Dining in the old Vault of a Bank.  That's cool.  It could have been even cooler if the place was given a sort of face-lift to attract the younger, hipper crowd.  But ya know, you get what you get.  So ....

Old school.  Old school steak and potatoes.  Old school steak, mac'n'cheese, lobster risotto and how about starting off with a bowl of peel & eat shrimp (comes with every meal) ... I shit you not....

And let me say they do *not* skimp when it comes to portions.  The prices are hefty but so are the meals.  Steak.  Steak.  More steak.  Hope you like steak.  I do.  I have to admit that the sides were prepared with 'better quality' than my steak.  The cut of filet was not tender enough; however, my side of mac'n'cheese distracted me enough ...  The desserts?  Well, let's just say that I ordered the "special" bread pudding.  Hrmmmmm.  Special maybe because they made it with thinly sliced white bread?  I dunno - guess I'm spoiled.

I wonder what they'd say if we just ate the complimentary bowl of peel & eat shrimp and ordered a bottle of wine???  ;)

sorry this is the only 1 star I've given but here we go. went for a friends birthday and started out in the bar for appetizers/ happy hour. they had $5 martinis but made w McCormick's and select $5 Appetizers there was a good selection but the calamari cam out in a clump just as it was shaped in the frozen bag, and the ribs had so much fat on them that wasn't trimmed no one wanted to touch them, so i continued to enjoy my martini. last call for happy hour the waitress (or bartender) took 20 min to get our last round while  we sat w empty glasses i'm not exaggerating either... i saw her walk through the dining room and snap her fingers and say shoot when she walked by our table. which led me to believe she forgot I was going to walk to the bar but my friend wouldn't let me. then we got gin instead of vodka and the waitress didn't even know which was which turned out we got 3gin and 1 vodka and it should have been 3 vodka and 1 gin. then it took another 5 min to correct the issue...
Entrees: I had the trout $41the risoto was mushy and overcooked and so was the trout that was cooked to a crisp and covered in cinnamon??? I should have sent it back but didn't want to cause anymore of a stink after complaining how long it took to get my second drink. so I didn't eat it and just paid for it.
Everyone else that ordered steak and potatoes enjoyed their meal, the guy sitting next to me said his was "ok" but not for $57.
Bottom line OK so your friend gets a free birthday meal and everyone else has to pay over inflated prices for a below average meal... its easy to see why this place is a has been...

The Broker lunch and happy hour specials are awesome! Happy hour starts at noon and ends at 6:30 all week long. Happy hour drinks are cheap... bloody marys, glasses of wine, and beer for two dollars. I had the salmon caesar salad for lunch and they didn't skimp on the size just because of the price. It was delicious. My friends had the fish-n-chips... huge portions for the price. Incredible! The decor is definitely old school, but that adds to the ambiance. It's a great place... definitely a hidden gem.

I was told that The Broker Restaraunt was a cool place to go..so, I went. They were right...This old bank building was really great...The service was good too....I wish I could say the same for the meal.
I had the lamb and found it to be just O.K...did not like having to pay a la carte for my potato side when the cost of the lamb was high..but ya win some....blah blah blah...I did like my vodka martini...very velvet like.
A table next to me had a problem with the check...I know this because the woman who's check it was made sure any one within shouting distance knew about it...for me this just made my experience there a little better...a free dinner show....huh...who'd a thonk it..

My Aunt Dale dined here on here trip from Florida and could not give greater accolades. I went on my birthday, and must tell you it is overrated and over-priced. Nothing even stands out as "Wow." I would much rather go to the Chop House for almost half the price.

History

Established in 1972

The Broker Restauant is located in one of the most beautiful buildings
in downtown Denver. It was the headquarters for the Ideal Cement Company
and also housed the DenverNational Bank. You may dine in the original vault
or one of the cozy booths that is where the gold mine or railroad bond holders
clipped their coupons on their bonds over 100 years ago. We have tried to preserve
it for you to enjoyl

We love to do tours and do so daily.
The most famous of our entertainers to the US President's families
have dined at The Broker.  Larry Bird said in his book that we are
his favorite restaurant. Much of  "Raise The Titantic" was written in
our lounge by Clive Cusslier.  Luciaono Pavoratti enjoyed our
Filet Wellington so much that he stood up and clapped and said
"I give you a standing ovation"....truly, one of the high lights of our
lives at The Broker.
