our area, go to the Woodmark in Kirkland.... that WAS the best bed I've ever slept on! http://www.yelp.com/bi...

We stayed at the Edgewater Hotel in February '09 and it's our new favorite place. They upgraded us to a mainfloor waterfront room. All the rooms have a cozy fireplace and gorgeous bathrooms. The service was good too.

Have you ever gone to a restaurant with so much anticipation that it is almost a let down?  You know what I mean, you build it up in your mind and expect so much that it can not possibly be delivered, and often that is the case. That is how I feel about the 6/7 Restaurant inside the Edgewater Hotel, but in reverse.  The 6/7 promises a lot in the form of anitcipation, but it never delivers. Now, understand, there are certain times when I use a restaurant just to have a meal and carry on a converstation, because that is the purpose for my being there. But that is rare, and I think that is rare for most people as well.  I think that, for the majority who go out to eat, walking into a restaurant and just sitting down is a fairly depressing experience.

A place like the 6/7 should have a sense of anticipation, & it should grow, rather than stop.  Arriving should not be the end of it; it should be a continuation of the anticipation. A restaurant such as the 6/7 should not be treated as the background setting for a view, it should be a foreground. Sure the view is one of the more interesting and magnetic views found in Seattle, but we do not eat the view, & the view can only do so much to make up for what's lacking in 6/7..

There are many issues within the 6/7 that prevent it from meeting that expectation for me; it fails to live up to this "pleasure principle".  The service is fine & friendly, with fits & starts, interupted & paused - drinks are over priced. The food - poorly presented, lacks flavor, with exception of some of the fish items.

The first of many flaws is the loud night club music which is not condusive to the environment as a whole.  Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the music played, but only in a nightclub setting.  That is part of the problem with 6/7, it is TRYING to be a "hip" restaurant.  In this case the trap is what is experienced by most "hip" restaurant that usually have a very short life - it is this: they become overstated, and "shout" too much. The last thing I want to do is battle the environment that should be geared to serve pleasure. The experience is schizophrenic.  It doesn't know if it is a restaurant or a club.  I have been to many places that do both well, and this just does both poorly.

Too many restaurants are too darkly lit - this is a perfect example.  Today, food is extraordinarily dynamic, a lot more colorful, and the food styling on the plate has become as important as the taste of the food.  The foods presentation is as much a part of the space and its aesthetics as any other architectural treatment, and consequently, there is a need to light the table in order to see the color and presentation of the plate. Here is where 6/7 exposes itself.  Everything was cleverly presented, as a sort of distraction, but not much more.

I paid $85 BEFORE tip & taxes, and a second round of drinks at the bar, and I never really feel like I have gotten much.  Portions were small, sauces are insipid and salty, and presentation was a wreck, and all was brown coloured.

The Wood Roasted Shrimp with Roast Garlic, Olive Oil &  Air-Dried Tomatoes.  I could not taste any of the garlic (?), and the olive oil was of such poor quality it influenced the shrimp & seemed to zapp it of any freshness.

The Tomato Tart "Tatin" with Goat Cheese, Balsamic & Basil Oil; it was absolutely disgusting.  I can not even begin to express how bad. It is a variation on the classic French Tatin, but this variation was just bland, brown (surprise), and had not a trace of Goat Cheese &  was dripping with so much balsamic & oil, I thought "Soul Glow" from the Eddie Murphy movie Coming to America.  I should have called the EPA for the oil spill.

The 6/7 Caesar with Eggless Vinaigrette  was drowned in dressing.  The croutons tasted like day old focaccia, and hard.  My date had the Spicy Arugula with D'anjou Pears, Oregon Blue Cheese and Walnuts, it was servicable.  I think the Oregon Blue Cheese was not authentic because it was so salty for such a backyard favorite.  Maytag Blue Cheese is my personal favorite, and I really like blue cheese, and I can spot a lesser grade as "being passed for something it ain't".  Maintaining authentic ingredients is important for restaurants, especially when it's announced on the menu !

Herbed Sea Bass with Fennel & Leek Stew, Carrot Nage.  A nage is a citrus buere blanc, without wine. No presence, not citrusy at all, and the Fennel & Leek Stew had so much sweet corn in the mix that it was more like eating a sweet corn stew.   The bass was great, not dry.

Wood Roasted Chicken with Goat Cheese Dumplings, Ivory Forest Mushroom Saut.  What dumplings?  Where was it, hidden under the shrooms? A-hem, not much shrooms to look under!  For $24 you would expect at least Airline Chicken or Smart Chicken.  Now, I don't know if that's  going to help -MAYBE IN MY MIND - as the presentation & prep was once again brown & bland. If one could taste brown, this is it.

Not the best. Very old, wore down look to the rooms. Long waits for elevators and pricy parking. I book 10 rooms a week for my job in Seattle and would put people up in a motel 8 before this place. grand Hyatt would be a better choice, especially for the money.

This will be the first time that I will honestly say I'm GLAD the day that I went to en event at the Edgewater Hotel, the weather was dark and grey and gloomy.

It was PERFECT WEATHER for attending a conference in the banquet room to the side of the restaurant/lounge of the Edgewater hotel.

With its 12 fireplaces, it's rustic decor, it's cozy atmosphere, the only thing that sucked is that all I wanted was a warm blanket to snuggle in, rather than listen to yet another presentation on what the company will do.  Although, even looking outside at the ships, at the rain falling ever so gently on the water, on the veranda, was just so gorgeous and relaxing, made everything better.

The service was completely top notch, they assisted us with various needs we had.

I'm dying to go back for a cocktail.  It would be a perfect place for one.

This isn't the Taj Mahal, but it's a location which can't be beat in Seattle. I've stayed here often in a variety of rooms: The Beatles Suite (brilliant!), Penthouse Suite (fabulous loft-style with views to die for), and all waterfront rooms. There was also a conference room type suite which was rather smart.

I've stayed in other nice hotels considered more classy, but it's hard to debate waterfront and dramatic views of the Olympics with a straight face. The costs are reasonable, and frequent visitors are offered special treatment, rates and small perks wherever possible.

The service has always been attentive, the menu is diverse with tasty food and fair prices, and the brunch is a delight. There's a quaint gift shop with hooded sweatshirts if relaxing on your suite balcony gets chilly, and a warm fireplace for both romantic ambience and that Calgon bath feel. One can also get out and walk along a vibrant waterside area of shops and restaurants...even take a boat to British Columbia.

Great!  I love the Edgewater...  It truely does fit your room if you stay at the oceanside view.  You feel as if you're right on the edge of the water...and you actually are!!!  The water goes right under your window.  I was at the floor right above the water, and I felt like I was on a stationary cruise ship at the level right above the water.  If you're not at the oceanside, well it's still great too because the lobby has the great edgwater view, plus the rooms are so well appointed.  It has a very glamorous yet rustic and cabin-like northwestern feel.  Lots of wood, lots of quilts, lots of antlers, and lots of cute teddy bears (either one on your bed or as an ottoman).  They really pay attention to details here at this hotel...In my room, I felt like I was at a small botique bed-and-breakfast.

But let's not leave out the rustically designed lobby and sitting area with a giant fireplace, cathedral ceilings with wood awnings, and spectacular view, huge couches and tables for playing games, music....   It's worth the money you pay for here.  I wouldn't call it a 4 star wow wow luxury hotel with all the trimmings, but the uniqueness of it especially amongst the ambience of rustic seattle is quite worth it.  They really do play out the Beattles theme and are proud of their piece of history with the famous band having stayed there in 1964.  The close location to downtown seattle is an added bonus, though if you're after being *right in the heart of downtown* I'd skip this place as it's a 15 minute walk through some akward and hilly sidewalks..but doable.

p.s.  They do sell the really nice hand-crafted bear ottoman in the hotel's gift shop if you want to take a piece of the northwest home with you.

The Edgewater was our home away from home for Christmas.  Acting on a whim, I purchased a vacation package through http://Expedia.com and got a great rate for a premium waterfront room in this hotel along Elliot Bay.  As you might gather from the hotel's website and from other reviews here on http://yelp.com, this is the "only hotel that is on the waterfront".

The waterfront aspect isn't the ONLY lure to the hotel.  The service in the hotel is very friendly and accomodating.  The bf and I arrived 3 hours in advance of our check-in time and the gentleman at the front desk was EXTREMELY courteous and pre-registered us, held our luggage and called a taxi to traipse us over to the restaurant where we had lunch reservations.  In addition, it is close to all of the tourist sites and scenes.

There is a 24 hour work out room (which I did not get to  visit while there) and a waterfront lounge next to the lobby where you can grab a drink and admire the view (Bainbridge Island, West Seattle and the OLYMPIC mountains).  The hotel is decorated in a Northwestern fishing lodge theme and is quite rustic.  If you are looking for a more modern or boutique hotel, this is most likely not going to be a hotel for your liking (try the Fairmont Olympic, Grand Hyatt, The Alexis, The W...)   Yet, it is a AAA 4 diamond hotel.

The guest rooms are equipped with the following: gas fireplaces, knotty pine furniture,  Eddie Bauer linens, fuzzy bear ottomans, flat screen televisions and GORGEOUS bathrooms (including grey slate flooring, spa shower stalls, clawfoot tubs and vessel sinks).

Some hotel amenities that I really loved: 24 hour concierge service, board game and bicycle rentals and the terry cloth bathrobes.  Oh and having a premium waterfront room was amazing.  We were able to open our window and see the Bay (straight down) and see the seagulls bobbing up and down underneath our room every morning.

I only had one complaint:  guests have to pay for internet.  I guess that is a minor complaint for an overall good experience.
