Review from Anna-Lisa v.
San Francisco, CA
I recently enjoyed a 5 night stay at the Devonshire Adobe Inn B&B with my family. We flew in from California and Connecticut to attend my cousin's wedding. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable, and they have the modern conveniences of wireless internet, flat screen TV, mini-fridge, and a coffee maker with all the fixins. The building is designed like an old Victorian with plenty of common space to read, lounge, take in afternoon tea service, or sit outside in the lovely courtyard. Everything is clean and tidy.
What made it truly comfortable and family-like was Nick, the host with the most!! And his friendly little dog, Miss Muffy. It was like staying with family in a big, beautiful house with our friend Nick. Very easy-going and friendly, and as an Albuquerque native, he proved very helpful with directions and recommendations. Breakfast was served in a sweet dining room around 8:30. Nick was good at accommodating different diets (I'm vegetarian) and the food was fresh and delicious and very filling! Fresh fruit, homemade biscuits that were so fluffy and light, non-greasy hashbrowns, yummy granola, tasty eggs, delicious yogurt, juice, coffee, tea varieties, etc. All we had to do was leave him a note about breakfast, or anything else, the evening before.
We enjoyed conversing with Nick and playing with Miss Muffy; they were also keen to our needs and would give us our 'space' if we were not in a 'visiting mood' . We felt so comfortable, we had keys and often came in late after visiting with family but no one seemed to disturb anyone else. In fact, Nick said he didn't even hear us come in!!
I would highly recommend this B&B for those of you who would like something different from the impersonal traditional hotel/motel type stays. It's a combination of private space and personable, common space, similar to a happy family setting in a big house. In fact, my brother and I roomed together and got along quite well, as did we all!! Hope to see ya there!!
