Why have we not been to this location? Can't explain it but sure glad we came here. This is by far the nicest location. Why? The inside is so beautiful. Very high ceilings, all done in a dark wood, old world feel with a huge wine cellar in the middle of the restaurant, with of course some excellent wines.
We requested a booth, private, intimate, dark, soft candles, low music. Very nice decor, with some great sculptures throughout the dining area and nice artwork. You just felt very relaxed and comfortable.
The entire staff from the hostess to the waiter, to the manager's, they are all so professional and give superior service. Our waiter (Steve) said he has been with them for ten years. He knew the menu so well and gave great recommendations.
Starters: French onion soup and Lobster Bisque, it was very cold so we needed something warm. Amazing! I switched with hubby and ate every last drop of the lobster bisque. They were both excellent but wow, this was one heck of a great soup.
I really did not want steak tonight but the fish entree's were not to my taste. So I decided on the Filet Mignon and hubby ordered the Sirloin. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes.
Our bottle of wine came over, J Lohr Cabernet Sauvignon, good price. The bread basket, oh forgot how good their bread is. A nice variety of white, dark, flatbread and poppyseed. Smooth creamy butter......stop me.....eating it all......gee I love good bread......
So the steaks were fantastic and perfectly cooked. Hubby had his with Parmesan crust and he really enjoyed it. The cuts are big and juicy. The flavor of the steak is good. The way they cook their steaks is charbroiled on the outside with the crisp dark color. This is something I have never cared for. I know alot of people like their steaks prepared like this but I do not. I prefer a soft crust where all the flavors come through not a dark cooked outside layer. Regardless, the steak was great, just not a five star steak for me.
The mashed potatoes were the BEST. Smooth, creamy, just perfect. This was the best with the soup and bread I was enjoying my meal.
The food is always consistent, service is impeccable and the ambiance is pure class. This will be our new location to enjoy. Really loved the inside and the bar area was very nice. Valet is free with validation.
Pure class, every step of the way.......Thanks for a great evening....
No dessert, to full. Plenty steak for tomorrow. :)
Stop in, pure luxury.........Prices are typical steakhouse pricing, you pay for quality......

Love the Steak! Best in Miami....for my taste at least (which is good, believe me, lol).
Well, let me start off, went on a Tuesday night for a family birthday, and from the start the service was excellent (something truly impressive for South Florida). Had a couple glasses of an excellent Spanish wine, and started perusing the menu. I usually go for the Filet Mignon (can't go wrong) but instead went for a Bone-In Sirloin with a Kona Coffee rub....WOW! The sides, as usual were awesome, and we shared almost all the one's on the menu, so I am speaking from experience.
Between the company, the food, and the ambiance I had another great experience and will recommend it to anybody. This is definitely not your typical "chain" restaurant (as you can tell by the prices). FIVE STARS (six if your not the one paying).

Very difficult for me not to give this place a 4-Star. But I would have to say one of the better restaurants in Miami. It's located right across from the Viceroy hotel. Amazing decor with wood grain wine lockers carrying wines the locals want stored just for that "special occassion" ie: Pat Riley, former coach of the Miami Heat.
When will all restaurants implement the simultaneous serving? Capital Grille did.
Waiter was kind but we were evidently the youngest group in the entire restaurant.
Another great experience. The Capital Grill consistently delivers where others fall short.
Typical menu, typical prices, way beyond typical service. If you dine at The Capital Grille you will have chosen wisely.
Worth a detour.

I've been here many times and I can say that last Saturady was the best. I went to celabrate my mother-in-law's birthday with my gf and her dad. We had one of the best wines ever and they have a great selection of wines, some on the expensive side but well worth it. For those that would like to try it or are wine savvy it was a Gyser Peak Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2004. The appetizers we very good fresh and big enough so you can share. If you like steak then this place is one of the best in Miami, nothing beats dry-aged steaks.
My favorite steak is the Porcini rubbed Delmonico steak with 120 year aged balsamic vinegar, my gf had the Bone-in Kona crusted dry aged sirloin both are the BOMB!
For dessert I had the flourless chocolate espresso cake and WOW, delicious. Besides haveing amazing food, capital Grille has also an amazing service, everyone that works there greets you as you are walking to the table. Our waitress was very attentive and answered all our questions from the wine tot he desserts.
Hard not to give this place 5 stars.
Valet parking is complimentary, unheard of in Miami.
I have been to the Capital Grille a few times, and was just back there last week. I received a great special from American Express for two entrees and a bottle of wine for $100. The wine retailed on the menu for over $140! Of course, somehow we still spent too much money!
Capital Grille makes excellent martinis, as I had my favorite, a Knob Creek Manhattan and Hugo A. had his favorite, a Grey Goose Dirty Martini. The Stonestreet Legacy 2004 was also excellent and had a bold but drinkable flavor. The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, and complemented our dinner very well.
In terms of food, I was a little disappointed with my chopped salad. The viniagrette could have had more flavor, and the choice of vegetables (including green beans and a boiled shallot at the bottom) was odd to me. I ordered the Kona rubbed Ribeye with the caramelized shallot butter, which was good, but not as flavorful as it has been in the past. I fell in love with the play on bitter and sweet flavors years back and was a little disappointed this time around. The parmesan truffle fries were delicious as always and the lobster mac and cheese was tangy and flavorful, though better without the lobster. I also recommend the Lobster and Crab burger at lunch.
Diego provided excellent service and I would recommend asking for him on your next visit.

If you want the best steak in Miami you come here. They have a nice selection of wines and some great starters my wife had the lobster and I had the Filet Minon it was one of the nicest steaks I have eat in a long time. The service was excellent if you want the best steaks you come here garanteed to not be disapointed I come here often another great steak is the Porterhouse. Enjoy boys and girls.
I took my wife to dinner there for her birthday and I must say I was very impressed. Service was amazing, the food was impeccable and I have yet to encounter service as great as I had at the Capital Grille. My wife and I had the lobster mac and cheese and the crab cakes to start. For dinner we each had a porterhouse, (yes we can eat) and also a bottle of wine. Grand total was less than I expected which was a welcome surprise.

Amazing, as always. Accomodating and the food and drinks are perfect. Make sure you've tried one of thier signature stoli-doli's. If you're looking for something out of this world, order the KONA RUB (listed on the menu with the sirloin) on the Rib-Eye -- it's not on the menu but hey will of course cater to most of your requests. Lobser Mac and Cheese was extraordinary, again, as always.
BOMB!!! paid $55 for my rib eye.. the cuts range from 50-65 dollars for the most exp (though not necessarily the tastiest)
we had the spinach as a side (meh whatever)
the lobster macaroni (BOMB!!!)
calimari (BOMB!)
service is great! although i did notice that the people next to us got a different server but more importantly WAYYYYYY better service..
must have just been a more experienced server.
great steak if you're willing to spend about 70 dollars.

i've been here twice and have yet to be disappointed. the service & food are both excellent.
both times i had filet mignon and both times it was cooked to perfection. the calamari is perfect. the creme brulee is perfect. the key lime pie is perfect.
it's pricy, but considering the food & service, i think it's worth it.

First of all this place is one of the best Steakhouses in Miami. I took my wife to celebrate our anniversary. A bit of advise, order from the Miami Spice menu to get your $ worth. We both ordered the Caesar Salads, main courses were the Fillet Mignon, and desert was the Chocolate Cake, and Lemon Key Lime Pie. The pie was very tart, about the only negative dish we ordered. Our bill came out to $110.00 + tip. Definitely worth going again!
A must try are the Truffle Fries.

I had to wait until I picked up my own tab to review this place.... It sure looks pretty darn good when someone else is paying.
Well this time it was my turn and it was pricey - BUT - boy was it worth it !!!
I am always very pleased with good service and this place is ALWAYS top notch.
Now for the menu, I am a total 100% self proclaimed carnivore and my steak here is always hmmmmmm goooood !
The decor is classy and I like the wine lockers, nice touch-
Washed down my steak with a good single malt scotch as suggested by Justin P. and it was darn near perfect.
Done deal ! I am a fan !

No complain from me. I thought my rib eye was cooked to perfection, would definitely come again
Dissapointing :(
Food was great and the ambience impressive; however, our reservation was for 8:15PM and it was 10:05 when we were being served our salads!!
I did complain to the manager who handled it professionally and offered a kickback card for my next time (will I go back?) yet I expected them to be on "top of their game".

This was a wonderful dining experience. From the ambiance to the service, to the food...everything was excellent. Our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful with suggestions on wine, food, and desert and after dinner drinks. He was extremely knowledgeable and all of his recommendations we top-notch. The setting was nice and subdued (although I could do without the mounted animal heads), and much less stuffy than I'd anticipated.
To start we had the lobster bisque - the bisque itself was good but unremarkable except for the fact that the very generous portions of lobster in the bisque were pan seared beforehand, giving the soup a very different flavor than I've ever encountered. We also had the (seasonal) seared jumbo scallops wrapped in prosciutto. This might have been the highlight of the meal. They were tender and flavorful and cooked perfectly - probably the best scallops I've ever had.
For the main course, we ordered the sliced filet mignon with onions and wild mushrooms - tender and cooked to perfection. I had the porcini rubbed Delmonico which was delicious but a bit of an obscene-sized portion that took up the whole plate. The sides we chose were mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach - both excellent.
Choosing a desert was tough but we decided (based on our waiter's urging) on the cheesecake with seasonal berries. The cheesecake itself, with brown sugar brulee on top, was fluffy and delicious. The berries were indeed fresh and the strawberry puree that comes with it was the perfect compliment. We also had a most excellent vanilla cognac that was an ideal pairing for the dessert.
Wonderful experience. Would highly recommend it and look forward to going back.

The other reviews do a fine job of describing the ambiance and the quality of the food. Of all the big steak houses, this is one of my favorites because the food is consistently good.
More importantly, the reason Capital Grille wins over the rest, for me, is the Stoli Doli. Pineapple infused vodka, chilled and poured into a martini glass. It tastes like pure ice cold pineapple juice --- heaven.
Four stars only because the service is inconsistent -- I sometimes find the waitpersons too snooty. If I'm paying big bucks for a meal, can you at least PRETEND I'm not an idiot, please?

People say this place is stuffy and looks like a good-ol' boys club, but I love it. Great steak and great service--no doubt.
If you go, you should park in the garage. There is valet and regular parking. You take an elevator up one floor and you're on the ground level of one of the nicest restaurants in Miami. It's all mahogany with dark green accents. Frankly, it reminds me of an old-fashioned law firm except with a huge bar in the middle and of course, the delicious food.
The menu is your typical steakhouse menu and everything is good. I have experienced this restaurant as a dinner date, family dinner, and dinner with a group of friends. They even have private rooms if you really want to kick it up a notch. Anyway you come accompanied, I am sure you will not be disappointed.
I've seen people in jeans here, but that's not my style. You are going to be paying a price for your meal-- might as well look the part.

Very nice restaurant. Dress to Impress.. It is a bit pricey but if you're looking for a really good steak, its worth it! I went for my anniversary last year, and they had put rose pedals all over the table and we also had a card signed by all the waiters wishing us Happy Anniversary. They have a beautiful wine cellar as well. Also you can request to be seated near the window to get a beautiful view of Miami. The food was delicious! I'm not a big wine/champaigne drinker but they gave us a complimentary glass of champaigne which was pretty good as well. The service was very good too. Besides the fact that its a bit pricey, its a very nice restaurant with good food!

this capital is a nice place. Pat riley even has a locker at Capital Grill. However, the food is ok, and extremely over priced. i would pass, on this place if i were you
I used to think that Employees Only in Manhattan had the world's best macaroni & cheese because theirs involved gruyere and brie. The Capital Grille showed me that I was wrong: macaroni & cheese with lobster is where it's at.
No, seriously: people talk about the steaks, the wine list, the library-type atmosphere, and the wine lockers - those are all great - but they're missing the lobster mac & cheese.

It is all you expect from an upscale steak house, and it has never disappointed me. All of the food is fabulous, not just the steaks. They have a very good lobster bisque (not as good as Prime 112's, but very good just the same).
Speaking of lobster, my mother orders it wherever she goes, and she swears they have the best Maine lobster in Miami. They will take it out of the shell for you, but my mother brings her kitchen shears from home in her purse and prefers to handle the whole thing herself, thank you very much. (I prefer Florida lobster to Maine lobster anyday, and so I will defer to her knowledge on this subject.)
It has a gentleman's cigar room or library kinda feel to the decor, dark wood and leather.
And for desert, they have the best strawberry cheesecake I've ever had. (I like lighter rather than heavier).
Just make sure you don't fill up on the brown bread with the raisins before your real food comes. Or, on second thought, there are always doggie bags.

Everything I've ordered here has been excellent. Steaks are perfectly done and are really flavorful, the sides are delicious, the wait staff is very attentive and the prices aren't terribly high compared to what one might expect. One interesting feature is the racks of storage cabinets when you first enter. Each one is locked and has an engraved name plate listing the "owner", who usually stores bottles of wine or personal effects in them so they'll be here the next time they come to dine. Some of the name plates read like a "who's who" of Miami business people, politicians, etc.

This place is exquisite. I enjoyed everything we ordered. The food was spectacular. The lamb was great, the salmon was fresh, and the steaks are excellent! The wine list is incredible and the servers are awesome. Ryan was extremely good to us. Over all everything was great. The restaurant is beautiful from the bar area to dining room, and our table was perfect. When I get rich I'll be back.

If there is a den in the Bush family compound, it probably looks a lot like the Capital Grille. Beautiful, old-school boys' club decor. Excellent service and terrific food. Maybe a little stuffy, maybe a little pretentious, but a great place for a group of power brokers to enjoy a steak or some single-malt scotch.

This place is great but the steaks are overpriced, i have money and i can afford it but i think the best steakhouse is Ruth's Chris in Coral Gables, ill put this in 3rd.
Okay, so I know it's a chain, but man, do they make a good steak! We've visited Capital Grille in the past, and it has yet to disappoint. My hubby and I went recently for the Miami Spice menu on a Wednesday night. He had the Kona rubbed 10 oz. sirloin and I had the porcini 8 oz. filet. Absolutely delicious, both of them. Flavorful, juicy, and tender. When you have steaks this good, basic sides of mashed potatoes and mixed veggies do just fine. We capped it all off with their flourless chocolate espresso cake, which felt almost decadent after such great steaks. And with the Miami Spice menu, it didn't hurt our wallet too much.

Beautifull setting, very classy atmosphere.
The service, great, but not top notch... The waiter brought us the wrong bottle of wine, and by the time we noticed, it was already open and we didn't want to waste it. However - it was his responsibility to check the right wine was brought to the table (especially when at the end we were charged for the more expensive bottle we had originally ordered). The red wine was served at the perfect temperature - I will give them that!
The apetizers were good, but nothing to write home about. The surf and turf I had - eeeehm... I would have expected to be served this dish at Red Lobster perhaps, but not at a high-end restaurant like Capital Grille. The lobster was really tough and had no flavor. The filet was OK, but again, definitely nothing special. The best part of the dinner was the side of asparagus - so I guess that doesn't say much!!!
Love the Capital Grille, but this location needs A LOT of work.
I have been a loyal Capital Grille customer for more than a decade, routinely dining at the Providence, Washington DC, and Boston locations. I have always had impeccable service and have enjoyed my dining experiences with both business associates and family very much.
On a recent visit for dinner, however, I was thoroughly unimpressed and feel i was treated terribly. First, although I made a reservation using the OpenTable system, the reservation was not found. As a result, we were given a TERRIBLE table, shuffled off in an uncomfortable corner. The service we received from the waiter was mediocre to poor, with such annoyances as unrefilled
coffee for the dessert course and a feeling we were being rushed out the door after completing the meal. To add insult to injury, the Miami hostess called me the next day to see if I was dining that night. I informed her I had been there last night, as I reserved. She then informed me that I would then not receive the OpenTable points I deserved. Maddening!
I am shocked in the disparity in service as it is a stark difference
from other experiences I have had. I sincerely hope this is the exception and not the rule as far as the Capital Grille brand is concerned.
The manager at Miami made a half-hearted attempt to contact me regarding my concerns, but never returned my phone call. Unreal.

Teddy Roosevelt would feel totally at home in this good ol' boys environ of this ritzy steak house. The scenery is evocative of a gentleman's parlor with cigar smoking and cognac drinking taking place. The steaks were great and the sides were pretty delicious. I believe this restaurant also has room for its regular customers to keep their favorite wines or cigars but I can't remember. Big bucks perfect for taking your company rep and out-of-towners to if you're using your employer's credit card.

Typical steakhouse chain. Not the best of the genre, but not the worst. 3 stars.

A very classy steak restaurant for a special occassion. The restaurant is very spacious and the service is very good. The steaks are excellent, the calamari and the onion rings exceptional. With wine you'll spend some $$$$$. There is really not much near the restaurant, so you'll need to go somewhere else for entertainment. You can valet park in the garage downstairs.

Classic steakhouse chain for special occasions. Kind of like the Palm. I think everyone will always debate the merits of Ruth's Chris vs. Fleming's vs. Morton's vs. Smith Wollensky etc.
they definitely have large portions! funny thing is that the waiter told us that lunch sandwiches now came with fries instead of chips cuz no one ate the chips. gotta say, the fries weren't worth eating either. meanwhile my steak sandwich was not so much a steak sandwich (you usually expect slices or a thin piece) as it was a steak ON a sandwich. me and the other person who ordered it awkwardly laughed when we saw it. like "hehe this will be embarassing to try to eat". eventually we abandoned the "sandwich" concept and just ate the steak seperately. funny. service was minimal but pleasant. very cozy slightly stuffy feel to the place.
