The Bunkhouse
1 review for The Bunkhouse
The owners greeted us very nicely and were helpful and friendly. The reservation was correct and made online with ease. Unfortunately, this property is directly on the busy highway 12 and the noise from the road is quite loud. The rustic cabins are VERY rustic, small and simple .....barely able to have a double bed and table inside comfortably. There is a heater but no air conditioner, which would have helped dampen the highway noise, although there is a portable fan in the room. The log construction is charmingly rough hewn but the ceiling mysteriously left bare unpainted plywood and unattractive. My partner said this reminded him of his fathers tool shed! The double bed was very uncomfortable and had the bad feeling of lumps and metal springs. The grounds are rather small and not particularly well landscaped other than some shade trees and the property is shared with campers in tents. I am grateful that they allow pets (although i was not traveling with one), as many places do not allow them but several large dogs were barking rather loudly nearby and were bothersome at times. The communal shower/rest rooms were untidy and lacking basic soap although they did have adequate toilet paper,HOT water and pressure. However, the front door does not close completely and when someone enters, there is no privacy inside if you are standing in the small room drying off from the shower exposed to the complete view of outside world . If you value a QUITE nights sleep,a comfortable bed and privacy with your bathing, then I suggest you stay elsewhere. We stayed one night and checked out early.
