One of my favorite places in SF! Huge portions for cheap, great flavors. Can be a bit of a wait on crowded evenings but it's worth it. I recommend the garlic beef and shitake mushrooms and the garlic edamame for an appetizer.
Only thing on the menu I don't like is the vegan soups - vegetable broth just isn't my thing. -

This is definitely a go-to spot of mine. They are consistent, cheap and their food makes my mouth incredibly happy.
From the outside, it doesn't look like much...but don't be deceived by the lack-luster outside of this magical land of Asian fusion.
The servings are HUGE (definitely sharable) which is a good thing because you will want to try everything on the menu.
I highly recommend starting with the garlic edamame. From there...well, it becomes a "choose your own adventure" type of situation. My personal favorites are the lo-mein noodles, the spicy lime and coconut soba noodles and the vegetarian coconut tofu and noodle soup...but everything is so flavorful and wonderful...you really can't go wrong. -

While working at Cal, a woman and I discussed how she and I both live in San Francisco. The Haight is not a neighborhood I've spent much time in, so I asked her for some restaurant suggestions. This is one of three places she recommended (others were Magnolia & Cha Cha Cha).
Being the adventuresome people we are, the boyfriend and I decided to venture out of our comfort zone and explore the Haight Ashbury side of things. (PS: I LOVE the housing in the Haight!!!!) We discovered parking in this area blows.
Anywho, we decided to have an early dinner and ventured into the Citrus Club. As it was 5ish on Saturday night we were seated immediately. The Citrus Club is a no "frills" restaurant- the decor isn't anything special (little red strings of lights), but it's comfortable and cozy. I dug the random music they played while we were there (Chris Issak, Amy Winehouse, etc...) but the volume was a little loud. I found it difficult to hold a conversation with the boyfriend across the table from me.
I ordered the Pho-Ga (Asian Chicken Noodle Soup) which I must say is my FAVORITE soup to date that I've had in San Francisco. The next time I'm sick, I'm totally ordering this out. It was fantastic, and the portion was FABULOUS for 9 bucks. The Citrus Club is getting a 4-star review solely because this dish is awesome! (You must add the lemon, herbs, jalapenos, and bean sprouts. It just does the trick!!!!)
My boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Wonton soup and loved it. I wasn't as big as a fan, but he said he'd absolutely order it again.
The Citrus Club has won me over. I'll be back! -

Maybe ive been accustomed to Asian flavors so i wouldnt say that this place is THAT good. I tried the pho chicken noodle soup and honestly ive had better pho than this place. The broth is okay, but not super great. But i gotta give credit to the portion and service for this place. They give my food within just 3 minutes! Thats hella fast for an order, the service is nice and efficient. I dont mind coming here again if im in the area but i certainly wont come here again just for the taste of the food. Given that the type of restaurant is "Asian Fusion", Id say that the taste is already accustomed to more of the Western taste than the Asian taste. So, to sum up, the place is pretty decent(for the service and portion) but the taste of the food is just okay.

We started with the green papaya salad since it's on the specialty section. No flavor SAD! :(
We ordered Spicy Tiger Shrimp $11.50 again no flavor I guess they need to call it "non-spicy cat"
Shanghai noodles has flavor and very tasty.
A ok, but please add spicy and more flavor!!!! -

My sister, cousin and I came here while shopping on the Haight. Boy, were we glad we found this hidden gem! The entrance to it makes it look like a small, order-at-the-counter type of place, but we were greeted by a nice hostess and taken to the back part of the restaurant where there are a dozen tables you totally can't see from the front.
The menu has all sorts of Thai dishes, noodle soups and noodle dishes. Considering my love of noodles, I had no problem with this. I got the chicken curry with jasmine noodles, my sister got the Pad Thai and my cousin got the Peanut Noodles with Chicken. We also ordered the Thai Iced Tea which comes in two sizes.
My dish was very good, I have no complaints, as was my sister's. My cousin's Peanut Noodles was too peanutty though, so much peanut sauce and little chunks of peanuts t was overwhelming at times. Still delicious, but that was my only complaint.
The food was served in a timely manner, the server was very friendly, and it was all decently priced. They also had a specialty mojito drink I wanted to try, but wasn't quite in the mood for a drink at that time. It was decently priced at only $6. That's pretty awesome to me. -

Oh the Citrus Club... you ol' dog, you.
Like an old friend, the menu at Citrus Club has not changed since the heady days of the late 90's when it first opened.
Had the Lemon Coconut Chicken noodles and the folks at the table ordered the curry Tom Na soup. As expected, massive portions. Everyone left satisfied.
Let's be honest, it is not the best bowl of noodles in the City, but Citrus Club adds enough ambience, location, and good drinks to make it a worthwhile visit.
3 star food, with a 4 star experience. I love that place! -

They serve noodle soups not in bowls but tankards. The food goes for quantity and price rather than quality, but on cold nights with hunger pangs it's not something you mind very much. It was kinda odd how they serve Thai food, Viet food, Chinese food, et. al. This place isn't so much a fusion restaurant than a restaurant that seeks to serve food from other countries where each dish. None of the dishes were actually fused with other dishes.
I went for their tom yum. It was enough for a family of five. -

Whenever my girlfriend and I are going to the Haight we always make it a point to eat lunch here. LOVE their shrimp spring rolls with the sauce. I wish the sold the sauce by the jar. LOVE their noodles and soups too. Both of which are served in a bowl the size of a car tire. You will definitely get your fill even if you just have soup.
The staff is extremely nice and on point with drink refills and service. The prices are reasonable (about $30 for two people with drinks and an appetizer). The only problem I have here is trying new dishes because my favorites are so good already. Even though I'm never dissapointed with the food. Today I tried the coconut cream won ton soup for the first time. It's probably the best won ton soup I've ever had.
Highly recommend trying out the Citrus Club. -

This place makes me really sad. I tried three bowls of noodles, and I liked NONE of them. Jackpot!
I was kinda excited coming in. Nice decor at the entrance, and pretty good service too. Plus, I love Asian fusion... menu looks interesting.
I ordered the hot and sour noodle soup aka Tom Yum, because people speak Thai in there~ So I thought maybe they do thai food well. Friends also ordered beef with shitake mushroom noodle, and chicken noodle soup.
SO SALTY! I hate to give bad reviews, but it's worse than instant noodle. I am so sad. Plus, there's no effort in plating. My bowl has a big chunk of noodle with some slices of carrot, broccoli all over~ it just doesn't look appetizing, at all. The broth is not thick enough. It's the same thing with my friend's chicken noodle soup. Beef with shitake looks better, but it's way too sweet on the first bite~ and second bite is full of salt.
Well at least, they have a good selection on drinks. -

My sister was raving about this place so she brought me on over to eat there. I was craving something tangy so I ordered the House Pad Thai. Adding on meat would be an extra $2 so I didn't bother. My sister ordered the Shanghai noodles
I should've known that eating in such a dark place wouldn't make food taste too good. I mean, it's SO DARK IN THERE. Maybe it's cause the lightbulb right above our table was out. -_-
My noodles came out kind of white and pale; it almost looked creamy! I never knew pad thai was supposed to look like that, i mean sticky sure, not creamy. I ate some and it completely lacked that tangy flavor i was looking for. It almost tasted like there was mayonnaise in it! Wth. The noodles also weren't sticky anymore..:\ it was just kind of soggy and fall apart-like. at one point, i swapped with my sister because she said her noodles was too gravy-like. I took a bite and the noodles were also very soggy....and there WAS a lot of gravy.
Everything was also really, really bland. There was now PUNCH to it like I expected. Didn't like it...not worth $9 of my life, honestly. ): Won't go back anytime soon. -

I really wished I liked this place since I live very close by.
I tried Citrus Club twice before giving up and giving in to the definitive "meh".
The lowlights:
-Exceeding loud in this club. You can forget talking to anyone you brought with you.
-The usual standard thai dishes are not standard, but not in a good way. Dishes like pad thai, satay, tom yum soup, etc. taste really odd and have weird ingredients and/or texture for the dish. (For example, the peanut sauce for the satay is as thick and chunky as peanut butter. Why is unclear.)
-Soups are served in bowls the size of your head. Possibly larger. I would prefer less with more quality.
-Noodles are really overcooked.
The highlights:
-It's open later than most restaurants on Haight St.
-They serve beer, wine and a few kinds of cocktails. -

Citrus Club has been a favorite of mine for about three years and counting! It is my go-to for comfort food, especially as the weather starts to get damp and cold.
THE GOOD STUFF!
I can"t say I've ordered anything here that I didn't enjoy.
-I usually go for the peanut noodles with chicken or the garlic beef noodles dish substituted with egg noodles.
-The Pho soups are fabulous and the portions are always more than expected. -Make sure you get the garlic edamame for an appetizer. It will rock your world if you love garlic as much as I do.
-The space is warm and cozy with cute decorations and a totally comfortable vibe.
-The staff is always friendly and efficient
THE NOT-SO-GOOD STUFFS
It can get real busy, not that this is a bad thing. I'd like them to stay open.
-Just avoid the dinner rush and do take out or try to snag a bar spot.
-If your coming with a hoard of people I'd advise against it, the restaurant is fairly cramped. What makes it one of my favorite things also becomes its downfall as it becomes more busy.
Overall, I'll expect to continue to get my noodle on here in the future as long as this establishments continues to represent Haight St. -

Food is good across the board, but not great. Depending on who is working and the time of day, you'll hear different types of music. Fantastic place to hangout with friends for a meal. I normally order their soups if I'm sick or hungover and they always hit the spot. 5 stars for their soups. 4 stars for everything else. Prices are decent and menu is basic and fusion. Straight from the grill is probably my favorite section aside from their soups.

The food is good but the service is embarrassing. Last night my brother and his girlfriend waited for about 10 minutes up at the bar and ordered a few food items. When we arrived and I requested that we get moved to a table, the server told us that because my brother had ordered they could not accommodate the move. I looked around and spotted about 7 free tables and re-asked. After my asking her 4 times that we would like to move to a table, she agreed and moved us to the table closest to the bathroom. My boyfriend and I ordered food and it took 30 minutes. Luckily the food was great so we ended us satisfied. I must have some bad karma here becuase when I was a broke college student 10 years ago I came here to split a bowl of $8 soup with a friend. After they sat us and ordered, they came back and told us that we would need to order another item off the menu or we would have to leave. Sadly $8 was all we had and we had to leave with heads low and belly's unhappy. I say...take your money elsewhere.

I've been here at least 3 times. Although conceptually I want to love this place, the quality of the food is just not great.
After reading lots of Yelp praise, on my latest visit I tried the Hot and Sour Soup. Yes, it was flavorful, but it was SO SALTY. I literally felt like I was desiccating at the table. Also tried the Grilled Shrimp and Scallops on Garlic Noodles, which were generally lacking in flavor.
To their credit, on previous visits I tried the Garlic Beef & Shitake Mushrooms and the Tom Ka-Thai Coconut Tofu Soup, both of which were much more flavorful (and less salty). I suppose it's kind of a hit or miss type place. They do make a FANTASTIC Pomegranite Martini though! -

I've moved from TenderNob AKA Little Saigon to Cole Valley. The accessibility to awesome cheap Asian fare is no longer within walking distance. I should have thought about this one earlier.
I don't care what people say, this place isn't all that. I understand it's Pan Asian. Maybe I should stop trying Pan Asian food, because I'm Asian and shit.. I just like it how it is supposed to be.
The food is flavorless. No, I take that back. The food is either really over the top or it is on a single flat note. It's like saying the guy you had a date with last week was really nice. Nice, but not interesting enough for a second date. Every time someone suggests coming here, I cringe, but think, "hey I must be picking the one bad thing from the menu." So I've given this restaurant a few too many tries throughout the years... but I'm thru pretending.. Citrus Club and I have been through a string of should of's, could of's, and we're now finally breaking up. -

Citrus Club was the first restaurant I ate at when movie to the City. I came here to meet a friend my first weekend in the City and was blown away by the food, and the price as well.
since then, I have flourished from baby foodie to full blown foodie, but yet Citrus Club still remains a comfort that I turn to when I was something good and filling. I bring out of town friends and family here, I've brought dates here. It's just such good food for reasonable prices. Usually I get move between the Tom Kah or the Pad Thai. Both are really really rich and served with heaping portions.
Still one of my favorite places in the City and usually. I usually have them split the portions in two and I take that other portion and give it to some street kids who could use some Tom Kah or Pad Thai.Listed in: Some of my favorite things

Wow, their Miso soup was so salty, I was glad to have a bland noodle dish to counteract it.
My friend's curry was especially bland, and my monogolian beef had no bite.
I think the chef better start tasting his food. Wonder if it was his day off on Sunday. -

Don't let the dingy exterior fool you, this is one of the best noodle houses in the city for sure. My go to is the coconut/lemongrass shrimp with jade noodles but I suspect that everything is delicious. Prices are super cheap too. Lunch with tax and tip will run you about 12 bucks.

Purrrrfect! It's getting to be that time of year again in the Bay Area. The days are cold, and windy, the rain falls in a constant mist - soaking everything. But we have one of the coolest parks out there, Golden Gate park. So what's a girl to do when she's been playing out in the park, in the rain and wants to warm up? Head to The Citrus Club! Conveniently located in the far western part of the Haight, the range of hot hearty Asian inspired soups warm you all the way down to the bones. Do I need to say more?...your bones, they get toasty, it tastes great and you'll forget you have soaking wet feet.
Oh and get a Thai iced tea too. Goes great with a spicy soup. -

I came here years ago, brought by a girlfriend at the time, and became an instant fan. It's true the there could be a little more light, I once sat at a table in the corner and basically ate by braille. However, folks are always nice there, and service is quick.
I think the key to this place is dish specific, and what I mean is there will something specific there for a person to appreciate.
I'll even tell you my secret...order the marmalade jade noodles, and ask for shitake mushrooms in it. I don't know what kind of treatment they give to the mushrooms, but the combination (that I stumbled on to) is awesome. -

I started coming here with my sister who recommended this place to me a couple years ago. Every time I go, I love it.
Its huge portions, clean, healthy, delightful and incredibly flavorful! They have a bunch of options and each dish is done incredibly well.
The soups are the cures for hangovers - its the answer. But anytime you are feeling like a great healthy meal to warm you up, here is the place.
And also whats nice about this Asian restaurant is that they are friendly!!!!! -

Like Christian N., "I don't get this place." I've eaten here 3 times. After the first time, I was disappointed with the Jade Noodle dish; the flavors were bland and the overall dish was soggy. Yuck.
Months and months later, I was invited back by a friend and I agreed, with reservations but a somewhat open mind. I wanted to like Citcus Club as much as everyone else does. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I don't know if I'm just ordering the worst dishes on the menu, or if I'm getting the worst serving in the batch.
2 weeks ago I was headed to Martin Mack's pub trivia and needed a quick bite for better performance. Enter the shrimp and vegetable spring rolls, hold the tofu please. The rolls I actually liked, as well as the peanut dipping sauce. For the quality and quantity of the appetizer, the price was steep. I can easily get the same quality rolls in inner richmond for 1/2 the price.
Sorry, Citrus Club is just not for me. -

I wasn't disappointed with this place but I wasn't blown away either. The location was good, right in the heart of the Haight, which is nice if you're into the hippie thing I guess...I'm more of a fan of Berkeley but anyway...
Thai Iced tea was scrumptious and I enjoyed my wonderfully saucy Pad Thai (which was more of an approximation of the pad thai I'm used to...), but I guess it just wasn't what I was expecting when I ordered Pad Thai. I never thought I would say this but I guess there was too much sauce...extra points for using huge chunks of tofu though. Nom.
But anyway, service was good, and if indeed all you want is some saucy noodles with some condiments, then this is your place. -

Asian noodle lovers paradise! Or hell, possibly, if you're bad at making choices. Basically, every Asian noodle you could want - tom yum noodle soup, pho, pad thai, pad see ewe, chow fun...ASIAN NOODLE FEAST!
Furthermore, some of the portions are HUGE! The noodle soup bowls are comically large and I actually had some pan-fried noodles left over which was a combo of large potions and my attempt to hide my inner fattiness amongst my company. :) It was a little hard to find, but definitely a good dinner option in the Haight. -

I have always had a great time and great food here.
One of my favorites is the Garlic Beef & Shitake Noodles.

This place is kind of small and can be pretty packed after 6. I've been hear in the past and sworn it was way better, but now i think their food has slumped down to another level.
Ordered the garlic beef and shitake mushrooms and it was a disappointment. I felt as if all the seasoning they added over powered everything. Also had the pho ga here. I might as well have ordered chicken water. -

Let me ask you this: what is the protocol on drunk dining? Furthermore, what is the protocol on drunk yelp-reviewing?
Is it.... objective? No. Ethical? Mmmm No. Approrpiate? Proooobably not. But F it. It's happening. It's happening riiiiight NOW.
This is why Citrus deserves at least 4 stars: they had to freaking deal with my group of friends. That alone, is definitely 4 star worthy. Not only did we show up, pre-liquored up from another restaurant, but we proceeded to completely fill their reservation chalk board with doodles and requests (*insert drawing of chinese dude* and "feed us now!!!"). We were very very.... very loud, drank waaay too much sake, dropped stuff, spilled drinks, stole other table's chopsticks, interrupted other people's dates and then ordered even more sake.
Our server deserves a purple heart for that stuff- AND she did it with a giant smile (and the ocasional giggle when my friend did something stupid). Thank god for you, lady.
Don't get me wrong, drunken dining is all the rage, but you still need to have damn good food. One thing to note when you come here is that this place is Thai-Japanese fusion, so don't expect to see your traditional Chang/Singha beer, red/yellow/green curries, pad siu, som tam and all other traiditional Thai dishes. You CAN expect good food though. My Pad Thai was far from traditional - they used a thinner noodle and a creamier base, and although my Thailand days make me crave the legit stuff, I have to admit that this version was absolutely amazing. It was less eggy, a little bit sweater and I could have probably eaten a gallon's worth of it.
So why the -1 star? Well, my snobby-ass self wants to go full 5 stars (its usually my standard for drunken dining, if you haven't noticed already) but the lemon & ginger chicken and Thai iced tea were pretty flavorless. Minimal complaints though. Most of the food is still rad, prices are decent and the environment is awesome for a fun dining experience.
I suggest all of you to try this place [to get/when drunk], but don't tell them I sent you... I don't want to start a bad rep in there. ;) -

Walk in, find the chalkboard, grab some chalk, write your name, and wait to be called. This is all completely unnecessary if you don't require a table. We required a table and thus, completed the aforementioned steps.
We were in the mood for food. They had food. I like noodles. They had noodles- cold noodles, hot noodles, soupy noodles, fried noodles... you get the picture. Our dinner would consist of noodles.
I ordered the coconut ginger chicken noodles, I think I was expecting too much when the result was kind of bland- all I could taste was the coconut and ginger. There was no salt at our table so I ended up pouring in the juices from our appetizer (which ended up working out quite nicely).
My dude enjoyed his hot and sour shrimp soup.
The portions are huge, the dining space small, and the price is decent for the amount of food you get. -

First, I liked the atmosphere of The Citrus Club, especially because it's so unexpectedly nice given it's location on a skeezy block in the Haight. It's too bad their food sucks.
Tofu and Seaweed Salad: Very good seaweed salad, but it waserved ringed with blocks of cold, raw, plain tofu with a dash of chili powder for color. Who does that? Pale, uncooked tofu is like the food equivalent of a dementor in Harry Potter -- it sucks the happiness out of anything nearby.
Spicy Coconut Lemon Chicken: In spite of its name, this dish delivered only bland, strung-out flavor with a hint of spice and an almost criminal lack of saltiness or any sort of richness. In fact, this item was almost weirdly bad, considering that it contained some good looking ingredients.
Pad Thai: Another strange dish that must have taken a special effort to fuck-up so badly. The poor noodles were smothered under an odd, sticky, gloppy sauce that was too thick to coat them and, instead, just sat there looking pale and yucky. It had an unpleasant washed-out rancid peanut taste and, as with the spicy coconut chicken, a studied lack of any richness or savoriness. Just bad.
Garlic Beef with Shitake: Uhm ... this was delicious! I mean, this dish was somehow really, really good,. The mushrooms were rich and flavorful, redolent of star anise, soy sauce and garlic. The beef was flavorful and tender and the chow fun noodles were perfect. Lucky for me, this was my entree. It delivered far more flavor than the sum total of everything else we ordered. -

Oh, the Citrus Club. One of my favorite cheap, hole-in-the-wallish Asian food joints, even if I have to haul myself across town to get there. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write something. Anyways, went with the BF on Saturday evening, mostly because I was tired of eating at the same Asian restaurants in Nob Hill (no offense) and I needed to leave the house (no take out please).
The pros:
- Good variety of food, from cold noodle salads to piping hot soups to grill meats
- Outrageously large portions....only come when you're hungry, stoned, drunk or are in need of several days of leftovers.
- Good range of drinks (both leaded and unleaded, if you will)
- Amazingly well priced
The cons:
- There is almost always a wait for a table, although the bar is first come, first serve
- The service ranges from overly friendly to overly surly, with little consistency
Overall:
A great bet if you're in the Haight and find yourself craving a huge portion of some sort of Asian cuisine. -
Review from Gina S.
This is the second time I've been here and its ok. I dont think its catered for an asian taste bud. A friend and I ordered the shanghai noodles with beef and mushrooms. Noodles were too overcooked, the beef was hard, the sauce was way too sweet. Plus there wasnt enough noodles! The second thing we ordered was the hot and spicy shrimp noodle soup. The soup was tasty with just enough spice and tartness. Although the bottom of the bowl had a super pungent taste of lemon grass and ginger. And once again....the noodles were over cooked!!! I also didnt think the service was that great too.

I was set on having me some Ploy II my favorite Thai place..they were closed so we ended up at Citrus Club. We got the hot and sour shrimp noodle soup and the Shanghai noodles with beef and vegetables. The food came out within 5 minutes, umm did they even cook it? ha. Well the noodles were WAY overcooked! to the point of being soggy. The Shanghai noodles were soggy and way too sweet and the beef was chewy dry and hard. The soup dish was ok, the flavors were all there but there was not enough noodles, and they were soggy overcooked noodles. I don't think I would ever come back.

Had their:
Sweet Chili-Glazed Tofu and Greens
Thai Coconut Tofu Soup
BBQ tofu spring rolls
Edamame
Yum!! Their tofu is satisfyingly rich in texture and flavor..The flavors marry all so well together amongst your palate forcing you to take another bite and another until your belly can take no more ;) Prices are very reasonable as well. Our entire meal for two only costed us roughly $32.00
Not bad..
The only thing I think I would complain about is that it's a little too dark in there for me. Great attempt to create an ambiance of romance or for hiding something they really don't want their customers to see(?)...I'd come back again in any case, maybe during the day to affirm that they really aren't trying to hide anything..Listed in: SF Eats
