I can't contain myself in the Container Store.  I swear, they hire the nicest people imaginable at this place (or give them lots and lots of speed to get them so peppy and cheerful).  This place has every box, bag, cover, holder, sorter, and storage unit ever imaginable.  Love it.

Also- FYI- great, clean bathroom toward rear of store. No purchase necessary.

Yes! YES! Yes! YES!

I can hardly CONTAIN myself....ehehheheh

Places like the Container Store make me want to become organized. Upon entering I have visions of sterile bathrooms and kitchens, color coded bedrooms and bookshelves. This excited my boyfriend, who is OCD enough to arrange my dresses based on length in the closet.

Freak.

Anyway, we all know that my intentions are good and that the organization will last all of a week, but this place helps me do it in style. You'll find everything you could ever need to store, sort, and prop. I don't see any average New Yorker that couldn't benefit from a nice trip to the Container Store. God needs we need to take advantage of every square inch of storage space we can get.

Their racks and shelves are a pretty expensive (we ended up getting one of the same quality at ikea), but everything else is pretty reasonably priced. I love you, Container Store.

I'm only allowed to go to Container Store out of absolute necessity. I'm very organized, neat and methodical and I could very well purchase half the store in one fell swoop. After leaving Bed Bath & Beyond nearly empty-handed, I found what I needed here. There were a handful of options of screw-in wall hooks vs. the two at BB&B. I also needed a clear plastic file box with snap lock and handle which I got here when BB&B had none.

Container Store is notorious for gadgets and organizational items that you don't really need. The trick is to know what items/solutions you want and don't stray.

Dont feel contained...

Been here a few times the store is nice and bright... the staff is nice...

Though sometimes you feel like you will be contained in this store it can get a bit croweded and overwhelming... if i needed something small i would come and get it here...The priceses sometimes to me seem a bit pricey....but all in all it was a nice place...

The Container Store is kind of like Costco. Spend more to get more. In this case, it's spend more to accumulate more to conceal your crap.

In the city, this type of store makes sense. Storage solutions and organization for tight spaces and cramped corners. They even have delivery fees (very cheap IMO) for the people who can't lug the super sized crap they buy. My one wish is that they deliver to Jersey City.. Sigh. We're not even too far away....

Anyhows. I've been in a few times to check out the store. It's much smaller than the ones in California but basically sells the same things from Simple Human trash cans and Elfa shelving to boxes and bubble. I love checking out the laundry bags and all the cool kitchen knick knacks but really I think you can buy a lot of the same type of stuff at Ikea. Really, $16 for a paper magazine organizer? Rip off. I did cave though. I bought a $10 wire mesh file holder. I would have found that for $6 at Ikea. Oh well. Saves me time from having to bus myself over to Elizabeth, NJ via Port Authority.

I was originally going to give The Container Store three stars but then I remembered how useful they were when I needed storage bins for work. I spent over $800 in plastic containers for the job and The Container Store always delivered on time and the bins were of good quality and in a variety of sizes. This location serves as the distribution center for online orders in NYC. They always have plenty in stock and after re-order they have enough to supply the greater Manhattan and bin hoggers like me. Yay!

WARNING: Be careful not to spend half your rent on absolutely NOTHING.  True, you may feel you are getting organized, but I personally do not like the idea of spending $40 on a box.  Sure, garment bags are a necessity for fending off Manhattan dust, and plastic roller containers that act as file cabinets under your desk are a decent purchase.  But items such as a plastic bag with a zipper do not come cheap.

Walk across the street to Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and the prices aren't any better.  In fact, I'd say you may be better off staying in the Container Store, if only to limit yourself from spending excess amounts of money on  wicker baskets, hooks, and shoe racks.

True, this place inspires you to get organized.  But it may be more economical to donate excess clothing to a Yelp clothing swap rather than storing it in overpriced plastic.

And they said they'd deliver between 8pm and 11pm, but it ended up being more like 1am!  I couldn't believe it!

Scan and Deliver, yes please. I can accept nothing less at any place, any longer. The four stars is mainly because of Scan and Deliver. I really don't care what I got or that my cheap garbage can already broke off its bag holder in one day, it is only important that they can give you a scanner and you can walk around with it, scanning whatever you want, without lifting a finger other than to make sure you shoot the bar code correctly. Then when you are done, you give them the scanner back and arrange home delivery the same day for $25 in Manhattan.

Yes, most of the stuff is cheap and most of it will likely make you more organized for a week...until you realize you have way too many under-bed containers and four shoe racks which all suck. But all of that pales in comparison to getting the stuff that you probably don't really need all that much, by Scan and Deliver.

There's not one container in The Container store that could contain my loathe for the store.  Whenever I come here, I have to bring my friend Dennis because he is the only one who knows how to control me when I'm about to go insane.

The Container Store has a whole lot of nothing inside.  Everything on the shelves hangs teasingly on the side of unaffordable and nothing is really worth the money.   It takes all of my control (and Dennis's as well) to make sure I don't stab an employees eyes out with an overpriced tie-hanger.  I think I have entered this store at least 5 times with the intention of finding things to "organize my life" and have come away empty handed pretty much every time.

I'm going to say it:  The Container Store sucks

The Container Store is filled with things you didn't even know you needed.

Case in point: I walked in recently to find storage solutions for office supplies and files. I walked out with two new bins to sort my recyclables, a pillbox, and a sweater-fuzz shaver. Some of it's on the pricier side, for sure, but I figure you're paying for some quality products to store long-term. It's stuff you shouldn't have to buy again, at least, not for a long while.

Where else are you going to get your staple-less stapler? The knickknacks by the registers, mini storage items and whatnot, are just fun to look at, too.

Sure is expensive to Contain shit.

In my apt., I have a small bedroom I don't even use. I just use it to store my crap such as my bike, skateboard, sneakers, garment rack, sports equipment, LSAT books (nice investment there genius), and magazines I never read. What am I gonna do with 40 subscriptions to Vibe?

I sleep on the living room futon because it's bigger, easier to pass out when I come home drunk, and the Xbox and PS3 is out there too. High Five! I once fell asleep and woke up with my gaming headset still on. Good one Urkel.

Anyways, so I'm inside browsing The Container Store to get an idea of how I want to organize my crap in "Da Nook". Then I'm calculating all the cool, simple, and clean pieces and prices. Hmm...Do I really wanna spend over $100 or more for Containing shit neatly? Or shall I just keep tossing my shit in Da Nook?

TOSS!!!

See ya Container Store. I'll Contain my shit when I get married. Married? Mawwied! Sheesh! She go to the church, get mawwied to oily bohunk.

You can read other reviews to rate the prices, services and merchandise... this is to discuss the WEEKEND EXPERIENCE.

If you are single with a flexible schedule - DO NOT GO HERE ON THE WEEKEND....that garment bag, plastic boxes or cork board can wait unless you like to inflict unnecessary pain onto yourself.

Between the couples who are walking through the isles trying yo change there cramped little apartments into something they saw on HGTV, the new moms, trying to find ways to hide all of little juniors crap and the college students who can only use mom & dad's credit card for "functional purchases" - it'll take you upwards of 2 hours just to get that much needed hamper.

Though they have great stuff get it any other day but the weekend. Trust me...

Must. not. shop. here. This store is where credit cards go to die. Also, you lose a tiny bit of your soul/individuality. But you will leave with bags and bags of white lacquer.....

I bought a shoe rack from here recently.  Yes, the measurements were perfect.  But I have been studiously ridding myself of Ikea junk since grad school.  And to open the box and find something made of flimsy particle board and requiring some assembly...gosh--it conjured up memories of that Swedish icon, the last vestiges of which I have been shedding from my apartment.

This is a smartly run business though.  And so long as people go through periods of wanting to get themselves "organized", this store will likely be in business--selling badly-made containers in exchange for our painfully-made money.

Most of my things are currently "piled", rather than "contained".  In order to remedy this, I stopped by the Container Store.

This store employs the most helpful people in New York, or so it seemed to this container-less novice.   There are legions of employees on hand to answer questions.   When I needed help finding something, like some plastic drawers or the men's restroom, they were more than happy to help.  When I asked if something from the kitchen container section would fit in my bedroom closet -- no one judged me.  After I'd found what I was looking for and was awkwardly carrying it all to the checkout line, an employee offered to take it up to the register and have it waiting for me when I got there.  When I knocked a display over on my way out, there was someone right behind me to say "That's okay.  I'll take care of this."  It was like I had my own, transmogrifying Container Angel looking over my shoulder at all times.

Even when I don't have containing needs, I may go back to the Container Store.  They make me feel good about myself and humanity.

This, much like stationary stores, is an addictive little paradise of kick knacks I will eventually throw away when I move, because I don't want to put them in Manhattan storage.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the bleak Nordic interior as much as the next pack-rat wanting to pack his rat in a perfectly rat shaped box, but for these prices there should be something in these boxes. Cotton candy perhaps? Shoe laces? A miniature scale model of Detroit?

All I'm saying is if you buy a lot of empty containers it'll cost you A LOT - for a whole lot of nothing.

I shopped up the Container Store yesterday. Let me tell you, I LOVE this store. But it sure does get packed during the holidays. The crowds made it a little difficult to shop, but the Container Store handled the masses extremely well!

I had a list of things I wanted, and I accomplished ALL of them. A helpful staff member [thank you, Beth (a friendly Container Store employee with blonde hair)!] helped answer my questions, and ended up checking me out at the end. Even though the store was crowded and busy, she was cheerful and she took the time out to talk to me as I checked out.

This is a great place to get wrappings and trimmings for the holidays. It is also a place where you can find gift wrapping solutions for ANY shaped present.

In addition, you'll find the Container Store to be a great place for kitchen and closet-organizers. And gadgets! And those pesky-yet-irresistible impulse buys located all over the store...

A way to organize everything in your life.  I love walking through the store and getting ideas to organize my apartment.

I don't see coupons often, but there was recently a back-to-school deal where they had coupons online.  I stocked up on kitchen organization items and felt so accomplished after I poured my flour into its new container.

If you can resist the siren's call of the Container Store, then you are a better person than I.  After a number of purchasing "incidents", I have strict rules about shopping at the Store.

1) I must have a list.
2) I must stick to that list.

It's too easy to walk in with a general idea of what you want and walk out with $500 worth of stuff that you "absolutely" "need".

This place's name isn't kidding. They've got enough containers to store your kid's teenage angst. That along with helpful employees puts together a wonderful shopping experience.  The prices aren't the best, but they won't kill you either. Though, the one question would be "Exactly what do I need all these containers for?".

Also, they've got great public restrooms.

I came here to look for a wine rack for my dad for x-mas. They had this create your own kit, which lets you build it however you like from these wooden pegs, kind of like a knex set or something. It was also made in Vermont, Which come to think it I really like cause its made here in the good ol' USA. The store had lots of containers and storage solutions, and even had a section for sports cards and memorabilia. I was a little upset that they didn't have the scissor shredder as advertised on AOL. They told me they wouldn't even be getting another shipment anytime soon according to the management. Oh well. I liked this store and should come back again if I was looking for something unique and specific.

mmmmm This place makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  Today I saw someone carrying a bag and I had to come and review on yelp to express how amazing the store is!  I've found I am not alone.

I love LOVE love to organize.  If it looks neat, cool, clutter free especially all at once I'm happy.  This store can accommodate to no end.  As others warn... do walk in with a list (a strict list!).  My favorite department is kitchen-wares.  At Christmas time they carry a nice selection of gift boxes in all sizes, tin cans for the bakers, and gift wrapping.  Plus of course storage ideas to keep everything nice nice.  Products are high quality.  The staff is supper nice and helpful.  You can browse endlessly and never feel watched.

So if you are reading this, love to organize, and like to shop for your home... watcha waitin' for!  (Just remember your list!)

I heart any place that not only lets me be as Type A as I want to be, but *caters* to that in me!  If there's an item you want to find a little home for--and I mean just about any item--this place has it.

I last came here for Christmas wrapping paper (their selection ROCKS, and for the crafty [not the sly kind;)], they have little lessons where they teach you how to do all those tricky wrapping techniques).  But, the super friendly (almost *too* friendly, hmm...) staff has helped me find:
a.  an ice cube dish
b.  storage for purses
c.  just the right way to store my rubber duck collection (no joke!)
d.  a cool looking trash can that looked Scandinavian, without looking Ikea

Any store that can accommodate those diverse needs with efficiency is great in my book.  I wish there were more locations, but I'm just lazy.  It's just below 23rd, so I can't complain *too* much;)

After going to Best Buy, it was a *relief* to walk into The Container Store. I was happy to find that the NYC Container Store isn't too different from the Store I've come to know and love in the Bay Area!

All the inventory was as it should be -- organized, accessible, purdy. To top it all off, the sales associates were *super* friendly and nice! Everywhere I turned, I was politely being asked if I needed help, the people who work there actually seem happy to work there!

Also, I learned about a service they have here that isn't as applicable in California -- delivery for $25, plus if you're ordering a lot, you can't forget about the shopping cart and just carry around a scanner that lets you scan whatever items you want to include in the delivery! I thought that was a great idea, especially since I was there to find a whole bunch o' crap for my new apartment.

I was thrilled with my experience at the store -- 5 stars!

The best thing about the Container Store is the employees.  Almost everyone I know who's been to this place raves about how wonderful the people who work here are.  They're happy to help you and really seem to enjoy their jobs.

I can't begin to count the number of stores I've been to where the employees are unhappy in their jobs and either take it out on you or barekly pay attention to anything.  And places where workers foist themselves upon you in a desperate bid to get their commission (or whatever reason) is just as annoying.  Give me the Container Store workers any day, they seem a happy lot.

As to the store itself - well laid out, lots of cool stuff.  True, many items can be found across the street or in other stores for less.  You make the choice.  I don't like the prices much, but I have found that they have some cool items no one else does.  If it fits my needs perfectly, I'll spend the money.

So I was really excited to come toThe Container Store for the first time..I had only browsed the website before and it looked exciting (and I live for organizers of any sort).

But overall, I was unimpressed with the store...there were some innovative products that looked useful, but I didn't see the need for them considering how much I'd be spending.  Maybe they have good sales?

I can't see using products from the store for a whole closet or a whole apt...maybe just for select items?  I still like Target more...hehe.

Want to shoot the breeze with smart people who love their jobs? Do what I do and chat with the people at The Container Store!

So aside from its oh-so-sexy styling, did you know that their sales people are required to do 3 hours of product training in their 1st year and 162 hours each year afterwards? (The average is 10 hours a year in the retail industry). Take that!

Additionally, employees take part in a 2x daily store "huddle" where they discuss sales goals and swap product info--including a "tip of the day" about a product. This means smarty pants get even smarter! Yup, their employees really know how to innovate on organizing stuff!

So, be a cool kid and do hang out at the Container Store.

Oh, Container Store, you are my Mecca.

I daydream about all the containing of stuff that I can accomplish as I happily wander in your container-filled emporium.  I am at once stricken with joy and the spirit of organization as I procure under-bed-storage boxes, insulated lunch boxes, tiny snack-sized boxes, and the like.   Your friendly, smiling, and knowledgeable staff overwhelm me with their friendliness, smiles, and knowledge.  I am hopelessly devoted to you, Container Store.  Never leave me.

So I have a secret............

I have, in the past, been accused of keeping my living area somewhat chaotic and disorderly. In my defense, I must say that this is true only because I have yet to purchase anything from the Container Store! Even though the numbers on their price tags are longer than they probably should be, I am nothing less than infatuated with this place.

They have EVERYTHING you could possibly need to start getting organized (and many things you may have never even heard of, but suddenly feel like you can't live without.......... for some reason after seeing the  'sock clips' and the 'sock drawer organizer' , my mehtod of sock organization seems inadequate).

My life would be SOOOOOO much easier if I purchased one of their shoe organizers.......... maybe then it wouldn't take me half an hour to find a pair of shoes.

Who want to review a big chain store? I do!  You know why? The container store rocks. First off, for a big chain store, they are known for their superior treatment of their line workers---I think they were voted #1 by Forbes Magazine or something. Also, the product availability is endless.  I don't recommend going to The Container Store without some kind of list, because you'll just get off track, and buy a bunch of really great stuff but probably forget what you needed in the first place.  The Container Store on 18th street has the fancier closet organizers but also the less expensive stuff, all of decent quality and good looking.
tip: The Container Store has some craft supplies as well as excellent card and gift wrapping materials.
