What an amazing treat.
In a very small town in Wisconsin is this incredible restaurant that would do spectacular in any large city.
The food is divine. Everything is fresh, many of it direct from the farms around the area.
My table mates had a pizza which was incredible.
I was pleasantly shocked to find the interesting and amazingly delicious options here.
It's not your typical Wisconsin restaurant with deep fried everything, but it does have excellent Wisconsin farm foods made well.
Service and interior are warm and inviting and heaven.
If I am ever in the area again I will go.
Go Viroqua! Who knew? -

I walk into the Driftless Cafe and I feel like I'm in a relaxed, trendy cafe in the middle of New York City or the Hudson Valley region. It's definitely one of the more sophisticated places in the area. I had the tapenade plate with roasted red pepper dip, olive spread and hummus and crostini. I really liked the hummus because it was full of garlic. I chose the Greek thin-crust pizza with feta, olives, red peppers, garlic and basil. The pizza was piping hot when it came to the table. The melted cheese combined with the melted cubes of feta, olives and roasted red peppers just made the pizza so good. Overall, the food was really well-executed.

I knew this place existed, I just knew it had to. SW Wisconsin is so full of tree-squeezin natural food growers and eaters, I knew a town like Viroqua had to have a great little cafe to cater to types that can appreciate good cafe culture and food. I've been to a couple other options on the main drag, but always left wanting more.
I finally ducked down Court St, saw the Driftless Cafe and found what I've been looking for. A cafe that serves great coffee and a variety of wonderful cafe fare, much prepared with local and/or natural ingredients. In addition, fresh baked bread is available to go. The atmosphere inside is great too- wood tables and chairs, regular live music and a couple trees even "grow" up through the floor and into the ceiling!
A piece of homemade pie, a chunk of the newspaper and a cup of good coffee here is a great way to pass some time. -

On my way back to MN I decided to take the scenic route. The drive to Viroqua was beautiful. The town itself is cute and the main street has some unique shops. The driftless cafe had the vibe of an arty organic restaurant. I was so relieved that they had a slice of veggie pizza ready to go because I was not about to order a whole one. The crust was wonderful- crunchy and doughy at the same time. Definitely a great place to stop for lunch.

My husband & I went here on our honeymoon & absolutely loved this place! We went on a Wednesday night & enjoyed the great bluegrass music. The pizza was some of the best we've ever had and the salad was quite delicious as well. Excellent service, excellent atmosphere. If we lived in Viroqua we'd come here all the time.
