Review from Greta K.
This place was so cool! I can't believe I've never been here before, but now that I have a child, I'm discovering all sorts of fun places in Massachusetts. I bought a groupon here in the summer good for a 2-for-1 admission and it expires on Halloween (the last day of the year they are open). Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting, but I was amazed at the hundreds of beautiful, colorful, and inspiring butterflies flying around. My seven-month-old isn't fascinated by much yet besides cats, but he enjoyed watching these amazing creatures. And I have to say that the Blue Morphos were my favorites.
The price is about $12 per person, which sounds a bit steep, but what a nice place to come. If I lived closer, I would certainly buy a year pass and come on over with an Enya playlist on my MP3 player and just...be. -

My son loves butterflies, so we met up with some friends there. He absolutely loved it! Very beautiful set-up with plants and flower to attract the butterflies. More than likely a butterfly will land on you. My son had some land on him about 3-4 times and loved it!
It is extremely warm in there for the butterflies and plants/flowers, so dress in layers if need be. It really is a beautiful experience and tons of different butterflies! Highly recommend it! Just be careful where you step. :) -

For a romantic afternoon, an atrium filled with sunlight, music, flowers, koi, finches, quail, and butterflies cannot be beat. The baby quail had just hatched, and I lost count at ten different butterfly species that I personally photographed.
Before entering the atrium, there's a learning center that features live exhibits of various species of moths and butterflies at various points in their life cycles. These are not just exhibits; these are the actual livestock breeding areas where the butterflies and moths live before entering the atrium. We saw a cecropia moth larva power-chowing on a leaf as if it was corn on the cob, and watched painted lady butterflies laying their tiny blue eggs.
The atrium is a magical place. It's humid in there, so don't bring a sweater!
The sister site in Deerfield is larger and has an extensive set of gift shops and a cafeteria. The staff in Westford is incredibly friendly, genuinely passionate about butterflies, and helped me to choose a luna moth cocoon for our mom. (She loved it; it's going to hatch soon, and she'll set the lovely pale green moth free!) -

What an amazing place! This is the 2nd time I've gone here and had a terrific time! The minute you open the door it's like the scene from Willy Wonka when they open the door to the The Chocolate Factory!
Butterflies Everywhere! If you just sit on the bench and be still butteflies will fly on you and you'll get some fantastic pictures! They even had a praying mantis! You are not allowed to touch them unless they land on you.
The gift shop was pretty empty. They were wiped out. They really need to stock up on some good gifts. I really would have bought a Butterfly Place sweatshirt. I was bummed. But otherwise, this place was definitely worth the hour and 15 minute trip and I'll definitely be back for sure! -

I love butterflies. Mentioned in my other butterfly experience from Niagara, I used to run around the park with a butterfly net and catch butterflies. Now, cities are becoming more industrialized and I don't get to see butterflies as much.
I came here with my sisters and nephews a few months ago. They were here on vacation so they were looking for activities to do. I've been wanting to come here for over a year now, I decided to pick this place. When we first walked in there was a gift shop, the worker pointed the directions to the butterfly room. We actually got lost for a second, lol. Usually they have a 15 minute video that explains the butterflies' life cycle but the video was off.
When we walked into the butterfly room, I was excited. I was expecting a big place since I went to the Niagara Butterfly Exhibit, but this was actually really small. The admission was $12 for adults, and $7 for ages 3+. They have a good amount of butterflies and many different kinds. However, we did not know which was what. I wished they gave us a sheet that explains each one. It was really relaxing, the inside was a green house so it was very warm. They play soothing music similar to meditation. The next time I come, I should bring a book to read and relax with the butterflies.
My nephew had a great time, he ran in circles looking at one butterfly, then to the next.
After we exited we saw cacoons. We wanted to buy a hatching kit but it would take way too long for them to hatch (around 3-4 weeks), plus by that time, my nephew and sis would be gone.
Can't wait to visit again. Enjoy the photos I've uploaded! -

What a good idea! Went on a gloomy wintery Saturday afternoon and was instantly cheered up! There were tons of butterflies that actually sat still for you to admire/take pictures. Some great flowers and birds intermixed in the garden as well.
The actual Butterfly room is a very humid (be prepared!) and rather small and pricey for the amount of time spent there ($12 for adults; we lingered for about an hour). Yet, the unique experience is well worth it. I think I will definitely go back.
It is a great alternative to a zoo or the aquarium. -

My husband and I brought our son here yesterday. He loves butterflies. I love butterflies. My husband kind of likes butterflies. So off we went, and I'm glad we did. It wasn't too expensive, and it was a good way to spend a Sunday morning. My son and I were fascinated at the amount and variety of butterflies and my husband was happy our toddler wasn't freaking out. It was a good day and we'll be back.

This was a fun stop on the way home from Nahant, MA. Little small and expensive but very cool. Educational and exciting at the same time.. One landed on me and one kissed my daughter's face with its wings. Would definitely go again if in the area

This place is so amazingly cool. An huge indoor solarium filled with tropical plants and flowers and hundreds of real living BUTTERFLIES flying around, some even landing on your shoulder.
The huge atrium, is abt 27 feet tall and filled with colorful plants and shrubs to further the development of these fragile creatures.
I brought my mother here years ago and she loved it.
They have a small gift shop as well as an out door picnic area so people can enjoy.
The hours a strange, so I copied and pasted them from their website, http://www.butterflypl...

There are kinds of butterflies that you've never even heard of. They have lots of them at the butterfly place.
It's wonderful to walk through their hot house and watch a butterfly float right past you. The place isn't very big, but it's so pretty there and the staff will tell you all about the lives of butterflies.
They have a separate tent in which they have parties. You can have birthday parties, bridal showers, etc. in it. -

This is such a beautiful place! It's such a wonderful collection of butterflies and also has a lot of educational value both inside and outside the main exhibit. The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable. They have great scavenger activities to the kids and you can stay for as long as you want which is amazing. I went during the winter which was nice because the climate change is amazing but I'd imagine it may get a bit too hot during the summer.
