We came here for our friends wedding weekend and the staff was so great and accommodating. The rooms were nice and the property was well kept. They allow dogs and only ask for a donation to the local SPCA.
Most of the rooms were suites, but we had a single room and it had plenty of space for us and our 80 lb lap dog.
The location is central to a lot of activities and was actually a great walk down to the lake.
It's a little spendier than other places in the area, but you get what you paid for. -

This is a beautiful place. It was decadent, spotless, and truly relaxing. We stayed in a king suite. The bed was comfortable with separate feather duvets for each of us. The jacuzzi tub was nice, showers great too. Having two bathrooms was awesome. We never heard anyone else the whole time we were there.
We had an awful time finding a decent place to eat in the town. Looking back, I would have ordered pizza in and enjoyed the suite longer.
Great place, I can't imagine anything better especially if you're planning a nice weekend and don't want a place with a lot of children running around. -

This was our first visit to Deerfield Lodge, but I'm sure we'll be back in the future.
This place is DOG-Friendly! Our dog was so excited to go explore the surrounding landscaping. There's a big lawn where dogs can romp, and lots of trees for marking. Our room was spacious, with plenty of room for our dog's bed and for him to not be underfoot. Street is well-lit for evening strolls.
Location is great--right on Ski Run, and minutes from everything. Breakfast is simple and convenient--they have great blueberry bread, plus there's coffee, pastries, yogurt, fruit, cereals, etc. Bed was comfy and had plenty of blankets. There's a mini fridge, microwave and coffeemaker too.
This would be a five-star review, except that our room was a bit noisy--we could hear footsteps in the room above us. Most of that is due to the way the lodge is built, since our room was next to the stairwell. We did talk with the staff about it upon checkout, and they did tell us that our room has the most issues with noise--they also said that if they aren't full, then they usually move guests from that room to another room.
The owners and staff love having dogs as guests, and went out of their way to meet and play with the different canine guests.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and found the Deerfield Lodge to be very comfortable. We'll be back! -

This has to be the nicest, most luxurious, spacious, well equipped lodge in Tahoe - not to mention that we were able to take our puppy Pebbles and she had a blast right along with us. Wife loved the in-room jacuzzi and the beds were as soft as...well, as soft as geese. Comforters and bedsheets and pillows were all goose down - slept like a baby didn't really want to get up and make the 4 hour twisty drive back to San Jose. Walking distance to a couple of nice restaurants and shopping area, casinos aren't far away either, or skiiing. A little expensive but worth it for a weekend of pampering if you want to stay in a really nice lodge close to everything in Tahoe, that is dog friendly. Highly recommend.

FIVE STAR LODGING AND STELLAR SERVICE IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE!!
I'm a big fan of small and intimate boutique lodgings, especially in the mountains of the world and this place doesn't disappoint.
This is definitely my go to place when riding Bessie in this neck of the sierras.
My only recommendations would be:
1- Ensure your fireplaces operate during summer months (who doesn't enjoy a fire anytime of year?).
2- Create a more varied selection of delectable goodies for breakfast (scones, more muffins, croissants, etc) and stronger coffee.
3- Although we heard the heavy walking upstairs neighbor get her freak on at 2am (actually, I think everybody in South Lake Tahoe heard her), there's nothing you can really do now about soundproofing.
Besides, who hasn't heard somebody get their hotel freak on in the middle of the night, right? -

My partner and I have stayed here on two occasions and LoVe this place! There are so many perks: Great location, spacious rooms, very clean, hot tub in room, fireplace and hospitality. Although, the best feature is the owners. Robin sat with us for an hour, by the fireplace, and gave us insider suggestions for shopping, meals and ski rentals. Her husband chatted with my partner about Chicago, their home town. Turns out the lodge is named after a town near Chicago, how serendipitous.
Also an excellent italian restaurant right across the street:)
Kaylen and I can't wait to make a trip back up there, hopefully soon.
We love you Robin! -

Great place for a romantic get away. Actually we're local and some friends got us a suite here for our wedding night. It was perfect! The room was very clean elegant. Our suite had a nice living room with plenty of seating and a guest bathroom. The bedroom was large and had a very confy bed. the bathroom was nice and modern.
The grounds are beautiful! This is definately one of the more elegand modern hotels in Lake Tahoe. I would recemond this place to anyone looking for a romantic get away, and even as a local I would stay there again for a night out. -

My husband and I have stayed here twice now and love it here! The rooms are beautiful and cozy, a combination of cabin feel and modern elegance. The beds are so comfortable and each room is heated by a fireplace. The best part is that dogs of all sizes are allowed to stay here, so we are always able to bring our little furbaby. They do charge a one time pet fee, but all pet fees are donated to the Lake Tahoe Pet Society. The first time we stayed here we got a standard king room on the second floor. The complimentary breakfast was a great spread that included a variety of cereals, yogurt, breads, fruit, and oatmeal. The second time we stayed here they did not have any more standard rooms so we ended up with a first floor suite, which included a jacuzzi spa, living room area, and two bathrooms. We must have come when most people had already left (Sat-Mon) because the breakfast this time was much more limited.
As wonderful as Deerfield Lodge is, there is some room for improvement:
1) Replace the old school TVs with flat panel LCD TVs.
2) Wi-Fi access in every room. Right now only a few rooms closest to the lobby have access, and a spotty one at that.
Looking forward to coming back again! -

The Deerfield Lodge is simply Amazing! This past summer I got married up in Tahoe and we were lucky enough to stay in this fine lodge. My wife searched everywhere for a nice, cozy, romantic place to stay during our wedding activities, and this place fit the bill perfectly.
We went up to see the Lodge months in advance, and were warmly greeted by Heather, shown the beautiful grounds, and some rooms. Once seeing those things, we were hooked! We booked about 6 rooms for the family, everyone was pleased. They offer a great breakfast, nice snacks in the afternoon, and my favorite, they have a rocking yellow Labrador named Bailer who I got to play with. My Labs were in a pet hotel, but the kind owners said to bring them next time we come up, they even offered to walk them, THANK YOU is right!
We went to Kauai for our honeymoon, and our room at the Marriott wasn't anywhere near as nice as these places, but cost much more.
This place has is all, amazing rooms, kind people working there, great treats, even high end cruelty free shower products, this place loves animals, so we'll be back! Also, the bathrooms are very cool, very nice bathtubs.. One thing, like someone said, it'd be great to keep the fireplaces turned on so one can enjoy a fire on that romantic night. -

If you're going up to the Tahoe area, look no further, this place is amazing. The front of the hotel makes you a little nervous about the overall quality of the place, but do not be fooled! Inside you'll find lush surroundings.
Our suite boasted a thermostatically controlled gas fireplace in both the living room and bedroom. Soft, squishy carpet that I'd put in my own house, a jacuzzi tub big enough for 3 or 4 people, slate floors, and so on. Each room backed a beautiful green courtyard and had their own little cafe table/chairs to enjoy it all with.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely, freshly baked cinnamon bread and oatmeal with Apricots were my favorite, though it was all very yummy.
The staff was very friendly and did everything they could to make us feel at home and welcome. -

I was recommended by my cousin to try this place out, as we've been frequently disappointed in the out of date cabins, casino hotels and cheap motels we've both experienced over the years....
This lodge is just the right amount of casual yet luxurious, friendly and cozy without being a B&B (where you feel like you are in someone's home) and close enough but not too close to the highway 50 action! It's pet friendly, and you don't have to sign a long list of rules signing away your life as you check in...that always makes me feel so "untrusted"...haha, as my dog doesn't have accidents and is very well crate trained. (I think she is better behaved than some of my friends kids!!). I only like to travel with my dog , because she is extremely adaptable and well behaved...I would hope others are the same, but regardless I often feel so "penalized" by hotels. Most places won't let you leave your pet in the room and these are often places that I don't really want to stay at anyhow, so this is a great find if you are looking for a trip with your pooch.
Anyhow, if you too are tired of the 1970's decor in those cabins and prefer more luxury than the Fantasy Inn...this is the place for you. We will definitely be back! -

My fiancé and I stayed here for New Years Eve weekend and absolutely LOVED it! I do not have enough good things to say about this place. The owners are so sweet and personable.
The rooms are gorgeous and the jaccuzzi tubs are amazing!! There is nothing better than soaking in that tub after a full day of skiing. Also, our chocolate lab was welcomed there and had fun playing in the snow with their lab ;)
Overall, we had a fantastic trip and will definitely recommend this lodge to family, friends, and fellow yelpers. Can't wait to return to Deerfield Lodge next NYE! Thanks, Robyn, for making sure our weekend was great! -

I stayed at this hotel back in April of last year and LOVED IT!!! So did our dog Zeus.
The room we booked was huge, but it was very cozy. It's location was fantastic, and the breakfasts were quite yummy! I especially loved that the owners and staff were so attentive to our needs and to Zeus'.
It's definitely turned into the ONLY place we'll stay when we're in South Lake Tahoe! -

Do yourself a favor and BOOK Deerfield Lodge! They are incredible. Friendly staff that remembers you when you return. Heather is awesome! They are also pet friendly!!! Oh and don't get me started on their rooms! The bed is so comfy and plush, I sleep like a log every time we are there. The rooms are beautiful to boot! We've stayed in a regular king bed room and one of their suites too. The suite was crazy! Giant jacuzzi tub and separate shower. It was like a mini apartment. Fireplace, patio, fridge, loves it! Can't wait to go back:)

If ONLY I could give the Deerfield Lodge more stars. WOW!!! You must stay here! It's right on Ski Run Blvd. at the bottom of Heavenly and a 5 minute drive to the casinos. The staff is absolutely friendly. No, friendly is not the word...they make you feel COMPLETELY at home. The staff is so hospitable. When we arrived, there weren't many people since it was the middle of the week, they upgraded our regular room to a suite. Suite indeed. Brown leather living room set, kitchenette, 2 FULL bathrooms, a desk, free WIFI, neutral, warm colored walls, beautiful (not hotel casino cheesy) décor and most importantly DOG FRIENDLY! I will definitely be back. I'll probably end up booking my wedding here:)

After committing to meet friends in Tahoe for Thanksgiving weekend without a place to stay with our two big dogs, we were frantically searching for lodging that was dog-friendly (and yes, many hotels say they take dogs but they must be under 35 lbs?!). A friend recommended The Deerfield Lodge and from our first communication through check-out, the experience was fantastic (thank you Heather & Robin!). Here is the quick run down -
Room: We were upgraded to a King Suite, which was giant! Leather sofa and chair plus fireplace and full bathroom in the living room and king size bed and fireplace in the bedroom. And the bathroom was huge! XL spa tub and separate shower. Seriously, you could get lost in this room. Plus, there is a sliding glass door that opens to a courtyard where kids built snow people and the dogs could romp.
Food: Breakfast was plentiful - oatmeal, muesli, cereal, bagels, blueberry bread, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, yogurt, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Happy Hour with wine and snacks was a nice way for the guests to chit chat.
Staff/Owner: Heather and Robin really were over the top in making us feel welcome and cared for with restaurant recommendations, dog walks, and even travel tips for our next trip to Arizona!
Don't be put off by the external appearance of The Deerfield and assume that this is a bad Tahoe motel where the doors open to the parking lot. This is a quality run inn with nicely appointed rooms and an amazing staff and innkeeper! -

What a fabulous place to stay near Heavenly! The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms are really big and tastefully decorated. We arrived after hours and the key was waiting for us, as well as a surprise room upgrade, and a delicious basket of goodies. We will definitely stay here again, and I recommend the Deerfield wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a nice place to stay near Heavenly.

The Deerfield Lodge is by far the most comfy, warm, friendly place that we have ever stayed at! Heather, Jocelyn & Robyn went out of their way to make us feel special. They even took our puppy out for a walk when we went out during the day. I loved the decor of the rooms as well as the "Bed and Breakfast" type atmosphere. You even get a goody bag filled with sample products in your room ( what girl does not love samples!) The bathroom is filled with Bulgari products- shower gel, lip balm and even a tea bag for the jacuzzi bath! You will not be disappointed by this lodge!
