At first I was a little worried, but my mother who eats only Korean food had said it was good and I should try it.  I figured that if my only Heatlhy/Korean food eating mother really likes these burgers, they've got to be doing something right.

We ordered the teriyaki burger for my dad and I ordered the california burger for myself.  They press their meat daily and apparently the owner insists on only top grades of meat to be ground.  You can really taste the difference.  It's definitely not as greasy as most burgers.  The avocado was fresh and the bacon thick and juicy.  Did I mention they also make their fries from real potatoes and cut those daily as well?  YUM!!!!!!!!  I'm not a huge sugar buff but my father tried the shakes and it was delicious.  They are thick and made with real fruit.  I couldn't believe this kind of food was coming out of a tiny "hole in the wall" type of place.  It is so worth the drive!

At first I was afraid... There was NO ONE inside the joint. It's 12noon, the kiddies had been here with Mr. and they said it was good, so I said aiight..

The menu looks yummy! ALL kinds of burger's... I went for the shouldn't fail Bacon Cheese Burger... The menu boasts hand patted patties... And they deliver scrumptious deliciousness! You need extra napkins cause they're really juicy.. The portion sizes are ENORMOUS, the fries are hand cut with the skin on them still, I heart this place. I will be back.

Next visit I'm gonna try the Bro Burger, the menu says it has a hotlink sausage with all the fixin's..

OH! And by the time we got our food, the place was packed! We got there JUST in time before the lunch rush..

There's no shortage of decent burger places in the area, but you have to love a place that actually makes the patties by hand, instead of getting them frozen in a box from a factory. I think that's one of the things that makes Burger Express unique.

There's nothing about the food and the service that I haven't liked about this place the few times I've gone (okay, so don't use the drive-thru), and I'd give it five stars if the juke box worked, and the bathroom appliances were all operational (note: the bathrooms are clean, no problem there, but the urinal was out of order and the towel dispenser empty last time I visited).

Greasy and soggy best describe the food here.  I used to really like this place but I think my palate has grown up.  I still like the deep fried mushrooms (but they are on the pricey side) and the shakes.  Even Satan said that the food was to greasy........... Thinking if I really want a decent burger - I now have to drive to my yelp find - Pick Quick in Fife,

Hand cut fries with skins still on were good, but the burger was tasteless.

Here is the breakdown BOMC style:

Bun - Franz commercial

Beef - variety thin, tough patty with good char, but not thick enough to taste any beefy goodness.

Veggies - Shredded iceberg on a slather of mayo with thin slices of tomato and onion (good bun coverage) and several bland pickles.

Cheese - Kraft American? Some other burgers have a swiss option, ours didn't for some reason.

Fries - In and Out style so you get a whole spud in every order... some pieces small and crispy others large and creamy.

Soda, Peak Iced Tea, and a beer fridge.

I've only been there a couple of times but I truly enjoyed my burgers both times.  The first time I went, I had the Boz.  What was I thinking?!?!  That thing was freaking tasty but bigger than my head.  Needless to say, I didn't finish it.  Second time I went, I had The Fair burger or some such name like that.  My old age is making me forget...anyway, that was probably my favorite one because it had a hot link on top of a burger.  Seriously?!? Pork ON beef?!? Oh yeah...and it was goooood.  Their shakes are yummy, their fries are just as good.  I had their onion rings the second time I went but eh...they weren't that great, I almost compare them to The BK rings.  Ah well, you can't do everything well.

Yet another Federal Way hidden gem.  Bam.

If I weren't scared to weigh a half ton, I'd eat here more often.

One of the best burgers in the area, they have a big one too if you are after that.  The fries are also very good.  I have tried several of the different burgers, all very good

I was sooo incredibly excited to try here.
I read really good reviews but was shocked and quite irritated when I pulled up to the drive-thru and the menu was significantly less than what I'd read it would be on here.
There were a few different burger choices, none of those burger combos with the cool names on the menu in the drive-thru (couldn't go inside because I had a sleeping child in the backseat)
I ordered 2 burgers, 2 fries, a chicken strip combo and an order of deep fried mushrooms...
After waiting OVER 15 minutes, STUCK IN THE DRIVE-THRU... I was handed like 5 bags, all soaked with grease, and nasty soaked greasy food on the inside.  - even the burger buns were soaked with grease.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a traveler.. I've eaten at some rather unsavory places before... diners, dives... greasy spoons... but this place...
I was SORELY disappointed and definately will not be back....  Id rather eat twigs.... or just drink a jug of canola oil myself.

In a word...Fantastic.

To put it mildly, the burgers at this place are awesome.  Normally, I wait until trying at least three things before putting up a review, but after mushroom swiss and boz burgers from here, there is really no need to wait.  The burgers here are great and just might be the best in the area.  The fries are good, but the onion rings are better.  If you're craving a burger and you're in the area, there's really no other place to go.

I love their variety of milk shakes. This is the only place I know of where I can get my favorite flavor - Root Beer Milk Shake.

The hamburgers taste like the kind you make at home.

Great burger!  Plain and simple.  They have about 20 odd different varieties and even the pickiest burger eater should be able to find something here.  I ordered a plain cheeseburger and it was delicious.  The fries were a bit greasy for my taste, but at least they tasted fresh and authentic instead of the chemical-laden monstrosities at Mickey D's.  The strawberry banana shake was also yummy.
I plan to return many times in the future.   If their basic cheeseburger tasted this good,  I'm looking forward to trying some of the other variations.

Best Burgers in Western Washington!  They have burgers to fill the biggest appetite.  The BOZ is amazingly big, with meat, cheese, and so much other stuff that I can't remember all of what is on it, better be hungry for this one, I settle for the Mountain High with meat, cheese and ham - it fills me up.  The burgers are completely messy, if you don't eat them over your plate, you will be sorry.  But then, isn't that the true sign of a great burger?

Back when I could take the sugar, the shakes were the best.  If you feel adventuresome, ask for the potato salad instead of the fries - I kick myself when I forget - but the fries are good enough, it is a very light kick.  When you are any where near Federal Way and like burgers, this is a must stop place.

We were stuck driving through Federal Way today (UGH!) because traffic was seemingly backed up all over the state of Washington.  Oh yeah, we were also hungry.  Thankfully, this terrible city has a gem in its midst with The Burger Express.  We walked in and the place was small with a few booths and tables and a GIANT menu hanging from the ceiling.  We perused the menu momentarily and picked predictable, for us, burgers.  I chose the Bacon Cheeseburger and the husband chose the California burger.  The patties are all hand pressed daily and 1/4 pound in size.  For 2 dollars extra you can bump it up to a hefty 1/2 pound.  The buns came buttered and toasted which certainly delighted my tastebuds.  The burger itself was juicy and flavorful but not at all greasy.  The bacon on my burger was pleasantly substantial with just enough crispiness to add a nice texture to the overall experience.  The burger is served with a giant mound of skin on fries that weren't greasy at all.  I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a little more grease to go around so the salt would at least stick to them because they needed it.  Overall, a great little place, and like the sign inside says, it's the ONLY independent burger joint in Federal Way.

Writing this review cause of all the other great reviews.  It was a Saturday around 3pm and I decided to try it after driving past this small place for many years.   It looks like a big wood cabin-ish house with a juke box, some pictures of Elvis and a small TV which had a tennis game on at the time.  They had an outdoor patio with sunshade as well.  The menu didn't really explain what each burger was but I'm sure I could have asked.   They did have a Bison burger that I will probably try next.

I tried the Boz Burger.  1/2 pound of beef patty and wow, This thing was 6-7" in diameter, completely huge.  It came with the works,  orange American cheese, some other processed white cheese also (American?), mushrooms, slice of thin ham, bacon, beef patty, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayo.   I would say it's enough to cut in half for two people.  It came wrapped in huge foil and I love that,  no car spillage!  I got the large onion rings with it and they were big sliced, extremely tasty and crispy hot.   Tartar sauce was .25c and one is enough.

I would definitely recommend if you like a good old fashioned monster size burger and aren't worried about calories.

Burgers.  They have a lot of burgers here.  From the mundane (Cheeseburger) to the slightly exotic (Buffalo Burger).  They have burgers with hot links and burgers with grilled onions.  This place also has a pretty good chili dog.  If you ever find yourself down in the "Way" and happen to pass by, make sure you order yourself a burger and a shake.  Do yourself a favor and skip the fries.  The burger is more than enough food, but I just didn't really like the fries.  Oh yeah, they have deep fried mushrooms on the menu!  Mmmm...deep fried....mushrooms....

The best burgers around.  Definitely the best in South King County.  I can never decide which is my favorite, the fair burger, teriyaki, or the cali burger.  Their fries are fresh and GREASY.  There's no heatlh food here.  If you go all out, their shakes are awesome too.  During the holidays they have Pumpkin and eggnog flavors.  There is no other burger place quite like it.  And they've remodeled the dining area so it's a lot less junky.

I really liked this place.  One of the better burgers I have had in a long time, and unlike a previous review, I really liked the frys.  The only thing I found missing was fry sauce.  Having lived in Arizona for the last 19 years and just now moving back home, I really have missed fry sauce.

Burger Express makes a very good burger. It's juicy, it's seasoned properly, and the toppings are top notch. In the fast food tier, this just might be the best burger in the Seattle area. I have yet to find a better one. The menu is huge, both physically and with the number of burger choices. You can order some pretty interesting variations on the basic hamburger here. The fries are made fresh but single fried. To me, this is a negative. It's difficult to get a crispy fry this way without cooking the life out of it. Expect fairly dark greasy fries that are still not quite crispy. One word of warning... Their standard burgers are an appropriate size. If you choose to up-size to the half pound version, more than just the patty gets bigger. The bun gets up-sized and all of the toppings do too. I tried it and found it a little fatiguing to eat. It actually detracted from how good the burger was. From now on, I'll stick with the standard size. Too much of a good thing is not a good thing.
