Spent a few nights here for a conference, not so easy to get to this here town from the West.. Was really surprised coming in at night seeing the name on this random, industrial/commercial/apartment type of monolith, though this place was gonna suck and be real lame, until I saw the fire posts... Hmmmm, maybe there is something in this giant slab of bricks.
And there is, a great hotel, especially for conferences- great facilities, friendly staff, very nice rooms with good fittings, beds and furniture. The meals were excellent, buffet lunches that are not done justice by the term 'buffet' at all, very tasty!
Very much enjoyed my stay, not such a cool place with your wife or such but a good business option. On the outer edge of the main parts of downtown which is a bummer, strange area really for a resort/hotel.
We recently had our wedding here and enjoyed the entire process working with their in-house planner Duane. He was completely professional and easy to work with, helping us customize their various menus to create exactly what we wanted. From what I could tell, they were easy to work with for our outside vendors like the florist and party rental people. We could have forgone our wedding planner, as she seemed redundant in the face of Duane and the Chattanoogan's expertise.
The space is a bit overwhelming at first because it feels too big and "conferency," but with the help of lighting and decor, the ballroom was transformed. We've gotten nothing but amazing feedback from our guests. All our out-of-town friends and family stayed at the hotel, which was incredibly convenient, and they all seemed to enjoy their stay.
The Chattanoogan is in the Southside of town, which is admittedly not the waterfront area with most of the touristy venues. We liked that. It is close to the hip Main and Market Streets with the best restaurants in town (St. John's and Alleia) and some great shopping (Revival and Shadow Box--plus Warehouse Row is getting renovated and will have even more shopping by Christmas, including Revival which is moving to their new location here). Chattanooga's not big--it's still only 1 mile to the river from the Chattanoogan. Also, the Chattanoogan is where it is because it's close to the Convention and Trade Center.
Overall, definitely recommend this beautiful, urban, hip, luxe hotel as a wonderful place to have your wedding or event.
