The Center has been around since 1975, and has over 100 locations throughout the world. It originally started because there was a need of support for children with a terminal illness and their grieving families.
30+ years later, The Center has matured into community support for all kinds of people, schools, hospitals, and other humanitarian service centers. It is based on Attitudinal Healing which is a way of honoring yourself and others during trying times in your life without having to be dedicated to any type of religion or spiritual practice.
All community services are free of charge. Some of the groups are:
Bereavement
Aging with Attitude
Military Family Support
Life Threatening Illness
Prison Program, San Quentin
Women with Metastasis
Person - to - Person
HIV / AIDS
My previous experience with cancer led me to give back to my community. I volunteered as a facilitator and counselor for many years at The Center, and still do today.
60 Minutes said, "...it is not a hospital that treats the body, it is a place that tends to the spirit. That part of medicine that doctors often ignore."
