This location was definitely hard to find. It's sort of diagonal from Overtime Fitness. I arrived at ~11:40 a.m. on a Friday and it was quite empty. 10 minutes after I got my Californian sandwich with a cup of clam chowder, the place had a line to the door!
The place is cafeteria-style where you order and pick up your food then find seating. There's ample seating, even for large (10+) groups. Just pull together tables and voila!
I like the service and the food, however I took off 1 star because the facility could use some upgrades. There are huge holes in the ceiling and the drink dispensers are falling apart. Aesthetics are just not there.
I had half of my sandwich left so the Country Deli staff helped to package it to-go. Yes! This could be part of my dinner. I brought it back to work and left it in the shared fridge. When I was leaving work, I went to grab my sandwich, but it was GONE! I was so heart broken! I had forgotten that our fridge is cleared every Friday. Not gonna be staying past 5 pm anymore!
Tried the eggplant sandwich ($6.25) here and can't say I was impressed - I think it was mainly due to the fact that it was on a french roll. There aren't too many vegetarian options here (there's a vegetarian sandwich here but it has falafel which I'm not a fan of).
The employees here are nice and the chocolate chip cookies ($1) are super yummy - though the one I got was not warm/fresh (I hear those ones are to die for!). The deli itself is pretty hard to find so you can drive by it pretty easily if you don't know where you're going.
I have to up the stars here - I tried the Ed's Special today with no mayo, and it was amazing - and i don't even like ham!
The Ed's Special comes on a toasted dutch crunch roll, with lots of thickly sliced ham, thick melted slices of gouda, honey mustard, lettuce, and tomato (and mayo if you want it). The crunchiness of the roll with the sweet crust, and the sweet ham and savory cheesy goo was just so delicious. I couldn't stop myself from eating all of it as quickly as I could.
My friend ordered the reuben and polished off hers just as quickly and just as happily. What a good find for weekday lunchers!

Good sandwich place for lunch. Heard their soup and cookies are good although I've never had them personally.
Perfect, hits the spot, homemade sandwich place.
They have a ton of options and can customize your sandwich to be anyway you want. They use Le Boulanger bread, and it's soft and fresh.
The best part is... they always remember you and your customized order.
This place definitely hits the spot when you're craving a home-made sandwich.
I used to think that the yellow cake at the Country Deli was perfect.
WRONG.
As some of you know, I have some baker friends that have put me in my place.
Decent yellow cake, great sandwiches, and nice people watching venue.

I have been going to this place for at least 6 years now.
Always great service.
Warm right out of the oven Cookies and Brownies.
Try the new kufta they have. Its very good.
Arrived late here for lunch - around 1:30, and found the place had plenty of selection, and was clean, which is a bit of an accomplishment. Along with Rob G. and Meredith, we ventured into salad territory yet again. I got a taco salad (minus the chips, minus the sour cream), which was prepared quickly. At $7, it was not cheap, but weighing in at 3 pounds, it was not overpriced by any means!
We sat outside under some very nice redwoods (photo to follow) and enjoyed the sunshine. The salad was good, but not at all authentic. Reminded me of the kind that momma used to make when I was a kid - tasty, but nothing south-of-the-border about it. I was pleased that they had the flavored crystal geyser sparkling water that I liked as well.
All in, reasonably tasty, clean, and generally A-OK.
This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch. Their sandwiches are decently sized and decently priced. I usually get the Pesto Express for $6.25 - turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, w/ lots of yummy pesto on your choice of bread. They also have salads and pasta, and occasionally some other items (I think one of my coworkers once got a chicken enchilada).
What makes this place special though, is the COOKIES. For $1 more, you can get yourself a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. Warm and gooey in the middle, perfectly crispy around the edges, it will melt in your mouth and leave you feeling happy and content for hours. I hear their brownies are tasty as well, but I'm so addicted to the cookies that I've never been able to convince myself to try a brownie instead!
To the reviewer that said they'd rather get a Specialty's cookie, I urge you to give these a chance. Though I initially preferred Specialty's, I was eventually won over by the consistent high quality of the Country Deli cookies. They're not as big, but they're generally fresher and almost always more perfectly cooked. Admittedly, I do prefer Specialty's sandwiches :)
Anyway, a few other non-cookie-related notes... the 2 guys who work the registers are pretty friendly (I think they may be the owners). One of my coworkers who's been going to this place for years usually stops to joke with them or chat for a few minutes. We normally get our food to go, but they do have a lot of seating available, including some outdoors. In all, this is a great lunch option - come for a sandwich and a fresh, delicious cookie!
This is the default lunch stop for many people who work in the area. It's a nice little place with very consistent staff and seemingly owned by a family (two brothers, Ed and Vic, work the cash registers).
There is a secret menu item: the Pepper Jack Chicken Sandwich. Try it! Also, the Chicken Caesar Salad and Turkey Club are very good. The fresh cookies are too often irresistible.
What not to try: Philly Cheesesteak (it's not steak; it's actually roast beef with cheese and some chilis all on a hoagie roll) and the Kufta (sounds good, but it's just OK).
What do accountants eat for lunch: sandwiches, duh... I mean, creative isn't it. This place is actually pretty decent. Fresh sandwiches, lots of options, just not a lot of healthy options. Always got a chicken breast on wheat with no spread due to the lack of healthy spreads. Portions are pretty big, cookie looks good but specialty's a mile away is way better for cookies.
Overall, reasonably priced for lunch. Sandwich, chips and a drink for approx $8 if I remember right. Just wish they had more variety. Still, good quick food. A hole in the wall location. Good sandwich place and a natural default place for lunch when in the area.
Quick, efficient and a little crowded. The food is decent. This is the place if you work in the area and want a quick lunch. Menu is mostly sandwiches but have pasta as well. They have outdoor seating which is nice. Don't forget to get their freshly baked cookie. They are just right!
I came here for lunch again today. I had the Pepper Jack Chicken Breast sandwich and it was to die for!!! The chicken is juicy and plenty ...mmm... The sandwich is toasted and is stacked with: Lettuce, tomato, gooey pepper-jack cheese, chicken, pepperincini's (sp.), avocado. It was soooo good, I'm going back soon!
Also, the staff here is very nice and they are quick. A definite plus during the typical lunch rush =).

OMG! I just tried this place and I am in love with their Roasted Turkey Sandwich and Chocolate Chip… Read more »
One of the best chocolate chip cookies ever, and I have had a lot so that means a lot. my chipotle chicken sandwich was tasty, bread was fresh and perfectly toasted. great customer service. Not sure why I'm only giving them 4 stars, i'm tempted to give them 5.
I met Hubster and Mr. and Mrs. Rabbit here for lunch once upon a time. (Funny story: I used Google maps to look up directions to here and for some *strange* reason, they gave me a route that took me on a meandering drive past the Google complex when it wasn't necessary.)
The parking lot was small and it was packed! I probably did an uncool thing and parked in the lot next door in front of an office building. Oops. There was a line out the door of very hungry people, myself included. It didn't appear that they had printed menus just a very big chalkboard. Sadly I couldn't see the chalkboard until I advanced pretty far in line.
The line moved fast, I ordered my chicken pesto sandwich, Hubster got a philly cheese and the Rabbit's got Ed's special (which seemed to be quite popular). At the register our sandwiches were waiting right alongside a big sheet of freshly baked cookies! Yum! I didn't have one though because I was trying to be "good"
My sandwich was delicious and big, I was sad that I couldn't finish. Hubster and the Rabbit's enjoyed their lunches also along with everyone else around us and the hordes of people getting their lunches to go.
If it were closer, I'd definitely go more often.
Brownies and Bacon are the Bomb
Homemade lunch goodness and it's all about the ingredients they use. Their roast turkey is fresh and roasted on site every day. The bacon is thick and crunchy and soooo craveable no matter what you add it to (yes I did actually have it on a tuna sandwich once and it was still good). The chocolate chip cookies are made from scratch with Guittard chips and when your lucky you can get one warm off the pan. The brownies are just the right size and texture with more chocolate chips built in. Perhaps I should try putting some bacon on my brownie for the ultimate combo?
Mixed feelings, but will have to go with a lower rating.
First the goods:
-nice place for salads and low carb options (Taco, Greek and Oriental salads are good)
-variety of sandwiches, all fresh ingredients
-looks like they have nice baked goodies (cookies, brownies, cakes, etc)
Now, why not a higher rating:
-first, the salad I ordered was kind of bland. Admittedly, I ordered the oriental chicken salad without the "crunchies", but even if I had let those in there, it was basically lots of lettuce tossed with peanuts and a boiled chicken breast on top...
-second, the location is pretty weird. i typically don't pay attention to this if the food is good, but I did not get a good vibe eating at this place in the middle of a bunch of office buildings. not very attractive or inviting.
-lastly, i was a bit disappointing choosing this place after having read other yelpers' comments giving it 4s and 5s.
Man... talk about a great sandwich deli. This place is one of the best if not thee best! Makes togos and subway seem like your eating off of the roach coach. The bacon turkey and avocado gooodness.... hmmmmm.... and then.... and THEN... those chocolaty chocolate chip cookies. aaarrrggghhh... Those bastards!!!! Always luring me with there chocolaty goodness!!! I swear they put crack in their food.
Oh and it also does feel like your in a soup nazi line. What ever you do, do not hold up the line expecting the guy making the sandwich to give it to you. He will give you a dirty look... hehheehe... you pick up the sandwich at the register... hehhehe... I'm always waiting to hear that guy tell someone "NO SANDWICH FOR YOU!!"
If your hitting this place up for lunch I would try to make it here at least by 11:25 cause the lines can get pretty ridiculous and parking is a nightmare.
4.25
California, mmmmmm!!!! I didn't have the aioli on it, but i bet its super mmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with aioli. This is probably in heavy rotation for lunchtime folks around the neighborhood. I will be back for the brownies and cookies. Good for take away and outdoor patio seating. Another solid sand and salad deli on the peninsula.
Well, 3.5 stars. I don't know what's with the ecstatically rave reviews here ... I guess I just don't get all that excited about sandwiches.
Solid 'wiches, good diversity, nice ambiance. Cool lunch spot if you're local.
The people who work here are great!!! We usually get the sandwiches to go for our conferences or meetings at work. The guy that usually rings me up at the reg is always so personable and today he even helped carry my sandwiches to the car! They asked early on too if I will be ordering cookies, so they can bake them ahead of time.
There's a good selection of sandwiches to please just about everyone.
4/14/08 update:
Brownie was excellent, had choco chips and an excellent chocolate flavor. Moist and large too.
--------
Phoned in a togo order on Friday for lunch. The line was pretty long inside when I arrived but I could cut to the cashier's line and my sandwich was ready and had to get the just baked choco chip cookie that was sitting on the large baking tray next to the cashier. Also took a fudgie brownie for later. $9.50
Ordered the Vic's special, turkey with cranberry sauce and cream cheese on my choice of bread, chose sour dough sliced. The turkey was great, the meat shredded and got both dark and light meat. The cookie lived up to all the reviews...buttery, soft, crispy and chocolatey.
Plenty of parking. Remember, it is on the Century movie theater and Google side of Hwy 101.
One of my favorite weekday lunch places. It's close, quick, healthy, fresh, and the service is always friendly. It took only about 2 visits before I became a believer. My favorite sandwich is Ed's Special...a must try! Now that I'm a "regular", I usually chat for a few minutes with Ed himself.
If you get one of their famously fresh and homemade desserts (cookies or brownies - and you get to choose your own!), the cost of your sandwich delight meal could run you about $8 total. Not bad for something truly fresh and tasty delish. The have a TON on the menu - a first timer may be a little overwhelmed. Plus, they will probably make you pretty much anything you want if you ask nicely. Btw, they have more than just sandwiches and wraps. Their expansive menu includes pastas, salads, soups, and other "specialty" items. I'm not sure what the hours are, or if they have breakfast. But if it's anything like lunch, it's definitely worth a try.
5 stars for the yummy chocolate chip cookie alone! I am eating one right now...mmmmhhhhh....soo yummy! Soft with a little crispiness, not like some other stone-hard tooth breakers!
Oh, and the cookie was free. I don't know why, just threw it in for free. So, if the excellent food wouldn't already merit this deli a definite 5 stars, throwing in a free cookie would earn it another extra star, at least!
I hear their sandwiches are good, too. :-)
I was sick of this place. I mean really sick of it. I used to look forward to Fridays because it meant we went out to eat instead of bringing back Country Deli. Now, I've reset and it's a place I go once in a while and really love.
The sandwiches are great. Ed's Special and the Pepper Jack Chicken are both great. Even the simple Roast Turkey is wonderful. I usually get the special hot of the day. The Turkey Enchilada is good, as is the French Dip (monday) and the Lasagna (Tuesday). I've never had the Meatball, but friends say it's the best thing on the menu.
As with all places in this part of town, there are long lines at peak lunch. The prices ain't bad and the portions are pretty good. The parking can be a pain, but if you get there early, you'll get a good one.
In the sea of metallic turquoise cruisers and "I'm Feeling Lucky" license plate holders that make up Google country exists a little unassuming lunch spot called Country Deli.
On days when there is no catering and you need to break away from the computer screen, stop by Country Deli. They make serious good sandwiches but, as other Yelpers have stated, the parking can be a bit difficult. Pesto Express and Californian are solid choices and the prices are average for lunch. I personally like anything with bacon but you can mix and match contents as you wish.
It's good to get outside, sometimes. Just watch for the orange flags, colliding with a bicycle will seriously kill a nice day.
Get the roasted turkey. It's good, roasted on site. Cookies are yummy fresh out of the oven.
I'm lucky cuz my company gets catered sandwiches cookies and brownies from here every monday (and sometimes fridays!!!!) - at 11:30 monday I'm on the prowl for these sandwiches...............
the sandwiches are great - i always beeline for the roast beef on dutch crunch, but i've had them all (except for vegetarian, i don't touch that) turkey, chicken salad, tuna salad, pastrami.... everything's good!!!
they load up on the meat, the mayo is perfect, not too much, not too little (although i must admit my idea of perfect amount of mayo is a more than the average person) ... the sandwiches are never dry-tasting (my idea of a blasphemous sandwich)
now onto the chocolate chip cookie ----------- mmmmm I like my cookies to be chewy buttery and soft at the same time and if you know what i mean.... (i DON'T mean those store brand labeled "soft and chewy" cookies --- those are GROSS, they're like half baked cookies or something) then these cookies are right for you!!!
the brownies are all right - i'm not much of a brownie fan -- i just love the outside parts (the parts where they touch the sides of the pan....in other words, yes, the chewy buttery part) so yeah, i just eat the outside parts =P
My friends and I used to come here all the time for lunch when worked in that area. We called it the bacon place. ;-) I know, kind of random but they have really good bacon! We love the club sandwiches or just plain turkey sandwiches with bacon (less bread) or cobb salads or anything with bacon. My friend even got a tuna sandwich with bacon! :-O
They do have other things as well that I hear are great. ;-) I tried the spaghetti a few times and that was pretty good. The people who work there are really nice.
Other thing that is memorable about this place--we just went back for a mini reunion a few weeks ago--are the desserts, most notably the brownies. They are so delicious: big and chocolaty and not too cakey or too dense. May be one of my favorite brownies ever. My friend brought them to a coworker and now she's hooked too!
Downsides are the place is pretty plain and during peak lunch hours it can be really hard to find parking in that little bitty lot they have...
There has never been a time where The Country Deli let me down.
It is only 2 minutes away from my office and when I feel like a good deli sandwich, this is where I go.
This is one of those places where if you don't know where it is, you probably won't find it. Instead of being in a plaza with other restaurants, its located in an office complex on Shoreline.
Once you find it, and parking, pretty much anything you get inside this place is going to do you right.. Ed's Special always makes a crappy day better...
Their menu is quite large and I'm sure there are a few sandwiches for people with all different pallets. I don't really pay attention to the price, but I believe it is $6-7 for a sandwich. They do offer complementary water and iced tea.
If you are stopping here for a sandwich, grab a chocolate chip cookie at the register too. These are homemade chocolate chip cookies that are EXCELLENT and probably the most decadent chocolate chip cookie you have. Whoever makes these things, probably doesn't know how to measure out chocolate chips, because they pack 2-3 times more chocolate chips then they should.
By the time you finish your sandwich, you probably won't have room for the cookie, so bring it back to work and use it as a sugar boost later in the afternoon!
Best sandwich place in the valley!
The Ed Special....
The Ed Special....
... is the most incredible sandwich creation in existence.
Black forest ham, smoked Gouda, mayo, honey mustard, lettuce tomato on dutch crunch (heated). The warm sandwich releases the smoky flavors of the ham and Gouda. The mayo carries the flavors into the tomato, and the sweet honey mustard brings out the ham. MMMMmmmmm. The dutch crunchy bread is the perfect toasted texture.
This sandwich is the best of a BLT and a BBQ Sandwich.
Go..... and believe.
PS. If the chocolate chip cookies are fresh out of the oven... get one to eat at the counter, and one to eat after you finish your Ed Special.
Pretty good....
My coworker said today that it had decent decor.... which is odd for a deli.
I'm kinda of the mindset that I want my deli's looking like industrial butcher houses or something... but what it really boils down to is how the food is.. .and actually that I don't go to deli's for the decor..good food is what matters.
And they have it pretty good here. I'd like to go back and have another sampling of some of their other sandwhiches, but from what I had... not too bad at all.
so I might as well write a little bit on the decor since it was a topic of previous discussion.... spacious.. plenty of seating..
The staff is polite, efficient and seemingly pretty competent at what they do... place is clean... decent amount of parking.
NOT a chain... so better than togos, quiznos, subway.... support a local place instead of a franchise.
Excellent oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips and no raisins!
The sandwiches are okay. Egg salad sandwich is my favorite but 50% of the time, I get egg shells in my salad from the Country Deli, which is off-putting. I guess it's understandable when you're making large batches of egg salad, but still... shells are not tasty.
I am not a big sandwich person, but have to eat them when it is ordered for lunch at work. However I must confess that this place has some really good sandwiches. My favorite is the Californian. The cookies and brownies are to die for. I have heard but never tried that their ceasar salad is really good too.
The 3 stars are only for the fact that I am not a sandwich fan.
Agreed. The Pepper Jack Chicken Sando - so good you'll try and eat your neighbor's lunch if they leave it unattended. So don't sit by me if you happen to see me there. I'll gaff your ish fo sho-fo sho...
Few sentences really describe this place
- great location (close to work- 2min drive)
- deeleeesh sandwiches (have tried pepper jack chicken, California, eggplant, California club, falafel, pesto chicken), fresh ingredients (so a little on the $$ side)
- Save room for Desserts : brownies are my fav but my boss swears by the chocolate chip cookies!
Only downside, parking! Either get there by 11.30 or after 1pm else simply walk!
Eggplant sandwich was pretty good- and the salad the woman next to me in line had in front of her looked amazing! - I really thought the staff was sweet and friendly - even during a Friday lunch rush (which speaks volumes to me!) I like riding my bike around this area and was excited to see the outdoor seating - filed it under "future places to enjoy after riding when it's warmer!"
I love this place and always try to stop in for a bite when I can. They have a great selection of sandwiches and they are always tasty. What really keeps me coming back year after year (almost 10 years now) are the cookies and the cake. I just can't resist that yellow box cake with generic chocolate frosting, brings back fond childhood memories.
A hidden gem for sure. Go for the Ed's Special with Turkey vs. Ham...fantastic. The Cobb Salad is also fantastic...you know what...everything is good..you can't go wrong.

ive been looking far and wide for a good deli with substantial and tasty salads! well, i finally found it at The Country Deli.
This place is always busy & parking can be tough, but they are fast and the service is great. Everything I've tried tasted great and their cookies are AMAZING.
Good lunch spot - definitely recommended.
