    Who likes crumpets? I do!

Whenever I venture down to the Pike's Place Market, my first stop would be here. I love ordering their lox and cream cheese crumpet. The crumpet is nice and toasty, and the combination of the savory smoked salmon on a soft layer of cream cheese would satisfy anyone's palate.

If you need to satisfy your crumpet cravings, come here or take some home with you. You will not be disappointed!

My friends and I found The Crumpet Shop because of Yelp.  Either that or Judy W found it and introduced it to us.

This place is open pretty early in the mornings, so we were able to visit The Crumpet Shop for breakfast before we went out on a tour of beautiful Seattle.  Lucky for us, we got there right when they opened at 7AM.  A few minutes after we ordered, the lines started forming up.  This place gets busy!

I'm not much of a crumpets person, but the crumpets here could easily turn me.  I tried a few of the crumpets and they were delicious.  I loved the green eggs and ham crumpet as well as the Vermont maple butter cream cheese and walnuts one. Their sweet crumpets were just as good as their savory ones.  I was able to sample Judy W and Linda N's crumpets..and wanted theirs all to myself.

If you're in the area, head over to The Crumpet Shop for a great treat.  Order two crumpets though, because one will not fill you up. :D

One thing to remember about this place: patience is a virtue, especially if you are here on a weekend.  We came here on a Saturday and it took a long while to get our order.  The guy who was in charge forgot what we had and hunted us down to be reminded.  I wish there was a better ordering system than just telling the guy.  When it gets busy it is so easy to forget what people ordered.
That being said, yummo!  The crumpets were delicious!!  I went with two people and we all love our different options.  SO GOOD!
The atmosphere is fun and its a great place to go.  Its not a huge portion but its perfect for Pikes Street Market where you eat a little, go down the street and eat a little more.
Be warned, its not cheap but it is delicious.

Cute little place. Seating is pretty tight, but what isn't downtown?

I had the Blue cheese with apricot jelly. I skipped the almond butter that was supposed to come on it. I had tea. The crumpet was great. I'd never had one before and thought it was very good. They have a bunch of types of tea out, so you can get refills and choose your flavor.

I think it's neat that they make the crumpets there themselves and, as I understand it, they also make other kinds of bread. The employees were very nice, and they weren't all hipster uppity like I've encountered downtown where employees think it's so cute and ironic that they work in a quaint little shop serving quaint little things. At this place, they were helpful and didn't mind that I asked questions.

The price was good, and they take credit/debit cards.

On the corner of Pike and 1st is a special spot that everyone; local, tourist, or alley hobo, must visit once in their life. That place my friends, is none other than, The Crumpet Shop.

I first read about this little gem on Yelp weeks before a vacation. Being a SoCal native has sheltered me from such English delights and reading the reviews built up a lot of crumpet lust. Never had one in my life, but they sounded so delightful. Thank the lord, that they did not disappoint.

Round 1: My boyfriend and I got the Green Eggs and Ham crumpet and a Blackberry Preserve crumpet. He also got a drip coffee and I got a mocha. The green eggs and ham were great. A nice thick slice of ham and the eggs were definitely green (slight pesto flavor). Everything was hot and complimented each other nicely. The Blackberry Preserve was fresh and tasty, but together with the crumpet I wouldn't say it was amazing. I think if we were to get any of the preserves again I would pair it with some cream cheese. Preserves on their own just don't hit my spot, I guess.

Round 2: After scarfing those bad boys down, we had to order more. We got a Pesto, Tomato, Cheddar Cheese crumpet and a Ricotta, Honey, Walnut crumpet. The pesto crumpet was yummers. They really piled on the pesto and I think it would make a great mini lunch, as well as a hearty breakfast meal. My boyfriend said that it was his favorite. As for the Ricotta, Honey, Walnut crumpet... HEAVEN in my mouth. Honestly... I had honey dripping down my hands, arms, face and I did not care one bit. The soft ricotta cheese with the sweet honey and walnut crunch was perfect. I wanted to get another, but I was too full.

Crumpets run from about $2 to $5. A nice little surprise was that they give you a free refill of coffee if you get a coffee or mocha (maybe the other drinks too, not sure). The coffee was typical and the mocha was really rich and creamy. I repeat, the mocha was REALLY rich. There was dark chocolate at the bottom of my cup when I finished. I took my free refill of coffee to go.

In conclusion, I nightdream and daydream about living right next to this crumpet haven just so I could eat that ricotta crumpet every morning. I yelped places in Orange County and haven't found any places even having crumpets. Sad face. So, I may really have to move. Crikey.

I always forget about this place which is a shame. I think it's because when you work downtown you are overrun with lunch choices and sometimes you get stuck in the rut of walking to the same 3 or 4 places over and over again.

The crumpet shop is great because it's the perfect spot to get a quick lunch on a chilly, gray day that is so typical of Seattle. On the few occasions that I've been I have always gotten some sort of open faced crumpet sandwich and a cup of soup. Today it was a warm crumpet topped with pesto, a slice of fresh tomato and parmesan cheese. The soup was tomato and red lentil - it was extremely red though so I suspect that it also contained beets. Both things were delicious. The crumpet - warm and fresh tasting - was the perfect match for the ripe tomato, pesto and cheese. It's definitely a thing to eat with a knife and fork though so if you are getting it to go, keep that in mind. The soup was also tasty - earthy and well seasoned.

Service is quick - I was in and out of there in just a few minutes even with her making my sandwich from scratch.

While I was there I saw someone order a crumpet topped with salmon spread and cucumber slices.... next time!

I ordered the green eggs (pesto), tomato and cheese crumpet and a 12 oz mocha the morning we arrived on our trip to Seattle. Since this was my first time visiting the city I was super hyped in trying the local coffee. The mocha at the Crumpet Shop didn't disappoint. The mocha had a very distinct dark chocolate flavor which made it unique from the mochas I have had elsewhere. The crumpet also was delicious. I was surprised at how fresh the tomato tasted.

My wife had the wild salmon with cream cheese crumpet and we did not like it much. We thought it would be pieces of smoked salmon on the crumpet but it was more like a pureed salmon spread.

I'd like to go back and try their selection of sweet crumpets. The lemon curd crumpet and nutella crumpet looked sinful!

    Ahhhh at long last!
I have been a fan of crumpets for some time now but have always had to buy them in the dairy isle, go home, and heat them up. About a year ago a co-worker found out that I would be moving to Seattle and dared me to look up The Crumpet Shop. I came straight to yelp and it was a love affair. Days of shifting thru the pictures and drooling and longing. Then the wait was OVAHHHH!
There is something to be said about a fresh warm crumpet and cream cheese and that something is YUMMMMERS. I gobbled down a ham, egg, and cream cheese crumpet and Dani had the same sans cream cheese. Very fun and warm environment and definitely a fav.

The Crumpet Shop is a quaint spot that's a delight to pop into on those mornings when I have arrived downtown with time to spare, or on those days when I decide that having a decent breakfast and cuppa something is more important than being early to work.

The shop is staffed by a gregarious young man who seems to have a good memory of his customers (or me, at least) and three or four bright-eyed, more-attractive-than-they-strictly-need-to-be-for- a-tea-and-crumpet-shop girls. (I don't really mind.) They'll take your order, prompting you for options if what you've selected can be prepared in various manners, and get it going. Service is generally quite welcoming.

I have had various crumpets as well as the groats ($4.50). "Groats? What are groats?" I hear you ask. Tempted as I am just to say, "Look it up, dummy!" let's just say that it's a warm cereal that's sort of like oatmeal, but with a more distinct, chewier texture. Groats are actually the hulled grains of any of various cereal grains, and I'm not sure what type of groats the Crumpet Shop serves, but they are satisfyingly plump and chewy. I get mine prepared with the works: soy milk, brown sugar and honey, and currants. You can alternatively get nonfat milk or whole milk. The portion is relatively substantial; you won't be hungry afterward.

The savory crumpets make for a tasty lunch. I've had the salmon and cucumber crumpet as well as a pesto, cheese, and-tomato crumpet. There are lots of combinations, and something is sure to appeal to you. Unless you have a tiny appetite, you'll need more than one if it's to serve as a meal for you. I've either never had or it's been a long time since I have had a real crumpet (and Tastykake "Butterscotch Krimpets" do not count--even though it's been a long time since I've had one of them, too), so I can't even tell you how authentic these crumpets are. But if I'm to take a cue from the effort that is visible in the glass-windowed kitchen area behind the service area, they seem to take their care making them with love, and the result is appropriately light-ish and spongy.

There are all sorts of teas available that you can order by the mug. Amongst the teas, there are two types: those that they keep brewed at all times in airpots for you to serve yourself unlimited refills (true for brewed coffee, too), and single-mug brews of less mainstream teas. If you order an unlimited-refill tea, they will happily give you a to-go cup if you have finished your meal and wish to take some more tea with you. I have been drinking the yerba maté when I visit, and it's a refreshing, uplifting alternative to coffee that I quit drinking some years back because I was too lazy to continue making it--so it's nice to find it brewed and ready without any effort required on my part. Another bonus of maté is that it doesn't give you nasty-ass coffee breath. No one likes your nasty-ass coffee breath. In a further testament to the quality of service, the maté ran out as I was filling my to-go cup, and when I alerted one of the staff, she stopped what she was doing to immediately brew some more, and even filled my cup for me before it was finished brewing so that I could get on my way. Thanks, Crumpet Shop!

Speaking of to-go, though, I recommend eating in-house if you can swing it, and if there is seating available. (Seating for groups is limited, but there are a number of seats along the edges, facing out from the shop, that are suitable for solo diners or duos.) I say this because I don't think the food travels exceptionally well, in part because of the nature of the food, and in part because they are not really prepared to package their items to-go. The first time I ordered groats, I was short on time and ordered it to go. They gave it to me in a tall to-go coffee cup with a spoon taped to the side. On that occasion, I'd ordered the groats-and-crumpet combo (more food than I needed), and in addition to the odd packaging of the to-go groats, I was served a crumpet with jelly on a ~6" paper plate. When I asked if they had appropriate to-go packaging, I was proffered another ~6" paper plate to invert on top of the crumpet. Not exactly secure or mess-free. So, do yourself a favor, find a spot, and order your food to be eaten in-house. You'll end up taking a moment for yourself out of an otherwise too-busy world and be glad you did.

Crumpets....think English Muffin but more like a pancake.  Top it off with your choice of accompaniments and you have a quick and cheap breakfast to start your day at the market.

The shop is small and situated right on the outskirts of the market.  We ordered one with egg and ham and another with butter and honey.  About 5 mins later our crumpet order was announced.

I opted for a fork and knife seeing as how my crumpet was drenched in butter and honey.  To some that might sound bad but it wasn't...it needed all that butter and honey to make a deliciously sweet breakfast treat.  It was light and airy on the top but slightly hard on the bottom.  Several times my knife slipped off the plate trying to cut it into bite size pieces.  My boyfriend said it was good but disappointed that the eggs were microwaved and not fried to order.

They were good...and a great way to start a tasting tour of the market.

Never had a crumpet until I tried one at the Crumpet Shop, and I am now hooked.

    The food:
Their crumpets are pillowy and warm, topped with fresh delicious toppings, and of course everything is made to order. The vermont maple butter, cream cheese and walnut combo is a definite winner for the sweet variety, as well as the Ricotta, almond butter and orange marmalade crumpet combo. If you're in more of a simple mind set, the butter and honey choice is classic and tasty. The crumpet shop also makes amazing scones, and with blackberry preserves!!! Soooo yummy! On the savory side, the Green eggs and ham crumpet is a solid choice. Although i've never had any of their tea, the selection looks amazing. You honestly can't go wrong with any of their listed combinations. It appears to me they've done relentless research to see what flavors compliment each other, and have the beautiful results listed on their menu. The flavor combos are balanced, complimentary and don't over power each other.

    The shop:
Seating is somewhat limited, and the line to order your food isn't always clear. There is some outside seating as well, which is great for people watching... and being so close to the market, this always makes for cheap entertainment.

    Tea and a crumpet anyone?

With gelato now checked off the list we proceeded to the final stop of our first day in the market, a stop that intrigued me largely because not only had I never tasted a crumpet before but because I'd never even seen one on a menu before - two deficiencies I was rather certain a visit to The Crumpet Shop would solve even before we opened the door and crossed the threshold from the cold and rainy streets to the warm and welcoming interior where we were quickly greeted by two of three young female servers and a plethora of enticing smells.

Having already decided that we would check out no more than two options given the day's substantial eating plans it was with a great deal of deliberation and consultation with the staff before we made our choices and after watching the medium sized English Muffins emerge from a small storage bin my sister set off to fill her cup of tea while I watched the pastries undergo the careful process of toasting, topping, and finally plating before carrying them to the table and filling my own cup of fair trade coffee - a thick Guatemalan blend with nutty notes and free refills but only sugar and Stevia available for sweetening (thus requiring me to break into my stash of Equal commandeered from Starbucks earlier that day.)

With the coffee and tea now prepared to our liking my first bite of Crumpet would be the menu topping "Maple Butter" option made with a creamy frosting laden with notes of both butter and pure Canadian maple syrup plus a bit of cream and without a doubt I can say that this was a game changer for someone who has never really fancied English Muffins as the crust proved to be thick, crisp, and toothsome while the interior was slightly moist, laden with butter, and pillowy soft providing a great support for both the maple butter on our first choice and the house made Hazelnut Spread and Ricotta on the second, a concoction so rich one bite would have probably been enough but a flavor so delicious that I found myself debating a return visit for breakfast two days later when we found out Café Besalu was closed for their holiday break.

    Carbs. Carbs. Carbs. Awesome.

Super friendly staff churning out delicious crumpets with a variety of toppings. We had three: honey with butter, butter with cream cheese and egg and ham, butter with blackberry preserves and cream cheese. Every one of them was excellent.

This was my first time eating crumpets (kind of like a english muffin ... but a little thicker but at the same time a little less dense) and I doubt I'll find a comparable shop soon!

Just returned from a week in Seattle and I have to say that this was my favorite "find."

Not only are the crumpets delicious (you HAVE to try the Vermont maple cream/cream cheese on toasted crumpet), but the staff is very friendly and kind.

I came in several minutes after 8:00 am, but they offered to extend their "latte happy hour" so that I could take advantage of the special price. Also, when I came in the next day (had to have another of those maple cream crumpets), the worker who had been there the day before remembered me and thanked me for coming back and made a special point of making sure that I knew about free refills on their tea--and even suggested that I keep my cup to come in for free refills later. All of these things made me feel very welcome.

The location of this shop right at the entrance to Pike Place makes it easy to locate.

I'm just kicking myself now for not bringing home some of those crumpets!

The Crumpet Shop is so cute and yummy!  Service as very friendly and there was a large selection of toppings for your crumpet.  I had a cream cheese and blackberry preserve crumpet and a tomato, pesto and English cheese crumpet.  The crumpets themselves are extremely tasty and the texture is really good.  The toppings are very good and the preserve was so fresh!  English cheese just turned out to be cheddar basically and the pesto is very good as well.  My sister had almond butter on hers and said it was delicious. This place doesn't charge extra for soy which is amazing and makes its own yummy chai.

This charmingly simple shop completely changed my opinion on English muffins. Who knew that the tasteless pucks of gummy flour could ever be so rich and satisfying?

F*CK, aaand it's only $2-$3 per bite of joy! I dream about the Best English Crumpet Muffin Ever, which is toasted and buttery fresh, with the first crunchy bite yielding to a plush, warm mouthful of fresh bread, soft creamy butter, and sticky, golden honey.

Bottom Line: I would move to Seattle for another one.

My first tea and crumpet experience= Best tea and crumpet experience! There are so many reasons why I love his place:

1.) The charming and intimate community vibe- I come here and my Uncle asks what to order and a customer suggested everything. Then another customer backed him up. Just experiencing this, I felt that warm sense of Seattle community vibe.

2.) The charismatic workers- It's 8:00am in the morning and they greet us with a genuine welcome as they work diligently on the goods.

3.) Their sustainability efforts- Fair trade organic coffee!

4.) Last but not least their tea and crumpets- I ordered the salmon, cucumber, and cream cheese crumpet and  the butter hazelnut chocolate crumpet. It was delightfully fulfilling. The soft yet warm crumpet topped with a smoothing salmon/cream cheese paste. Pure deliciousness.

Overall despite the usual Seattle cold weather. This place definitely warmed my heart  and my stay at Seattle quite memorable. Thank you, Crumpet Shop.

Have a crumpet or two at the crumpet shop, you won't regret it. Fresh, moist spongy goodness. Nutella does it for me. It's crazy busy in tourist season, but if you head there in off hours you'll find it's doable even with two tots in tow. Seating is limited, service is fast and friendly.

I've never met a fresh crumpet until I stumbled into The Crumpet Shop.

Everyone working there is so polite and helpful.  My boyfriend and I just arrived in Seattle from an early morning flight.  We were sleep deprived and a little out of it.  The Crumpet Shop perked us up and filled our bellies with delicious, unforgettable food.  Crumpets are so uncommon, at least where I am from.  I don't think I've ever seen crumpets for sale before.

We shared the green eggs and ham as well as the Vermont maple butter crumpet.  I know better not to share next time.  I want these crumpets all for myself.

Their "latte hour" is amazing.  If you are up at that hour, I highly suggest stopping in there.  If you order hot tea, you get unlimited refills all day.  If you order an espresso drink you also can get a free cup of coffee.

Prices are reasonable.  There is a great selection of sweet and savory items.

The Crumpet Shop is a couple blocks from my hotel.  I want to stop there for breakfast or snack every day I am here in Seattle.  I wish they had places like this in Los Angeles.  I would die for these crumpets in LA.

I am so glad to see this place open again!

We had to come by here to check out the scone.  It's on "the list" of course, so it had to be done.

Our first attempt happened one afternoon, and they were all sold out of scones.  So we got a crumpet instead.  Now, one of my biggest complaints with crumpets has always been that they tend to be a bit dry.  That is not the case with these scones.  They don't crumble into powder.  They're delicious!

Another visit we stopped by and noticed they had a sign saying they were sold out of crumpets.  We decided to try our luck and see if they were out of scones too.  Much to my surprise, they had scones available.  Apparently it was opposite day because usually they sell out of scones pretty early each day, so I guess we got lucky.  I ordered mine with raspberry jam.  Wow, that thing was delicious!  I typically only order the sweet things with nutella or some sort of jam.  They're always very generous with the fillings.

I appreciate the fact that they offer so many choices with their fillings.  The staff is incredibly friendly, and service is relatively quick considering how many customers they see every day.

I didn't even know I needed a Crumpet. But reading the Yelp reviews I was hopeful.

It didn't disappoint.  I tried one with the ham, egg and blue cheese (with peppers). It came out silky smooth (no one does eggs like this anymore) and so so tasty.  A cup of latte and it made for the perfect Saturday morning.

I went early before any huge crowds but it was well worth any wait.  A great find across from Pike Place market.

    Cutest thing ever.

Crumpets are buttered "bread" that is a common breakfast bread amongst the Brits.  Think of it as a softer and more butter laden cousin to the english muffin.

You can actually see them make the crumpets fresh through their huge windows.

Anyways, the place has such a chill vibe.  Definitely a hole in the wall with such helpful workers, willing to answer any question you have about the menu.

I ordered the original crumpet with the raspberry jam.  The jam ended up being a thick layer on the soft buttery crumpet.  Delicious.  My husband got the pesto egg and ham crumpet.  It was simple tasting, but with a cup of tea, it was the perfect escape from the Pike Place Market loudness!

The menu was small but enough to satisfy a savory or sweet tooth.  Did I mention most items are less than $6?  Heck yes.

Now I want to make some Crumpets at home.

You don't know you need a crumpet. But you do.

What, you don't even know what a crumpet is? That's okay, just order one or two with a cup of tea or coffee and be prepared for a moment of bliss.

A Seattle MUST for locals and tourists!

The food, the layout, and the vibe that the Crumpet shop has made for itself is absolutely amazing. The crumpets are made fresh every morning and you can really tell. The texture and taste are absolutely perfect. Topping are up to you because they have everything! From savory egg to pesto, honey, or cheese, you can't go wrong.

If you want, you can buy a pack of crumpets to take home, but they come with a warning: Eat em fast, there's NO preservatives used in the making of these crumpets. They're that fresh and that pure.

But most of all, the staff is amazing. Every time I walk in they recognize me and make me feel right at home. For you first timers and tourists, be not afraid. The staff is so nice and patient and are willing to help you out or offer suggestions for orders.

You'll see me here every Sunday with my ricotta, tomato, pesto crumpet!
