Super cheap drinks. I mean.. $2 for Blue Moon? $2 Martinis? Amazing! They have different specials each night, conveniently written on huge blackboards behind the bar. No matter what night though, there is a $2 beer and a $2 drink special. I would recommend coming a little earlier in the night if you're going on a weekend (last time I was here was 8pm on a Saturday) so you can sit down and relax before the drunken hoardes descend. Their jukebox is intimidating if you're toasty.

Great dive bar with 2$ drink specials (even Guiness!).
Actually not as squalid as one may think for a dive bar, more or less a clean place, good soundsystem, and even a flat screen TV.
Can get crowded on weekends, so it's better on a Sunday night, like tonight.

My first date with M was at Common Share. Why Common Share? Because of the cheap drinks and neighborhood feel. M wanted to go to Soussi, which we did, but not until I had bought her several rounds of drinks for less than fifteen dollars.
The first thing one notices about this place is the drink prices, which they paint on the window glass, used car style. "Howard U. Homecoming Special: $2 Sierra Nevada," it said, my first time walking by. I have a weakness for fine ales, and this is one bar where I can afford them.
The night of my date, the music was so loud that I had to whisper into M's ear, which I can't complain about. She was drinking $3 Blue Moon drafts and admiring the weird Halloween decorations. The bartender was eating chicken wings out of a carry-out box and watching football highlights. "Our bartenders work for tips!" said the paper taped to the beer cooler, and believe me, if I had more money to spend I would have tipped that fellow good.

i thought i've been in some shite spots, but wow. place was a bit ghetto, but come on how do you not have Wu-Tang on the jukebox. How does a ghetto spot have a jukebox in the first place? Drinks were aight!
I left very unimpressed, but drunk none the less. They should be commended on that achievement i guess.

This is where the cheap beer is but is it worth it when the you can't even get to the bar through the crowd? There is upstairs which is bare and blah. The nastiest bathrooms in town.

Overall, this place is OK. It seems to be a big hangout for the George Washington University crowd. It's a dive bar, yes, but I like my dives sparsely populated. The Common Share can get really crowded, almost defeating the purpose of coming to a dive bar, at least for me. I go to them to get away from the cheesy dance tracks and slippery men. Hm. There are other places in Adams Morgan that are better-suited to my personal tastes and needs. But I will give Common Share props for having cheap booze, which is always deserving of appreciation in my book.

This is the first review I've actually felt compelled to write for Yelp to back up one of my favorite DC pubs. The cheap pints and funky location mean that you'll find a mix of bike messengers, teachers, NGO workers and other interesting wonky types here. I spent many Thursday nights lounging around with friends upstairs launching harebrained revolutionary plans. The last time I was there, we ran into an old friend who updated us on her latest gig keeping track of global weapons proliferation. Gotta love DC.
I had a three-month Wednesday tradition of going here with my friends just after we all graduated and had jobs because of their $2 Guinness/pretty much anything else.
That ended, though, because it's so damn loud and there are SO many people there.
Would be completely awesome if not for those two facts, but they annoy me enough that even the good, cheap liquor can't make me go back.

As a 6 year veteran of Common Share I feel compelled to give this bar 5 stars. I've been with this bar through inflation, September 11th, rising and falling gas prices, hurricanes/tropical storms...etc. I'd say there are a grand total of two main reasons to visit the Common Share. Reason #1, to get trashed and get beer goggles. Reason #2, to use those acquired beer goggles for...well, you know. My friends and I have been going there for years and always have fun...except for the few times I was "escorted" out. The drinks are cheap and strong and the music is good as long as there isn't a loser on the jukebox. If the Common Share is in your plans, please include a designated driver.

Low profile, but a tad more than a hole in the wall, this is a slightly ghetto bar (relative to the neighborhood) that nonetheless is quite serviceable, with attentive staff, $2 special drinks (strong, too) on many nights, and on Sun thru Wed they even serve free dinner buffet, which was beef lasagna and fettucine alfredo the night I was there. Great bargain! I don't know how they do it, really. A couple of tvs, reggae and hip hop tunes. You probably won't meet anyone you want to take home to mom, but I'd go back.

Ah yes, I remember Common Share back in my college days. Yes, it is a true dive bar in Adams Morgan and I had many a fun nights there. Even the owner will drink and get merry with you. You definitely don't come here to be seen, you come here to enjoy the cheap drink specials and to get rowdy. Yes, the typical meat head crowd patronize this place, what did expect? It's still Adams Morgan. I know I know....dive bars aren't meant to be overly crowded but I meant dive bar in appearance only. If you're looking to drink and drinking is your only objective then come to Common Share....there's a common objective of drinking alot when you come to Common Share.

Granted, I was here in 2001 visiting some friends from college, but I remember drinking $2 pints all night & then going down the street & eating a slice of pizza bigger than my head.
What a beautiful night.
Went here when in D.C. for a few days with my buddy G.W. (no not that one) - anyway, good prices, nice atmosphere, nothing remarkable - but that's good too.
cheap beer. get it? 2 dollar specials EVERY day....good beer too...and thats all you need to know....
