Citrus Club is by far the best eating option in the Upper Haight (outside of Club Deluxe on pizza nights and the Thai place which shares the same street). Whenever friends ask where to eat in the area - I never hesitate to recommend The Citrus Club. My mom and I, when she came to visit ,spent many a beautiful bonding moment here. I'd always get the soba noodles in garlic sauce with salmon - and my mom would order a tofu bowl. We'd share a pot of sweet ginger tea - and just talk...until dusk would start to set in.

Memories are so much more precious when good food is involved.

    Trust.

    Yes to the Citrus Club!

Make sure to start with the garlic edamame. Also advised is the Mandarin style chow mein.

All in all you can't really go wrong here. The food is good and entrees tend to range from  $5-10, WIN! Drinks are also inexpensive ;)

Ok, sorry, but this place is really gross.

Had I read the reviews first, I wouldn't have stopped in, but a friend suggested we meet for dinner and I was in town visiting so I agreed. The line was out the door and the place was packed so we waited about 20 mins for a table. I asked the waiter what was better: the Thai coconut milk soup or the chicken pho and almost before I finished the sentence he said the chicken pho. The bowl that arrived at the table was pretty impressive but unfortunately the smell preceeded it. I'm a big pho fan; I know that if you get meat in it it's usually sliced thin enough so the soup can cook it. But, I'm pretty sure that someone had dumped strips of raw chicken in my soup. This things smelled BAD. All I could smell was raw chicken and it was really hard to remotely enjoy the soup because of it. The broth was pretty bland even though I used up all the basil, lemon, and little jar of hoisin on the table, and was also pretty oily. The one thing they did get right were the noodles. Surprisingly, they were just about the best I've had! When the bill came I reluctantly handed over my $8.95 (sad because I'm used to paying $6 for GOOD pho), but was cheered by the fact that I never have to come here again.

It's good for Asian fusion, which is an all time favorite of mine, but it doesn't necessarily knock my socks off. The best thing I like about their menu is their drink list. Their sake margarita was super yum, but their papaya salad was not done right which was a disappointment. I really try to like this place but each time I keep craving more flavor. But for most, I think this place will not disappoint, I'm just a flavor junkie.

Yummmm I am in love with this restaurant.  I wish I could say all their food is delicious, but I've never been able to order anything but their noodle soups since they are so good.  Oh yeah, I got the edamame once, that was pretty good.  The noodle soups come in a bowl the size of your head, and I ALWAYS have a full meal for leftovers.  They also have unique drink specials, and the food comes out very quickly.

Ah...all the memories I have of the city. This is always a must stop for me & my girls as the hot and sour veggie soup is pretty damn tasty. It's kind of a hybrid between Pho & Tum Yum & it's huge! We've tried a number of things over the years & everything else is good as well. Just went there last week & had the Edamame w/a little too much beer & sake but it started off what became our very first "Haight Pub Crawl". Good prices & good service. Oh & the Citrus Banana dessert is awesome too. Mucho Gracias to the cook who was perving on me & my friend & hooked it up for free!

I use to go here all the time (during college).  Back then, it was an awesome place with great noodle dishes at reasonable prices...there was always a line.  I don't know if the owner/chef changed but the food was pretty horrific last time we went.

-Spicy Curry Tiger Shrimp-the noodles clumped together and was pretty bland.  I think we only had four forced bites
-Thai Coconut Tofu Noodle Soup -This was the dish I always ordered!  Huge bowl of yummy soup but this time the soup and veggies had a film of oil

What happen Citrus Club!?  More importantly, revisit your old recipes.

I can't think of one negative to this place.

    Noodles? Amazing.
Garlic Edamame which is the best I've EVER HAD? Check.
Eat in or order take out? Both
    Takes credit cards? Yep.
Walking distance from my house? Mmm hmm.
    Cheap? Like under $10 cheap.

Come here and get the Marmalade Coconut/Leomongrass shrimp. $9.95. Worth every penny.

Some nights you don't want to be fancy. You don't want to wait in line with all the pretty, gaunt, un-showered SF folk. You don't want to see another menu of small plates, or 'family style' grub, or molecular works of edible art. You just want a big bowl of noodles all to yourself, dammit!

On these nights, you should take your cheap, greedy, noodle-craving bum to the Citrus Club. You absolutely can't go wrong.

It's a small place, and gets easily packed. But trust me...stick around, the tables turn fast, and the saucy dishes are worth the wait. On this particular Thursday they happily let us snag seats at the bar, without any bureaucratic chastisement from a hostess. First come, first-served; the way God intended. I like this place already!

We debated over the long, luscious menu of noodle stuffs - all incredibly well-priced, with appetizers from $5-8 and mains from $8-13. And look at those plates! Someone is taking home leftovers, that's for sure. I ordered the Zaru Soba appetizer (buckwheat noodles, seaweed, fresh tofu and wasabi), a generous mound that could have been my meal. But I can never resist those Vietnamese spring rolls and the delish allergy-inducing peanut sauce (yes, I'm officially allergic, but not ready to quit). The spring rolls were sliced up into 6 shareable pieces, and the sauce was thick and spicy, just the way mama likes it. I also tasted Jojo's coconut curry noodles: creamy, carby, spice-a-liciousness, with plenty for lunch the next day.

Service was impressively prompt considering how packed they were, and the dude behind the bar was sweet enough to 1) plug in my friend's cell phone to let it charge while we ate, and 2) run out into the street with her credit card, which she'd dropped on the floor after we paid. Double unnecessary-niceness points!

I officially heart this place. I sure hope they don't raise their prices to match their popularity. Either way, I'll be dreaming of my next noodle binge.

    Situation
    - Getting food at the bar at 3pm on Monday, Presidents Day 2012.
    - Ordered the Yellow Curry Tofu and Nuts.

    Pros
    - Excellent service at the bar
    - The interior was nice
    - They take credit cards
    - Large portion size
    - You can see the cooks make the food

    Cons
    - My dish was bland

    Overall
    - Perhaps only the dish I ordered is bland and the other dishes might not be, so I may have to try another dish at this place.
    - If the other dishes turn out to be as bland as the dish I ordered, then I most likely will not want to come back

I am a huge lover of Thai food. Huge. i can't get over the amazing flavors that Thai has to offer. Having said that,  I've been here once before, and it was alright. I thought I'd go back and give it another try. I ordered the Tom-Kha soup and the Vietnamese spring rolls. Usually these are some of my go-to Thai dishes. I am currently writing this sitting next to my flavorless Tom-Kha soup, and worst spring rolls I have ever eaten. i don't even want to finish it. I paid $15 for a meal that I want nothing to do with. I think I might go throw it away after I finish this review. Save yourself the time, and head to eat Thai somewhere else.

a little gem of comfort food on the otherwise blighted haight.  I was feeling sick, so went to the Citrus Club for the Hot and Sour soup - it was very very nice.  Exactly what i wanted and needed, i even asked fro extra veggies [a nice add-on if you have read my KOTN reviews].

I will surely be back when i only have a few bucks and want a healthy and savroy soup.  Thanks Citurs Club!

While working at Cal, a woman and I discussed how she and I both live in San Francisco. The Haight is not a neighborhood I've spent much time in, so I asked her for some restaurant suggestions. This is one of three places she recommended (others were Magnolia & Cha Cha Cha).

Being the adventuresome people we are, the boyfriend and I decided to venture out of our comfort zone and explore the Haight Ashbury side of things. (PS: I LOVE the housing in the Haight!!!!) We discovered parking in this area blows.

Anywho, we decided to have an early dinner and ventured into the Citrus Club. As it was 5ish on Saturday night we were seated immediately. The Citrus Club is a no "frills" restaurant- the decor isn't anything special (little red strings of lights), but it's comfortable and cozy. I dug the random music they played while we were there (Chris Issak, Amy Winehouse, etc...) but the volume was a little loud. I found it difficult to hold a conversation with the boyfriend across the table from me.

I ordered the Pho-Ga (Asian Chicken Noodle Soup) which I must say is my FAVORITE soup to date that I've had in San Francisco. The next time I'm sick, I'm totally ordering this out. It was fantastic, and the portion was FABULOUS for 9 bucks. The Citrus Club is getting a 4-star review solely because this dish is awesome! (You must add the lemon, herbs, jalapenos, and bean sprouts. It just does the trick!!!!)

My boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Wonton soup and loved it. I wasn't as big as a fan, but he said he'd absolutely order it again.

The Citrus Club has won me over. I'll be back!

We had BBQ tofu spring rolls- good. Then I had a huge bowl of beef pho- very decent. Really big bowl, generous portion of noodles but it's so big because of all the broth. A little lacking in the types of beef department, but I can't turn down beef pho on a breezy day. My friend got green noodles (spinach) with coconut sauce or something and shrimp. She liked her dish a lot. Good prices, ended up being 34 with tip for 2 including drinks, appetizer, and, meals. One thing that I didn't like was their service. Very spotty. Service was unfriendly and short. My friend had to ask for a refill. They aren't attentive. Took 10 minutes to get the bill after we were done. And we'd been waiting for longer. Come here if you're not in a rush. And don't sit next to the bathroom. The main way to the restrooms has a beaded door way, so no door. Not a good place to be sitting, trust me.

They serve noodle soups not in bowls but tankards.  The food goes for quantity and price rather than quality, but on cold nights with hunger pangs it's not something you mind very much.  It was kinda odd how they serve Thai food, Viet food, Chinese food, et. al.  This place isn't so much a fusion restaurant than a restaurant that seeks to serve food from other countries where each dish.  None of the dishes were actually fused with other dishes.

I went for their tom yum.  It was enough for a family of five.

My sister, cousin and I came here while shopping on the Haight. Boy, were we glad we found this hidden gem! The entrance to it makes it look like a small, order-at-the-counter type of place, but we were greeted by a nice hostess and taken to the back part of the restaurant where there are a dozen tables you totally can't see from the front.

The menu has all sorts of Thai dishes, noodle soups and noodle dishes. Considering my love of noodles, I had no problem with this. I got the chicken curry with jasmine noodles, my sister got the Pad Thai and my cousin got the Peanut Noodles with Chicken. We also ordered the Thai Iced Tea which comes in two sizes.

My dish was very good, I have no complaints, as was my sister's. My cousin's Peanut Noodles was too peanutty though, so much peanut sauce and little chunks of peanuts t was overwhelming at times. Still delicious, but that was my only complaint.

The food was served in a timely manner, the server was very friendly, and it was all decently priced. They also had a specialty mojito drink I wanted to try, but wasn't quite in the mood for a drink at that time. It was decently priced at only $6. That's pretty awesome to me.

One of my favorite places in SF! Huge portions for cheap, great flavors. Can be a bit of a wait on crowded evenings but it's worth it. I recommend the garlic beef and shitake mushrooms and the garlic edamame for an appetizer.

Only thing on the menu I don't like is the vegan soups - vegetable broth just isn't my thing.

This is definitely a go-to spot of mine. They are consistent, cheap and their food makes my mouth incredibly happy.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much...but don't be deceived by the lack-luster outside of this magical land of Asian fusion.

The servings are HUGE (definitely sharable) which is a good thing because you will want to try everything on the menu.

I highly recommend starting with the garlic edamame. From there...well, it becomes a "choose your own adventure" type of situation. My personal favorites are the lo-mein noodles, the spicy lime and coconut soba noodles and the vegetarian coconut tofu and noodle soup...but everything is so flavorful and wonderful...you really can't go wrong.

Oh the Citrus Club... you ol' dog, you.

Like an old friend, the menu at Citrus Club has not changed since the heady days of the late 90's when it first opened.

Had the Lemon Coconut Chicken noodles and the folks at the table ordered the curry Tom Na soup. As expected, massive portions. Everyone left satisfied.

Let's be honest, it is not the best bowl of noodles in the City, but Citrus Club adds enough ambience, location, and good drinks to make it a worthwhile visit.

This place makes me really sad. I tried three bowls of noodles, and I liked NONE of them. Jackpot!

I was kinda excited coming in. Nice decor at the entrance, and pretty good service too. Plus, I love Asian fusion... menu looks interesting.

I ordered the hot and sour noodle soup aka Tom Yum, because people speak Thai in there~ So I thought maybe they do thai food well. Friends also ordered beef with shitake mushroom noodle, and chicken noodle soup.

SO SALTY! I hate to give bad reviews, but it's worse than instant noodle. I am so sad. Plus, there's no effort in plating. My bowl has a big chunk of noodle with some slices of carrot, broccoli all over~ it just doesn't look appetizing, at all. The broth is not thick enough. It's the same thing with my friend's chicken noodle soup. Beef with shitake looks better, but it's way too sweet on the first bite~ and second bite is full of salt.

Well at least, they have a good selection on drinks.

Citrus Club was the first restaurant I ate at when movie to the City. I came here to meet a friend my first weekend in the City and was blown away by the food, and the price as well.

since then, I have flourished from baby foodie to full blown foodie, but yet Citrus Club still remains a comfort that I turn to when I was something good and filling. I bring out of town friends and family here, I've brought dates here. It's just such good food for reasonable prices. Usually I get move between the Tom Kah or the Pad Thai. Both are really really rich and served with heaping portions.

Still one of my favorite places in the City and usually. I usually have them split the portions in two and I take that other portion and give it to some street kids who could  use some Tom Kah or Pad Thai.

I've moved from TenderNob AKA Little Saigon to Cole Valley. The accessibility to awesome cheap Asian fare is no longer within walking distance. I should have thought about this one earlier.

I don't care what people say, this place isn't all that. I understand it's Pan Asian. Maybe I should stop trying Pan Asian food, because I'm Asian and shit.. I just like it how it is supposed to be.

The food is flavorless. No, I take that back. The food is either really over the top or it is on a single flat note. It's like saying the guy you had a date with last week was really nice. Nice, but not interesting enough for a second date. Every time someone suggests coming here, I cringe, but think, "hey I must be picking the one bad thing from the menu." So I've given this restaurant a few too many tries throughout the years... but I'm thru pretending.. Citrus Club and I have been through a string of should of's, could of's, and we're now finally breaking up.

I've been here at least 3 times.  Although conceptually I want to love this place, the quality of the food is just not great.

After reading lots of Yelp praise, on my latest visit I tried the Hot and Sour Soup.  Yes, it was flavorful, but it was SO SALTY.  I literally felt like I was desiccating at the table. Also tried the Grilled Shrimp and Scallops on Garlic Noodles, which were generally lacking in flavor.

To their credit, on previous visits I tried the Garlic Beef & Shitake Mushrooms and the Tom Ka-Thai Coconut Tofu Soup, both of which were much more flavorful (and less salty).  I suppose it's kind of a hit or miss type place.  They do make a FANTASTIC Pomegranite Martini though!

Citrus Club has been a favorite of mine for about three years and counting! It is my go-to for comfort food, especially as the weather starts to get damp and cold.

    THE GOOD STUFF!
    I can"t say I've ordered anything here that I didn't enjoy.
-I usually go for the peanut noodles with chicken or the garlic beef noodles dish substituted with egg noodles.
-The Pho soups are fabulous and the portions are always more than expected. -Make sure you get the garlic edamame for an appetizer. It will rock your world if you love garlic as much as I do.
-The space is warm and cozy with cute decorations and a totally comfortable vibe.
-The staff is always friendly and efficient

    THE NOT-SO-GOOD STUFFS
It can get real busy, not that this is a bad thing. I'd like them to stay open.
-Just avoid the dinner rush and do take out or try to snag a bar spot.
-If your coming with a hoard of people I'd advise against it, the restaurant is fairly cramped. What makes it one of my favorite things also becomes its downfall as it becomes more busy.

Overall, I'll expect to continue to get my noodle on here in the future as long as this establishments continues to represent Haight St.

I really wished I liked this place since I live very close by.
I tried Citrus Club twice before giving up and giving in to the definitive "meh".
    The lowlights:
-Exceeding loud in this club. You can forget talking to anyone you brought with you.
-The usual standard thai dishes are not standard, but not in a good way. Dishes like pad thai, satay, tom yum soup, etc. taste really odd and have weird ingredients and/or texture for the dish. (For example, the peanut sauce for the satay is as thick and chunky as peanut butter. Why is unclear.)
-Soups are served in bowls the size of your head. Possibly larger. I would prefer less with more quality.
    -Noodles are really overcooked.
    The highlights:
-It's open later than most restaurants on Haight St.
-They serve beer, wine and a few kinds of cocktails.

Whenever my girlfriend and I are going to the Haight we always make it a point to eat lunch here. LOVE their shrimp spring rolls with the sauce. I wish the sold the sauce by the jar. LOVE their noodles and soups too. Both of which are served in a bowl the size of a car tire. You will definitely get your fill even if you just have soup.

The staff is extremely nice and on point with drink refills and service. The prices are reasonable (about $30 for two people with drinks and an appetizer).  The only problem I have here is trying new dishes because my favorites are so good already.  Even though I'm never dissapointed with the food. Today I tried the coconut cream won ton soup for the first time. It's probably the best won ton soup I've ever had.

Highly recommend trying out the Citrus Club.

I started coming here with my sister who recommended this place to me a couple years ago.  Every time I go, I love it.

Its huge portions, clean, healthy, delightful and incredibly flavorful!  They have a bunch of options and each dish is done incredibly well.

The soups are the cures for hangovers - its the answer.  But anytime you are feeling like a great healthy meal to warm you up, here is the place.

And also whats nice about this Asian restaurant is that they are friendly!!!!!

My sister was raving about this place so she brought me on over to eat there. I was craving something tangy so I ordered the House Pad Thai. Adding on meat would be an extra $2 so I didn't bother. My sister ordered the Shanghai noodles

I should've known that eating in such a dark place wouldn't make food taste too good. I mean, it's SO DARK IN THERE. Maybe it's cause the lightbulb right above our table was out. -_-

My noodles came out kind of white and pale; it almost looked creamy! I never knew pad thai was supposed to look like that, i mean sticky sure, not creamy. I ate some and it completely lacked that tangy flavor i was looking for. It almost tasted like there was mayonnaise in it! Wth. The noodles also weren't sticky anymore..:\ it was just kind of soggy and fall apart-like. at one point, i swapped with my sister because she said her noodles was too gravy-like. I took a bite and the noodles were also very soggy....and there WAS a lot of gravy.

Everything was also really, really bland. There was now PUNCH to it like I expected. Didn't like it...not worth $9 of my life, honestly. ): Won't go back anytime soon.

Asian noodle lovers paradise!  Or hell, possibly, if you're bad at making choices.  Basically, every Asian noodle you could want - tom yum noodle soup, pho, pad thai, pad see ewe, chow fun...ASIAN NOODLE FEAST!

Furthermore, some of the portions are HUGE!  The noodle soup bowls are comically large and I actually had some pan-fried noodles left over which was a combo of large potions and my attempt to hide my inner fattiness amongst my company.  :)  It was a little hard to find, but definitely a good dinner option in the Haight.

Citrus Club is a great mainstay of the Upper Haight. The service is a little spotty, but the affordable, tasty noodle bowls sure make up for it. I appreciate the array of vegetarian and vegan items. Faves include the cold soba noodles, the bbq tofu spring rolls, the tom ka with tofu (it's spicy!), and the sweet citrus glazed greens and noodles.

I wasn't disappointed with this place but I wasn't blown away either. The location was good, right in the heart of the Haight, which is nice if you're into the hippie thing I guess...I'm more of a fan of Berkeley but anyway...

Thai Iced tea was scrumptious and I enjoyed my wonderfully saucy Pad Thai (which was more of an approximation of the pad thai I'm used to...), but I guess it just wasn't what I was expecting when I ordered Pad Thai. I never thought I would say this but I guess there was too much sauce...extra points for using huge chunks of tofu though. Nom.

But anyway, service was good, and if indeed all you want is some saucy noodles with some condiments, then this is your place.

Purrrrfect! It's getting to be that time of year again in the Bay Area. The days are cold, and windy, the rain falls in a constant mist - soaking everything. But we have one of the coolest parks out there, Golden Gate park. So what's a girl to do when she's been playing out in the park, in the rain and wants to warm up? Head to The Citrus Club! Conveniently located in the far western part of the Haight, the range of hot hearty Asian inspired soups warm you all the way down to the bones. Do I need to say more?...your bones, they get toasty, it tastes great and you'll forget you have soaking wet feet.

Oh and get a Thai iced tea too. Goes great with a spicy soup.
