My little Yaris got a "star" chip on the windshield - thanks to a little rock that flew at us on the road.
i called around a few places in Clairemont/Mission Valley area. All charged about $65 for a repair. I found The Crack Doctor on Google Maps, and they were the most affordable and friendliest folks I spoke to. It only costed $51.75 for a repair and it comes with a lifetime warranty - meaning they will repair/replace your windshield if the crack worsens.
The man who helped me was very friendly and courteous. I had a great experience here!
PS - if it's helpful to anyone, I found out that State Farm doesn't cover windshield repair. It's one of the three insurance companies that don't. BOO! -

Wow! So...Good to help someone in need as I believe you do get back what you give.
This will be one of those reviews that I will treasure as I really helped out someone in need and it turned out really Oz-some for this person.
I noticed that my friendly little cashier at the Baron's Marketplace was not smiling like she normally does when she was ringing up my groceries and I asked her why so gloom and she said, "I am was having a bad Monday today." Since it was really busy, I hesitated to ask more but then I said, "Well, I hope it gets better for ya!" She then tells me about her car windshield just had a rock make a big crack on her way driving to work this morning and she didn't want to spend over $300 to fix it as that is her insurance deductible.
Long story short, I tell her I will get back with her on some recommendations on what to do, not knowing exactly who I was going to recommend, as I had seen one of those "fix it" windshield places by my local bank.
I did a Google search and found these guys on Yelp and printed out all the reviews for her to see, and quickly bought it over to her in less than 2 hrs time. She was so happy to have a guy help her and I got that "good feeling" when you help someone out.
On Wednesday November 23, 2011, I see her and she shows me her car windshield and I can't even notice where there was a crack in the windshield. She gives me another one of those good hugs and tells me again how much she appreciated me helping her out as the guys from this place came to her work and made the repairs while she was at work at less than a third of the price to get a windshield repaired. She even used the discount coupon I printed out for her from the company's website.
Doing something for someone who really appreciated the results and is extremely pleased right before "Thanksgiving" is the best feeling to experience as it was so serendipitous how it all happened. Kudos the "Crack Doctor team!"
PS: I only wish I had a before picture to illustrate the great job these guys did!! -

Awesome spot....My car had a crack in the windshield, so I called the Crack Doctor, and they got me right in. Best of all, they are a preferred supplier for my insurance company (USAA) - it cost me zero out of pocket. I had no idea that insurance companies covered this fix, probably because no other crack fixer was ever nice enough to tell me! I was in and out in no time. I will definitely be coming back for any other cracks I get in my windshield.

Driving home from LA 2 rocks ended up hitting my windshield. One left a tiny chip and the second hit the very top of my windshield leaving an 8in curved crack. I called several places to have this fixed. Some places said they don't fix cracks and that they just replace the windshield instead. I really didn't want to pay for the quality of an aftermarket windshield. They are never as good. Since my car is fairly new I decided to have the crack repaired and if anything else happened just replace the entire windshield.
Browsing around Yelp I saw "The Crack Doctor". What's another call when I already made a handful of calls. I talked to Gene and he gave me a nice price on my repair. I go in today and get it repaired. He was friendly and lived up to his original quote for the repair. There is still a hairline visible crack; however, he put a crack stopper in it's path. He also guarantees his work for any further cracking.
I am very pleased with my service. All I want is someone to tell me the truth, give me a fair price and do great work as promised. Hard for many businesses but not this one. -

I love the name of this guys place.
My windshield suffered a pretty bad daisy from a rock that I just couldn't avoid.
After calling up the place my insurance recommended and then getting the run around I let yelp give me a yelping hand and Gene the Crack Doctor came up.
He told me to swing by that he could squeeze me in...I got there and he diagnosed it and took care of it. I appreciated that he was willing to help me out and did it with a smile and old fashion professionalism. -

Came here last week after I discovered two cracks on my windshield and gave these folks a call.
Geoff was helpful over the phone and got me an appointment the same day and gave me a great quote over the phone. When I arrived on site an hour later, he took the time to explain to me the process he was going to do to repair the cracks then quickly went to work.
The process probably took less than 20 minutes and after it was completed, he made sure that I slipped my receipt in my glove box because they have a lifetime warranty. Nice!
After all was said and done, he gave me a few coupons to hand out to my family and friends and even added me to their mailing list which arrived today with an additional coupon.
Great service with a smile! Even better, Geoff is a local comedian that has a free show up north.
I strongly recommend this place for all of your windshield repairs.

Two small rock chips in my windshield on the same day while driving through Bryce Canyon. In San Diego 2 weeks later & the top of my list was to get those chips repaired ASAP.

Great place. Fast, friendly service. I got a star shaped rock chip on my windshield (about size of a dime) less than 24 hours ago from time of repair. The lines are almost invisible and the impact from the center is BARELY visible.
He said the fresher the chip, the better the repair job. Also, he saved me 45 bucks out of pocket because I didn't know that insurance would cover for a repair.
Definitely going to recommend to friends. -

Awesome business name. I love it. It makes me smirk when I hear the employees answer the phone and say their greeting.
My Honda had a chip on the windshield and I started to freak out. I did not want to shell out the cash for a new windshield so I started asking around and a few people suggested this place.

Caught a rock in the windshield right after getting a speeding ticket... Way to make a bad day even worse. Called this place up a few days later to make an appointment since it got great reviews. Everything I wanted to say has already been mentioned. Hes an awesome guy, runs the shop out of Kearny Mesa. Fixed the crack in my windshield in about 20 minutes, all the while chatting with me various topics. It came with a lifetime guarantee that it won't crack in the same place again. It can be nervewracking taking your car to get fixed anywhere since it's always a gamble that you're not getting your money's worth. But with Geoff I felt really confident knowing I'd spent my money wisely.

Ok, I didn't actually use this company's service... so why am I writing a review? Am I completely nuts? Well... the jury is still out on that, but please hear me out anyway...
I was driving down the road, minding my own business, when WHAM! a rock hits my windshield... I didn't see a chip, so I thought I was scott free... I went to work, parked, and spent my day. That evening I got back in my truck to find a 10" crack coming up from under my wiper on the driver side. A number of expletives left my lips... but I'll keep this family friendly...
Over the next two days, the crack grew to about 12"-14"... desparate, I called my insurance company who said they'd cover anything over my deductible. (great! $500!) Anyway, I called their "preferred vendor" who gave me a low $200 price. (including the "my mommy says I'm special" discount).
So I yelped for help, and called Gene. He gave me a price to repair, but then said with the 3 existing chips and the crack, I would probably not be happy with the repair. He advised me to call another company and "tell them Gene sent you."
So, for about For the SAME cost as the repair, I have a new window on the way! How many people would turn down business because it's the right thing to do? I know 1: Gene, the Crack Doctor!
He's #1 on my list for all auto-glass repairs...

This place is awesome!!! I called prior to coming to see if they could squeeze me in last minute. After a slight hesitation from the gentleman on the phone, I was told to come on over. When I arrived, what I assumed to be two customers were finished and on their way. Looks like my timing was spot on. A kind gentleman approached my car to investigate my chip. Immediately he let me know that my insurance would cover the repair costs. Seriously?!! Get out!!! My lucky day. Here I am all prepared to pay up for the damage caused by an itty bitty pebble that was probably traveling at speeds upwards of 90 mph and low in behold I don't have to pay a thing!!! The repair man gave me the instructions to make a claim and by the time the crack was repaired, my insurance company had faxed him everything he needed.
I wish I had asked the repair man his name as he definitely deserves a shout out. We chatted while he worked and he even wrapped up by giving me a birthday hug. I give this place 5 well deserved stars. They were fast, friendly, and did a great job on the window. -

Awesome service! This is what a small business should be like. On the drive back from Vegas yesterday, a small stone hit my windshield. a small "Star Crack" occurred.
I needed it fixed asap so headed over to the Crack Doctor. Gene has a small storefront in a tiny office building in Kearney Mesa, but the guy is super nice, cheap ($49 for the star crack) and even is one of only two National Windshield Repair Association certified technicians. Bonus points for the official uniform being a pair of medical scrubs with their logos on the shirt. The repair was quick (15 minute) and was 95% removed (it wasn't estimated to be fully removed and I can barely see it now). Gene even walked me through what my insurance company would be asking for and how to get a reimbursement for the repair costs. All in all, a solid small business that deserves more Yelp reviews. Head over to the good doctor! They even conduct classroom training sessions for windshield repair techs too. Awesome! -

Did a rock hit your windshield??? Dont' worry!!!
The second day I had my new Audi A4 a rock caught me on the I-8.
I was sick to my stomach... but I went home... did some research and found The Crack Doctor in Kearny Mesa!
The next morning, I called Gene, the owner, and he performed 'the surgery " himself. He made the chip virtually disappear! ...just a very small milky colored mark is left where a dime sized chip was before. He dresses in a Dr's smock and calls his service bay "the operating room". He also has a classroom where he teaches people from all over the US how to do chip repairs properly... I was in and out in 20 min! ...and my insurance co will reimburse me--waiving the deductible.
Great service and result!!!! Everyone should do this type of repair to avoid any of your chips from becoming cracks...and you will not have to replace your windshield.

Just had my windshield repair today. Maybe with the bad weather, the repair might not stick. But the service was wonderful. He really tries to help. Most people didn't even want to fix the problem when I described it over the phone. He at least was willing to look at it. My situation was on the border of having to get it replaced completely. Even if the fix doesn't stick, I really wouldn't be blaming him. He at least stopped it from spreading or getting worse. I'll just have to monitor it and see if I do have to get a replacement later.
I'm at least very happy it wouldn't be getting worse quickly. The guy is very good and I would say I trust him.Listed in: Amazing Service Experiences

Gene is very nice and honest! I called last night and left a voice message asking for an estimate, Gene called me back today first thing in the morning. I felt the price was fair, made an appointment, and brought my car in. Gene checked carefully from both outside and inside of my car and said there is nothing to fix. It is just a nip of the surface and it didn't even hurt the glass. He asked me to just monitor it and only bring it back if I see any change. I will refer The Crack Doctor to anyone who needs windshield repair! Great customer service!

BMW 3 Series Windshield Crack and Chip Repair
A rock chip on the way home turned into a 10" crack by the time I got home. I spoke to Geoff the following day about the damage and he came out to my office in Sorrento Valley to perform the repair same day. He came out and performed the repair with no fuss no muss. I knew the crack wouldn't be fully invisible and expected some residual scarring, so his repair was satisfactory. Geoff was extremely personable and courteous. Customer service is the number one reason why I'd reccomend TCD.
For anyone out there with a crack, I would highly reccomend you at least consider repair vs. replacement. Keep the factory seal and avoid windshield replacement troubles (improper installation causes additional wind noise and in-cabin leaks) as well as keeping another windshield out of our landifills. -

I had taken my chipped and cracked windshield to two other windshield repair shops and was told by both that I had to replace it and that there was no way they could fix the windshield. Well, I wasn't going to take no for an answer because I really had a feeling it could be done. Plus, I was told by a mechanic friend to avoid replacing the windshield because you would never have that nicely sealed windshield again. So, I called up The Crack Doctor and, to my amazement, he was able to meet me at work later that day. He told me that he could definitely fill the chip and crack but he cautioned me that there was a chance that it wouldn't hold. I said "let's go for it" and he got to work. I was impressed by the service this fellow gave me and that he took the time to explain the risks to me but said that he would also try to do his best to fix the problem--unlike the others who just said 'no.' The Crack Doctor repaired the damage and, now 3 months later, that repair is still holding out just fine. I'm so happy I went with The Crack Doctor. They do excellent work.

This place is great. They are very professional. They explained the process to me and guided me on how I could get my car insurance to pick up the tab. I did not have an appointment and they took care of me right away. They took no more than 20 minutes to fix the rock chip on my windshield.

Visited The Crack Doctor today for a stone chip on my windshield that occurred during the drive home from LA yesterday. The process was extremely quick and painless and looks almost as good as new (I'd say 97% removed). Both Gene and Jeff were professional and courteous over the phone and in person. Noticed a chip this morning, didn't want the crack to spread. They helped me to work with Geico and sent a guy out an hour later to my office. 30 minutes later, damage fixed, very minimal scarring, and the guy was nice as well. I hope I never have to have my windshield repaired ever again, but if I do, I'll go with the Crack Doctor.

Great place!! i can hardly tell that my windshield was damaged. When it happen i asked my insurance agent if i was covered as it was a brand new car and we had the full coverage plan. She told me i had to pay extra for it but would look in to find out if we had it covered or not. If we did she would call me back. i havent heard from her for a week so figured we had to pay out of pocket. when i got the crack doctor, Gene told me that the insurance do covers it and told me the steps to take to get it so i wouldnt have to pay out of pocket. Thanks Gene!!
