Super cute shop. I always notice it when I walk past but I finally came here for some ice cream and was pleasantly surprised that they had Molly Moon's! I'm not a fan of chocolate but I sure love ice cream. The decor is adorable and they sell really cute stuff too. Service is super friendly and helpful. And the ice cream is cheaper than I expected it to be! Not sure if it's diferent pricing than regular Molly Moon shops.
If you're walking towards the market on Pine Street, you really can't miss The Chocolate Box. -

I walked in again on my 2nd trip to Seattle looking to renew my vows with a hot little chili called "habanero" immersed in chocolate. During my exploration I found a new lust...ghost "bhut jolokia" pepper & dark chocolate OMG get me hot!!!
A killer new vice with more lusty pain slathered in dark chocolate and its called "Do Not Eat This Chocolate". Made by Lillie Belle Farms in Oregon this chocolate bar has got the heat and it would get a full 5 stars if the heat came with a little more character but it definitely kicks. I had to bring up the subject with the resident sales rep and she guided me to it as she pulled it out from under the counter...quite a nice burn experience. But back to the habanero chocolate truffle...oooh yeah very smooth and with mango no less made this a real nice treat. I am not a candy lover and I went thru many Halloween as a kid and didn't keep the candy I just gave it away but as I grew more mature my taste buds reached out for the dark chocolate in a big way. I won't touch white or milk because they just can't do it the way dark does and the way I like it done! So if you are in for some exotic treats head on over and indulge a bit but do it slow and take your time enjoying all the nuances of the dark side!
Definitely pick up some of the Pistachio Cinnamon & Tequila Truffles just to balance out the chocorgasm experience before you head out. -

I'm not a huge chocolate fan. So for me to say that Chocolate Box carries one of my favorite things in the whole wide world is a big freaking deal.
TCB carries Theo chocolates, which are in Molly Moon's heavenly chocolate ice cream. Theo's also an organic, fair trade factory, so you can feel good about getting fat. TCB also has a pretty good selection of other gourmet chocolates, and, like many high-end chocolate shops, they're wrapped nicely so they make great gifts.
I picked up Theo's salted caramels with Himalayan pink sea salt, and they were dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with said salt. So, so delicious. Not overly sweet, not overly chewy, not overly sticky. Perfect, pretty much.
Downside is the price, which, unfortunately comes with the territory. Several bars, packages of caramels, and a bag of coffee for my family ran me over $70. High-end treats for someone sweet? Yeah, I guess I'm worth that splurge.Listed in: Adventures in the Rain

This was a great stop on our way back up from Pike's Place Market. We were drawn in by the peanut butter hot chocolate, but ended up getting the peanut butter mocha and a spicy chai along with a Guinness (and another chocolate) cupcake. Delightful!

There is a great variety of chocolates at this place! When you first walk in, you could already smell the sweet chocolaty aroma (not to mention) Molly Moons ice cream cones!) The vibe in this place is wonderful. Everyone is friendly and willing to offer help. The chocolates here aren't cheap but it's set a decent prices- depending on which brand you prefer. Before leaving this place, I had my vanilla bean ice cream on a waffle cone from Molly Moons.
I know, vanilla is such a simple flavor compared to my friends balsamic strawberry but I loved every lick! The dense ice cream perfectly complimented with the light waffle cone. Compared to other ice cream shops like Cold stone and Baskin Robbins, Molly Moons has less air in their ice cream and the density makes the texture completely different (in a good way). It's a little more fattening but it tastes so much better! -

Oh man, I love this place! There's always a great assortment of truffles to choose from. maple bacon, scotch (seasonal, sadly), lavender, Pike Brewing XXX Stout, ghost chili (sadly not as spicy as you'd think) ... too many to choose from! If I won the lottery, I would come here and just ask for one of each to try. NOTE: I don't believe they make any of these in-house; they're all from local chocolatiers like Theo and Fran's.
They also stock lots of different chocolate bars, chocolate-covered toffees, and .. uh, well, chocolate, duh. There's a Molly Moons ice cream bar on one side, too, so you can get your ice cream fix.
Finally, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND the hot chocolate. It's really more like liquid chocolate with some half and half added. Just get a tiny cup - it's POTENT! :-D -

I went to this place on my first trip to Seattle walking from our hotel to Pike's Market. it's in a really great location on Pine street that you can't miss if you're an obsessive chocolate fan always on the lookout for "Chocolate" signs :)
My favorite thing here is definitely the hot chocolate with marshmallows. I love that they have all these different marshmallow flavors - vanilla, peppermint, and a whole other assortment.
In terms of their tasty snacks, the red velvet and chocolate chocolate mini cupcakes are my favorite. I also LOVED the whoppie cookie (giant chocolate cookies on the outside, delicious cream on the inside).
I highly recommend this place you're looking for a nice high calorie snack lol. Which you very well may be since it's in such a prime walking spot! -

When I'm in the mood for a chocolate fix, I usually come here. I love their selection on individual chocolates, they're so decadent and artistically appealing. Though each piece can range $3-4, they are well worth it! What a lot of people don't know is that they also serve Molly Moon's ice cream here (and other tasty looking assortment of desserts). I usually stop by this location (though not an official MM shop), because it's closer and usually a lot less busy than the MM in Cap Hill.

YAY- OMG It must have been a while since I've been here- because now they have Molly Moon's! Which I think is totally genius.
I love this little chocolate/dessert shop and often come here for their cupcakes and their gelato- which now is Molly Moons - so I'll be here even more often! :)
Also they expanded and now do Chocolate sessions/ tours!
I was SUPER excited about this and the gentleman working at the counter told us to check it out- that the chocolate lesson/class was a class on how to make chocolate and a tour to theo's chocolate. He also told us that this class was only $10! I was getting ready to sign up right then and there- Until I actually looked up the class and it was $45. I knew it was too good to be true.
This was very disappointing, I would have given The Chocolate Box 5 stars- but I strongly believe that all employees of any business should be fully educated in their products and if they are not- they should confirm pricing and info before passing it on to a paying customer. -

Yes, I am definitely a fan of hot chocolate with chocolate whipping cream! Deliciously rich and satisfying. Expensive but amazingly good little cupcakes, the coconut one was crazy good! Busy place, with a few tables scattered around the shop. Lots of neat little chocolates, candies, etc. to browse and they feature a local of local northwest chocolatiers. The line to the right when you walk in the door is for ice cream only, anything else head to the register straight ahead. Enjoy.

A plethora of confectioria.
Every kind of chocolate bar you can imagine , from obscure to more mainstream upscale (Vosages) The glass encased selection is not particular fine, and the tourist trap location means unattractive pricing.
Its a nice clean place, but not on the must-stop list.
One extra star because $50 of any chocolate will get you laid. $100 will get you a new girlfriend. And $250 will get you a threesome with your new girlfriend and your wife. (as a general rule, of course) -

Didn't smell chocolately at all though.

I had a coupon for 50% off selected items. I had been here before and had a fantastic dark chocolate chai and a single chocolate that was meh. At the time I just figured I got unlucky and that overall their chocolates must be better. I went in today asked the girl at the beverage counter what the 50% off applied to. Her coworker told her it was written on a piece of paper by the register, and she read it off to me. Among other things, she said "any tea or hot chocolate beverage". Awesome!
I was going to get four chocolates and ring up everything together. I asked the guy at the chocolate counter about the maple bacon chocolate. He said that it has bacon crumbles on top (wrong. It is clearly ground pepper, and it says "sprinkled with pepper" on the card), and that customers say it has a maple taste with a bit of saltiness from the bacon, and the chocolate flavor is still powerful. Sounds interesting, so I got one. I also chose a marzipan dark chocolate, spicy cinnamon salted caramel, and marzipan fig, which I almost didn't get because the card didn't say it actually contained marzipan, just that it was rolled in almonds.
When it was time to pay, I ordered a small dark chocolate chai (you can order beverages from the chocolate counter register - who knew?) and told the guy helping me that I had a deal for 50% off of it. He told me they are not doing that. Some older woman stepped in and I showed her the coupon. She rudely informed me that that only applied to 25% off of Frans salted caramels. I told her that it must be a different deal because 25% and 50% are different and that I had just asked the girl at the beverage counter what the 50% off deal applied to and she told me my drink was included, and that she had read it off of a sheet at the register. This woman tells me - get this -"no, I wrote that down wrong. It's only 25% off of the Frans salted caramels" *points to the display*.
Right then and there I should have just told her "thanks for saving me 14 bucks" and walked out the door. I think she could tell I wasn't going to back down, because she told the guy to give me half off the beverage. So I paid and grabbed my chocolates and drink and left.
1. The chocolate chai tasted really watered down. It had milk foam so it must have had some milk in it, but if it didn't have the foam I would have sworn it was made with water. I threw it about halfway through because it just wasn't worth drinking.
2. The maple bacon tasted like old black coffee. Didn't get any bacon flavor, and definitely didn't taste anything even remotely maple-y.
3. The plain marzipan dark chocolate had grainy marzipan that tasted like absolutely nothing.
4. The spicy cinnamon was bland with a tiny bit of spice. Not bad, but not worth 3 bucks.
5. The marzipan fig was really good - this one I can highly recommend if you like marzipan and fruity flavors. The candied fig is a really unique flavor and the chocolate actually tasted like chocolate, not flavorless shell. This one was wrapped in foil in the display case, so maybe that helped it retain freshness. Also, maybe that company just makes better chocolates?
I'm losing hope in their chocolates. Maybe they're just old or something, but overall they definitely don't taste chocolatey or fresh. Also, inconsistent beverages are a no-no. When you advertise your chocolate beverages, they better be damn good every time. I don't go to a place called the Chocolate Box for mediocrity or worse. Get it together.
And seriously woman, you're going to argue with me about a deal that I can physically show you says 50% off, then tell me that even though your employee told me I could have that deal on my drink, that the employee was wrong? So you don't stand by your word, you lie to customers, and tell them they're wrong? The customer is always right. Surely that's no secret to anybody. This was some of the worst treatment I've had in Seattle by anybody selling anything.
I probably won't be back. -
Review from Kayan L.
Came for Molly Moon's ice cream. They've changed my favorite flavor: Vivace coffee is now Stumptown. I gave each Molly Moon's a 4 star, but now it is a 2. Stumptown is not yummy. Won't go back for it.

Review from Ceci G.
Mainly for their attitude! I had 3 of their "gourmet" bomboms. These are done in other places and though they look to die for...I was not that impressed by the flavor, the mix or the memory they left. I had 2 with mint and one with chile.
On the other side, the girl who was patient enough to let me chose my 3 treats, was a great seller. Though she had no clue where the chocolate came from (as in origin of the bean), she was relaxed to admit it and suggest the tour they have.
Their tour (which I couldn't take thanks to a dumb co-worker who sabotaged me) is worth to do.... $6 for an event that will leave you happy trying different kinds of chocolate? YUM!!Listed in: Sweet treats

By far, these are some of the best chocolate truffles I've had in my life. And for $3 bucks each, they better be! The selection is amazing, so many unique combinations, anything from a Chocolate covered obama, to a dark chocolate truffle covered in sea salt. I don't remember the 4 truffles we bought but they were all MOUTH WATERING. We just ordered them to go and ate them later. This place is definitely a chocolate lovers HEAVEN and within convenient walking distance from Pikes Place Market.

Love it! If there were more of these stores further north, I could be persuaded to end my Starbucks addiction cold turkey.
Located a couple blocks from the Pike Place Market, it's a perfect place to stop by and grab a hot cocoa that you can customize w/delicious add-ins like homemade flavored marshmallows peanut butter, or orange cardamom.
If your hankerin for something cold, Molly Moon's ice cream is also sold here, in addition to the endless choices of truffles, chocolates & desserts.
There's more seating in the wine bar (which you can bypass lattes and cocoa if you choose to warm up another way).
The staff are really friendly, establishment is kept pretty clean and organized. -
Review from Jason R.
I was in Seattle for seven nights. I visited the Chocolate Box for four of those. The difference? I was tied to events and people past their closing time on the other nights.
If you're just visiting (like me) and want to try a variety of local chocolate products, this is your place. It's not exclusively any source. Nor is it exclusively local, but you can ask.
Molly Moon's balsamic strawberry plus their hot chocolate on top is perhaps my greatest in-store creation ever. Trying the honey mead truffle from a local chocolatier (augh! I'm blanking on correct credit! Someone help?) may be my best in-store choice ever. *EVER*. Re-cemented my determination to keep bees and make either mead or tej or both or everything. The hot chocolate with peppermint marshmallows? Oh, oh, OOOOHHHH... *insert Meg Ryan orgasm impersonation here* Molly Moon's cinnamon is from real cinnamon and needs no extra sweetening.
And the people working here? Wow. Ideas, conversation, interest, everything. And it's honest. And chocolaty. They manage to sweeten everything with their personalities and joy. -

The chocolate box = heaven.
I came here a few times during my visit to Seattle. How could I not? The best all-in-one dessert spot in downtown. I ended up getting mini cupcakes, ice cream and chocolate truffle cookies. All very sweet and satisfying. Even though it was super cold, I was intrigued by their freezing hot chocolate and couldn't help myself. Omg, it was freakin' delicious despite the freezing temps. Must, must, must visit the Chocolate Box. -

Are you kidding me?? What could go wrong in a place dedicated to wine, chocolate and ice cream? And a divine selection of each, I might add, with friendly service at every corner.
Only 4 stars because if something were to go wrong here, it would be horribly wrong. Like, walking outside after making a purchase and finding a man threatening to jump off the top of the Macy's parking garage with about 10 fire engines blaring, and all the streets blocked off so that getting back to the car as if nothing happened is not even an option, and your Molly Moon's is turning sour and starts curdling in your stomach...
Yet, despite the awkward location where (according to all those around me with cell phones pointed upward to capture the incident) this is just part of the nightly entertainment to be found here, I am still giving the Chocolate Box 4 stars. It is that good.Listed in: The Locavore, Seattle's Best, Dining At Home, Café and Bakeries

Its hard to compare anything to Extraordinary Desserts in San Diego but this place does its own thing. I like the Chocolate and wine idea next store. Great espresso, back goods and creative gelatos. Pretty extensive truffle bar.
The place is too nice and has quite a bit of nice things that needs a mature person to explain, sell, enhance and the summer ice cream stand girls were fine with the gelato but weren't going to sell me an expensive truffle. -

Over priced, touristy chocolate shop.
$3.00 for one truffle? Come on, i'd rather blow my bucks on Fran's hand crafted or See's decadent boxes. There is a soda fountain esque appeal to the place and because its close to Pike's Market, they are gonna rise the prices. The place is normally crammed with people causing long waits and the staff help is horrible. Unless you've got a chocolate bar in hand ready to purchase don't expect any help.
My advice would be go hit Theo Chocolates in Fremont for a real tour and actual free samples!! -

Think outside the box...
but...
When it comes to The Chocolate Box...I think y'all should stay inside of the chocolate box.
We came here for sweet treats after long walks around the city. We decided on their Gelatos. I had one scoop of the Pistachio and it satisfied my craving for sugah.
We browsed around the shop and I decided to get one of the Theo's Bread & Chocolate bar for my sister. The lady behind the counter asked me if I ever had it before and I said no, but I'm an adventurous eater and so does my sis. I think she will like it. The nice lady insisted on giving me the sample. Of course I would take a sample and oh boy...that Theo's Bread Chocolate bar was amazing.
I will stop by here again for my next trip to Seattle. Chocolate can and will make me broke. At least I will be a sweet full of sugah broke ass girl. -

I tried the hot chocolate here and it was pretty good. Especially on a cold seattle night. I got an 8 oz cup for a little less than $4. It was hot & rich and topped with whipped cream. They had many other items on the menu too that I didn't pay much attention to but the sweets they had in the glass case all looked pretty tasty.

Calling all chocolate lovers!!!
Come to this shop for the great variety of chocolates, chocolate based desserts, Molly Moon ice cream availability, and inventive truffles and chocolates in the make your own box area.
I went to this shop for a friend who was on a diet where he was swearing off all white things, flour, sugar, rice, etc. He needed something sweet though and though chocolate does work with some sugar I thought it would be a good cheat treat that wasn't white in color. He loved the little box I put together for him.
Great for gifts and treats for yourself or others. -

What???? I can't' believe it, how could I not have reviewed the Chocolate box until now!!! That's pure insanity. I have loved this place since I found it one cold winter afternoon while waiting for a friend who was running late. I saw the hot cocoa sold here sign and my freezing hands and body yelled YES! Ever since then, I have to stop inside this place when I go by. You walk in and you are overwhelmed by the aroma of delicious chocolate. They have a counter of chocolates to view, and on the right an espresso bar serving up chocolate and coffee drinks. When they say their hot chocolate is the best, it really is true. Their mocha is also great. They also have soy milk for none milk drinkers. This is a great place to warm up on a cold breezy winter day.

We went to the Chocolate Box for their Chocolate Tour after grabbing a couple of Groupons. It really was fun. We went to the Theo Chocolate Factory, got some interesting background on chocolate, got to do some sampling and even some goodie making. It was all over really fun. They have some really unique chocolates in bars and individual truffles and a lovely wine shop attached. My only gripe is that the shop itself is pretty pricey. I am sure the rent is crazy though, so I can understand.
PS: They are now carrying Molly Moon's ice cream :) -

Seattle food tour 4.
I am in the box. Feeling it. Wrapped in a chocolate eau d vie. Stumbled on some newbies and some favorites. What's new were the hand painted artist truffles. $23 for 4. Mini cameos of silly faces. You can even see the mini brush strokes of colored cocoa butter here. These are not images made with transfer sheets- the form of silk screening that most chocolatiers use for pictures on chocolate. Definitely a first!
Favorites. Of course, Fran's salted caramels and Michael Mischer's toffee and salt bar. I was fortunate enough to be here when the chocolatier was doing a tasting event,
Insider tip-Be sure to get on CB's list for in store events including the wine tastings next door!
Psst, secret. Soon to come, an downtown outpost for Molly Moon ice cream. No standing in line in Wallingford. Stand in line downtown instead. -

I think I got my hopes up before coming here and that probably affected my overall impression of the place. Granted, I did not have a sweet, overflowing hot chocolate like a lot of people mentioned as being wonderful, but I did walk around the shop and it just seemed overpriced (even for a touristy area near Pike Place Market).
I only experienced the shop side of The Chocolate Box and didn't partake of a wine & chocolate tasting or any of the food really... but the group I was with wanted gelato but when we returned after dinner nearby the gelato magically disappeared and the staff claimed there was a problem with the cooler (?). I did pick up a few chocolate covered strawberries which were okay, nothing special for a chocolate covered strawberry... my husband had a red velvet cupcake but didn't mention anything special about that either.
I will say on the positive side, they have a variety of chocolates including several local (OR and WA I noticed) specialty chocolates. There is also a huge selection of truffles which I guess were made just for The Chocolate Box. Perhaps under different circumstances I would have had a better experience, but it just felt lacking when I was there. -

Molly Moons has taken over Seattle. The newest addition is a tiny bar in the Chocolate Box space, offering scoops of their traditional and seasonal flavors. From the crowds of tourists that I've seen, it looks like they've been raking in the money. I stopped by on a slow morning to try the seasonal pumpkin clove ice cream. Now I'm admittedly a sucker for fall and this fall offering did not disappoint. A deep rich pumpkin flavor, undeterred by the heavy cream base, with enough clove to pep things up. The spices warmed up the ice cream. A good treat for tasting while strolling around drizzly Seattle.

My friend and I stopped by here for dessert when we saw that they had gelato.
The staff was nice and don't bother to interact with you unless you get their attention. They were very happy to answer our questions and made good suggestions because it was our first time trying gelato that at this location.
After debating for a few minutes, my friend got the passion and peach gelato. They were both very light and not overly sweet; perfect for the summer weather.
I had the hazelnut gelato and it was very good with a touch of sweetness. At most, it tastes like a Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut Chocolate truffle, only without the chocolate and probably with less calories.
My poor rating is due to their decision to get rid of the gelato for Molly Moon's ice cream. It's just sad because although I am a fan of Molly Moon's ice cream, it is one less place that sells gelato in Seattle. -

dark hot chocolate on a slightly rainy day is WONDERFUL!!! =)
plus, they really pack in the thick cream. SO GOOD!!!!
they also have espresso, mochas, lattes and an european hot chocolate (sipping chocolate..really thick). right before you head to the cashier, there's a well sized selection of desserts ranging from baby cupcakes (1.50), cookies, cake and various other sweets.
to the side...TONS of chcocolate bars, powders, truffles...basically
a HUGE chocolate box. ;)
we ordered that hot chocolate... YUM.
and we got a cookie w/ jam inside (has a little cute happy face)...
also very good!! loved how light it tasted.
friends and i had a great time hanging out.
you can check out the wine store next door to pair your chocolatey experience with a douse of wine! =P
oh..also this is one of the only dessert places open late on friday night! -

Offering bars, truffles, Gelato, chocolaty drinks, gifts, and paraphernalia of all kinds, The Chocolate Box is unlike the majority of chocolate shops in Seattle. It is less the boutique cocoa gallery I am used to and more of a supermarket of chocolate. That's not meant to be derogatory in any way, however, as both are necessary.
I had a peppermint hot chocolate, rich and caffeine loaded, which was spectacular, while I shopped around, eventually leaving with a box of Oh! Chocolate truffles. The Chocolate Box has a listing of guided tours, too, and they will take you to different chocolatiers in the city.
I recommend it for hostess gifts and out of towners.Listed in: Chocolate

I can relate to Brian W.'s 1 star review on 5/22/11. I was looking at their gelato selection. I was not acknowledged nor greeted. I walked around the store and checked out the chocolate selection. I was not offered any help or suggestions. I walked up to the counter and ordered a hot chocolate. After receiving the hot chocolate I was told the lids were off to the side of the counter. I walked over to the side, grabbed a lid, and an employee comes though the tiny isle making me move for them.
Sure they have an abundant selection of chocolate but if you're looking for excellent customer service I do not recommend coming here. -

Ideally I'd love to get one of everything in this chocolate mecca, but alas, I remained in control and got one piece of chocolate which was white chocolate swirled with peanut butter - and it was heavenly!
Both flavors were equally distributed and really complemented one another and the texture was smooth and velvety.
This is a great spot for chocolate lovers! -

I had been wanting to stop by here for a while and eventually stopped by to pick up some chocolates for a celebration my wife and I were having. Everything looked really good and I ended up getting a chocolate cookie that was fantastic.
The food itself was good, but the service here was horrendous. There were four people behind the counter, all ignoring us except for one person. The other other three weren't helping with the orders, or even cleaning; they were just standing around fiddling. There were only three customers at the time, it wasn't that hard. With the amount of tourists that must visit their shop, customer service has to be as good as the
chocolate!
Unfortunately, the woman that helped me was incredibly nice and friendly, and I actually enjoyed her service. If there was any way that I could have tipped just her, I would have, but no matter what I gave she was only getting one-fourth of it, so I just paid and took my change. It's a shame that the other employees are so bad, because The Chocolate Box is going to loose the one good employee they have when she realizes that she could make way more money as a waitress.
Good chocolate, but don't expect anything close to decent service. -

Stayed at the Hyatt and was lucky enough to come into this awesome chocolate heaven! The girl in there was really sweet, I didn't catch her name (I'm sorry) but she was attending school in Indiana... ( hi from L.A )
We ordered a guiness cupcake and an orange cardamom hot chocolate.
I honestly was so obsessed with that amazing cup of hot chocolate I couldn't tell ya how it was, I even asked my boyfriend "how was the cupcake?" bc we split it, he couldnt remember either, ha! No, seriously get the orange cardamom! It had candied orange slices on the bottom with fresh whipped cream on the side ( ask for it) vanilla and chocolate...I was the best hot chocolate I've ever had. go here :)
