More 2 1/2 stars, but I'll let it rank on the higher side for the pure purpose of convenience, location and ability to hold a good sized group of people.  We attended DK & KFr's wedding celebrations this weekend and it was actually nice to not be in the main village where ALL the people were.  We were able to walk down to the ocean and back as well as to other places and it was a quick drive to the wedding site.

The price was a bit high for the type of place - a step up from Motel 6, below Courtyard or similar more so because the place is a bit run down.  However the location and property in general are nice and they allow dogs (for an extra charge).  They seem to be in the middle of a remodel but since we brought the pup we obviously didn't get one of those remodeled rooms.

Our room was a bit dark and the fixtures and such needed replacing, you could also see cracks in the walls in the bathroom.  There are only two flimsy pillows for the bed with a thin blanket and thinner poly blend bed cover.  We had a patio overlooking the bushes, but if you are tall enough you could see something.  Oh and there are hangers in the closet, but you can't remove them.  There is free wireless but the connection is spotty and has those annoying pop-top ads on every page.  There's a free continental breakfast in the morning and cookies and popcorn in the afternoon.  The staff is friendly and leave a couple mini bottles of water in your room with a granola bar to share ;p

The place is fine if you're not planning on spending a lot of time in your room - since it's close to lots of things.  We ended up spending a bit more time in the room then we originally planned since more of the places were not as dog friendly as we had anticipated.

Stayed here Saturday night for my mom's 50th b-day festivities. Our room was huge! It included a king, and queen bed, a roll away bed, a large couch, a table for 4, a full size fridge, 1 1/2 baths, 2 tv's, and a porch with a table and chairs. The bedding was thin with dingy pillow covers. The room decor was outdated and ugly. You could hear everything going on outside, and upstairs. They offer continental breakfast, but we passed. The one thing I did love was the shuttle to the Art & Wine Festival picks up and drops off right down the hill from the hotel. Perfect!

If the room would have been less expensive than it was, I would have given it one star more.  We paid $130 for a Saturday night for a very average / less than average room.  The beds, and pillows are "ok", but definitely not the best that I've had at a motel.  The room was very basic, and has an odd odor when you first walk in.  It wasn't the worst room that I've ever stayed in... but, for the price paid, I did expect nicer accommodations than what we got.

I think I saw a sign that says they offer free internet.  And, there is a free breakfast between 8 am - 10 am, which was decent (bagels, cream cheese, butter, cereal, frozen toaster waffles, bread, muffins, orange juice).  They have a coffee maker with several different flavors in the machine.

Oh, and make sure to check for a tub stopper before undressing to take a relaxing bath.  Ours was missing... and when I called down to the front desk to ask about it, she said, "oh, you don't have one... well you can come to the front desk to come and get one."  I said, "okay, I'll get re-dressed to come and do that then." ;)

It is about a 20 minute walk to the downtown area.

Technically, 2 1/2 stars. So we were hesitant to check this place out after reading reviews on trip advisor and here on yelp. but they allow dogs and the price was right, so decided to give them a chance. A couple people mentioned that maybe renovations might help this place - and it did seem clean and fairly new. We went there over Thanksgiving weekend and it was pretty quiet. Service was nice - the front desk was polite and informative. Each room even has a "patio," although many of them are just staring out at their parking lot - and if you're staying on the ground floor you kinda feel like you're just chillin with the cars in the parking lot.

But the big downers for this place: THIN walls and ADJOINING rooms. Not sure if all the rooms are adjoined - but ours was, meaning it was connected to the room next door via an inside connecting door so that if we wanted we could go back and forth between rooms. It was only the two of us and our dog - so need (or desire!) to go back and forth w/the room next to us.

We went to bed at 11 or 12...our neighbor came rollin in or, rather, bustin in at about 2. He must've been drunk - he was talking really loud and hanging out on his "patio," which was separated from our "patio" by a thin wall that was open above and below. We listened to him talk to someone (?) on the phone (or maybe himself) for awhile - then he decided he wanted to try out our adjoining door and see if we wanted to hang out. Started banging on the door and yelling for us to come out, or something like that. Our dog was going crazy...after 5-10 minutes he got bored with it then decided it was time for some lovin. Let's just say that the things we heard him say was WAY too much information and we were more than sorry that we heard them.

Summary? Clean, recently renovated, okay prices, allows dogs...balanced with thin walls, patio in the parking lot and adjoining rooms. Won't be going back.

Had to check in to Capitola Inn so I could adequately celebrate my youngest brother's wedding.  In fact all the Filipino relatives invaded all the motels, hotels, and inns within a mile radius of Capitola so my stay was enlivened by the celebratory environment of family and friends.  BUT the accomodations of this little inn left something to be desired.  My room was dingy, smoke-stained, and dark.  The lights of the entry were out and the carpet was sticky and smelly.  The TV was so old, I really didn't know how to operate it and the bathroom fan was so noisy, I thought I might disturb other occupants every time I turned on the lights.  The hallways were tiled and seemed cleaning agents have never been used to polish them to a shiny splendor.  I was so disappointed because it was located in a such a cozy hillside, surrounded by trees.  The only redeeming quality was the pool.  It was clean and inviting, but alas not heated.  To make matters worse, when we started to celebrate and needed a cork screw to open a nice bottle of Bordeaux--the front desk could not provide one...Too bad, all could have been forgotten had we a taste of the beautiful Bordeaux.
