4 reviews for The Dining Room
Hands down, it is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Many of the most influential chefs in Atlanta (Seeger, Antunes) has passed through the Ritz.
The service is near perfect but lacking the Southern hospitality warmth. The wine list is extensive and well thought out. The food is melt in your mouth sublime.
I recommend the half-booth that faces the kitchen for a cozy dining experience while watching all the action in the kitchen.
A while back, we went to The Dining Room to celebrate a special event. I was skeptical as I had heard very mixed reviews and thought the name "The Dining Room" was a bit haughty. However, I was extremely pleased with the entire experience. The service was great, though a bit cold and mechanical.
I almost felt that they had a camera watching us, because the second someone would get up to leave the table momentarily, someone would come and leave a fresh folded napkin to await the patron's return. In the traditional sense, the service was perfect. However, at this caliber, I much prefer Bacchanalia's professional, yet warm staff. While The Dining Room service is very refined, it lacks passion, which is something that I personally prefer in my dining experience.
The clientle was also very stiff and so it isn't the most relaxing environment. Somehow, it was a constant reminder to sit up straight and follow all the rules of finishing school to the T. My mother would be proud! Despite the stuffy environment, I enjoyed the food.
We couldn't decide what to get and I ended up getting the tasting menu. I was not disappointed. The menu is ever changing so I won't comment on specific menu items, but the portions, flavors and textures were right on point. The server was also able to recommend a great wine, which escapes me at this moment, but their selection is great, as can be expected.
There was a nice progression of dishes. I can't say that I enjoyed all the desserts, but the pre-dessert of a hot muffin-like cake with ice cream was excellent. I enjoyed the combination of hot and cold and the dish was not too sweet. The muffin-like item (don't forget what it was) was also perfectly crispy on the edges and had a nice balance of tartness with berries. The actual desserts were just okay. After the perfect meal, I had high expectations for dessert, but I'm a dessert snob.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. For fine dining, it is one of my favorites. It is also probably one of the best things about the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, because the hotel, itself, does not live up to the Ritz-Carlton name.
This restaurant and bar are located inside the Ritz Carlton. Came here on Thanksgiving night and it was packed!
Had some Vueve yellow label ($130.00) with complimentary snacks. The Dining Room was not as elegant as I had anticipated but was nice and cozy with its brown leather chairs and large booths.
I didn't try the food but the holiday buffet looked spectacular. This hotel is well managed- they were packed but properly staffed so service was really good!
A little too refined for most folks. Transcendent culinary experience as opposed to a more broad appeal with, say, Bacchanalia.
