The only reason it gets one star is because I really like the new addition to soldier field.
Really, I know nothing about football. However, I did come here for Family Night last week. What a great way to let those who normally wouldn't be able to score and/or afford tickets to a regular game see the action close up! Tickets were roughly $7 each. There was a carnival of sorts prior to the practice. Practice was roughly two hours; all followed by fireworks! We were in the tenth row and had a great view.
I had a great time with my sister and her family and I have a feeling this may become an annual event for them.
I wish I was able to see you more live and in person! In the span of 36 years I have only seen you twice and the second time you were playing your home games in Champaign! Don't take this personal but I would rather crack open a beer on my sofa or have a waitress bring me beers, nachos, wings, and pizza in a bar while I am watching you guys.
It is only July but I am starting to get that little itch in my gut. One of my favorite things about August is the start of the NFL preseason!!!!! The countdown to 8/7 is on!

In the middle of Favre-Gate 2008, Lovie told the press "We have our quarterbacks". Get ready for more Lovie-on-child violence!

Long time suffering fan here. Second star is for the great '85 team. Since then it's been more or less dogsh1t. Yes we made it to the Super Bowl two years ago, but embarrassment in front of Colts fan brother-in-law nullified all gains there. All other years 1986-present have been ridiculously depressing. Anyone else remember crooked moustache Wanny and his stupid "appp, all the pieces are in place"? Dick Mauron? The offensive geniuses John Shoop and Gary Crowton? 'Zo Spellman, Shane Matthews, Kordella Stewart?!?! Jesus, I feel like I've wasted 20 years of my life rooting for this fucking team, and all I've got to show for it is an unnatural hatred of Bret Favre.
Overall, as sad as it makes me to say it, this franchise is a massive black eye to the city of Chicago that has instilled more anger management issues in me than a team of therapists could cure. And yeah, the future ain't looking so bright either.

I was instant-messaging my group of fantasy football friends and we were talking about Snoop Dogg doing a verse where he compares himself to Dallas QB Tony Romo. One guy asked what would Snoop Dogg say about the Bears and Rex Grossman, so here was a verse I came up with:
My name is Rex.
I was gone for a while,
I don't play no West Coast style.
Droppin' back.
Getting' the sack.
Laid flat.
Misread safety blitz attack.
Look out Lovie
And watch me hack!
The Packers D-linemen
They hump my ass.
Defense picks off my pass.
The ILB gets my INT.
Don't be talkin' S$%^ about me!
I don't listen to them PSL holders grumble
Every time my center fumbles.
Like it or not,
I'll wear orange-and-blue
Till my career is through.
Don't like that?
Too bad! You're screwed!
(drops mike on floor, disgruntled expression, flashes a hand gesture, turns his Bears cap sideways and walks away).

Dear Chicago Bears,
I love you men, really I do. Despite the fact that you were so good to me last year and this year, not so much. You don't give me anything to get hot and sweaty and scream about now. Everything was so much better last season, even though you did have your share of disappointments which was really random and weird, in the middle of excitement it went limp and I was left in the dark.
Rex, you are a good football player, so stop being so darn stupid!!!
Devin, you are the apple of my eye. I love you so. You just keep huffing and puffing until you get the job done, and that, my friends, is what we call a true man.
Overall, I will never be able to not love you men. I am a Chicago native and I always will be, even if I do move to Miami for school next year, and you guys will always be my men, my monsters.
Love,
A True Fan [despite the disappointments]

Screw you guys. I went to my first game in two years thinking it would be an easy win and subsequent celebration. You guys can't even look like you're trying against Detroit? I sat in the cheap seats and had to listen to all the Lions fans talk shit the whole game. During halftime they were doing cartwheels. Cartwheels FFS. Rant over.

The Chicago Bears as an organization has improved over the last 10 years from below average to slightly above average. While 2007 seems to be yet another Superbowl win less year , each year now starts with the brightest glimmer of hope in the hearts of many Bears fans. Gone are the years where we knew after the seasons first loss that we would be hoping for a high draft pick that isn't pissed away. Management isn't at the point where I'm confident that the Bears will go after the top free agents , or that we can draft a marquee quarterback or running back. I will give the Bears credit for making it to the Superbowl last year , even if it was a bit lucky. Management needs to treat a Chicago team like the major market team it is.
I have an unmistakable Chicago accent - it even comes across in my text messages. Commuting to my hospital job in a blue-collar suburb only amplifies things.
Tomorrow, when the Bears win the Superbowl, I will call every out-of-town friend in the country and say "sausage" and other words that showcase the Chicagoan vowel shift in celebration. Proudly.
2/5/07 update: next year. Be waiting by the phone.

You're a good team, Bears. I like Lovie. With a name like Lovie- how could you not like the guy (imagine the taunting he experienced in elementary school...). For your sake let's hope a few things happen a little differently than the yawn that was the early game on Sunday:
1) Let's hope that the Bears defense we heard so much about at the onset of the season comes back for the BIG game...
2) Let's hope Rex Grossman actually shows up ready to play this one...
3) Let's hope you get lucky...
Or on second thought, let's hope those don't happen and Peyton finally gets a ring!
GO COLTS!!

I can't say I'm a die hard Bears fan but when I do watch, they seem to have a lot of heart, so I say good for them! Although I can't deal with Grossman - as far as I can tell I have to give them 5 stars for overcoming him! :)
Thanks Bears for giving Chicago a Super Bowl- I still remember your last one, where as maybe a first grader, my classmates and I let go of orange and blue baloons and got all decked out in Bears apparel (a big deal for Catholic school kids!). Lets hear some superbowl shuffle!!

They're so bad they know they're good.
Blowin' our minds like they knew they would.
You know they're just struttin' for fun
Struttin' their stuff for everyone.
They're not here to start no trouble.
They're just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle.

Although I am in love with the Patriots (Tom Brady - A-hem!) this New Englander always designates a little space in her heart for Chicago sports teams.
Due to a recent and unfortunate NFL play-off event, this weekend all my Patriotic energy will be channeled to Da Bears. I hope they wipe that smirk off of Peyton "I always look like I am eating my nose" Manning's face. That means you, Urlacher. Kick his ass, Sea Bass!

The Chicago Bears was one of my favorite team growing up.
It's not because of Monsters of Midway or Walter Payton and such. Definitely not because of Brian Urlacher and the current Chicago Bears. The name itself sounded cool.
The countless years of disappointments and lackluster seasons wasted on the team made me given up on the team. Almost was going to pull for a new team, but I digress. After all, with so much time and energy investing on them, might as well give them another chance.
Lo and behold at 1993, I was so excited because they drafted someone I have seen on TV many times. The commissioner went up on stage and announced..."with the fifth pick of the 1993 NFL draft, the Chicago Bears selects..Curtis Conway, WR of USC",
I was elated! Of course only to find out that Curtis Conway never really panned out, but it did made me stay with the Bears alot longer.
Over the years, the ho hum performances never really matured into the season I had hoped for the Bears. Last season was the start of a brand new era.
Win or lose on Feb. 4, 2006... I still love the Bears. The team from up and down seasons I had to endure.
My favorite players are Jim McMahon, Willie Gault, Brian Urlacher, Neal Anderson, and Mike Singletary.
Of course..Walter Payton.
If they can beat the Colts, I'll add Rex Grossman to that list....ONLY if the team beats the Colts.

Bears rule. Those big furry creatures that come in assorted colors, including black, brown, white, and orange (as is the case with Winnie the Pooh).
The Chicago Bears rule, also. Those big, potentially furry creatures that come in assorted colors, including Vasher, Jones, Gould, and Urlacher (whom I think should really have his own Crayola color -- perhaps a rough, burnt orange misted with a pink hue, to show his softer side).
On a serious note:
Kristina B. (that's ME!) = Long time Bears fan, even when they're losing. Football is my favorite of all sports and I've been following the Bears ever since I was little. I've always shown my love and support to them, no matter what. It's just really, really, really nice that they made it all the way this time (06-07). Really nice. :)
Serious note ended.

This is our year!!! Ok, it's only about 35 minutes into the first game of the 2006 season, but hey, this is the time when ALL of Chicago unites into one sports team! With the rich history of Papa Bear Halas, the indisputable eloquent showmanship and sportsmanship of Walter "Sweetness" Payton, Gayle Sayres,Dick Butkus, Dan Hampton, and Mike Singletary, how can you not LOVE this team!? Oh, and who can forget "DAAA COACH" Mike Ditka--great player, fabulous coach!

Always a Chicago fan! I love this city and how it always comes alive for its sports and how diehard the fans are. (Even though I was at the Chicago wolves fan, I thought that it was funny how many ppl had mini tvs out and were watching the Bears game during the Wolves game and sometimes, they cheered more loudly for the Bears than the Wolves)

In the contest between the bears and the colts I pick DITKA to come out on top with a score of 999- not because he couldn't score more but simply for fear of crashing the NFL system (seeing as it has not been checked for its Y2D(itka) compliancy) and thus having to reboot it.

Can't say enough about this franchise. The monsters of the midway rule. Been a fan since 1989 (I was, I dunno, 14?). I even wore #35 as my high school football number, because at the time Neal Anderson (Bears RB) was my favorite player. And I didn't even play the same position. I've been rooting for the team ever since, even in public when nobody else cared. So I feel like a true diehard, since I never knew anyone else who even liked the Bears!
One more thing, there's a story that just went national a lady didn't want to miss the NFC Championship game with the Bears against the Saints, when she was in the hospital to have a child so she induced labor early to be able to watch the game. That's because Bears fans rule!!
GO Bears!!!!!!!!!!! Super Bowl XLI Miami Bound!!
By the way, the Bears convention is coming up in a few months in Chi-town. Anybody else going? :-]

I want to apologize. This is important.
My friend and I have watched every game so far this year. Hell, all the games last year too. We love us some Bears and we have -faith- in our Bears. We really do.
But that faith faltered this past Monday versus the Arizona Cardinals and in our darkest moment we abandoned hope and lost our faith. And we were wrong to do so and so I want to apologize to the Bears because of this.
I'm sorry I thought 13 points and 10 minutes was insurmountable. I'm sorry I didn't have enough confidence in you as a team and that I treated you like last year's Bears, unable to overcome even a 7 point deficit let alone 13. I'm sorry I left the bar and went home, only to watch online as you defied every doubter and won the game through sheer willpower, and defense, alone. And I'm sorry for being a shitty fan and abandoning you when you most needed diehards like me.
It will. Not. Happen. Again. It can't and it won't. Every game from here out will be watched, at no point will I give up and declare everything lost. The Bears can come back from anything to save the day for us despondent Cubs, Sox and Bulls fans. And the three Blackhawk fans still alive. They can deliver us from desperation and we owe it to them to stay loyal and true.
Have faith in our Bears, Chicagoland. This is truly the year of destiny and I'm going to stand by them until the very end.

This year they deserve 5 stars. There are previous years where they practically deserved 0 stars.
This year's team has the potential to out-do the 1985 Bears, a team that has gone down in NFL history as one of the greatest teams every (really, only surpassed by the undefeated Dolphins team).
I don't see the 2006 Bears going undefeated, but if Rex Grossman can at least play reasonably competently (and not have another AWFUL game like last night's against the Cardinals), they could easily go 14-2. With luck, and a couple of hot games from Rex at the right moment, they could be undefeated.
Love 'em, support 'em - they're playing their hearts out.
