I am all about the container store has everything from gift wrap to kitchen gear. Being that I'm an organized individual (some may say borderline OCD)....this is a treat for me!!! I haven't bought too much here yet but having my very own home now, gives me every excuse to revisit this store and stock up...everyone needs to be more organized on the daily....and this is a good start...get ready for a little shopping spree when you enter, you will not leave empty handed, there is a purpose for everything in this store and the prices are reasonable!!!
STAY ORGANIZED PEOPLE...HELP ELIMINATE CLUTTER!!!

Okay, a clean store..with easy to find products.. and extremely, extremely friendly, helpful, non-harrassing employees who actually seem to care that your experience here is a GOOD one..
You might just be able to forgive the prices! Or at least wait for a sale and splurge major.
I really didn't know what to expect and looking back, I should've brought measurements instead of relying on my mind's rough guide of how big my cabinet was.. so now I have a super huge rack in the kitchen that I might have to return! Blow hard!
But on the plus side, it didn't cost as much as I thought it would.
Browse the website for a nice general idea of what you want before walking in willy-nilly.

I've been here half a dozen times and it wasn't until I was Christmas shopping last week that I realized there was a second floor. How embarassing!
I wanted to get a bunch of stocking stuffers that I'd seen in the holiday catalog but unfortunately, I waited so long that some of the items I wanted were out of stock. I did manage to get 2 ResQMe keychains (one for Michael and one for the ex), a pet travel container for Cadie, a reusable coffee sleeve for Wendy, and some odds and ends for myself.
It's remarkably easy to spend money in this place. Everything looks so useful! I'm only taking off a star because they have valet parking (boo!), even though I got rockstar parking at a meter when I went, and because their elfa stuff is priced like it's made of gold.

My OCD has a field day in this store.
I don't think I have bought anything from here yet but I find myself getting lost here. Containers, containers, everywhere containers. Big storage containers, small pencil holders, makeup containers, containers that hold containers....I like containers.
I like this store.
I think my excitement over this place needs to be stored in an excitement container.
Hell, they probably sell something like that there too!

...and on the eighth day God created The Container Store.
I love this place. I'm that guy who has a place for everything, the type whose penchant for organizing teeters on obsession, the type who can spend a couple of hours in this store every time I venture in.
I recently got a new place and discovered the closets to be anything but efficient. I called California Closets for a free consultation. The verdict was well over 3G for something I couldn't imagine would make my closets more efficient. I gave Closet World a call and based on their design requirements, the closet they designed would actually consume more space than it would provide (as well as drain my wallet). Thoroughly depressed I wandered into The Container Store to "find my center".
Although I'm sure I noticed it before, I had never really given their ELFA Closet Systems more than a passing glance. To my good fortune, a young woman by the name of Paulette was there to walk me through all the available options. Unlike my previous experiences where the design burden was on all on me, Paulette simply asked for the dimensions of my closets. Since my time was short she offered to email me a couple of mock ups once she understood what my needs were.
True to her word, I had a few configurations emailed to me later that evening along with a note offering to truly tailor the closets to my needs and budget requirements at my leisure. Paulette and I quickly became BFF.
After more than two weeks of notes and visits I was ready to take the plunge.
Once you truly realize how flexible and efficient the ELFA systems are you quickly find yourself looking for other areas of your home to install them in. Installation is SO EASY and best of all you can keep adding to it as your needs change. Pieces are cut to your specifications at no extra charge and can even be returned if you happen to forget to consider things like light switches and outlets (who forgets about obvious things like that?).
My closets now fit far more items and are aren't attempting to defy the laws of physics by having multiple items occupy the same space. I also have room to add additional shelves and bars once I finish moving in.
Best of all, I spent about 1/3 of what everyone else was quoting and gained a new BFF in the process.
I'm so happy I can hardly contain myself, and that's the Gospel truth (pun and campy language intended)!

Did you ever have to buy yourself a new wallet and get all excited about it, and when you finally get your new wallet, you realize that you have no more money to actually put in it? Yeah, that's what kind of how the container store is like but FOR YOUR LIFE.
I remember when I first went into the place (during the Holiday Season, no less), and I just went into shock. This place carries practically everything you would ever need to put anything away. And in different colors and materials, too. And if you don't own many goods, they sell cute little trinkets as well, including their pretty comprehensive travel section which sports a better selection of travel towels than the specialty travel store on Raymond.
Depending on the season, they would feature a different sort of storage strategy du jour. Tax season? Filing stuff? Holiday season? Tins, bags, wrapping paper and aforementioned stuff containers! Back to school? Oh, don't get me started. It's a place that a naturally disoragnized person like myself seeks solace in a place that has everything compartmentalized.
The only hitch being, once I spend all my money on storage materials, I'll come to realize I don't have many earthly possessions. So maybe my romance with The Container Store was never meant to be...

They have soooo much cool stuff especially for organizing (definitely 4 stars). But I just hate bad service.
Sorry but I don't like to be
a) stared at as I'm browsing through the store like I'm going to steal something and put it in my tiny Juicy bag... you swear like a container is going to fit in there... let alone a clothes hanger
b) I don't like being unacknowledged when you greet all other customers walking into the store... I'm a paying customer too!

This is the coolest store ever. Seriously. The second I walked through the doors and grabbed a cart I felt like I went into an organizational daze. WOW, they had everything. I started throwing stuff into my cart that I was convinced would make myself and my very disorganized fiance more organized. File folders, photography boxes, storage bins that fit under your bed, stackable bins for your closet, shoe racks, etc etc etc. It is a two floor organizational dream. So very fantastic.
The store is pretty reasonably priced. Some of the items were oddly expensive but for the most part the stuff was priced well. They were having a lot of great sales when I was there which made my visit even more FUN. My fabulous yelper friend Traci D. and I must have said to each other "WOW, this place is awesome" or "OHHH, I really need this" about five hundred times to each other during the course of our visit to this awesome store.
I ended up buying all sorts of cool stuff. Special linen bags specifically made for bras that I have never seen before (different from the type that they sell at Target!), tupperware that has a separate compartment in it for dip or hummus, a salad container that has a compartment for dressing, cedar blocks for our closets that make everything smell like lavender (poor paul!!!!!!!!), and a few other oddities that made me quite happy.
Awesome store, reasonably priced, and a HUGE selection of stuff. Very fun and cool place to shop!

Anyone who knows me well fully understands that I am one of the most disorganized people to walk this earth. So one might think I would turn my nose up at the Container Store, where successfully-organized people glide through organized aisles of organizing products, an OCD dream.
But, NO, my friends, NO. This place gives me hope. The Container Store makes me see a brighter future, where my clothes aren't strewn around my too-small hamper but INSIDE a new and perfect one! The electrical cords don't divide my room into unwieldy and inconvenient sections, but are tucked inside color-coordinated sleeves. All of those funny bits of paper and notes and postcards don't litter my desk, but are tacked up on a beautiful new bulletin board!
Okay, okay, this is still just a beautiful dream, but a dream I never would have had without you, Container Store. Shine on.

Heaven for neat-freaks, compulsives, or people expecting houseguests!
Some of their offerings are inspired, a few seem silly, and some are exactly the things you've been trying to find. (Hello, glass drink holders for the fridge! Hello, amazing looking shelf liners that never actually make it onto my shelves, but give me hope! Come to mama.)
My only gripe: The parking is across the street, down the block, and up an elevator. How to get big purchases home without making a spectacle of yourself, or dropping your new "storage solutions" in the middle of Union Street? (I didn't know about the valet parking, and even now, that seems overly complicated.)
Love the big elevators! They make me feel weensy.
But even though I therefore only buy small items at The Container Store, I'm glad it's there.

When this place first opened in the Bay Area, I was like "geez, a whole store dedicated to containers, LAME." But then I went in one time and got hooked.
So it was my first destination when I moved to LA. Unfortunately, I had to schlep out here from the Westside. But, the place in an organization freaks dream. 5-stars for the uniqueness of items and brands they carry.

The Container Store is my personal crack! Oh, why haven't I visited this store sooner?!
I happened upon The Container Store when I was searching for a closet system for my hall closet. The selection at Home Depot was medicore at best so I decided to check around online for good reviews of closet organization systems and found Elfa...at 30% off...oh yay!!!
The Container Store has valet parking and I knew I would be spending enough money to only pay a $2.50 fee. Note: The fee starts at $7 but goes down to $2.50 based on the dollar value of your purchases. There is also a parking structure across the street but it is $7 after 6pm.
I walked into the store and started drooling at all of the shiney items. Truely an organizer's paradise! I restrained myself from looking around until I had visited the Elfa section. True to the reviewers' word, the Elfa system is awesome. But more importantly, The Container Store's customer service is second to none. We spent over an hour with two associates to plan out our closet, maximize storage space, pick out the items, and get a demonstration of just how to install Elfa. Awesome!
I was so pleased with this experience that my friends and I are planning a day trip to Pasadena and this store is definitely on the list!

I drove by this store a few times going to my friend's house and was in need of a new container for dog food and figured it was worth checking out. It was one of several stores I stopped by to go shopping and just take my sweet time after taking my last final of the semester! WOO HOO!
Anyway, walking in, it was a freaky place, containers everywhere! If you are a neat freak and like everything in its place, then this is your store! I was going to buy a container that looked decent, but I ventured upstairs and they actually had containers for my specific need! CRAZY! It was actually cheaper than the bin downstairs and was on SALE so I was game to take the second one!
There is a good selection of things and they have thought of every knick-knack to take care of the organizationally-challenged folks out there! The staff is really nice, particularly Julie who was talkative and just very pleasant. If you read my Crate & Barrel story that occurred after this, you will know I ran into a royal pain! Anyway, Julie was awesome and nice and the products that I got were decently priced. My only complaint is the general complaint of Pasadena is that parking is a nightmare. But I was lucky as it was a quiet Monday afternoon and I got street parking that was close, but under busy hours, I KNOW it will be a pain! But a cute store with interesting gadgets. Not something I would die for, but it was interesting to check out the store and see what it's about. It did take care of my shopping needs so I can't complain. Nicely set up and great staff! Enjoy!
I think they put crack in the employees' coffee or something. The people that work in this store are abnormally nice. I had 3 employees approach me. It was, honestly, a bit overwhelming.
Great selection of products for all kinds of organization. I especially like the kitchen section on the 2nd floor. I've bought all kinds of gadgets I couldn't find anywhere else (and for a better price than Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table).

They have great products, but they can be a little pricey.
If you're obsessed with organization, this is the place to go.
Good luck with parking though (something that's really starting to bug me about Old Pasadena lately)

getting organized is apparently more expensive than a trip to target, walmart and whatever name pic-n-save goes by now. you could do it cheap, but you're liable to have to hit all three of those places, if not more. if you care about convenience, the container store is fairly simple. fully stocked with whatever you need for your house/garage/shop/office, etc, well organized, though it should be, with a quality guarantee. if it doesn't work, or it breaks - return it. it's like the nordstroms of home organization.
