Definitely a beer fanatic's dream but for me, a person that only occasionally enjoys a good beer, it was a little overwhelming. The two beers I tried were pretty tasty.
We also had the Ale fingers, hummus and fish and chips. Overall, good food.
Service was very pleasant as well and it's a good place to chat up some random white chicks... hehehe.

So much can be said for the Brick Store. It has a world-renowned beer list, including a wonderful selection of high quality American beer, British beer, Irish beer, German beer, other random beer, and a massive selection of Belgian beer. Absolutely wonderful place to have a drink.
There is also good wine, if you are a fan of such things.
The food is good, especially the Brunswick stew in a bread bowl, which is marvelous.
There is always good service. The servers are friendly, and they know their beer; they can usually recommend new things for you to try.

Nice pub-y feel (there is really no way to spell that without looking like I'm referring to pubic hair, sorry)--lots of wood everywhere, almost feels kind of grimy, but in a good way, etc, you know the type of atmosphere.
I was very impressed by the beer list. Appreciated the brief descriptions which help the less-experienced tasters of us. Last time I got something described as "full of bananas." They trust that you're smart enough not to take that literally. I like that. They think I'm smart.
I won't give it a higher star rating because while the food I've had there is amazing, there isn't enough of it. I understand the emphasis is on the beer, but I wish there were more in the way of hearty entrees than just Brunswick stew and some pasta dishes, none of which come with meat, unless you want to add sausage--there is no option to add chicken. Though I must admit, I never thought sausage would taste good with a pesto pasta dish, but I trusted my server when she said it would and it did.

The beer list will blow your mind. They also have Pappy Van Winkle's 20 year kentucky bourbon which means that they love me and want me to be happy.
It has a beautiful, cozy interior, all soft and glowy and burnished wood. The begian room upstairs is cool and the bartenders will walk you through all the varieties (and let you taste them). The menu isn't like AMAZING or anything, but it's got good fall and winter standbys that never fail- fish and chips, brunswick stew, burgers.
I've been thinking about this place a lot for the fall and winter. It's like that Christmas scene in A Christmas Carol except you're in it and drunk and it's now and not 19th century London. Like that.
I have been to the Brick Store quite a few times. The beer menu is just out of this world. I stick to high gravity beers and they are plentiful. The bartenders and waiters are really top notch people that will treat you really well.
As for the food, the waiter informed me, "there is cheese in the veggie burger." As a vegan that line is hard to swallow. However, I was told that the wraps can be requested without the yogurt so I was deliciously satisfied. My frown went upside down. The wrap was really good and filling.
The atmosphere is symbolic of what downtown Decatur is all about. Cool hipsters running a mock. Whether you go for lunch, dinner, or after work drinks, TBSP delivers a unique feeling that is not to be missed.

Brick Store has an extensive and laudable beer list, but it's almost always jam-packed, and the service usually suffers. Painfully. The food is pretty good for pub fare (if your order ever makes it to your table), and the decor would potentially create a comfy, rustic, atmosphere if the place weren't such a chaotic clusterf***.
I can't hate on a place for being popular, and I'm happy for them for their success. And apparently there's no shortage of folks who don't mind waiting for 45 minutes to be packed in like sardines in a loud, crowded restaurant with spotty service... I'm just not one of them. If it's a slow night there, or if you don't mind waiting around, then this is a good local place to try some new beer.
Also, since it's in downtown Decatur, parking is virtually non-existent most nights.

I hated to have to do it, but my lone 5-star review is now officially dropped to a 4-star (and is rushing towards the 3-star range). The issue: service. While the waitstaff is generally great and posess a knowledge of and passion for beer that is second to none, my last three visits have gone poorly. Orders are coming out wrong, items are forgotten, it takes 15 minutes of staring at empty glasses to get a simple check, etc.
It's probably just the crowds are overwhelming this gem, but management is going to have to add some folks to the front & back of the house to keep the quality from slipping even further.
Oh, and the new pretzels can't hold a candle to the old ones. But the mustard sauce is still made with crack, so it somewhat balances out.

So many reviews for this place already, so here's a quick one:

Huge beer list with lots of Belgians, microbrews and some local favorites; anything you want in a beer, you can get here. On a rainy afternoon, the Highland oatmeal porter hit the spot.
Also, they have an interesting and reasonably priced selection of aged and rare beers - you can try JW Lees from various years for much less than other places charge.
I liked our apps - warm pretzels with grainy mustard and a tomato and feta dip - better than the somewhat pedestrian sandwiches. The beer is the real star of the show here.

My favorite pub in atlanta. best beer selection. great atmosphere. food is great too.
Finally, I went to Brick Store. I was in beer heaven (beer belly, here I come). The inside was decorated with a medieval theme, and the door in the restaurant was an impressive huge log or something (I hope to gosh that was not part of an animal).
The upstairs was where I would dwell were I to drink several beers there (oh wait, I did do that)... My reasoning for this is I am a Belgian beer fan and, well, that is where those little beers I love to drink abide. However, we stayed outside because upstairs was extremely loud and I was not trying to replay my college days in loudass bars all over again.
Speaking of college, this pub really reminded me of a college bar... Sure, the decorations were more upscale, but the crowdedness of this joint was-- wow! I think they should have more than 2 bathrooms as well... I mean, a bunch of beer drinkers and two toilets? What do they think, few people were going to break the seal? It was ok though, the bathroom is decorated nicely and has the oddest hand dryer I have ever seen (were I more drunk, I probably would not know how the hell to use it).
In regards to the food (I know, gross, I am going from toilets to food), it was really good bar food. The french fries (Fish n' Chips, whatever, those are fries in my book) were awesome, as with the Hummus, pita chips, and Brie served with apples and cucumber appetizers. Primarily, though, I was drinking my dinner so I did not opt for an entree.
I will certainly go back, hopefully when it is less crowded to get more of a new favorite beer- Weyerbaucher Belgian (though, if you like darker beers, the Weyerbaucher Dunkel was really good too)... It tasted like a mix of Blue Moon and LeinenKugel (which happen to be my two faves)... Plus, I gotta give more lovin' to my birthplace of Decatur!!!

Great place for lovers of beer to sample quite an impressive menu. Unfortunately, I'm more of a liquor girl, but I found the vodka soda I ordered to be really strong for only $5.35. Svedka is their well vodka, and I can't complain. Anyways, people like me probably won't appreciate Brick Store as much as those that enjoy a good Belgian draft.
I like the laid back pub environment, and this is a cool place to hangout, particularly if you can get a table. I came here on a nice summer night, and there was over an hour and a half wait for a table. Standing around was awkward and cramped, particularly with the low ceilings and minimal maneuvering space upstairs. We eventually got seated outside on some uncomfortable wooden stools, but the open air was nice. The food ordered was decent, especially the hummus.
Parking sucks, and I circled the area for at least 15 minutes - definitely a deterrent for coming back often. In my opinion, it's all about the company. If I didn't have such a great time with such a fun group of people, I'm not sure this is a place I'd make one my regular hangouts.

I came here with some friends and was very impressed at the vast selection of beers and the very reasonable prices. The service was good and they were very accommodating to our large party. The parking however is horrible. No places in their lot that has meters, we had to park about a half mile away at the CVS and walk up. They were also out of three of my beer choices, so that lost them a star :-( But overall, a good experience.

Awesome. Decatur's beer bar.
Good watering hole, vast selection of beer, decent food. Carrying on a conversation can be challenging due to ambient noise.
Home to those who wax poetically about beer served in "proper glassware" - if that's your thing.
amazing.
go for some great beers you cant get just about anywhere. really great food and a cool atmosphere... if you go on afriday plan on waiting outside for like 1 hour...but hey...as long as you have a drink...who cares!

When I tell most people that I'm a fan of the Brick Store, they look at me quizzically. See, I don't drink beer (nor wine), and the primary appeal of the Brick Store is their clipboarded, multi-page-with-tiny-fonted beer list.
I am, however, someone who loves to eat food, and the Brick Store provides ample tasty offerings on that front--I always try to get the pretzels. As someone else may have noted in a review, the pretzels have changed since my last visit--where they were once golden and evenly boiled/fried/however-pretzels-are-prepared, now they're....not. But the pretzel texture and taste remain, and the brown mustard condiment provided on the side is a sharp constant spicy tasty.
Since I always manage to tag along with beer connoisseurs, I know that the servers are always very knowledgeable about their products (which is why you'll frequently find them out of specific beers), and they're always pretty quick to respond to an order.

So I decided to write a review after about 437 visits. This place is the place where I bring all out-of-towners to in Atlanta. It's my fav hands down on many levels;
1st level - beer. best menu in town and also some of the best prices on the high gravities.
2nd level - food. their chicken salad has crack laced throughout making it a delightful treat...often times i eat one and then convince a table-mate to go in on another sandwich with me. it creates a moderate amt of feaning so take caution.
3rd level - staff. always very beer smart and friendly. if they are not friendly it typically means they are really busy and are a bit stressed out...this place is always nutz and at times i imagine it can be stressful to work at. but all good peoples.
4th and final level. Owners. They are not pricks. they get the local business thing and are an example to others in how to run something.
go here. go here often.

Hummmmmmmmmmmus!
I'm not sure that there is much I can say that someone else hasn't pointed out, but it is one of my favorite spots in Decatur. A quick drive from my house, free or cheap parking near by, and yummy food and drinks rank it pretty high.
On my most recent visit I had the pleasure of devouring their Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. It is by far some of the best hummus that I have ever eaten. The key is that they make it fresh in-house. It was the perfect combination of pepper and garlic for my taste buds. My plate came out full of crudité and pita points and a large portion of hummus. I was able to eat until stuffed and share with my friends.
We were able to snag the front table by the windows in the corner and it was a great day to glance out upon some of Decatur's finest. We were served quickly and there was never a moment that we needed something that we weren't able to get quickly. There were two servers making sure that our drinks were full and our belly's were happy. The beer list is extensive and different beers were sampled at our table (I was drinking wine that day, it was pretty good wine, but the beer steals the show). We all left with smiles on our faces and still had money in our pockets due to the fair price for the great food.

What the hell happened with the Pub? I visited on occaission, primarily because they had Spaten on tap - this just happens to be my favorite brew. Last trip, no Spaten, no Pilsner Urquell - in short, a really shortened list of beers available.
Sure, I know it is a hassle to keep all those beers going but after all, you do charge for it, n'est ce pas? Not to mention I know of no place in metro ATL that has Kronenberg available - if someone knows please tell me.
Attention all beer lovers! Brick Store (or Tavern as we've called it for a while) has the best beer selection and the most knowledgeable staff in the Metro area. I have been a devout fan for years. It is one place where I go and meet several people, just by talking about beer. Guys, please realize that women know about beer too!
The fish and chips are yummy and they have an outstanding veggie burger. There are several yum's on the menu, but the real attention getter is the beer and atmosphere. Yes, there is a wait sometimes. Busy, popular, great places in the area have that. I have never had any problems with service due to the many people packing in the place. My mom once (or twice, or three times) told me that patience is a virtue.
I like the brick store pub. I like going there when I need to seriously chill. Looking to watch your favorite sports team? Forget about it. There are no large screen tvs plastered about. None downstairs. I don't recall if there is one upstairs. But what they do have is great beer and atmosphere. I've seen a couple of excellent looking salads, but I generally take a pass on ordering food there. Do you like Belgian beers? They have a bunch. Few places in the South East can compete with their beer selection and quality of beers. Definitely worth a visit.

The food and beer selection at Brick Store is top-notch. Aside from the insane crowds (I don't enjoy having to yell in order for the people sitting at my table to hear me), my biggest issue is with the staff.
The first time, one of my dining companions ordered a beer that is supposed to be drunk at room temperature. When he got his beer cold, he inquired about it, and the server very curtly responded that all their beers are served at "beer temperature." (1. WTF is that? 2. Not all beers are supposed to be cold.)
Later on I brought two of my friends because they home-brew and I hoped they would be impressed with the beer selection. When they asked our server what she recommends, she responded that she "doesn't really drink beer." (Um, then why are you working at a beer bar?)
I haven't been back to Brick Store since then. Hopefully they can actually hire some people who know beer!

best gastropub on earth!
they have vintage beers! they have obscure beers! No budlight in sight! LOVE IT! good selection of everything thing else to imbibe in.make sure you have a d.d.
I've landed at The Brick Store Pub many times and the thing that always strikes me is they never fail to be packed and busy. The ambiance is awesome and if you're lucky I suggest pulling up a stool at the downstairs bar.
The beer selection is likely the longest in Atlanta and probably what continues to draw the crowd. The food is above par for pub grub and the I suggest getting the cheese plate or pretzels.
Many people don't explore the upstairs is where the Belgium beer bar is. I highly recommend walking up there and often times this is where you can find a spot when the place gets crowded.
Overall a good experience. I wish it wasn't so crowded, but I guess that means its good.
While the food here is good, people come for the beer and the pub-like atmosphere. It can be a hassle to find parking, much less a table. It's worth at least one visit, and one is always left impressed with the extensive beer list, but it can be extremely packed in (fire code violation kind of packed in) and extremely loud. Definitely NOT the best place for a group coming out late at night, but it's fine for a couple of people meeting up for a beer or two.
I've never had anyone on the waitstaff behave rudely towards me as other reviewers had, but considering that the servers have to shove their way through the thick mobs of unmoving customers and can probably hardly hear themselves, it's likely that after a point enough is enough. Benefit of the doubt in this case - I know I get irritated having to ask my friends to repeat themselves for the tenth time.
If you're wanting to try some different beers, this is one of the best spots in Atlanta. However, if you want to have a conversation or a large party, go elsewhere. The beer and food is enough for me to give this spot a four, but I debated a three due to the noise levels and lack of seating (again, I swear the fire code must be violated daily in this place!).
Would of been 5 stars, but they can improve a little.
I've been going to the Brick Store for a while now and always leave happy... usually with a nice buzz going. Saturday was their Anniversary, 12 Kegs in 12 hours celebration, 12p-12a where they had some of the most delicious beers brewed!
I got there at about 2:45pm meeting up with my buddies who had been there since 11:30am. Our first server (don't remember his name) was awesome, he truly took care of us. Once his shift was up our new server was Marty I believe, who was just awful and failed to procure us the 5pm beer before it ran out! My buddy ordered food and waited 45 minutes before having to ask the server about it, who I assume forgot to enter it. The temperature also was unbearable upstairs!
Everyone at the table, even those that just stopped in to say hi, felt the heat! After a couple hours and several drinks the heat was a lot more tolerable. They finally tried adjusting the AC but it sadly didn't make a difference.
I still absolutely adore The Brick Store and will definitely return, just felt Saturday needed a mention.
Oh ya, they also changed their pretzel recipe that I am NOT a fan of. The mustard is still amazing, pretzels not so good anymore imo.

Best Beer selection in the SE. A wonderful staff, very educated and definitely into their beer. The food is above par, but the serving sizes are a little small.
It's always crowded which is a great thing, ensuring that they'll stay in business.
Convenient to the Decatur Marta Station too.
I would give this place 4.5 stars. The food is decent-- had the burger with bacon and it was decent, but the reason you come here is for the beer selection. They have a decent selection of beers on tap, and a ridiculous selection of beer by the bottle-- you can find almost anything here. I liked the interior as it looked like a typical pub. Prices were decent for both the food and the beers.
Best beer, best turkey avocado sandwich (I don't even like turkey nor sandwiches, except this one!) and best fries...
this place is perfect for a nice dinner and nice conversation, I love it!
The staff is great and generally you find all kind of customers eating/drinking.
It does get crowded, and sometimes the parking gets filled up.
I love the atmosphere of Brick Store Pub and the interior design- especially upstairs. The beer selection is AWESOME.
However, our waiter on two occasions was rude. Almost like they were too alternative or cool for my friends and I.
This is easily my favorite bar in metro Atlanta, and should be a destination for anyone who enjoys sampling beer from around the country as well as the entire world. The Bud Light/fruity drink crowd will probably not get much out of the Brick Store, though they do keep a few good wines available as well as a very good selection of scotch and whiskeys.
It does get crowded on weekend nights, so plan accordingly. The wait for a table can take a while but if the weather is nice sitting at one of the sidewalk tables with a nice beer passes the time quickly.
The Brick Store offers a constantly rotating list of very high quality beers on tap: local to Georgia, domestic U.S. craft brews and selections from around the world. Generally there is at least one "real ale" available (conditioned in and pulled from a real cask as is the traditional style in England). In recent years a second set of Belgian taps were added in a new upstairs bar which raised the level even further. If you still can't find what you want on tap, their huge book of available bottled beer is mesmerizing.
The food served here is what I would consider traditional pub food, but of a much higher quality than you'd expect from an establishment specializing in beer.
The real reason to visit though is the beer. For beer connoisseurs it is a destination, even for those from out of town. The Brick Store stands up to similar establishments in larger cities and deserves recognition as one of the best places to have a beer in the Southeast.

I don't drink -- but this is by far one of my fav places EVAR! And yes, it's a bar for (basically) just Belgian Beer -- but it's not all about that. It's about everything. The ambiance, the decor, the service, the food... it's just simply the coolest place ever. And yes -- the trend factor is like... through the roof... so you'd think that I'd hate it. But it's not so.
The store itself used to be LITERALLY a brick store. They made and sold bricks back like... a hundred years ago. There is a huge, heavy wooden door that opens up to the pub (with a branch for a handle). The hardwood floors and eclectic tables (some made from old sewing machines) and original bare brick walls make this place... just... COOL!
There's a bar right up front with a million things on tap, and upstairs to the left is the BELGIAN BAR -- with all Belgian Beer on tap, and in the bottles in the fridges behind the bartender. And just by the way -- EVERY beer, EVERY drink, is served in it's PROPER GLASS, EVERY TIME! How amazing is that?!
Getting a table here is kind of like playing pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. It's hit or miss. During the week, you can usually hit... but the weekends... GOOD LUCK! I've waited over an hour for a table (totally worth it) and I would wait longer. The food is worth everything!
So, I'm a weirdo. I don't drink. I don't eat beef or pork. You'd think that I'd just starve to death -- but no. My favs are: for an appetizer the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus plate (simply amazing) and/or the Cheese Plate; for burgers - both the Veggie and Turkey burger are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! My husband's fav is the Brick Burger (he gets it every other time we go). The Vegie Gyro, and Chicken Salad Sandwich are also great. And if you're more of a pasta person (or strict vegetarian), I'd highly recommend the Pierogi Primavera, B.S. Pasta (without the sausage), Farfalle di Pesto, and/or Penne Pomodoro (minus the sausage again).
I've tried almost everything on the menu that I will eat, and I've NEVER been disappointed.
Waiters are attentive, and they don't work just one area... they all share the floor - so they will get those empty plates and glasses off of your tables faster than you can blink and before you even realize it, you have a clear full glass in front of you again! Keep 'em coming!
Also -- just a side note, the Decatur Square itself is kind of a hot spot for celebs... thus, so is the amazing and world renowned Brick Store Pub. Most recently, we met a notorious (adult) film star there. I won't drop names, but you could probably guess.

Best Bar and Beer in Atlanta...hands down. I think they have food too, but by the time I've ordered I've had so many damn good beers I'd probably eat anything...but I do love the Fish and Chips
Great atmosphere, don't really know any other place like it in town. The staff is very knowledgeable on all types of beers. This place opened my eyes to a whole new world of excellent beers. The Belgian Bar upstairs is my favorite place.
Try to Trappistes Rochefort 10...then go to Hop City or Green's to buy it for much less!
Ok so the beer selection is stellar. I mean as a beer drinker this place could be considered mecca. The food isnt too bad either.
what I dislike is the packed upstairs, not even eough room to lift my elbo for said beer. If you can get a table this place is alright.
As I come to the top of the stairs I turn around and look at the restaurant below. I lean over to a friend and say: It really doesn't get any better then this does it? His reply is a simple "no". We know that in Atlanta and maybe even further out that there is no other place that really speaks to those that know good food, good beer, good service, and can come to one destination to appreciate it all.
It all starts with the beer. The book that they call their beer menu has pages of what I consider the best beer selection I've ever seen. Other places have quantity, here you find quality beers that you won't find in other typical restaurants. Second to the beer only, the food is remarkable. Everything I've had there has been outstanding. Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, The Brat, Tomato Montrachet, and The Brick Burger were all some of the best I've ever had. I'm considering The Brick Burger for one the best burgers in Atlanta.
The ambiance is welcoming and the staff are knowledgeable about the wide selection of brews. I've never seen a bar staff that actively works together serving each guest with such attention to detail and teamwork. After you have come and enjoyed the bar and dining area on the main level ascend to the Belgium beer bar upstairs. This secret hideaway is almost like walking into something out of an old movie. A small bar "Upstairs and to the left" filled with different beers that most have never heard of. You won't find the major domestics here, but instead 8 rotating draughts and over 100 bottled Belgium brews.
Our evening was perfect down to the interesting bathroom that are clean and equipped with the coolest hand dryer ever! I really haven't had that kind of overall stellar experience that I had last night at Brickstore in a very long time. Being a fan of out door seating, I wish that they had acquired the space for a patio. A small complaint that really subsides once you're inside enjoying yourself. I consider Brickstore an Atlanta staple, especially if you're anywhere near Decatur

The best bar in Atlanta. Hands down. I love beer and I love this place.
The outside of Brickstore is unassuming, but upon entering you feel like you might have stepped a hundred years back in time, or at least made a trip to a German Pub. There are a few modern flares that add to the uniqueness of the decor and make the interior special. Every time I go, I seem to end up chatting it up with a server who have been more than glad to discuss beer with me. This is unique since at most places with a big selection, the people serving you seem have no clue about beer.
Their food is delicious, but to make it even better, the kitchen is open until the bar closes, so you don't have to worry about leaving if you get the late night munchies. Get here early and stay late. You will leave feeling like you've begun to incubate a baby but you won't regret it one bit. Come here and get knocked up with awesome booze and food.

Pretzel Warning!
Once the menu's star attraction, the famed Brick Store pretzels are not at all what they once were.
In short, you now pay the same price for just one pretzel (used to be 2 per order) and the 'soft' pretzel you receive may be as hard as the table you will soon inevitably be pounding your fist upon.
I've been going for years and love this place. But the pretzel switcheroo cannot go unpunished. Half the food, same price, worse product.
Dear Brick Store,
I miss you. I moved across the country and couldn't take you with me. I now have to content myself with standing in the beer section at BevMo and reminiscing about the book of delectable and varied beers you have cold and ready to go. Ah, the times we had - warm summer nights where I walked to your glowing beacon... sitting on the sidewalk listening to the concerts on the square... having a non-date with my now-boyfriend when we ran into one of my ex's friends... We've shared so much. I'll be back when I can, but I know that yearly visitations just won't be enough. Don't forget me. I will always love you.

Beer! Belgian beer! Soft pretzels! Fish and Chips!
Ok, now that my burst of excitement for Brick Store is out of the way, on with the review... I loved this place. Besides that fact that they have a great and huge list of beers, both Belgian and otherwise, to feed my want for unique brews, I thought everything else about the place was excellent as well. Once you walk in you feel like you're in a northern European brewhouse, from the wooden decor to the bar upstairs that barely has a enough headroom for you to walk upright if you're pretty tall. Dining tables are tucked away throughout the place, and if you eat in the main room you get the feeling of being in a German beer hall from all the chatter. The food was good, although I've only eaten there once so my experience is limited. All in all a great place to grab a beer of have a meal.

I give five stars very rarely and this one is an all around thank you to The Brick Store!
If you like this place or not--one thing is true --it has set the standard for pubs in the south. The small time owners had a dream and did it back in like 1996. This is an Atlanta staple. If someone was coming to visit and I had to send them to a place for great beer in town this would be it. They specialize in beer and they have beer I have never tried which is hard to do. Props to The Brick Store because you are rated in the top 5 pubs for beer selection in the country.
The best thing is sitting at the bar and hearing a new guest ask for a heini or a butt lite and the knowledgable staff not even blinking an eye to give the customer what is closest to the request. Thats what they do serve beer and serve the best beer they can get.
The service and food are not five stars but as you can tell they serve the best beer below the Maison Dixon line. Look at the menu--you will need something to soak up the Belgian selection--and everything is below $10! That shows you that --hey we got food-it taste ok-but they are not trying to take all your money--
thank you come again.
