We were passing by Middletown when my wife said she was hungry, so I pulled up Yelp on my iPhone. The unusual name caught my eye and so did the good reviews.
The owner is exceptionally friendly, taking the time to ask our names and ask a little about us. The menu was very limited but had plenty to choose from. She had the new york strip steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I had the shrimp salad.
First we were served with, what I assume, were home made dinner rolls, which were delicious. The entree came next. My salad was ok. Her steak looked and tasted (yes, I wound up eating half because she couldn't eat it all, or more accurately I think she was saving room for desert) delicious. After the meal, she ordered the home made ice cream/brownie sundae. Yes, I had a few bites of this too, and it was heaven.
The ambiance and atmosphere was romantic and pretty awesome. They have an outside front porch and a beautiful back garden with seating, which I only found out about after we were done.
Total bill with entrees, desert, 3 glasses of wine and tip = $74. -

In desperation due to the long lines at the Irish Isle across the street and the fact that they are always out of everything at around 8pm, we decided to take a risk and try this little place. We were very glad we did...
We took a seat on the cozy front porch. Perfect setting being that it was a warm spring night and well lit with little white twinkle lights.
The owner greeted us and offered a limited but decidedly excellent choice of appetizers and entrees. We chose the Thai Wraps which were served on a bed of lettuce which you wrapped around seasoned chicken, rice noodles, peanuts, and a choice of 3 sauces. Very unexpected and very tasty.
We split an entree, the Raspberry Chipotle Chicken. Excellent.
For dessert, there were several sinful choices, but they always offer a homemade ice cream of some sort. That night it was peanut butter. Wonderful.
This place was a serendipitous surprise. We will definitely be back. -

A delightful little find in Middletown, Virginia. Everything about this restaurant says "cozy." The owner is possibly the nicest man on the planet, the food was outstanding, desert was heavenly and there was even a harpist to accompany us. While the dining "room" was a little cramped, that only added to the atmosphere.
We got chicken pot pie with salad, butter spaghetti, and the pulled pork sandwich. And of course for desert a wonderful pie who's name I can't remember, and the brownie sundae (which was to die for).
The building itself is made from an ancient log cabin with exposed beams and what looked like the original mortar.
I advise you to make this a regular destination.
