What is Yelper John K. smoking, because the staff at The Daily Boost are really nice! Like, overly-nice, but not in a fake way. I was impressed and will go back.
I went there during one of the events in the square, and didn't even know it existed until then. Good coffee and desserts (I bought a brownie and a cookie to share with my BF) and the girls were very nice.
I definitely want to try to stop there sometime to get other stuff--like smoothies or something else. What a cute little stand!Comment from Ruhina K. of The Daily Boost 7/28/2010

On impulse at one of the Friday night concerts, we decided to order Bubble tea. It took them a while to make it. (like 5 minutes) We were their only customers at the time. There were at least three of them in the tiny, cramped space.
The girls seemed very nice, but again it seemed to take them an overly long time to make 2 simple drinks. I had the Chai Tea and my son had the Cinnamon coffee. Mine had too much Chai flavor to it and was better after the ice melted. After giving it to us they asked my son if it was sweet enough. He said yes. So, I now JONES for bubble tea but they are closed evenings. Cute location. -

Since our office relocated to Redwood City, I've been looking for a independent coffee place within walking distance that serves good, reliable coffee. I was excited to try The Daily Boost after seeing the rave reviews and finding out that they are fair trade and organic.
After lunch, my coworkers and I stopped by the little kiosk and ordered iced lattes. While our drinks were being made, I decided to talk to the barista to find out more about their beans and where they source them from, thinking he would be proud to tell me about it since they boast about the whole fair trade thing. Imagine my surprise when he politely told me that that was information he could not divulge.
"I can only tell you they're from Africa."
I'm no expert, but I don't think very much from Africa is fair trade...not the most helpful.
I wouldn't have thought much more of the matter if the coffee was as good as everyone says it is, but I'm sorry to report that our lattes tasted a bit like the bottom of a coffee pot.
I might stop by again to try their tea, but for coffee, guess I'll have to keep looking. -

Fro-yo girl here. I returned to Daily Boost to find out more about their frozen yogurt. She said that I could add my choice of fresh fruits to it along with granola. I wasn't sure of what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the parfait style concoction that I received ($3.75). I chose to have fresh berries and received a generous amount of fresh cranberries (I've never had these with frozen yogurt), strawberries, tiny blueberries and raspberries.
They put some berries on the bottom, then added a couple of scoops of frozen yogurt, and then topped it off with more fresh fruit. So the fro-yo is not soft serve style even though I was told they were getting a yogurt machine (maybe it still hasn't arrived). Though she told me it was "plain", I know it was vanilla. It was similar to vanilla ice cream only not as creamy. The vanilla flavor was mild and pleasant. You can get the same deal (granola + fruit) with plain, non-frozen yogurt. They also had kiwi, pineapple, papaya, and watermelon, but no mochi balls, chips and other non-fruit toppings.
I'm not as excited about the non-soft serve fro-yo but it was a nice, filling treat. I also tried their turkey sandwich with Swiss cheese on nine grain bread (you choose the meat, cheese and bread), $4.75. It's a small sandwich - the bread choices include English muffin, croissant, etc. so that gives you a sense of the size. It's nice but not special - it comes with lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayo. The bread was toasted and seemed healthy (with seeds). The bread was actually too hard.
I like the compostable packaging but it's not clear where to throw it away to make sure that it actually is composted.
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.Listed in: Fro-Yo Girl Speaks, Confessions of a Coffeeaholic, Free Food & Wi-Fi Peninsula, Under $6 lunches in RWC

An organic cafe next to the court house, woohoo! On a sunny day, it's a joyful experience to sunbathe in the outdoor table and chair, and start your day with the delicious breakfast.
The cafe is a tan square box, and dinning area is almost all outdoor. Their menu is posted on the window. I had a great breakfast sandwich with English muffin, ham & cheese omelet with herbs (dill?) and a super latte. The girl who served me was very pleasant.
It's far more personal and unique than the nearby Pete's or Starbucks! This is one more reason why I like Redwood city's downtown. -

They're now open. Rohina (sp?) was the "barista" for the drinks and the ladies were quite pleasant and the drink was good. ;-) Since almost noone knows about them yet, it's easy to walk up to either window and get a smoothie or a coffee (etc) and a snack. Tasted good and the prices are reasonable. Le Boulanger is across the street too!
It's cool (funny?) that they can fit so much in such a small place.
I do not know if their WiFi works or not. I think some of their hours might be longer on Friday and Saturday than Lolia posted.1 Previous Review: Show all »

The Daily Boost is open 6am on weekdays and 7am on weekends, and they close at 7pm everyday but Friday and Saturday when they close at 10pm.
Their smoothies are delicious and fresh. I had a tasty watermelon cooler and it was wonderful. As Scott L. pointed out, there's no wait -- just walk right up and get your drink fresh.
The seating is fantastic -- right in front of the courthouse. Very relaxing. -

Stale old coffee, flavorless ice tea and rude employees.

OK, OK, I'm biased in favor of this shop since my business partner and I go there every day of the business week. Yep, every day, Monday thru Friday without fail.
How can I resist a shop that specialty imports African beans that are free trade, all organic and simply miles ahead of their competition in quality of flavor? I can't, and that's the simple truth.
The tea is outstanding too. I've never ever ever ever been a Chai person until Ruhi brewed me a cup of her delightful tea. I'm a convert now.
Service has never faltered. Excellent crew of friendly, intelligent, and entertaining staffers, working together as an unbeatable team.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This little coffee shop is in such a great location, right next to the courthouse square. I love the fact that all of their coffee, milk, and syrups are organic and fair trade. I ordered a Mexican Mocha Blanc (white chocolate mocha with cinnamon) and it was delicious. All of the girls who work here are incredibly sweet and helpful. This place is a nice addition to downtown RWC.

I know the owner personally and am watching her put so much into the place. I was excited before she even started and now seeing all the hard work and dedication she has given to the place, I am TOTALLY EXCITED to see it open. Cant wait to get my first drink at this place. Its so close to the movie theater, and conveniently located as far as parking, food and entertainment. See you there.

Literally have just returned from grabbing a late lunch with a friend. I grabbed some really good iced tea here (blueberry rooibos) a few months back. Today I had their wild rose tea (iced) and tried their Caprese (fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil) sandwich. Now the tea was spot on but their sandwiches eh not so much. When she said sourdough I thought I'd be getting something resembling a baguette but it look more like two slices of wonder bread. For the price and what we got, the sandwiches weren't up to par but the tea is still fabulous. From all the raves about the coffee I will definitely be coming back to try the coffee. But overall a great place to grab a cold or hot drink any time of the year.

Friendly, affordable and delicious - oh and organic too! They've got a good selection of tasty sandwiches, snacks and coffee drinks. They're a welcome addition to the scene in downtown RWC. Looking forward to visiting often for a quick bite or coffee.

Hippie tea herbal blah blah blah... the funny thing was... IT WORKED! Not only did it taste good, cleared out my throat and sinus. Ruhina I owe you big time!

This place is right next to office, and it's recently become our favorite "get out of the office for a few minutes" spot. The prices are reasonable, the drinks are good (at least the coffee drinks), and the staff are very friendly. There's been a few hiccups lately with training new hirers, but nothing I'm sure they won't overcome.

The best coffee in Redwood City. The lady will even ask you if you want a dry or wet cappuccino and that basically never happens anywhere else. Go here for great coffee. Nice location on the square.
