Ate here twice on our recent trip to Bar Harbor. Both times I had the "lazy man's lobster" which was wonderful! The meat from a whole lobster, drowning in butter - mmmmmmmmm. They also make a great dirty martini, the service is excellent, and the blueberry pie was to die for! Husband had the seafood pasta which at other places is mostly starchy sauce and tiny pieces of seafood - not here! Lighter sauce and lots of huge chunks of scallop, lobster, shrimp, etc.

I have eaten here now about half a dozen times and the problems with eating here are a total lack of consistency, and high prices.
Sometimes the food is spot on, well seasoned and tastes wonderful. Other times it's mediocre, lacks flavor and isn't especially well cooked.
A few weeks ago I ordered the Maine seafood special, over linguine. The first time it came in a bowl, steeped with loads of great scallops, shrimp, lobster, seasoned perfectly, over a generous portion of linguine. Last night I returned to find the same "Special" on the menu, (still around $25), and as it was so good the last time I hoped for the same. My meal arrived on a plate, less pasta, less seafood, no seasoning, the scallops were halved (they were already smaller), and overall a plate of oily fish swimming over overcooked linguine. Very disappointing.
Another example this summer was ordering for lunch the blackened tuna. Depending on the chef of the day you will get tuna seasoned and cooked perfectly, or as I discovered, BURNT TO A CHAR tuna, simply burnt black on both sides. Carbonized tuna tastes of.... Carbon. I sent it back and out came another perfect piece of tuna killed to a black crisp. Totally inedible, and yes I was charged. "It's the way the chef says it should be done". Really!
Nothing here is cheap, $6.95 for an appetizer Cesar salad is simply ridiculous. 2 salads, 2 entrees and 2 drinks, no dessert, no coffee, $80 PLUS tip. Be warned.
They are now closing for the season. That tells me it's more of a tourist trap than a locals restaurant.
Maybe we will return, but there are some better valued choices, just down the street.
PS: The map location on Yelp is wrong, this restaurant is actually adjacent to the water. I don't know why it's located where it is. -

The food ranged from mediocre to disgusting. The crab cakes were little more than congealed globs of mayonnaise with chopped celery tossed in for color. If there was any crab, I neither saw nor tasted it. My lobster was a tough little chicken with broken claws. The fried clams, bland and pasty, and French fries were worse than what you typically find on the Northeast coast, although double or triple the price. The vegetables served with our meal were obviously fresh frozen and without much flavor.
The service was so rushed that we felt stressed by our waiter's workload. He never stopped to talk to us. Every interaction was a flyby at Mach speed. "Need anything else?" he'd ask as he zoomed behind my chair.
The view, it must be said, is fantastic. This is what you pay for. The food and service do not make up for it however and you'd do better eating in Bar Harbor itself. -

What can be said other than lobster lousy! The bread was stale and reheated. We ordered the special of the day, the "Maine scampi", which was bland and greasy. I never had anything drenched in so much butter that lacked so much flavor.
Ordered mussels which they didn't have and they gave us clams that must not have been washed with the amount of sand in them, and was flavorless.
The service was great and the waitress was nice, so we left a good tip. But if I could have punished the chef somehow, I would have!
I will never return to eat here! Lobster tail?!? More like these losers fail! -

I was rather surprised to arrive at this establishment for fine dining after I had asked the front desk at my hotel to recommend a family seafood place. This would be something I would prefer to dine at with my husband and adult child. Nevertheless, we were here with the whole brood, and at 5pm so were plenty others, haha. My seafood medley, consisted of very fresh tender scallops, jumbo shrimp and haddock in a wine sauce was so good that I had to soak up the rest of the wonderful au jus with another roll. There are a number of seating areas - inside, inside patio, and outside. I liked that we were seated in the inside patio and still be able to look at the water views. By the time we finished our meal, all the dining areas were full or filling up. It was a nice change to not have to go into downtown Bar Harbor for a nice meal.

Wife and I had dinner on a Saturday night. We did have very good clam chowder and the steamers (clams). The waiter Charley was very good , I rate his service 4 stars!! Gave us tips on how to eat the clams and help with selecting our main entrees. If you'd like a nice dinner and good atmosphere in the dining room, this is a good place. I enjoyed the baked halibut and wife had the whole lobster. Good bread (fresh) too.

My wife and I really enjoy this place and try to make it a point to have a meal here whenever we visit Bar Harbor. This year's trip is no exception. We enjoyed an excellent lunch with perfect ambiance courtesy of Mother Nature and Hull's Cove.
With a good selection of national and local beer on tap and in bottles, it's always fun to grab a brew and peruse the menu. The food is excellent. We enjoyed an appetizer of smoked salmon. I followed it with a caesar salad topped with a piece of seared tuna. My wife had fried haddock. All was excellently prepared and promptly served.
Everything was tasty and dining outside with a view of cozy Hull's Cove was a great experience. On top of that, a noteworthy detail of the meal was the fact that they gave us a true full high chair for our son instead of the usual wooden open-framed type that most restaurants offer. This allowed us to actually enjoy the meal and gave our son the freedom to feed himself and not get into trouble.
I recomend this place for a great view, good food, and a parent-friendly atmosphere. -

Good food, location and service but nothing to write home about nor go a second time in the same vacation week.
Small portions for the price. -

My mom and I ate lunch here as soon as we pulled into Bar Harbor since we had to check in here for our cabin. I'm not a lobster fan, I know sin in Maine, so I had the crab roll lunch special. It was good, not as mayonnaisey as I was expecting. This place seemed geared toward the older crowd, and very touristy, which I guess Bar Harbor is full of. Prices are a little high as well. The outdoor patio looked really cool, but it was closed.

Even on a rainy Sunday afternoon this place has a terrific view. The food is so fresh and tasty -- plus perfect portions for lunch. The staff very friendly. I would definitely return, rain or shine.

This was probably the best meal we had in the week we spent in Bar Harbor. I had the seafood medley, which was super indulgent and portioned perfectly. My gf had stuffed shrimp. I'm not quite sure what spices were used, but we both agreed the stuffing was some of the best we'd ever had. Oh, and the view from the deck out over Hull's Cove is gorgeous.
The next time I find myself in Bar Harbor, I will be sure to visit this place again. -

I've been coming here for years. Honestly the food is tasty and filling but not terribly exciting - it's fresh seafood, and it's perfectly well prepared but there's not really not anything exceptional about it. I'd skip the specials, which are over-priced and overrated (I keep ordering the $24 macadamia nut crusted halibut, which keeps disappointing me - its much less macadamia-y and much less encrusted than I would expect). Your best bet is to order a fairly simple entree and save room for their blueberry pie or Tollhouse Pie, both of which are wonderful. But what really makes this place worth the price are the lovely views of Hulls Cove from the dining room. You can eat outside on the deck too, but if you prefer eating inside like I do, make sure to take a walk outside afterwards. It's a great place for a photo.

Expensive, but the food was just adequate. I'm a big seafood fan from the Chicago area, and was really excited to try some Maine lobster. But I've had it better and less expensive back home, so this was a let down.

food was okay-everything seemed fresh-we arrived about 2pm on a thursday afternoon--sat downstairs in the shade-the person who seated us was lovely and the other servers seemed great-we however got the rudest person ever-he basically barked at us that the "specials" were on the front of the menu-took our orders-litrally slammed our drinks and food on the table-once the food was served we only saw him when he wanted the check paid-he even put his tip on the check!!!! It was the only time he showed any civility when he said "thanks folks"-never never never again......
