Went here today and it was so yummy. The decor is super kitschy and the waitresses call you sweetheart and honey. I had the 2, 2, and Two which is 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, and 2 triangles of French Toast. YUMMERS! I can't believe that I've lived in the area my entire life and have never gone here! Time to make up for it!
I came down here a second time to confirm my 5 star beliefs.
"The price is right, Pa" omelette: Damn straight, at $5.75. Crumbled sausage, cheese, peppers, maybe some mushrooms, and onion upon request. Egg beater substitute is only $0.50 more, which I got.
It tastes heavenly, comes with potatoes, some fruit, and an english muffin. The potatoes were crisp on the edges yet soft and steaming inside, they have plenty of ketchup and both green/red Tabasco sauces. All us condiment whores had a field day.
The french toast is another great item to consider. We couldn't try pancakes b/c they're only served M-F.
Fresh grapefruit juice: $2.25. The price is right again. Bob Barker would be proud.
Unlimited refills on coffee. My boys had about 3 cups each. Service is prompt, and everyone is sweet-natured.
This is our spot to have a great Sunday breakfast. It's only open 'til 3pm though, so don't sleep in too late or you'll miss this boat.

This place is okay. The food is fine. Not amazing, nothing to write home about, but just about the same as you would cook at home.
I would say that portions are on the small-ish side, but that's not exactly true. They are regular, but at most places now-a-days, especially for breakfast, everyone serves bigger portions, and that's what I've sort of grown to expect.
I had french toast...it was fine. Not amazing, nothing really more spectacular than what I could fix at home.
Boyfriend ordered an omelette, but a few minutes later the waitress came back to say they were out of shrimp to put in his omelette. He ordered something different, but was bummed.
We shared the corned beef hash and it was pretty good.
The check was a jumbled mess, and those who like to give it the once over before paying will be annoyed at how difficult it is to match a price to an item...seriously, I'm a smart girls and it took me a while.
One bonus is that the dinner menu looked promising with all sorts of country-ish and comfort food favorites. I might try it again for dinner, but I probably won't be back for breakfast, it just didn't impress us too much.

From a breakfast standpoint...I give it a 4.
Surprisingly enough, I actually like this place. From the outside, the location is very discrete---dark--old looking, but if you actually take a step inside--it reminds me of a green house. Sun shines through from above in the center; flowers and plants surround the restaurant; and the service is characteristic of a family owned establishment.
Now for the food---the Mr. ordered Chicken Fried Steak--that came with hash browns, Biscuits and Gravy and I think a few other things (there was a ton of food). I ordered the waffle, 2 eggs, and turkey patty. Everything we ordered was down right good breakfast food. Everything came out to be over $20...but we had to waddle ourselves out of there.
I do want to come back and try the Peanut Butter Bacon Cheeseburger....the waitress says it's a popular one. I
My friend Matt brought us to this place awhile back.
WHAT A GEM.
Not a super obnoxious brunch place that you might expect to find in this part of orange county.
Feels homey, service is all star, prices are decent
COMBO BELGIAN WAFFLE - strawberries, walnuts, bananas (all fresh) and whipped cream if you are inclined
$6.75
good for groups especially the morning after a night out on the town
Omelette Parlor, how do I love thee, let me count the ways
1- Breakfast potatoes to die for. Just like my dad made when I was growing up.
2- Every omelette I've tried has been fantastic, some favorites
* South Coast Finest (sub swiss cheese myself)
* Ehringer's Irish Answer
* Mrs. Beecher's Delight
3- The wonderful english muffin that comes with a side of apple butter
4- The combo Belgian Waffle sans walnuts
I found this place because there was a coupon in my Entertainment Book. I loved it so much I've been coming back for the last 7 years.
If you're not there by 9 a.m. on weekends you may be waiting quite some time for a table, but it's definitely worth the wait.

The place is a little hard to find. It's hidden in the corner of a shopping plaza located shortly after you turn onto 17th street from Newport ave, next to a place called Chester something.
The service was quick, the staff friendly, and they even have a strange big statue of a clown (or something) in the waiting area.
Some direct quotes I found escaping from my mouth during my visit:
"Mmmm potatoes soooo goood."
"Chili and eggs. You can't go wrong."
"This is the kinda place I wouldn't mind coming to once a week."
"I'm so full. I'm done.
Actually wait, more potatoes.
... okay, now I'm done."

Best breakfast so far in Orange County.
The old-fashioned, atmosphere is charming.
We arrived on a Sunday at 11:30 AM and 10 minutes later the 16 year old host calls our name. My bf walks up to him and the host glances up from his clipboard and mutters "What do you want?" We ignored the host's rude behavior since we were anxious to get seated and start eating, . Our waitress, Laurie, was very friendly and it made us forget how rude the host was.
The menu offers a variety of traditional American breakfast (list of omelettes, waffles, french toast, biscuits/gravy, etc).I'm not a huge fan of breakfast, but this place has awakened a new craving for American breakfast foods.
I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, and pan fried potatoes which also came with an toasted english muffin and APPLE butter. The servings were huge, and the food was comforting and delcious.
I will definetely come back again and will introduce this place to all my friends/family.

This is my breakfast place. There isn't another place that comes close. I love breakfast food and this place always makes me happy. If I lived closer, I'd eat here every week.
The decor is unique, the food is awesome, and the people are friendly. The omelettes are big and filling and the english muffins with apple butter are delicious. The orange juice is better than any I've had at a restaurant and their coffee ain't bad either. And the "OMG" bacon. None of that thin bacon crap you get at IHOP or some other chain place. I've only ever had their omelettes (why change a good thing) but the other menu items sure do look good.
This place gets busy but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seated. On top of being fulling and absolutely delicious, it's cheap! There's no other place like this.

After 25+ years in OC, I've relocated to the Pacific Northwest and I miss eating my breakfasts at the Omelette Parlor! I don't overlook an opportunity to revisit this place when I'm in the Newport-Costa Mesa area. It's popular (therefore crowded, if your timing is poor), but my wife and I drove from Mission Viejo to eat breakfast here, and that's a recommendation in itself. The servings are more than adequately filling, and it's reasonably priced. Yes, I recommend it.

5 stars because of the atmosphere and the half-off deal (coming in before 8 am on weekdays). Omelettes are just omelettes after awhile; one can only do so much with them. There are many interesting omelettes to choose from (from kitschy names), and they give you a huge dollop of hash and an english muffin with apple butter. If you're not fat, this can last you all day. Great mom-and-pop decor. Eggs are Good!
Probably one of the places I miss the most since moving away from Orange County 4 months ago. This was a regular breakfast joint for me and the hubby for nearly 4-5 years. The breakfast items were amazing!! But I liked the other stuff too (sandwiches, burgers, appetizers). And the staff is really the most friendly you'll come across which always makes the meal so much more enjoyable. And they're very attentive. If you're running low on coffee, here comes more!! Need a sauce or a side of something...it's on it's way!!
Don't forget to grab a lollipop on the way out!
Some of my faves: OC Countryfried Steak & Eggs (omg, to die for!); the Back Bay (chicken sandwich) - their macaroni salad is yummie; Singin the Blues Burger

Calorie conscious beware; the Omelette Parlor is yummy country cookin' at its best with big portions and scrumptious food. If omelettes aren't your thing there are plenty of other reasonably priced vittles to choose from on the menu. Although the service is great, be prepared to sit a spell because there's almost always a wait. The coffee shop is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, but the breakfast crowd makes it easy to spot. Remember to grab a lollipop on the way out. Yum!
The Omelette Parlor has some of the best breakfast in town. It's a quaint little place that's great to go after a long night. It's all about their waffles here.
The drawbacks are that the wait can be bad if you're not there early enough and also, the tables are cramped as hell. I'm a big guy, I need room to stretch. If you're more than 4 people to a booth, you're asking for trouble.
This place has the best omelet I've ever eaten - it is called "South Coast Finest" it is avocado, bacon and cheddar cheese - the cheese and avocado are so well blended.
I went back for a Cheesburger in Paradise and it was another hit.
Caution: The Mocha is awful - it tasted like insect repellent.
I dragged myself out of bed at 9am telling myself that if I missed my friend's birthday breakfast it would be the end of me.
Little did I know i'd be dragging myself out of bed at 9am for years to come- just to beat the rush at Omelette Parlor and gorge myself on their delicious omelettes and belgian waffles.
The belgian waffles (I prefer banana sans walnuts) are to die for, and the omelettes come with a heaping serving of fried potatoes, fresh fruit, and a toasty english muffin with apple butter. Absolutely scrumptious.
The service is friendly (and FAST) and the decor inside the restaurant is a nice surprise- who'd have thought that this dark, tree-veiled storefront tucked away in the corner of a run-down square would open up into a brightly-lit maze of cute little booths adorned with a vase of fresh daisies apiece??
The enormous skylight in the middle of the restaurant never fails to ease me out of my early-morning stupor.
Definitely absolutely worth the trip!
Cute little place, great service, great cheap food! What more can I ask for? We (two people) went on a Saturday at 11AM and we just needed to wait for ten minutes. So it wasnt that bad.
The Omelette Parlor is a place we would frequent often after a night of heavy intoxication. I can comment without hesitation that this is a local favorite amongst barflys, social drinkers and families alike as it's always packed on the weekends...tables boasting young, tattooed hipsters and in the next booth - mom, dad, gramps, and the kids.
I always order the Ehringer's Irish Answer, an omelette stuffed with potatoes, bacon, and cheese, topped with sour cream and chives and served with a generous portion of potatoes, fruit garnish (usually an orange slice) and nut grain muffin with a side of apple butter. The Omelette Parlor also makes a pretty good Bloody Mary, if in the mood, or if not the coffee is good and the OJ is fresh squeezed.
Several people have marked it as not having booze... so maybe it has changed since I've last been, but I have had a Bloody Mary a'plenty here and they did serve beer, as well...
Highly recommended for fellow breakfast Yelpers!

Love this place. Great little secret of costa mesa. We use to come here after our rowing races and practices. A good place, after a hard night of drinking. Everyone knows, so the servers drop a a pitcher of water at your table. Get the south coast finest. Get the peanut butter burger, and make sure you eat all the fresh fruit. Don't forget to tip.
Great place for breakfast. Living in Irvine it beats going to a chain like IHOP or Denny's. I've been here twice. First time had an omelette, Second time had the french toast. There were both tasty. There might be a wait on the weekends. Oh and one thing I don't like is there's no refills for orange juice and it's a small glass for $2.25 or something. Ah well. Can't win them all I guess.

"Chester Drawers" is not only fun to say, but their food and the dining experience here as a whole is quite enjoyable. Perhaps it has something to do with the people I always come here with, but I just love this place. There is ALWAYS a wait, but when you're with good company, the time flies by. They also serve complimentary coffee while you wait, which this caffeine addict appreciates. The omelettes are always loaded with goodness, and the service is always prompt and friendly. The host kid at the front is great at managing the crowd. He should work in PR.
Officially: Chester Drawer's The Omelette Parlor
Okay, with that out of the way, let's get to business. Roll out of bed in your pj's and come hungry....
Yum-O breakfast! Omelets come with a mound of potatoes, fresh fruit and english-like muffin w/apple butter sauce. I always get my "pots well" since I prefer a crispy top. I've tried almost all of them (except super meaty and huge 8 egg one) and you can't go wrong.
A sweet-tooth's paradise can be found in the combo waffle. It's topped with fresh strawberries (when in season), bananas, walnuts, syrup and whipped cream!
Enjoy the fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juice in moderation, as they charge per small glass, serving.
If you come hungover (as many do) suck down a bloody mary, grey hound or screwdriver (vodka's cheap though, but who cares, you're still drunk). Ask for a mimosa and you'll get a tall water glass of bubbly and OJ (with pulp).
Also, good lunch fare (sandwich, salad, burger) and some not-so-typical items like the Jiffy Burger (yup, slathered peanut butter on your meat)...all come with tasty curly fries.

I've been eating here quite a bit lately. Initially, I really liked it, and would have given it a 4, but I think as I eat here more and more, I like it less and less, even though there are still plenty of options on the menu I have yet to hit.
As comfort, breakfast food, it's an excellent choice, but after awhile, the myriad of choices don't really seem to distinguish themselves all that much from each other. It's like swapping out the top of your ikea desk with a different color. Congrats, it's not that different.
And the consistency is just OK. Sometimes the potatoes are great, sometimes not. Sometimes the eggs are cooked to perfection, sometimes my sunny-side-up eggs have visible uncooked streams of egg white floating around. Mmmm, mmm!
I like the homey, country feeling, though, and the friendly waitresses. The child labor is amusing, as well. And the waffles have not failed me yet. The portions are also pretty good; you definitely get your money's worth.
This cozy spot is tucked away in a mini-mall and specializes in breakfast favorites, including omelettes, pancakes and waffles.
Great food, fast service, good coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice.I love it!!!!Great place for all family at the weekend~
The short of it ~
Come for the killer breakfast grinds, stay for the trashy Sunday hangover promenade.
The long of it ~
Quirky titles head up the items on the menu which gives the Omelette Parlor its cute charm and long weekend lines. A not-so-shitty indoor Newport version of the Sugar Shack, the waitresses here are friendly and fast, and the somewhat creepy decor of dust-covered stuffed animals, plants and 50s-style egg-centric sayings painted across beams give this place it's personality. Sort of like eating at your grandmother's house, if your grandmother was a compulsive penny slot gambler in Reno and her idea of shabby chic was a frying pan centered on a lace doily.
The food is good-- just enough grease to coat your hungover stomach after a night of slumming it at Cassidy's, although if you are the egg-white-only no-carbs type, they are more than happy to accomodate any dietary needs or restrictions you may have. Apple butter accompanies the whole grain english muffins, and omelettes are stuffed huge and smothered with melted cheese. Coffee is always hot and refills come before you can say no.
Sundays crowd up FAST-- by 11am, you're facing a 45-minute wait, so come early if you can manage to find the floor and your car keys. Hoards of young partiers show up in Juicy sweats, Ed Hardy hats, and emblem-bearing sunglasses bigger than your chemistry class goggles. Hair is "done" by pulling back last night's coif into a messy ponytail, and tattoo covered girls hold Vuitton bags whilst they chainsmoke until their names are called. It's a scene-- actually, it's last night's scene, some still wearing their party tops and jeans, spouting stories of this morning's recent walk of shame ("OMG my car is still at Sharkeez!"), colliding with churchgoers and their gaggle of uniform clad children.
Checks come up cheap and you leave full. Can't beat that. Weekdays are even cheaper with a 1/2 any omelette deal with the purchase of a beverage (before 8am). Definitely a good place to fill up.

I'm a Bay Area native, so usually I'm biased toward things that are from southern california. I hate the weather, the smog, the sport teams, the people, the malls. And for all you SoCal people out there, NorCal is "HELLA" better.
Nevertheless, this is one place in SoCal that I really really liked. I was down there last year visiting a friend at UC Irvine, and he took us to this joint. Everything about this place was great. The food was great, the prices were great, the service was great, the atmosphere was great. I was down there for three days, and each morning we woke up and went to this Omelette Parlor. The first day I had biscuits and gravy which was awesome. Then I had their omelettes the next two days. It was that good that we went back every morning. I think we ruined it for my friend in Irvine. They even have a happy hour early in the morning, where everything is 1/2 off which is awesome. One more thing that I have to mention is the portions they give you. They're huge! And the prices are equivalent to a Dennys! This place is great...
With that said, even early in the morning, the traffic getting to this place was insane. I hate SoCal traffic. I wish I could airlift Omelette Parlor and bring it up to San Francisco. A place this good doesn't belong in Southern California.
One more thing, Dodgers suck

very very good! omelettes are a must here. i love the muffin and the spread that comes with it. you get what you pay for here! totally worth it. customer service is excellent.
I was very disgusted by my water cup. The first time the waitress brought me my water there was a fruit fly in the cup. Then when I asked for a new water, my SECOND cup of water had dirty ice. You could see little black particles floating in the cup. Kinda makes you think about the cleaniness of this place............

Amazingly delicious omelettes. It's too much food (especially with the heaping mound of potatoes that accompany the omelettes), but I always try my best to finish because it's just so darn good.
The servers are friendly and the kitschy decor is always entertaining. It can get crowded on weekends, though I came here on a Sunday morning at 10 a.m. and didn't have to wait to get in at all. When we left there was a line out the door so we must've gotten there right in between rush times.
Also, if you come on a weekday before 8 a.m., omelettes are half-price. Totally worth waking up early for.

Definitely better than average breakfast joint. I have not worked my way thru the whole menu, but the all the omelettes have been pretty delicious so far, eggs are fluffy n taters are good too (I order em crispy, love almost burnt taters!)--service is friendly and prompt--guess I'll hafta venture out from omelettes and try some other things on the menu.
Service as far as the servers has always been good......getting seated and paying the bill can take awhile and not quite as efficient, but I still like the restaurant a lot

One of my favorite breakfast places in Costa Mesa.
It is one of those places that are usually only known by word-of-mouth and rather hard to find, sometimes (It says "Chesters" on the window). Most excellent especially if you like omelets and plenty of choices. I haven't tried them all, but they've all been equally good, both taste and visually. The atmosphere is nice, the service is friendly, grilled potatoes are excellent, and the refillable coffee are not too hot, but just right. The setting has a nice, rural feel with horse carriage decorations. A good place to go with friends or even a date after a jog. If going in a group, you can seat up to about five people..

Thanks to all of the great reviews, the bf and I tried this place this morning. Delicious. I don't have any complaints. I spent the rest of my morning and afternoon reflecting on the delicious omelette I ordered and wondering when I would have the chance to go again. I forgot the name of my omelette but it had red onions, tomatoes, and bacon in it. They give you a wheat muffin as well as fresh fruit and grilled potatoes which were also very delicious. Omelettes can be greasy, but these were the least greasiest and fluffiest omelettes I have ever had the opportunity to taste. It was very crowded when I went, yet we were seated very quickly and our food came out even faster. I can't wait to come back again.
This is just a really nice place to grab breakfast or lunch for not a lot of coin. I like this place so much that I had breakfast here with friends the day of my wedding. Sit yourself and enjoy.
During the week I've never had to wait to get a table for breakfast, but on the weekends the locals come in droves. Hearty coffee and fresh OJ to help kick start your day. Tons of omelet choices and breakfast foods (most named). Try to not eat all of the grilled potatoes that come with your meal. I always have to get extra apple butter because that stuff is darned good.
There are daily lunch specials, one dish that is really inexpensive. Read the propaganda on the table to find that menu.
If you go for breakfast, Chester Drawers is usually open and you can get a fortified breakfast drink in a go cup and walk it into the Omelet Parlor. I wouldn't suggest taking your food into Chester's because after a long night it can be rather fragrant in there.
This place was overall bomb. Got in pretty quick, service was the best I've experienced as busy as they were, friendly staff, and food was great. The apple butter is killer. Affordable and yummy. Definitely would recommend it to others.
Ok, I am not a diner kinda girl, but my hubby and I are spending the holidays in Orange County for 3 weeks and there are only so many places to have breakfast. This place aka Chesters was surprisingly good. I was very very scared as this place looks run down from the outside and is in a mini strip mall kinda thing. The place is kitchy and a little wierd, but again it still good. I can't remember what my selection was called but it had the standard, eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes (yummy hash, I asked for mine with cheese) and fruit. It was good. We also ordered the biscuits and country gravy... ok, but iy was nothing special. Cheap and decent, but they really should reno or something.
no pancakes on weekends and i had egg shells in my scrambled eggs. prices are fair and the oj is the best.
Great country breakfasts. The eggs, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, toast and english muffs, chicken fried things, and french toast are always good for what ails you! Oh yeah, good omelets too!
Bottom line is that he biscuits are fluffy along with the eggs. The Potatoes (diced thick, not hashbrowns) are crisp and well seasoned. The french toast is light and sweet, not over battered, and the whole grain english muffins are awesome. Chicken fried steak is pretty good (I'm a bit of a connoisseur). Coffee flows freely and is good, nothing too fancy, but black and hot the way it should be at a place like this.
Atmosphere is casual and relaxed, service is always friendly and fast, ultimately a great place to come get your comfort food fix.
This place gets a 4 star rating from me because of the excellent combo of quality, quantity, service and atmosphere. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite breakfast joints because even my standard (3 poached eggs with tobasco, hashbrowns, fruit and wheat English muffin 4.75) is expertly handled in a way that makes it taste like the picture-perfect cozy morning advertised in Folger's commercials; even though I'm actually hungover, smelling of beer and nearly comatose from sleep deprivation.
The booths are a little small (and elevated towards the North end of the restaurant) and I'm always weirded out when I realize it's in a strip mall, but the atmosphere is made up of a country-clutter decor that comes off as quirky and charming. The waitresses are perky and attentive; excellent foils to my morning self...and the locals are friendly even when an Angelino like me sometimes tread into their territory.
Good God. They serve more than just breakfast?

Hours: 6AM-3PM
I came here early in the morning for omelette's. Turned out to be a decent breakfast joint. I wasn't really a fan of the potatoes as they looked a bit overwhelming (they give you literally a potato and a half). Their potato was also dry in some areas while soggy in others. The omelette itself was really good and HUGE. I came with a huge appetite and was stuffed by the end of the meal.
The price of breakfast is inexpensive save for the orange juice. I felt it was a little out of place paying $2.25 for 4oz of OJ to complement a huge $7 platter of food but to each their own.
