I'm giving this 4 stars on my diner scale, and it almost earned 5 stars. (Okay, I admit it -- I really like diners.)
Anyway, this place has everything you could ask for from a local diner. Great, fresh diner food, breakfast all day, home made stuff (like their own soda), a signature plate (steamed chesseburgers), and local decor -- in this case, police patches from all over the world cover nearly every horizontal surface. It is on your left only a little more than a mile past the Starbucks, Bickfords, Red Robin and other chain fare just off Exit 47E of Interstate 91.
If you like local diners, give this one a try -- you'll be glad you did. -

ooooh I am sorry i meant to update this last year when we decided we would NEVER go here again! i would give it one star but for people who aren't fussy they might still find the breakfast decent.
However, dont get breakfast at dinnertime...because its a different cook and they dont know what the heck they are doing. Last time we were there at dinner (already knowing their dinner meals are greasy and yucky) ..... we were craving breakfast....but it was horrible. The waitress was very snarky (i think weve had one really friendly waitress) and every single thing was messed up and took forever to get the waitresses attention! or to get it fixed!
We tried a couple more times, both for takeout and breakfast ...when we had 'amnesia' and forgot we no longer liked it!
Im sorry to my other yelpers for leaving this as 5 stars, it certainly is not! im wondering if maybe they just started buying cheaper quality ingredients? because it just really took a nosedive. Bummer! i love a good diner!2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Yay eggs!
So Country Diner has that feel of a old-school local eating place. It's a little out of the way of the usual Enfield businesses, but it's a decent find. It has a cop feel (apparently the owner is an ex-cop) and the setup seems to evoke diners all over the place.
As for the food itself, it's good for the price, and what you expect: diner food. I had a Popeye omelet (spinach and cheese). That was quite good, though a little heavy on the spinach. The home fries were also very good, as well as the toast.
All in all, a good value for the money. -

With a couple cop cars parked in the lot, we figured this place is either a crime in progress or a decent spot to eat.
We found a pleasant lunch time stop while wandering the Enfield/Somers area.
I opted for a corned beef Reuben. The bread was fresh, toasted nicely, and the corned beef was lean and flavorful. The sandwich was served fresh and hot by a delightfully friendly waitress. The fries could have been better; tasty but kind of wilted. I'm guessing that while the sandwich was made for me, the fries were made well before I arrived. Too bad.
What brings this place from a solid 3 to a weak 4 star spot is the wide selection of custom made house sodas. I had Birch Beer! That takes me back to camp. I forgot to check to see if they had Sarsaparilla! -

Wow. Amazing home cooking. Same family as diner food but on a whole different level of quality. The wait staff was poky to the point of causing rage issues with me, but the meal more then made the poor service acceptable, and they were probably just having a bad day anyway.

What a waste of time. We saw this diner on TV and they were gushing over their prime rib. So, we drive over an hour to get there just for their "wonderful "prime rib and guess what? They are" not ready to serve it"! WTHeck?!! Waitress was snippy, acted like she could care less about us. Fries were ok, not hot. Reuben was ok. She came by once right after we got our food. We were never asked if we wanted dessert or more drinks or anything else. Had to ask bus boy clearing our table for bill. Just not worth the effort. We will not be going back.

Ate for breakfast there. Got the farmer brown special. Eggs, home fries, sausage and the pancakes were all delish and its a lot of food for your money.

We decided to try the country diner because it was within 5 miles of 6 Flags. I was pretty pleased with what we got. I had the shaved steak breakfast burrito with homefries and my wife got the chili cheese breakfast burrito. Very good burrito's and the homefries are good griddle cooked fresh potatoes. Coffee was just normal diner coffee nothing impressive.

Its a diner. Diner food at diner prices. Yeah its good because, well, greasy diner food is good. But, its only good if that is the type of food you are looking for. I can't possibly give it any more than 3 stars because even the best diner food just isn't that good to me.

Again, an Enfield restaurant that the locals and cops seem to love but I didn't think was great. Does Enfield have any stand out restaurants? Help!

I was there for a weekday breakfast--good traditional diner fare (slightly overcooked omelet, good greasy homefries). My only gripe, but a big one, is a waitress (not mine, just walking past) so drenched in perfume that I got a headache. She arrived mid-way through my meal so I did finish, but if she'd started out as my waitress I wouldn't have stayed.
